#Cave club doll

So, since July of last year, I've been slowly making some custom dolls for myself!

Today, I finished Julie~

There is more to be done with her, like making her red dress, creating a foam bump to give her more hair height (I tried back combing/teasing it, but the Shimmer Locks hair is too high quality to be ratted lol), and make even more cute outfits.

But honestly, it's been a really fun and cool creative journey! I never thought I'd ever re-hair a doll, let alone paint new eyebrows for one! I have more progress pics on my insta, but I'll post some of those here in the future.

I am also working on Wally and I hope I can style his hair well enough and get a fun picture for Clown's birthday~

Side note: I adore brushing/combing her hair xD it gives me flashbacks to some of my favorite dolls as a kid, like Lady Lovelylocks~

I'm having a bit of a struggle. I want one more layer of color built up on this doll's face, but I dunno. Is it just me, or is she feeling a little dead inside? I dunno if I just need eye shines to add that spark of life, or if she needs more than that. What do you think?

That said, the dress did not go as planned, but I actually like this better than my concept art. Because it covers the legs, I don't have to make shoes, she can still stand on her own if I balance her right, it feels more regal and celebratory, and when I hold her up for photos, my hand is sufficiently covered. And all it took was cutting up a skirt and stitching/gluing it in the right spot!

Howleen’s neck peg broke so I stuck her on a Cave Club body.

She's finally finished! Custom doll of Galoo from Wendy Lian Martin's Castle Swimmer (on webtoons). I started making her immediately after Galoo's first appearance in the comic because I was so enamored with merseaslug. I love nudibranches....

This was literally my only reference for a long time lmaooo (me trying to figure out how many legs she has...)

This Galoo is the top half of a Cave Club doll (I think she was Roaralai?) and the bottom half is wire, fabric from the scrap drawer, and some faux fur I've had since I was a teenager. (It's not the best, but true to the themes of ocean preservation in Castle Swimmer, I wanted to reduce reuse recycle for this project!!) The body was the first thing I finished two years ago, so the reveal of her little paw pads were a last minute and delightful addition.

I did two garage sales this morning!

The first one was big, I found a lot of cute things:

The Sarah kay set, the little Disney Princesses, some Maple Towners and Sylvanians, the new Totally Hair I was eyeing (is that a saying in english? Idk ^^)

Some G1! I didn't have this AppleJack so I'm happy! The colours of the little fakie caught my eyes so I took it too!

I'm (barely) not dead!

I like the skin tone match a little better on the Boxy body, but the Cave Club fits without any modding of the neck at all, and it matches her forehead closely enough when she's dressed.
