Chapter 35 of All That Glitters
18+ Minors DNI.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Although she wasn't walking tonight's red carpet with Jude, Naya couldn't deny the nerves she felt as she got ready to attend Real Madrid's annual gala held in support of multiple children’s charities across the city.
After a grueling tennis practice with Maria and her team, Naya had spent the better part of the day in and out of various maintenance appointments.
She had her hair styled into an elegant updo, her makeup perfectly done to complement her stunning evening gown. As she slipped on her heels and grabbed her clutch, Naya took a step back to inspect her outfit in the floor length mirror in one of Jude’s guest rooms.
She was pulled from her thoughts as the bedroom door swung open, revealing Jude standing there in a sharp tuxedo, a smile spreading across his face as he took in Naya's appearance.
"Wow, you look absolutely breathtaking," he said, crossing the room to join her, his hands resting gently on her waist.
"Thank you," Naya replied, feeling her nerves ease slightly under Jude's warm gaze. "You look handsome," she complemented, a playful smile tugging at her lips.
Jude leaned in to place a soft kiss on Naya's neck before offering her his hand so he could lead her outside to the awaiting car.
Their driver opened the car door, and Jude helped Naya inside before sliding in next to her. The anticipation of the evening ahead filled the air as they made their way to the gala. Naya couldn't help but feel grateful for Jude's calming presence by her side.
As they arrived at the venue, Naya made her way inside leaving Jude to pose for pictures and take interviews from journalists.
She mingled with the familiar faces around the room as she waited for Jude to join her, enjoying the lively atmosphere and the chance to support such important causes.
Finding the table they were seated at, Naya took a seat waiting for Jude to join her.
As she sat there, Naya couldn't help but feel a surge of pride knowing that tonight Jude was set to be awarded for his efforts on the team in their previous season after winning the LaLiga tournament and Champions League.
"Naya," a voice called out, causing her to look up in surprise. She couldn't believe her eyes as she saw Carlos Alcaraz approaching her table.
“Carlos, hi,” Naya smiled politely as he took a seat beside her.
"I had no idea you were attending tonight. It's great to see you," he said, genuinely happy to have some familiar company amidst the chaos of the event.
"I’m here with my boyfriend,” Naya replied, gesturing towards where Jude was finally making his way over to their table, looking less than pleased with Naya’s acquaintance. His jaw tensed slightly as he reached them, he managed to offer a nod in Carlos' direction before turning his attention to Naya.
"Everything okay?" Jude asked in a low voice, his concern evident as he glanced between Naya and Carlos.
Naya nodded reassuringly, placing a hand on Jude's arm. "Everything's fine, just catching up," she explained, giving him a comforting smile hoping he relaxed at her words.
Jude remained tense as he turned to Carlos. "Nice to see you, Carlos," Jude greeted, his tone polite but guarded.
Carlos gave a subtle nod, picking up on the palpable tension in the room. "Good to see you, Jude," he responded. "Naya, I look forward to catching up with you later," he added with a sly wink.
Naya watched as Carlos left, feeling a mix of emotions swirling within her. She knew Jude's protective nature was just a part of who he was, but she had to acknowledge that Carlos winking at her made her question his intentions. She couldn't shake off the feeling of discomfort that lingered after Carlos's departure.
“Fucking idiot,” Jude mumbled under his breath, letting out a huff of frustration.
Naya squeezed Jude's arm, trying to diffuse the tension. "It's okay, Jude. Forget about him." She reassured him.
“Regardless of whether he finds you attractive or not, that was fucking disrespectful.”
Jude's words were laced with a hint of possessiveness, his grip on Naya's hand tightening slightly.
Naya understood where Jude was coming from, appreciating his protectiveness but also not wanting any unnecessary drama to spoil their evening. "I know, but let's not let it ruin the night. We're here to celebrate your accomplishments, remember?" she said softly, giving his hand a reassuring squeeze.
Jude's expression softened at her words, his features relaxing as he looked into her eyes. The low hum of conversation around the room quieted as a speaker stepped onto the stage to introduce the event.
Naya and Jude turned their attention to the stage, their focus shifting to the purpose of the evening.
Although he tried to suppress his annoyance, Jude’s mood was completely sour as the evening went on.
He made an effort to maintain a polite demeanor throughout the gala, clapping and smiling when necessary, but Naya could see the tension simmering beneath the surface.
As the night went on tables and chairs were set aside giving way to a dance floor and creating the space for guest to mingle.
Naya stood by Jude's side, intently listening as he conversed with Kylian. His hand rested casually on the back of her neck.
The interaction that most might have overlooked as a mere touch between romantic partners was laden with profound meaning and significance for Naya and Jude.
Although she remained stoic, Jude's hold around her neck made her core pulse and nipples harden against the fabric of her dress. She knew exactly what he was doing, regardless of how innocent he may have seemed as he stood engrossed in a conversation with his teammate. He was inadvertently marking his territory for all present to see.
His fingers gently grazed the skin at the base of her throat as he leaned in, his warm breath tickling her ear. Naya could feel the intensity in his touch, the possessiveness in his grip. She kept her expression neutral, not wanting to give him the satisfaction of knowing the effect he had on her.
But deep down, a part of her enjoyed the thrill of his dominance, the raw desire he stirred within her, as his touch lingered.
Excusing herself from Jude, Naya went in search of the restroom to freshen up and have a moment to herself.
Just as she went to leave the bathroom, the door opened to reveal Jude. The look of annoyance that once danced in his eyes was replaced with something else as he closed the door and locked it behind himself.
Naya's heart skipped a beat as she turned to face Jude, the air between them thick with unspoken tension. His eyes bore into hers, a mixture of frustration and desire swirling within them.
"I got bored without you," Jude confessed, his voice low and husky.
Naya felt her pulse quicken as Jude closed the distance between them, his hands finding their way to her waist, pulling her closer, before turning her so they both faced the mirror Naya had been checking her makeup in minutes before.
"You look incredible in this dress, but I can’t wait to take you out of it," Jude whispered hotly as he caught Naya’s ear between his teeth. His hands reached up to gently part the loose material that made up the low-cut neckline of her dress, revealing her breast as they took in their reflections in the mirror before them.
Naya's breath caught in her throat as she felt Jude's warm breath on her skin. She closed her eyes, savoring the sensation of his touch as he traced a path of fire along her collarbone. His fingers danced lightly over her skin, sending shivers down her spine. Jude's gaze met hers in the mirror, dark with desire and mischief.
With a slow, deliberate movement, he slid the straps of her dress off her shoulders, letting the fabric pool at her waist. Naya stood before him, exposed and vulnerable, yet feeling more alive than ever. Jude's hands roamed over her body, igniting a hunger deep within her.
"Do you think Carlos can fuck you the way I can?”Naya's heart raced at Jude's bold question, her desire for him burning brighter with each passing moment. She shook her head, unable to form words as she gazed into his intense eyes, knowing that there was no comparison between them. Jude's lips curved into a wicked smile as he leaned in to capture her mouth in a searing kiss, claiming her completely.
“Do you think he knows you like being fucked slow and deep?” Jude continued as he trailed kisses down her neck, leaving a trail of heat in his wake. Naya's mind was a blur as she tried to focus on anything other than the overwhelming desire coursing through her veins. She could feel the tension building between them, the air thick with anticipation.
Jude's hands moved with purpose, exploring every inch of her exposed skin, leaving her trembling with need. His touch was electrifying, sending waves of pleasure through her body. Naya couldn't deny the truth in Jude's words – he knew her in a way no one else did, and the thought sent a thrill down her spine.
As Jude's lips found hers once more, their passion ignited like a flame, consuming them both in a whirlwind of desire. In that moment, all that mattered was the connection between them, the raw and unbridled passion that threatened to consume them whole.
“I’m going to take you home and cum in you, just because I can. Because you belong to me.”
Naya's heart pounded in her chest at Jude's possessive words, feeling a rush of excitement and arousal at his dominant declaration. She knew that she was completely under his spell, unable and unwilling to resist the magnetic pull between them. With a nod, she silently acknowledged her submission to him, her body craving his touch and his claim.
"We’re going to leave the bathroom and say good night to my teammates and coaches. And then I’m going to take you to my place and show you just how much you belong to me," Jude murmured, his voice low and commanding.
Naya's heart raced with anticipation, her body thrumming with desire as she eagerly followed him out of the bathroom and into the night ahead, ready for whatever he had in store for her.
Holding Jude’s hand as he led her throughout the room Naya felt a sense of exhilaration and nervousness as they made their way through the crowded room. She could feel the curious glances and whispers directed their way, but she was too consumed by the heat of Jude's touch to care. His grip on her hand was firm, possessive, and it sent a thrill through her.
Naya was so turned on, she couldn’t make eye contact with anyone out of the fear of exposing herself.
As they reached the group of Jude's teammates and coaches, Naya felt a rush of adrenaline at the thought of what was to come. She stood by Jude's side, her body humming with anticipation as he exchanged pleasantries and goodbyes. The air between them crackled with tension, a silent promise of the passion that awaited them.
Jude crossed the room to where Carlos stood, his mood less sour as he bid good night to the man who’s attendance conjured his possessive streak over Naya to rear its head.
The smuggest part of Jude wanted to thank Carlos for his part to play and let him know that he was going to take Naya home and fuck her until she forgot he existed. But he knew better and he respected his girlfriend far too much to ever stoop to that level.
Instead, Jude simply nodded at Carlos, his eyes glinting with a silent challenge. Carlos seemed to sense the tension between them, but he simply offered a tight-lipped smile and a nod in return before looking away.
As they left the gala and made their way to Jude's place, Naya's heart raced with a heady mix of excitement and nerves. She knew that she was about to embark on a night filled with passion and desire, giving herself completely to Jude's dominant and possessive nature.
Once inside Jude's house, the air crackled with electricity as he pulled her into his arms, claiming her with a fierce intensity that left her breathless. Naya surrendered herself to him, letting go of all inhibitions.
“I don’t think you understand how much I want you,” Jude drawled, his eyes running over Naya’s body as her dress pooled at her feet, before meeting hers.
Naya's pulse quickened at Jude's words, a surge of desire coursing through her veins as she met his gaze with equal fervor. She could feel the intensity of his desire for her, the hunger in his eyes mirroring her own. With a soft gasp, she whispered, "Show me, Jude. Show me how much you want me."
With a predatory gleam in his eyes, Jude wasted no time in fulfilling her request. He lifted her effortlessly, carrying her to his bedroom where the air was heavy with anticipation.
As they tumbled onto the bed, their bodies melded together in a frenzy of need and desire. Jude's touch ignited a fire within Naya, his hands exploring every inch of her with a possessiveness that left her breathless. She arched into his touch, her body responding eagerly to his every caress.
Standing up from the bed, Jude got down onto his knees and wrapped his hand around Naya’s ankle to pull her body towards him.
As much as he wanted to plunge his length deep inside her and fuck her until she saw stars, first, he needed a taste.
Slipping her saturated thong to the side, Jude hummed in appreciation as he came face to face with her pussy.
The sight of her glistening folds made his mouth water with anticipation. Without hesitation, Jude leaned in and placed a trail of hot, open-mouthed kisses along her inner thighs, moving closer and closer to her center.
Naya's breath hitched as Jude's warm breath fanned across her sensitive skin, sending shivers of pleasure through her body. When his lips finally made contact with her throbbing core, she gasped at the sensation of his tongue tracing slow circles around her most intimate place.
Jude savored the taste of her, his movements deliberate and calculated to drive her wild with desire. He expertly flicked and teased, drawing out her pleasure until she was writhing beneath him, lost in a haze of ecstasy.
Naya's hands gripped the sheets as Jude brought her to the brink of release, his ministrations pushing her closer and closer to the edge. And when she finally shattered with a cry of his name on her lips, Jude reveled in the knowledge that he alone could bring her such exquisite pleasure.
“Sit up and taste yourself,” Jude instructed as he leaned over her, bringing his lips to meet hers in a searing kiss.
Naya obeyed without hesitation, moaning as Jude made sure she tasted herself on his tongue.
“You look as good as you taste,” he smirked as they parted lips, his eyes slowly scanning over her naked body.
With a coy smirk Naya turned over onto her stomach, raising her hips slightly as she silently gave herself over to be claimed by Jude once again.
“You’re such a fucking good girl,” Jude growled as pulled his length free from the confines of his underwear, before sending a sharp slap to Naya’s ass.
“Put your hands behind your back and give yourself to me properly,” he ordered, making Naya moan as she obliged him.
Naya's body thrummed with anticipation as she followed Jude's command, her heart racing with a mixture of desire and submission. She clasped her hands behind her back, offering herself up to him completely, ready to surrender to his every whim.
Jude's hands roamed over her exposed skin, his touch igniting something within her that threatened to consume her whole. His fingers traced a path of heat along her spine, sending shivers of pleasure through her body. Naya arched into his touch, craving more of his dominant caress.
With a low growl, Jude positioned himself behind her, his length pressing against her slick folds. The anticipation of what was to come sent a thrill through Naya, her body aching for his touch. And when he finally entered her with a slow, deliberate thrust, she cried out in ecstasy.
Jude’s eyes were fixed on the way Naya stretched to accommodate his girth, he could feel her walls clenching around him as he filled her completely. The sensation was overwhelming, a mixture of pleasure and possession that left them both breathless.
Coming up on her arms and raising her hips higher to create a deep arch in her back, Naya let out a loud moan as Jude slipped even deeper inside of her.
The room was filled with the sound of their ragged breaths and the slap of skin against skin as Jude set a punishing rhythm, driving her to the edge of oblivion. Naya surrendered herself completely to the pleasure he was giving her, her body responding eagerly to his every touch.
Jude's movements were primal and possessive, his hands gripping her hips with a firmness that left marks on her skin. Naya's senses were overwhelmed with the intensity of their connection, the raw passion that flowed between them like a wildfire.
As fun as it was to ravage Naya from behind, the type of intimacy Jude craved could only be achieved via missionary.
He wanted to look into Naya’s eyes as she clawed at his back, her legs wrapped around his waist as he fucked her as deep as her body would allow.
With a growl of desire, Jude flipped Naya onto her back, his eyes locking with hers as he positioned himself between her legs. The intensity of their gaze fueled the flames of their passion, each moment filled with a raw and unbridled connection that left them both breathless.
As he entered her once more, their bodies moved in perfect harmony, a symphony of desire and need. Naya's nails dug into Jude's back, her legs wrapping around him in a desperate attempt to pull him closer. Their bodies melded together as one, moving in a rhythm that spoke of a deeper connection than words could convey.
Unhooking her right leg from around him, Jude raised it to his shoulder watching as Naya’s eyes went round with pleasure at the change in position.
“Baby, slow and deep,” Naya moaned breathlessly, her hand pressing against Jude’s pelvis as a means of urging him to comply with her request.
Jude's movements became more measured, each thrust deliberate and intense as he filled her with a slow, deep rhythm that sent waves of pleasure crashing over them both. Naya's body arched into his touch, her moans filling the room as they moved together in a dance of passion and desire.
“Like this?” Jude asked as he rolled his hips against Naya’s.
Naya could only nod in response, her tear filled eyes locked with Jude's as they moved together in perfect synchrony. The intensity of their connection deepened with each thrust, their bodies becoming one in a symphony of desire and need.
As they reached the pinnacle of their passion, Naya's body tensed with anticipation, her breath coming in ragged gasps as she felt the heat building within her. Jude's movements grew more urgent, his grip on her tightening as they spiraled towards ecstasy.
And when they finally reached the peak of their pleasure, it was as if time stood still. Naya cried out in bliss, her body trembling with the force of her release. Jude followed soon after, his own climax washing over him in a wave of pure ecstasy.
“Fuck,” he groaned as he collapsed onto Naya, their bodies still entwined in the aftermath of their passion. The room was filled with the sound of their heavy breathing, the lingering scent of sex hanging in the air around them.
“I love you,” Naya whispered, her voice soft and filled with emotion as she traced her fingers over Jude's sweat-dampened skin. Jude lifted his head to meet her gaze, his eyes full of tenderness and love.
"I love you too, Naya," he replied, his voice filled with sincerity as he pressed a gentle kiss to her lips.
“I could stay like this forever,” Naya smiled softly against Jude’s mouth, her arms wrapping around his shoulders as Jude held her close, savoring the moment of intimacy between them. The world outside seemed to fade away as they lay entwined in each other's arms, their hearts beating as one.
“So could I, but if you don’t let me pull out sometime soon I’m going to end up fucking you again,” Jude chuckled, the mischievous glint in his eyes returning as he teased Naya, making her giggle in response. With a gentle movement, he eased himself out of her, causing a shiver to run down her spine at the loss of his warmth inside her.
“I would’ve let you go to sleep in it,” Naya pouted.
Jude's laughter filled the room as he pulled Naya close, wrapping her in his arms. "I promise you'll have plenty of opportunities for that," he murmured, his voice laced with affection.
As they settled into each other's embrace, the world outside faded into the background, leaving only the two of them in a bubble of contentment and love. Naya sighed happily, feeling completely at peace in Jude's arms.
With a soft smile, Jude pressed a kiss to Naya's forehead, his heart full with love for the woman in his arms. In that moment, they were simply two souls intertwined in a dance of passion and love, bound together by an unbreakable bond.

Sebastian Vettel Elected LupoLeo Personality of the Year 2024: "A Great Honor!"
Award presentation on November 23rd in Braunschweig
The youth committee of the LupoLeo Awards has decided: Former racing driver Sebastian Vettel is the LupoLeo "Personality of the Year" 2024. The young people aged 14 to 18 chose the four-time Formula 1 world champion for his diverse social commitment. In addition, the youth committee selected ten projects for the jury's selection of the "Project Award" from the 33 projects that were finally nominated by the non-profit analysis and consulting company PHINEO from the 235 registrations. The prominent jury of the LupoLeo Award, chaired by Dr. Brigitte Mohn (including singer Peter Maffay, former ski racer Felix Neureuther, doctor and television presenter Dr. Eckart von Hirschhausen and television presenter Wolfram Kons), will now choose the three project winners.
The LupoLeo Award, endowed with a total of 100,000 euros, is the largest funding award for commitment to children and young people in Germany, and this year's motto is "For a healthy future for our children and our planet." It will be awarded at a celebratory gala on November 23, 2024 in the Braunschweig State Theater. The "Personality of the Year" category honors a public figure who is committed to children and young people and promotes children's development through their work or appearance. In addition to Sebastian Vettel, the comedian, singer and actress Carolin Kebekus, as well as the chemist, science journalist and YouTuber Mai Thi Nguyen-Kim, were in the final selection for the award, which comes with 20,000 euros in funding. Ultimately the young people chose Vettel, who, after his active career as a racing driver, is increasingly committed to environmental and climate protection. With his V5 Projects he raises awareness and explains to the public the importance of these issues. His commitment includes, for example, projects to protect biodiversity (Buzzin' Corner insect hotels on and outside Formula 1 tracks), or he also addresses the topic of sustainability in motorsport under the campaign name "Race Without Trace." "It is an honor and a pleasure for me to be awarded the LupoLeo Award. Whether at home, at school or in public, more and more children and young people are committed to the earth and their own future. This inspires me as a family man and shows how important our future generations are for us and our planet. Whether healthy oceans, intact forests or the energy transition, I am convinced that we can only master these issues together in a positive and future-oriented manner. And this is exactly what I want to make my contribution," commented Vettel immediately after he heard about his election.
A Worthy Award Winner
"We really had a hard time deciding on a 'Personality of the Year'. All the celebrities, and especially the three finalists, have a great commitment to children and young people with an environmental connection," said Leonardo Massimo, chairman of the youth committee. "Sebastian Vettel uses his fame and is active in many subject areas, which really appealed to us. In our opinion, he is the deserving 'Person of the Year.'" "We are impressed by the commitment of the young people in the committee. They discussed intensively and were all very passionate about it. We congratulate Sebastian Vettel on behalf of the entire LupoLeo Award team on his election. He is a worthy winner," emphasize the two LupoLeo Award initiators, Jürgen Brinkmann (Chairman of the BRAWO GROUP) and Robert Lübenoff (Chairman of the fit4future foundation) together.

10 Stars Who Flew The Flag For Sustainable Fashion In 2021
2021 has seen the fashion industry ramping up its efforts to reduce its impact on the planet. But it’s not just brands that are taking action, with a number of celebrities, too, flying the flag for sustainable fashion this year. Whether by wearing vintage or opting for an eco-minded designer, A-listers have a powerful role to play in influencing our shopping habits, and making conscious fashion the norm.
Tumblr media
Bella Hadid
Bella Hadid is well-known for her love of vintage, with her penchant for archival Jean Paul Gaultier, Comme des Garçons and Stella McCartney-era Chloé only continuing to grow this year. She’s also added some more unexpected brands into the mix, including a micro skirt from Noughties favourite Abercrombie & Fitch.
Tumblr media
Kendall Jenner
Another JPG obsessive, Kendall Jenner has given us some of our favourite vintage looks of the year, including this printed sheer number by the French brand. The model is also a fan of eco-conscious brand Havre Studio, which restores and refits vintage men’s suits found at flea markets in Mexico City.
Tumblr media
Rihanna
From Chanel to Dior by John Galliano, Rihanna’s shown off a series of envy-inducing vintage pieces in 2021. She’s also continued to champion New York-born and London-based designer Conner Ives, who repurposes vintage jerseys and silk scarves as part of his approach.
Tumblr media
Angelina Jolie
Angelina Jolie is known for her environmental work, so it’s no surprise that the actor and activist has taken a conscious approach to her wardrobe this year. For a trip to Paris in July, she opted for looks from both Gabriela Hearst and Chloé, the latter of which gained B-Corp status this year. Later on, her children appeared on the red carpet wearing past looks from her wardrobe, including her 2014 Oscars gown.
Tumblr media
Emma Watson
Another star known for her environmental activism, Emma Watson has also championed a number of eco-minded brands this year. The actor wore an upcycled Harris Reed dress to the Earthshot Prize ceremony, while opting for anEmilia Wickstead look made using recycled yarn to meet Al Gore. Watson also later chose a full-look by Scandi upcycling brand Rave Review during Cop26, the United Nations climate conference, in November.
Tumblr media
Zendaya
Zendaya has delivered some of her best looks to date in 2021, including a series of vintage pieces – ranging from ’90s Versace to Noughties Roberto Cavalli. With the British Vogue October issue cover star revealing she’s creating an archive with stylist Law Roach, it just goes to show how a slice of fashion history can make a real statement on the red carpet.
Tumblr media
Timothée ChalametIt’s no secret that Timothée Chalamet sets the internet alight with every look he steps out in – which is why it’s great news that he’s been championing sustainably-focused brands. They include Stella McCartney, a favourite of his, as well as pieces from Prada’s Re-Nylon range – made from discarded fishing nets and other plastic waste.
Tumblr media
Lorde
Lorde showed her commitment to sustainable fashion by wearing not one but two eco-minded looks on the night of the Met Gala. First came the embellished separates by Emily Bode, which celebrated craft and featured charms, beads and pennies dating back to the 1890s. Then, there was the after-party dress by Collina Strada (a brand that she also chose for her “Solar Power” video).
Tumblr media
Jaime XieBling Empire star Jaime Xie made a point of wearing vintage during fashion month, including an instantly-recognisable sculpted dress from Balenciaga spring/summer 2008, a printed dress from Versace’s menswear spring/summer 2005 collection, and a Dior spring/summer 2004 silk dress, from when the house was under the helm of John Galliano.
Tumblr media
The Duchess Of Cambridge
Arguably the most famous repeat-wearer out there, the Duchess of Cambridge chose to rewear two Jenny Packham gowns (including one that was a decade old) for her appearances at the Earthshot Award ceremony and Royal Variety Show this year. Away from the red carpet, Kate also championed sustainability, opting for a recycled vest from Ganni during Cop26, and a top-handle bag from British brand Tusting earlier on in the year.

After battling a series of injuries early in his minor league career, Kyle made his major league debut for the Yankees in 2018 when Gary Sánchez was sidelined. After starting his major league career 0-for-22, the longest hitless streak to start a Yankee career of any position player ever, he had his first major league hit, a home run, on July 1 against the Boston Red Sox. His next two hits, on July 3 and July 4 against the Atlanta Braves, were also circuit blasts, making him the ninth MLB player since 1920 to have three home runs as his first three hits. On September 16, 2020, Higashioka hit three home runs in a game against the Toronto Blue Jays to became the 24th Yankee to hit three HR in a game. In 2006, MLB opened its first Urban Youth Academy in Compton, CA. Among the athletes who attended the inaugural camp was Higashioka. He grew up roughly 25 miles away in Huntington Beach, looking for any and every opportunity to achieve his goal of playing professional baseball. He never forgot the impact the MLB Youth Academy had on him and the trajectory of his career. He spent numerous offseasons volunteering his time to support the social reach of the program. The academy focuses on Inner City youth, and assists after-school programs, preparing kids for any type of life, whether it's professional baseball or getting in the workforce. Kyle has embraced the causes of the Special Operations Warrior Foundation, which ensures complete post-secondary educational support and additional educational opportunities for eligible surviving children of fallen Special Operations Personnel and children of all Medal of Honor Recipients; and provides immediate financial assistance to severely wounded, ill, and injured Special Operations Personnel.
Four-time Manager of the Year Buck Showalter, in his first season at the helm of the Mets last season, led the team to a 101-win campaign en route to the best skipper trophy. During a 30-year managerial career, Showalter has amassed 1,652 victories managing the Yankees, Diamondbacks, Rangers, Orioles, and Mets. Like Thurman, Showalter was drafted by the Bronx Bombers, and is a member of the Cape Cod Baseball League Hall of Fame. (Thurman led the Chatham A's to their first league title with a .420 batting average, while Showalter, playing for the Hyannis Mets, won the league batting title with a .434 average). Showalter was an All-American and set the Mississippi State record for batting average in a season by hitting .459 during the 1977 season.
Showalter participated in the Amazin’ Mets Foundation’s second annual Homeruns & Highballs fundraiser last July, the team’s largest fundraising event of the season. AMF is committed to providing needed services and opportunities to children, families and underserved groups in neighborhoods and communities to inspire change and make a lasting impact on and off the field. On the 21st anniversary of 9/11, Showalter and the team paid tribute to the first responders during the game against the Marlins. While managing Baltimore, Buck supported the LUNGevity Foundation, a charity inspired by the Orioles late public relations director Monica Pence Barlow.
The homegrown smiling, starting centerfielder Brandon Nimmo was a first round pick by New York in the 2011 MLB draft, and made his big league debut for the Mets in 2016. The seven-year veteran enjoyed his finest season last year, recording 159 hits, 30 doubles, and 64 RBI with 580 at bats in 151 games, all career highs. His 16 home runs fell one short of equaling his lifetime best of 17 circuit blasts. During the off season, the Cheyanne, Wyoming native signed a nine-year contract with the Mets. Nimmo played for Team Italy in the World Baseball Classic in 2017.
During the off season, Nimmo dressed as an elf at the Mets annual holiday party. Last season, Nimmo held a special sandlot baseball game for local Little Leaguers at Flushing’s Hinton Park on July 8 with two dozen Little Leaguers taking part. Following a pre-game pep talk, Nimmo spent much of the game pitching to the kids, playing the outfield, and giving players fist bumps when they made a good play. Nimmo has also taken part in the fundraiser Call of Duty: Warzone Charity Royale to support veterans with teammate Pete Alonso. Nimmo was named the Mets recipient of the 2022 Heart and Hustle Award, awarded to players who demonstrate a passion for the game of baseball and best embodies the values, spirit and traditions of the game, by the MLB Players Alumni Association.

Joseph Evans Brown (July 28, 1891 – July 6, 1973) was an American actor and comedian, remembered for his amiable screen persona, comic timing, and enormous elastic-mouth smile. He was one of the most popular American comedians in the 1930s and 1940s, with films like A Midsummer Night's Dream (1935), Earthworm Tractors (1936), and Alibi Ike (1935). In his later career Brown starred in Some Like It Hot (1959), as Osgood Fielding III, in which he utters the film's famous punchline "Well, nobody's perfect."
Brown was born on July 28, 1891, in Holgate, Ohio, near Toledo, into a large family of Welsh descent. He spent most of his childhood in Toledo. In 1902, at the age of ten, he joined a troupe of circus tumblers known as the Five Marvelous Ashtons, who toured the country on both the circus and vaudeville circuits. Later he became a professional baseball player. Despite his skill, he declined an opportunity to sign with the New York Yankees to pursue his career as an entertainer. After three seasons he returned to the circus, then went into vaudeville and finally starred on Broadway. He gradually added comedy to his act, and transformed himself into a comedian. He moved to Broadway in the 1920s, first appearing in the musical comedy Jim Jam Jems.
In late 1928, Brown began making films, starting the next year with Warner Brothers. He quickly became a favorite with child audiences, and shot to stardom after appearing in the first all-color all-talking musical comedy On with the Show (1929). He starred in a number of lavish Technicolor musical comedies, including Sally (1929), Hold Everything (1930), Song of the West (1930), and Going Wild (1930). By 1931, Brown had become such a star that his name was billed above the title in the films in which he appeared.
He appeared in Fireman, Save My Child (1932), a comedy in which he played a member of the St. Louis Cardinals, and in Elmer, the Great (1933) with Patricia Ellis and Claire Dodd and Alibi Ike (1935) with Olivia de Havilland, in both of which he portrayed ballplayers with the Chicago Cubs.
In 1933 he starred in Son of a Sailor with Jean Muir and Thelma Todd. In 1934, Brown starred in A Very Honorable Guy with Alice White and Robert Barrat, in The Circus Clown again with Patricia Ellis and with Dorothy Burgess, and with Maxine Doyle in Six-Day Bike Rider.
Brown was one of the few vaudeville comedians to appear in a Shakespeare film; he played Francis Flute in the Max Reinhardt/William Dieterle film version of Shakespeare's A Midsummer Night's Dream (1935) and was highly praised for his performance. He starred in Polo Joe (1936) with Carol Hughes and Richard "Skeets" Gallagher, and in Sons o' Guns. In 1933 and 1936, he became one of the top 10 earners in films.
He left Warner Brothers to work for producer David L. Loew, starring in When's Your Birthday? (1937). In 1938, he starred in The Gladiator, a loose adaptation of Philip Gordon Wylie's 1930 novel Gladiator that influenced the creation of Superman. He gradually switched to making "B" pictures.
In 1939, Brown testified before the House Immigration Committee in support of a bill that would allow 20,000 German-Jewish refugee children into the U.S. He later adopted two refugee children.
At age 50 when the U.S. entered World War II, Brown was too old to enlist. Both of his biological sons served in the military during the war. In 1942, Captain Don E. Brown, was killed when his Douglas A-20 Havoc crashed near Palm Springs, California.
Even before the USO was organized, Brown spent a great deal of time traveling, at his own expense, to entertain troops in the South Pacific, including Guadalcanal, New Zealand and Australia, as well as the Caribbean and Alaska. He was the first to tour in this way and before Bob Hope made similar journeys. Brown also spent many nights working and meeting servicemen at the Hollywood Canteen. He wrote of his experiences entertaining the troops in his book Your Kids and Mine. On his return to the U.S., Brown brought sacks of letters, making sure they were delivered by the Post Office. He gave shows in all weather conditions, many in hospitals, sometimes doing his entire show for a single dying soldier. He signed autographs for everyone. For his services to morale, Brown became one of only two civilians to be awarded the Bronze Star during World War II.
His concern for the troops continued into the Korean War, as evidenced by a newsreel featuring his appeal for blood donations to aid the U.S. and UN troops there that was featured in the season 4 episode of M*A*S*H titled "Deluge".[5]
In 1948, he was awarded a Special Tony Award for his work in the touring company of Harvey.[1][6]
He had a cameo appearance in Around the World in 80 Days (1956), as the Fort Kearney stationmaster talking to Fogg (David Niven) and his entourage in a small town in Nebraska. In the similarly epic film It's a Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World (1963), he had a cameo as a union official giving a speech at a construction site in the climactic scene. On television, he was the mystery guest on What's My Line? during the episode on January 11, 1953.
His best known postwar role was that of aging millionaire Osgood Fielding III in Billy Wilder's 1959 comedy Some Like It Hot. Fielding falls for Daphne (Jerry), played by Jack Lemmon in drag; at the end of the film, Lemmon takes off his wig and reveals to Brown that he is a man, to which Brown responds "Well, nobody's perfect", one of the more celebrated punchlines in film.
Another of his notable postwar roles was that of Cap'n Andy Hawks in MGM's 1951 remake of Show Boat, a role that he reprised onstage in the 1961 New York City Center revival of the musical and on tour. Brown performed several dance routines in the film, and famed choreographer Gower Champion appeared along with first wife Marge. Brown's final film appearance was in The Comedy of Terrors (1964).
Brown was a sports enthusiast, both in film and personally. Some of his best films were the "baseball trilogy" which consisted of Fireman, Save My Child (1932), Elmer, the Great (1933) and Alibi Ike (1935). He was a television and radio broadcaster for the New York Yankees in 1953. His son Joe L. Brown became the general manager of the Pittsburgh Pirates for more than 20 years. Brown spent Ty Cobb's last days with him, discussing his life.
Brown's sports enthusiasm also led to him becoming the first president of PONY Baseball and Softball (at the time named Pony League) when the organization was incorporated in 1953. He continued in the post until late 1964, when he retired. Later he traveled additional thousands of miles telling the story of PONY League, hoping to interest adults in organizing baseball programs for young people. He was a fan of thoroughbred horse racing, a regular at the racetracks in Del Mar and Santa Anita.
Brown was caricatured in the Disney cartoons Mickey's Gala Premiere (1933), Mother Goose Goes Hollywood (1938), and The Autograph Hound (1939); all contain a scene in which he is seen laughing so loud that his mouth opens extremely wide. According to the official biography Daws Butler: Characters Actor, Daws Butler used Joe E. Brown as inspiration for the voices of two Hanna-Barbera cartoon characters: Lippy the Lion (1962) and Peter Potamus (1963–1966).
He also starred in his own comic strip in the British comic Film Fun between 1933 and 1953
Brown married Kathryn Francis McGraw in 1915. The marriage lasted until his death in 1973. The couple had four children: two sons, Don Evan Brown (December 25, 1916 – October 8, 1942; Captain in the United States Army Air Force, who was killed in the crash of an A-20B Havoc bomber while serving as a ferry pilot)[8] and Joe LeRoy "Joe L." Brown (September 1, 1918 – August 15, 2010), and two daughters, Mary Katherine Ann (b. 1930) and Kathryn Francis (b. 1934). Both daughters were adopted as infants.
Joe L. Brown shared his father's love of baseball, serving as general manager of the Pittsburgh Pirates from 1955 to 1976, and briefly in 1985, also building the 1960 and 1971 World Series champions. Brown's '71 Pirates featured baseball's first all-black starting nine.
Brown began having heart problems in 1968 after suffering a severe heart attack, and underwent cardiac surgery. He died from arteriosclerosis on July 6, 1973 at his home in Brentwood, California, three weeks before his 82nd birthday. He is interred at Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Glendale, California.
For his contributions to the film industry, Brown was inducted into the Hollywood Walk of Fame in 1960 with a motion pictures star located at 1680 Vine Street.
In 1961, Bowling Green State University renamed the theatre in which Brown appeared in Harvey in the 1950s as the Joe E. Brown Theatre. It was closed in 2011.
Holgate, Ohio, his birthplace, has a street named Joe E. Brown Avenue. Toledo, Ohio has a city park named Joe E. Brown Park at 150 West Oakland Street.
Rose Naftalin's popular 1975 cookbook includes a cookie named the Joe E. Brown.[14][15] Brown was a frequent customer of Naftalin's Toledo restaurant.
Flatrock Brewing Company in Napoleon, Ohio offers several brown ales such as Joe E. Coffee And Vanilla Bean Brown Ale, Joe E. Brown Hazelnut, Chocolate Peanut Butter Joe E. Brown, Joe E Brown Chocolate Pumpkin, and Joe E. (Brown Ale).

The Maritime Edit
One of Canada’s greatest entertainers, the multi-talented, hard working, ahead of her time, brilliant Mary Walsh, the Queen of Comedy.
Early life
Walsh was born in St. John's, Newfoundland, the daughter of Mary and Leo Walsh, a merchant marine turned firefighter on commercial vessels. She's the 7th of 8 children. She is also of Irish ancestry.
Career
Walsh studied theatre in Toronto at Ryerson University but dropped out to work with the CODCO comedy troupe on a series of stage shows, which eventually evolved into a sketch comedy series. The CODCO series ran from 1987 to 1992 on CBC Television.
This Hour Has 22 Minutes
In 1992, she began to work with former co-star Rick Mercer and former CODCO co-stars Cathy Jones and Greg Thomey to create a new television series called This Hour Has 22 Minutes. The show would be a parody of the nightly news and would poke fun at Canadian and international politics. 22 Minutes received strong ratings during its earlier seasons and Walsh's character Marg Delahunty became famous for buttonholing politicians and submitting them to satirical interviews. Usually Marg Delahunty would recite a scripted piece intended to humiliate the politician, often by providing criticism and "grandmotherly" advice. Sometimes Marg appeared as "Marg, Princess Warrior", a parody of the title character of Xena: Warrior Princess portrayed by Lucy Lawless. Walsh is also noted for her comical segment chronicling the Canadian Auto Workers Union's tense blockade of the Volvo Halifax Assembly plant in 1998. In 2007, she revived Marg Delahunty for the Royal Canadian Air Farce's 300th episode. On October 24, 2011, Walsh was once again in the spotlight as she reprised the role of Marg Delahunty conducting an ambush interview of Toronto Mayor Rob Ford at his home. Ford's reaction and alleged verbal abuse directed at 911 operator made national headlines.
Other work[
Walsh's other television work included the short-run sitcoms Dooley Gardens in 1999, Hatching, Matching and Dispatching and she had a guest starring role as Miranda Cahill on the CBC television series, Republic of Doyle. She created the CBC program Mary Walsh: Open Book, a talk show about books and literature, in 2003.
Besides TV acting, she has worked on movies such as Mambo Italiano, Geraldine's Fortune, Rain, Drizzle and Fog, Buried on Sunday, The Divine Ryans, Young Triffie and Violet.
2004 saw Walsh host a segment on the CBC documentary series The Greatest Canadian, in which she championed the case for Sir Frederick Banting (the Nobel prize-winning discoverer of insulin) as the greatest Canadian who ever lived.
In June 2007, she hosted the Pride Toronto Gala & Awards ceremony.
On December 15, 2007, Walsh made national news with a story about her upcoming special, Nudity, Sexuality, Violence and Coarse Language, in which a large group of people who went and stripped naked standing next to St. John's Harbour in -11° Celsius (12.2° Fahrenheit) temperature to be filmed as a part of the show's closing. Walsh herself did not go nude.
In 2017, Walsh published her debut novel, Crying for the Moon.
Directing
Walsh made her feature directorial debut with the 2007 movie Young Triffie. She was the first Newfoundlander in six years to have a film in general release across Canada.
Personal life
Walsh has battled alcoholism. The Toronto Star reported that the end of CODCO coincided with the end of Walsh's active alcoholism, with Walsh stating "which was a damn good thing because I could have never done This Hour Has 22 Minutes if I'd been drinking."
Honours
Performing arts
She won Best Supporting Actress at the Atlantic Film Festival in 1992 for her performance in Mike Jones' Secret Nation.
On November 4, 2006, Walsh and Ed MacDonald picked up a Gemini Award for the best writing in a comedy or variety program for their work in Hatching, Matching and Dispatching.
She has won 18 Gemini Awards.
Walsh received a Governor General's Performing Arts Award for Lifetime Artistic Achievement, Canada's highest honour in the performing arts, in 2012.
Charity and activism[
A sufferer of macular degeneration, she has served from time to time as a spokesperson for the Canadian National Institute for the Blind (CNIB).
In 1993, Walsh was chosen to deliver the prestigious Graham Spry lecture which was broadcast nationally on CBC Radio.
In 1994, Walsh addressed the United Nations Global Conference on Development in New York. She has also served as a spokesperson for Oxfam, Canada's human rights campaign, and in 2010 received Oxfam's Spirit of Change Award, in recognition of her years of dedication to eradicating poverty and ensuring public services for all.
On May 29, 1998, Mary Walsh received an Honorary Doctor of Laws from Trent University
McGill University honoured Walsh with an honorary doctorate during the November 2008 convocation ceremony. Her speech to the class of 2008 focused on political satire.

French filmmaker Alice Guy-Blaché was a contemporary of the famed Lumière brothers, and was in many ways just as influential in the invention of cinema, yet 49 years after her death, she remains widely unknown. Guy-Blaché first encountered the new medium as the secretary of Léon Gaumont, founder of the Gaumont film studio. She apparently expressed boredom with the nonfictional “demonstration films” being produced by the studio and asked permission to make her own work, with a fictional storyline. The resulting work, La Fée aux Choux (The Cabbage Fairy), made in 1896, tells the whimsical tale of a woman who grows children in a cabbage patch and is widely considered the first ever narrative film. Guy-Blaché went on to make over 1000 films during her lifetime, driven by what she dubbed “fertile imagination”, and is thought to have coined the idea of filming on location as well as shooting one of the first close-ups.

ON NATHAN
Anonymous said:
Hey there! I just had a question about Nathan Chen’s invalidated 2T at COR. Specifically, I don’t understand why it was invalidated in the first place. I thought that the Zayak rule only applied to triples and quads, and even if it didn’t, I swear skaters (Hanyu, 2012 worlds off the top of my head) have performed 3 2T’s in a program and had them validated. If you could clear that up, it’d be really cool! Thank you!
Hi, the current Zayak rule applies to double jumps, too. According to the latest technical handbook, skaters can include a maximum of 2 attempts of the same double jump in their free skate. The only difference is that these 2 attempts can be both solos or both in combos or one solo/one combo without any deduction to base value. For triples and quads one of the two attempts must be in combo or sequence otherwise the second jump’s BV will be reduced by 30%. This application to doubles is a relatively new change in the rule book (if I’m not mistaken, starting from the 2014-2015 season). Back in 2012 such was not the case, so you’d see quite a few skaters doing a +2T+2T and a +2T combo in their free skate.

I'm fine with Yuzu in second, but I'm a bit confused with Nathan's 3A + 2T<*. If 2T< is an invalid element would 3A not be a Jump Repetition and its BV would not be smaller?
ISU rule has it that a combo containing one valid and one invalid jump is still recognized as a combo, though only the valid element will receive base value. Nathan’s 2T was invalidated because of the Zayak rule, however his 3A was counted as performed in a combo and so was awarded the full BV :)
By the way, that is the rule for jump combos. If the jumps are performed in a sequence instead, a unit containing one valid jump and one or more invalid jumps would be considered as a solo jump for scoring purpose.

my favorite COR highlight was Nathan's pit stains, so charming
I’ve said this before and I repeat it now, somebody needs to do something about that kid’s costumes this year. Really, seriously.
ON JANNY

Hi! I want to ask, if you would be so kind, to share your opinion on Janny's unexpected fall. I noticed that she was also struggling with a lot of her jumps at practice during rostelecom cup as well, which is a bit unlike her. Do you think it was just a bad day for her? I've heard some ppl say that she's grown taller (it's hard for me to tell tbh), so maybe do you think it could be growth issues? I really hope not but I want to hear from someone's who watched skating longer than I have <3
Unexpected is putting it lightly :)) I was watching the event live and when Janny fell I yelped even louder than when Yuzu landed his quad Lutz :)) It was so completely unthinkable, which just goes to show how otherworldly consistent she has been for the last 2 years.
Janny did struggle a bit with her jumps all that week, even during the exhibition, but I don’t think it’s caused by any major systemic issue. I remember she was having difficulties during practice and warm up at Helsinki earlier this year too, but when it came to the real thing she went out and delivered reliably as usual. Her jumps during the SP at CoR look sure enough to me, as were all her jumps up until that last double Axel in the FS.
Bottom line, I’d chalk it up to Janny simply having a not so good couple of days. She deserves a break some time, anyway. Let’s look forward to how she performs at NHK before working ourselves into a panic.

Do you think Medvedeva deserved 150 points with that fall?
No I don’t think it was a 150-point FS, but not because of the fall. Janny got the right deduction in TES for that so it’s not an issue. I would lower her GOE for the 3F+3T. Her PR on the 3F has gotten a lot better but on the 3T it was still quite bad. Same goes for the 3T in her 3S combo. I’d give her an edge call on the 3Lz too, so in total that’s about 4 points off her TES.
Her PCS was also a bit excessive, as usual. Judge 7 in particular obviously didn’t bother reading that part of the new rule in which the ISU explicitly cautions against awarding 10 in PCS to any program containing a fall. Oh well. I would not have given her any more than 9 in SS and PE. Her CO and IN in Anna Karenina are much improved compared to what we’ve been seeing so far, but it’s still not 9.50+ material either. Overall I’d knock another 3 to 4 points off of her PCS. Considering her lead over Caro, that wouldn’t have changed the final standing though.
ON YUZU

I mean i would have loved for yuzu to take 1st, but i can't be that sad considering (a) nathan showed tf up and skated to win and (b) for the first competition in the series it's a good skate by yuzu and the more important thing is qualifying for the final
I’d say the most important thing for him this season is the Olympics :) Anyhow it’s only the first GP and this was the best result he’s ever had at this stage of the season so, we’re good here :)

oh man three points aaaaaa so close! Brian was so funny though "hey it was better than skate canada" and that 4lz!!!!! aaa our boy!!!
As someone who has been following Yuzu for even longer than Brian did, I totally agree. It was better than any Skate Canada, by a mile.

What is your opinion about the score of Hanyu's FS at CoR?
More or less in line with my expectation. The GOE on his Lutz was a bit high. It’s at best a +1 jump IMO. Other than that no question about TES. On the PCS side his SS and TR were fair. PE CO and IN a tiny bit higher than I thought - it was not exactly his best showing. Combining the 3 I’d probably knock about half a point off his PCS. Overall, I’d score him 1 point or so lower. As said, nothing out of line.

... yuzu's antics are 9gag's instagram... wHY. IM. why is he like this,,,,
Yes I saw it and I laughed my ass off at it too. Petition for Yuzu to start going by another middle name, Memelord?

Hi. I love your blog. This doesn't have much to do with rules and technical things: you noticed that Janny and Yuzu had some "tension" (good Tension), they were much more timid with each other, as they were afraid to touch. I don't know if I'm imagining things, but I think they are very aware of each other. They get along well, they're friends. But I think they are inlove. Imagine how romantic it would be if two world champions from different countries fall in love. (hahaha, sorry)
Aha, maybe it’s just me being in my natural state of borderline sociopathic insensitivity but I really didn’t notice anything unusual going on between Janny and Yuzu. To me they looked like they were having a good time as always during the gala and after.
I, for one, would be a most absolutely happy auntie-camper if those two children have feelings for each other though. Wouldn’t they make the cutest of couple!
