To qualify as a MILF, one has to be a) female b) older, middle-aged at least (not necessarily a mother) c) considered sexy in-universe by at least one character (that is NOT a random rapist, sorry Gülşah, or their husband of 20 years, again sorry Hürrem)

The real contention is over the last point, a.k.a. which one is THE sexiest older woman in the show.

I recently asked you about how Nigar would fair as a Sultana. Now I'm wondering how other servants would have faired if they switched positions with their mistresses.

So how do you think e.g. Gülşah, Fahriye, Canfeda, Cennet and Lalezar would have been if they didn't become kalfas?

Oh Gülşah would have been terrible in Mahidevran's position. Considering how stupid, violent, cruel and arrogant she was. This is the same woman after all who was a liability to both Mahidevran and Hürrem, encouraged Mahidevran's worst instincts and behaved like a High School mean girl.

Fahriye had some similarities with Hürrem. Given that she arrived at the palace 'wild' and became a loyal member of Hürrem's circle. I think she showed herself to be quite intelligent (e.g. thinking fast when she was almost caught for the assassination attempt on Hürrem), as well as having a sense of integrity, being quite perceptive and capable of doing ruthless deeds. I think she has the qualities to be a Sultana.

Cennet is interesting. Because we're told that she was arrogant as Mehmet III's favourite before her face was burned. And she became jaded after that. So if we're talking about the Cennet who was a favourite, she already failed on the way to becoming a Sultana. But the more cynical version of Cennet was someone who I think had enough intelligence and self-respect to be a Sultana.

I think Lalezar was best suited to be a kalfa. She had the sense of loyalty and the no nonsense attitude that work best in that environment. She was loyal and intelligent but didn't have the ruthlessness that Kösem did. She would have probably been 'nicer' and less excessive than Kösem, but I don't know how that would have worked out for her.

How is Cennet to Kosem compared in regards to Nigar to Hurrem? Did Nigar truly create Hurrem and later regretted it?

We could say Cennet and Nigar had a fair amount of parallels, but contrasting arcs regarding Kösem and Hürrem. Both of them started out more opportunistic than loyal- if there were characters fully aware that everyone fights for their own position in the harem first and foremost, it was them. Both of them weren't hesitant to exercise the haremly order to disobedient concubines. Both of them had the equal respect and position to show that kind of power. But that's where the similarities end.

While Nigar saw the potential in Hürrem, gave her a chance and reprimanded her only when she was seemingly making a fool of herself or not showing enough restraint in her relations to other sultanas (mostly Mahidevran), Cennet was much harder on Anastasia from the get-go. That itself brings us to different reactions- Hürrem viewed Nigar as her advisor at first, as someone she could trust and even acknowledging the way she had helped her when their relationship had already changed while I felt Anastasia had more of a deep-seated resentment on her, didn't like her so much and went to her for help for her letters to her family more out of necessity and the desire to return to her roots overtaking her more than anything else. We also have Nigar helping Hürrem more willingly and Cennet helping Kösem more reluctantly.

I never viewed Nigar as someone unconditionally loyal to Hürrem from the beggining, she never took an open side and directed herself to where the wind was blowing. Cennet, while potentially being as opportunistic, was still very devoted to Safiye. Nigar's arc was about finally finding someone to be loyal to, who could understand her and give her everything, making her indulge in false idealistic fantasies she could never escape from. Cennet's arc was about letting go of a loyalty through finding out a truth, finding out who actually caused her the burden of her life and standing against the beliefs that had been torn apart by what she learned. Nigar drifted further away from Hürrem. Cennet became closer to Kösem.

From a person Kösem resented, Cennet became a companion so close she would be trusted with deceiving Handan. From a person Hürrem relied on a lot, Nigar became either someone Hürrem would use, either someone to beware of and keep an eye on. Nigar and Hürrem's relationship was still more turbulent, though - it was moving back and forth between Nigar seemingly betraying Hürrem, then trying to win back Hürrem's trust, then going completely against her and from one side to another for a self gain. Admittedly, Hürrem did have a soft spot for her before S03: there have been times Hürrem wanted to trust her, but was always deceived in a way and she may have thought that she gave her far too many chances and was way more comfortable putting her into her schemes. Nigar had nothing against Hürrem, per say, and wanted to earn her favour again before Hürrem told Hatice about the affair, but she was more loyal to Ibrahim and then Nigar began resenting her for a bit and kept on using her opportunism more than ever, which didn't include loyalty to Hürrem. Cennet and Kösem had more turnarounds in the beggining and she more or less had to put up with her, when Kösem went on tell her the truth about her face, Cennet not only didn't believe her, but also didn't want to come with her to talk to begin with. Then she still wanted to take time for herself and it was then she became loyal to Kösem and that was about it. Both of them counted on each other until the end.

[Nigar definetly had a hand in creating Hürrem, because she told her what she had to do to lend in a favorable position from E01 and that, along with the dream with her parents, helped her direct herself to the only sure path for her in the harem, but for me, Hürrem was the one who mostly created herself. It was her strenght, determination, ambition, pragmatism and ability to assert herself, adapt to the circumstances and both do risks in the system and perpetuate it, that made her move forward. If she wasn't willing to move past her loss and keep on, if she wasn't the one willing to make a grander life for herself, if she didn't map out the goal in her head herself... no one would be able to do that for her. And no, I don't think Nigar regretted anything regarding her helping Hürrem. We see how when SS's family learnt of the wedding, she (along with Gül Aga, of course) was the only person happy for her. The game had limits for Nigar, however, telling Hürrem in E41 that she has taken it too far. These limits were broken in S03 where we saw Nigar fighting for her life for the most part, but.. nothing more of it. Maybe there was a hint of fear from Nigar, mentioning many times how Hürrem is smart and dangerous, but that didn't connect to the part Nigar possibly played in this outcome.]

Sultanas:-Hurrem obviously. My favorite throughout the 4 seasons Meryem amd Vahide were amazing.

Kalfas/Aghas:-Nigar Hatun. She was always interesting in the 3 seasons and I loved Daye Hatun in season 2. For Aghas obviously Sumbul.

Pashas:- Rustem was amazing because Ozan is perfect.

Princes:-Selim. Very realistic

Children cast:- They were all amazing honestly. My favorites were fetus Mihrimah ,fetus Mustafa and fetus Cihangir.

Sultanas:- Halime in SO1. Kosem in SO2. Halime is just beautiful and consistent throughout the season…Aslihan did an amazing job. For SO2 Nurgul is Kosem sultan. Period.

Kalfas/Aghas:- Cennet, I loved her she was hilarious and Haci agha. Haci wasn’t as interesting as Sumbul was but still great. Ester too if she counts.

Pashas:- Kemankes because he wasn’t dying to be Murad’s boy. Also Abaza mehmed pasha was looking good.

Princes:-Kasim , wished he’d ascend the throne half of the chaos wouldn’t have happened. Also loved adult Mustafa in SO1.

Children cast:-again all of them were amazing. I loved fetus Mustafa and the young boy who played Murad.

Favorite sultan out of all of them:- Ahmed probably. I mean I exclude Osman and Mustafa for being absolutely useless and we didn’t see much of their “eras” either. SS and Mu rat are absolutely terrible assholes egotists so I’ve got no choice but Ahmed here.

The Rise and The Fall of Kosem Sultan (Part II - Episode I)

Kosem Sultan: Rise to Power Episode I

Anastasia left Ahmed's Room and went to face rebels. She reached there and told them that Sultan and Shehzade Mustafa are alive however their health is in critical condition. She assured them that she takes guarantee that Palace is telling truth and is not hiding anything. She also told them to go back and return after sometime to see Sultan well and fine. When rebels started to disperse one of them shot Anastasia and she fell down. After a moment Anastasia became conscious and stood up. This was due to Taveez (object of protection) given by Aziz Mehmud Hudayi. Anastasia came back to the palace and was taken to palace clinic for medical aid. The rebels finally dispersed and on the other hand Anstasia's father reached Isatanbul in search of his daughter. Next morning everyone praises Anastasia including Valide Sultan. She is presented as the Hero in front of everyone in the palace and then due to her heroic acts she was named Kosem (the leader). Ahmed's condition improved but he was unconscious. There was chance of another rebellion so for speedy recovery Kosem went to Fortune Teller Magician who gave her a medicine and told her that Ahmed will be fine only at one cost, that Kosem will see the death of all her loved ones, she accepted this and took the medicine. On the other hand her father is still in search of her. Safiye made pact with Giray brothers, the Crimean Hans (thinking that Ahmed and Mustafa would die soon) that Sahin Giray will acsend the ottoman throne. The coronation preparations were complete. On the same day of Sahin's coronation Ahmed suddenly woke up fine and in good health. When Sahin was about to be declared Sultan, by everyone's surprise Ahmed came to durbar, beheaded the minister and proclaimed that he's still the Sultan and will punish everyone who created problems during his illness. Kosem then came to meet him and he called her Nasia, she replied that she is not Nasia, Anastasia, Hatice or Mahpeker. From now onwards she is KOSEM.

Kosem breaks her alliance with Safiye after watching her actions during Ahmed's illness. Kosem's father found her through the help of Alexander (now Iskender) but Safiye learns about this and arrests him. Kosem learns that it was Fahriye who poisoned Ahmed and Mustafa due to her love interest. Safiye threatens her that she'll kill her father if she tells this to Sultan. She uses Kosem and then kills her Father. Fahriye is not married with Mehmed Giray (her love interest) instead she is married to Dervaish Pasha (closest to Ahmed) which Ahmed approved and wedding preparations began. On the other hand Dervaish Pasha confesses his love for Valide Sultan Handan to her about which she's angry but she spares his life despite this. Kosem pledges to take revenge of her father. Cennet Kalfa (Safiye's Confident) is told by Kosem that the reason of her burnt face is Safiye. When she was Mehmed III concubine, it was Safiye who schemed against her and burnt her face. Cennet after learning this switched her side secretly and gives Kosem the ring of her mother which her father brought from Tinos which Safiye kept with her. Kosem threatens. Safiye that she will tell everything to Sultan but she didn't give any attention to her. Kosem schemed and caught the letter of Fahriye in which it was written that she poisoned Sultan. She showed this letter to Safiye and told her that she will return this letter only if she leaves the Topkapi Palace and shifts to Aski Palace. Safiye agreed and left for Aski Palace. On her way when she unfolded Fajriye's letter given by Kosem she found out that it was simple paper and Kosem had played with her and the letter is still with her. Cennet confesses that she helped Kosem and she officially changed sides. Sultan gives Kosem the crown of great Hurrem Sultan. Kosem walks in the palace as if shes the queen. Kosem hands over the letter to Ahmed and told him all the truth about Fahriye. He despite of this becomes disappointed from Kosem as he said that he only liked her due to her Innocence but now she's no more innocent as she is also scheming like other Sultanas.

On the other hand Mahfiruz gives birth to Sultan's first child a son named Osman. This created jealousy in Kosem's heart. Sultan is not talking to Kosem and she is not allowed to visit him nor to come in his room. Kosem learns that she's pregnant and soon she gives birth to Sultan's second son Mehmed. Sultan is still not taking to her so she decided to tell him whole truth about the murder of her father. She told him that she only took revenge from Safiye because she killed her father. After learning this his heart melts and he is reunited with Kosem. Fahriye on the other hand takes refuge in Mahmood Hudayi Welfare where it is not allowed to kill anyone. Ahmed tries to get her out but she didn't. Kosem again schemed with Zulfikar Pasha and Mehmed Giray and made her come out of the welfare and then arrested her. Sultan praises the efforts of Kosem and Zulfikar. She is presented to Sultan and she pleads him to forgive her. He tells him that he'll think about this matter. Fahriye settles back in her place with Dervaish Pasha where he executes her on the order of Sultan Ahmed. Safiye when learns about her daughter's executions goes into. Deep sorrow and pledges to take revenge from Ahmed.

Ahmed goes to hunt with his guards where he faces assassination attempt on himself but he was saved by Dervaish who put his life in danger. Safiye starts rebellion in palace. She told Jannisaries that Ahmed is no more. They believed and sided with her. She planed to put Mustafa on throne. Kosem saves the life of Valide Sultan, Osman and Mehmed however unfortunately Mahfiruz is killed by Safiye's guards. Safiye ordered execution of Kosem but she is spared by Bulbul (Safiye's Agha) who admired her. She along with Valide and her son's took refuge in a girl's house named Meleki. At the time of Mustafa's crowning Ahmed, by everyone's surprise appeared and kills pashas who sided with Safiye. Zukfikar and Mehmed Giray sided with Ahmed. Safiye tries to poison herself but she is caught by Ahmed who then imprisoned her. All her accessories and property was taken away. Humashah (Safiye's daughter) arrives in the capital.

Kosem learns from Halime (mother of Mustafa) that Handan and Dervaish are in love with each other and that Dervaish killed Mehmed III. Kosem schemed again but now against Dervaish and Handan, she managed to tell Sultan about Dervaish. Humashah on the other hand falls in love with Zulfikar Pasha. She's living in the palace and was convincing Sultan to release Safiye. Sultan learns that Dervaish killed Mehmed III only to save Ahmed's life however Ahmed executed Dervaish. (Who was then Prime minister) on charges of Sultan's murder. Handan commits suicide in fear that Ahmed will learn about her love and also because she was in deep sorrow after the execution of Dervaish. Palace mourns the loss of Valide Sultan. Huamshah is made incharge of Harem.

After sometime Safiye is released. Humashah's husband comes to. Capital and asks Sultan to let Humashah go with him but she refuses. Humashah and Safiye learns that Iskender is Shehzade Safiye's son and Humashah's brother. Kosem learns that she is again pregnant. She tells this good news to Sultan who then makes her incharge of Harem.

Kosem after so much struggle finally managed to rule Harem.

I'm sorry if this has been asked before, do you know would the servants in the harem such as the Kalfas and treasurer were slaves themselves such as in MC Kosem Cennet went from being a concubine to treasurer or were they free women what worked in the harem?

Hi! Not a problem, it hasn’t been asked yet! 

Yes, they were all slaves who had entered the harem as concubines and that were destined to a different career, or maybe they were old concubines (like, maybe, gulfem) who lost their children or who never had children and asked to become attendants or supervisors in the harem. The Harem Stewardess ranked right below the Imperial Consorts and everyone treated her with great respect; I think she even received the Order of Abdülmecid from the Sultan? I’m not sure, though.

If you’re interested in the harem hierarchy of the late Ottoman Empire, I’d recommend the chapter “the teacher Safiye” in Douglas Scott Brookes - The Concubine, the Princess, and the Teacher. For the Harem Hierarchy during the Sultanate of Women, I’d suggest chapter 5 of The Imperial Harem by Leslie Peirce.

İnsana verdiği bunca emek ve nimete bakıldığında insan Allah'a borçludur ve bu borç ödenecek bir borç değildir. Allah da zaten bunu bildiği için insanın bu borçluluğun bilincinde olması (takvâ) halinde borcunu ödemiş olacağını bildirmiştir.

Din; arapçada borç/hesap demektir. Bizim Allah'a karşı olan sorumluluğumuzu yerine getirmemiz için Allahın koyduğu kriterlerdir. Aynı zamanda yeryüzünün halifesi görevini yerine getirmemiz için verdiği destektir.

Allah bunca nimet ve destekten sonra O'nun rızasına göre hareket edenlere ebedî cenneti, nankörlük edenlere ise cehennemi vaad etmiştir.

Peki insan bu görevi yerine getirebilmiş midir?

Kur'anın buna cevabı:

Evet, (hiçbir insan) O`nun emirlerini asla kusursuz olarak yerine getirememiştir.

📗 Abese 23

Bilakis, halife olan, imar edecek olan insan, cennete gitmek için yeryüzünü cehenneme çevirmiştir.

Çünkü insan; aklını, iradesini ve vicdanını Rabbinin gönderdiği rehberle birlikte kullanmadı. Bilakis; kimi kendini űstün gördü, kibirlendi hevasına uydu, kimi şeytanlara ve tağutlara....

İnsanlık tarihi boyunca Allahın varlığı tartışma konusu değildi. Sorun O'nun Rab'liğiydi.

İnsanlık aslında Allah'a şunu der gibiydi :

Tamam bizi, herşeyi Sen yarattın, rızıklandıran da Sensin fakat yeryüzünde bize karışma...

Oysa yaratmak da, emretmek de ALLAH'a aitti.

İmar edeceği yeryüzünü tarumar etti...

Geçmiş ümmetler bedelini ödedi,

Bugün de biz ödüyoruz.

En büyük helâk, helakte olduğunun bilincinde olmamaktır.

Rabbimiz uyanmayı nasip etsin.

Rabbimiz ayetlerini O'nun istediği şekilde, O'nun adıyla okuyabilmemizi nasip etsin İnşaAllah....
