Always there: Hyunjin x Reader x Changbin
Your friend makes you feel bad after a night out at the club, but luckily, you’ve always had Hyunjin and Changbin to comfort you. Or maybe more than that, if that’s what you want. Is that what you want? Content: Smut, Hurt/Comfort Warnings: Virgin reader, use of the word 'prude', reader is shamed for being a virgin (not by SKZ), kissing, fingering, oral f! receiving, p in v sex, no mention of using protection WC: 4800

Saturday mornings are great. After a long and tiring work week, you want nothing more than a day to sleep in and relax, finally letting the stress melt away from your body and mind. When you roll out of bed with a yawn you wobble into the kitchen, ready to make yourself a cup of coffee.
Maybe you would read a book today? Or you could always catch up on that k-drama you’ve been wanting to watch–
“Good morning, sleepyhead.”
Strange. That almost sounded like the voice of Hwang Hyunjin, which is impossible, seeing as you just woke up and you live alone. Right?
Wrong.
“Hyunjin, what the fuck are you doing in my house?” You groan as the coffee maker whirs to life, turning around to shoot your best friend a glare. He holds his hands up in mock defense, but your glare is no longer directed at him. It’s at the whistling coming from the bathroom, your bathroom, as Changbin strides out and dries his hands on his pants.
“I’m seriously regretting giving you both a spare set of keys,” you mumble. Your whining goes unheard over Changbin’s shouting.
“Ooh, coffee! Can I have some?”
You have never known true peace. Not since Hyunjin and Changbin came into your life. Though as much as you fake groan and moan, you love them both deeply and unconditionally. Your friends don’t really have a concept of personal space, which is very obvious this morning in particular, but you all know that if you were truly bothered and wanted them to leave, they would. You don’t ask them to. You are slightly more aware of your unruly appearance, bedhead and long t-shirt that covers your legs and lack of pants, so you walk back into your room and throw on a pair of sweats.
Once your coffee is retrieved, you lay lazily on the couch and turn on the TV. Your legs are stretched out across Hyunjin and your back is leaning against Changbin.
“You guys are so annoying,” you grumble. You sip idly out of your mug and let out a sigh, melting in between the two men.
“You’re awfully snappy today,” Hyunjin says with a laugh. “Besides, you know you love us.”
“I’m snappy because you buffoons decided to invade my home on my day off,” you say with petulance. You all know you don’t really mean your words though, so after a loud and dramatic sigh the topic is all but forgotten.
Until your friend calls.
“Shit,” you curse under your breath.
“Why is Cheryl calling you?” Hyunjin asks, leaning over to peak at your phone.
“Ugh, we had plans tonight. I completely forgot,” you say, swiping to answer her call.
“Hey girl! We still on for tonight? I really want to go to the club, and Brad said he was going to be there!”
You stifle back a groan before replying: “I don’t know…” You were being honest. Partying has never really been your forte, as much as your friend has tried to push you outside of your comfort zone… it has been a long week and you wanted nothing more than to laze around with Hyunjin and Changbin.
“C’mon! You never go out with me. This is why you still haven’t lost your virginity yet.” You stiffen at her words, letting out a soft chuckle and avoiding looking over at your friends, the ones that you know heard her judgmental words.
“Um.. yeah, sure! I’ll be there,” you finally stammer. Fuck. You really didn’t want to go but you did want to end this phone call. So that’s what you did. Finally bringing yourself to look at your friends, you give them an awkward smile.
“So… I’m going out with Cheryl tonight.”
“We gathered,” Hyunjin laughs. This time you don’t suppress the groan that tumbles out of your mouth.
“It can’t be that bad, can it?” Changbin says. You shoot him a nasty glare that he definitely doesn’t deserve.
“Well, Cheryl is kind of the worst,” Hyunjin agrees with you, though you’re not surprised. He’s never hidden his distaste for your other friend, and he has always been dramatic.
Listening to Hyunjin and Changbin decide if you should go out tonight was much like listening to the angel and the devil on your shoulder… Hyunjin’s protests of how you should just stay in and forget that bitch, versus Changbin’s gentle persuasion of how it’s been a long time since you’ve let yourself let go.
You take Changbin’s advice. And the boys don’t leave the house as you get ready, instead hooting and hollering when you walk out of your room in a little black dress, hair and makeup perfected. You smile sheepishly and try not to blush, but you’re used to their antics by now. When Cheryl comes to pick you up, Hyunjin stands behind you at your door, trying to comfort your nerves.
“Have fun tonight,” he says, rubbing soothing circles into your back before bringing you into an embrace from behind. He rests his head on your shoulder. “Don’t let Cheryl convince you to do anything you’re not comfortable with, yeah?” It’s unspoken what he means, and you wonder if he’s referencing your conversation with Cheryl from earlier before you’re being pushed out the door.
Smoothing your dress, you plaster a fake smile over your face before greeting your friend who is so excited about the evening.
***
You should have listened to Hyunjin.
That’s your first thought as Cheryl drags you into the club. It’s immediately apparent that she doesn’t really have interest in hanging out with you, and that she would much rather cling to her new situationship, Brad. Ugh. You needed a drink.
You do just that, ordering yourself an alcoholic beverage of choice. As you are sitting at the bar, occasionally glancing over at Cheryl, you see some other guy walk up to her and start chatting idly. You have no particular investment in the conversation until you hear her say, “But my friend Y/N is single!” Oh no. No no no.
She always did this. You’re not even sure why you agreed to hang out with her anymore. Maybe because you’re a pushover? You can’t help but wish that Hyunjin and Changbin were here to rescue you from this situation. The thought makes you laugh, knowing that Changbin would try to radiate an intimidating energy to get guys to back off and Hyunjin would cling to you dramatically.
“Hey, pretty girl.” The man approaches and takes the seat on your other side. Taking a deep breath, you turn and give him an awkward smile, already thinking of ways you can turn him down gently.
“Hi,” you respond, staring at your drink. The man immediately starts talking. His name is Drew, he’s like 10 years older than you, and he really likes golfing. You nod politely, but after 10 minutes you realize you haven’t even been able to get a single word in. This guy doesn’t really care about you, you realize, he just wants to hear himself talk.
“Excuse me,” you say, standing up. Drew shoots you a nasty look but dismisses you nonetheless, finding someone else to talk to that hopefully cares more than you do.
“Cheryl,” you say, trying to get your friend’s attention. She’s making out with Brad. Just great. “Cheryl!” You say it again, louder, touching her shoulder in the process.
“What?” She snaps, shooting you a dirty look.
“I want to leave.”
She scoffs at you. “You always do this,” she says, rolling her eyes.
“I don’t care, I’m sorry. I just really want to leave.” “I tried hooking you up with someone! Can’t you just leave with whatever-his-name?”
“I don’t want to leave with Drew,” you respond bluntly.
“Ugh. Can you stop being such a prude? This is why you’re still a virgin.” She turns over to Brad and laughs with him. They’re laughing at you. For not going home and hooking up with a man 10 years older than you. You feel tears prickling in your eyes, being the target of a joke everyone seems to understand but you. Wordlessly, you shoot your friend the nastiest glare you can accomplish in the moment and leave.
You start walking before you can really think. It’s dark outside and cold, and you don’t really know where you are. Cheryl drove, of course. You can’t help but think that the whole night has been one big mistake. Sighing, you take out your phone and text your group chat, knowing exactly who would come and help you in a time like this.
Y/N Starting sharing their location
Y/N: Hey can someone come pick me up
Binnie: 👍 Hyunjinnie: On my way!
You slump against the cold concrete, letting yourself cry a little bit. Sure, you ruin your pretty makeup that you spent so long on, but who the fuck cares at this point? Wiping your eyes, you see a familiar black car pull up. Before you can stand, Changbin is already getting out of the car.
“Are you okay? What happened?” He pulls you to your feet, examining you for any signs of injury. You look at him, lip trembling, but when your eyes meet you can’t help the sobs that escape. “Oh, sweetheart,” he says, pulling you into a big hug. He’s warm, and you can smell the musky scent of his cologne from here. You let it comfort you before pulling away.
“Can we just go home?” You ask.
“Of course,” he says, opening the car door for you to get in. Hyunjin shoots you a worried glance from the driver’s seat, and you give him a pathetic smile.
You notice when Changbin starts playing your favorite songs in an attempt to cheer you up, and admittedly you already feel better, though you don’t speak a word for the rest of the drive.
***
When you finally arrive in your apartment, you’re not surprised when Changbin and Hyunjin follow you in. You let out a loud sigh and face the two men looking at you expectantly.
“It went just about as I expected,” you said with a dry laugh. When neither of your friends say anything, you start speaking. The words come out faster than you’d like and you know that you’re word vomiting, but it’s fine. They were used to it by now. “Cheryl was dismissive the whole night and tried to set me up with this guy she had just met, he was like, 10 years older than me and he kind of gave me the creeps… and when I told her I wanted to leave she told me to just go home with him.” You take a deep breath, gauging their reactions. “When I told her no, she called me a virgin prude and laughed at me, so I left.”
The look of anger immediately spread on their faces and you found your own heating up from embarrassment. You looked down out at the ground, willing the tears that pricked at your lash line to go away.
“Y/N…” Changbin’s gentle voice soothed you and you immediately fell into his embrace. You spare a glance at Hyunjin and know that he’s absolutely furious. You wince.
“How dare she,” he starts. Changbin gives him a warning glare and tightens his grip on you.
Pulling away, you tuck your hair behind your ears and look at them sheepishly.
“Maybe she’s right,” you laugh. “Maybe I should’ve just gone home with some random guy. Maybe I should’ve just lost my virginity and gotten it over with.”
“Don’t say that.” It’s Changbin’s stern voice this time that pulls you out of your thoughts.
“But–”
“No,” they say in unison.
“It’s just… everybody else seems to be okay with going out, partying, loosening up, sleeping with people, and then there’s me.”
“Y/N… there’s a reason why you haven’t… slept with anyone yet, right?” Changbin asks. Hyunjin looks at you expectantly.
“I mean, of course. I was waiting for the right person.”
“So you’ve suddenly changed your mind?” Changbin says softly.
“No, but there’s no right person, Changbin. I don’t know what I’m waiting for anymore, because there’s never going to be that perfect person. I’m never going to be enough—“
“That’s not true,” Hyunjin says sternly. You give him an exasperated glare and turn around toward your room.
“Is there something you’re seeing that I’m not? Because as far as I can tell, that’s the exact truth and you know it.”
“You don’t have to sleep with anybody just because she’s pushing you to. She’s putting a lot of pressure on you and that makes her a bad friend,” Hyunjin says. “Virginity is a stupid, made up concept anyway. Don’t do it if you don’t want to.”
“I do want to, though!” You say, exasperated. “I just want to see what everybody else sees. Maybe I don’t want to fuck around, but I want to have sex!”
Before you know it you’re pushed up against the wall by Hyunjin, his head buried in your neck and his breathing heavy as if he were trying to control himself. His actions make you dizzy and your breath hitches from his contact on your skin.
“Hyune—“
“We could help.”
“What?” Your stomach drops and your breathing increases at his implications. You’re sure you misheard him.
“We could help you, if you want. You’re more than enough to us, and you should know that. Sleeping with us won’t change that, or make it any more true, but if you want to do it that badly, we’re right here.”
You gulp. “You mean both of you…? At the same time?” You allow yourself to look at Changbin who is standing with his arms crossed and his eyes dark.
“If you’re comfortable with that, yeah,” Changbin nods, meeting your eyes before looking away.
“You should want to do it for the first time with someone who really cares for you,” Hyunjin explains. His hands take place on your hips and start to rub small circles and you find yourself arching into him, already seeking his touch. “Not some random guy at the bar whose name you don’t know and won’t even try to make you cum.” You gasp slightly and Hyunjin smirks, his breath hot against your neck. Changbin lessens the space between you and finds himself at your side, mindlessly brushing a strand of hair behind your ear.
“And we really care for you,” Changbin adds. You nod at his words as Hyunjin starts to nip at your skin, letting his tongue trace circles until he finds the spots that make you breathless.
“What… if I’m really bad?” You stutter.
“You don’t have to worry about that. We’ll show you how to do everything… make you feel good. Plus, it’s just us…” Changbin leans in and makes contact with your lips. The kiss is chaste, testing the waters, though you let out a small moan against him. When he smiles against your kiss you smile as well. Alright. You can do this. It’s just Changbin and Hyunjin. You’ve known them forever and you do trust them more than anything, even if they do annoy you and break into your house on your day off.
“Okay,” you say with a shaky breath.
“Yeah?” Hyunjin licks a thick stripe up your neck which makes you hiss, quickly swallowed up when Changbin leans in to kiss you again.
“Yeah.”
You walk to your bedroom and lead the way and even though they had been inside hundreds of times before, this felt different. The air was permeated with the thick scent of desire. You sit on your bed, looking at the floor. “Now what?”
Changbin sits down in front of you, tilting your head up to meet his eyes. “Now you relax and let us make you feel good, okay? You can tell us what you like and what you don’t like, and anytime you want us to stop we will. Immediately. Does that sound good?”
You nod your head, your skin becoming flushed.
“Words, baby.” You don’t admit how those words make your heart jump right out of your chest.
“Right. Yes. Okay.”
Hyunjin sits on the bed next to you and you tilt your head to look at him. He starts by grabbing your hair and pulling you into him to meet his lips, and this time the kiss is hot and full of both desire and anticipation of what is to come.
Meanwhile, Changbin’s hands have come up to touch your thighs. You’re still wearing your dress from your night out so you’re more exposed to him than you usually would be. His large hands touch the insides of your thighs and you don’t even realize that you’re squeezing them together until he is pulling them apart, gently but with intent. His thumbs draw circles on the insides, watching the way you react to each movement.
You let out a breath into the kiss which Hyunjin takes as an opportunity to deepen the kiss, allowing himself the opportunity to swirl his tongue against yours.
When Changbin’s fingers finally make their way to your clothed core you let out a moan. You can’t help it. His two fingers slide up and down the fabric that’s already wet, though he focuses on bringing attention right to your clit. You buck your hips up into his hand.
“So needy,” Hyunjin laughs, tucking a loose strand of hair behind your ear. Breathlessly you look at him in the eyes and turn away, embarrassed.
His fingers make their way to your chin, turning your head to meet his gaze again.
“It’s a good thing,” he says. “You don’t need to hide. Not from us.” With that, he pulls down the front of your dress, revealing your tits to him. He doesn’t break eye contact when his thumbs start to graze over your nipples in soft circles, teasing.
“Baby, can I take these off?” Changbin asks, his thumbs in the waistband of your underwear. You nod your head vigorously, letting out a soft chuckle from both of the men at your eagerness. When you lift your hips Changbin slides the material off of your legs, now discarded somewhere across the room.
The breath he lets out when he looks at your glistening core leaves you dizzy. “So pretty,” he all but whispers. “Just for us.” He wastes no time before touching you again with purpose. When one of his fingers teases your entrance you realize you’re already a writhing pathetic mess for them. He dips his finger into your entrance shallowly, collecting your wetness before taking it and circling it right back to your clit. Hyunjin continues his ministrations as well, thumbing your sensitive nipples while leaving wet kisses across your neck and face.
“You’re doing so good for us,” he whispers against your ear. You whimper. Your eyes are screwed shut, focused on all of the sensations on your body so you don’t even realize it when Changbin’s tongue makes direct contact with your clit, warm and wet. You gasp and lurch forward at the contact.
“What’re you doing?” you moan. “Oh my God, Changbin, what–?”
“It’s okay, I got you baby. I got you.” His tongue flicks up and down against you, and when he pushes his tongue flat against your clit and you feel his warm breath on your entrance, you finally hear the filthy sounds that are coming out of your own mouth. You try to muffle them with your arm but it’s quickly pulled away.
“Don’t,” Hyunjin says. “Let us hear you. Let us hear how good we’re making you feel.”
“It’s so good… Bin… Please don’t stop,” you plead, eyes meeting his from where he sits between your legs.
His finger starts thrusting in and out of your core at the same time Hyunjin’s lips meet your nipple, tongue flicking across one bud while his hand comes to pinch the other. It feels like a well-orchestrated plan plotted against you, you think. You’re babbling now about how close you are and your hand intertwines in Changbin’s hair. You buck your hips up against his mouth, trying to ride out your release and he lets you use his face for your pleasure happily. When he curls his one finger inside you harshly you cum, pulsing tightly on his digit.
You have half the mind to apologize for being so rough and caught up in the moment, but when you finally open your eyes you gasp. Changbin looks at you with all lust and desire and dark eyes, absolutely entranced by you and with your release completely covering his mouth. When Hyunjin comes off of you with a pop he looks quite similar, and it surprises all of you when you initiate the kiss this time, immediately open mouthed and trying to get as much of him as you can.
“Slow down, slow down,” he says with a shallow breath, pushing you away. “Are you okay? Do you want to keep going?”
“Yes, please,” you whine. “I need someone inside of me. Please.” They both gulp, but Hyunjin quickly regains his composure.
“You want just anybody inside you, hmm?” He teases.
“Not just anyone… You, Hyune. Then Changbin. I can take it, please.” They both groan.
“You’re going to be the death of me, you know that?” Hyunjin laughs. He helps you out of your dress completely now and it drops to the floor. You now stare completely bare in front of your friends and you think about covering yourself up but it seems they know you better when a hand reaches for your wrist to stop the motion. The words remain unspoken this time, but you know, not in front of them do you need to hide yourself.
Changbin pushes you down gently to lay down on the bed and he lays on his side next to you. The way he stares at you almost makes you queasy, because you know deep down it’s not just lust and desire, but something more… The need to be with you, to see you, for you to be his implicitly. You wonder if he knows that you already are. That you’ve already belonged to them for the longest time. You kiss him and he kisses you back.
In front of you, Hyunjin pulls down his pants. You prop yourself up on your elbows to watch and try not to let yourself become intimidated. He strokes himself a few times before he positions himself at your entrance. He looks at you, waiting for permission.
“Go ahead, Hyunjin. Please.” Your words are soft but you know he’s heard you when his tip breaches your entrance. It’s already a bit of a stretch and you take a deep breath, tilting your head back. Changbin rubs circles into your arm to soothe you and you find that it works. Hyunjin shallowly thrusts out and then back in, allowing himself to get just a bit deeper. He slowly repeats the action until he’s flush against you, his hips meeting yours. The feeling is foreign but not painful, you decide.
You watch Changbin lick his finger and then move it down to your clit, gently applying pressure. While Hyunjin hasn’t started moving yet, this allows you to relax a little bit more and your brain decides suddenly that it feels really good.
“You’re doing so good for us,” Changbin says, repeating Hyunjin’s words from earlier.
“S’good,” Hyunjin agrees. “Such a good pussy. You feel so good around me, love.” He starts to thrust now, though slow and gentle, and you start moaning. It feels different than anything you’d ever experienced before, though you know you really like it.
“Faster,” you say. Hyunjin follows your directions instantly, watching and scrutinizing every reaction you make to ensure it’s completely pleasurable for you. Changbin’s hands are all over your body, grounding you; his hands rub up and down your arms and your tits, touching any area of skin accessible to him.
Your hips start to buck up to meet Hyunjin’s. You’re getting close, you realize, though when Hyunjin picks up your legs and puts them over his shoulder, you gasp. He’s now reaching impossibly deeper inside you, and at this angle he’s able to completely control the pace. He hits that gummy spot deep inside you, one that you had never achieved reaching yourself before, and when he hits it your orgasm washes over you without warning.
You cum with a cry, pulsing tightly around his cock. His moans are louder and you can tell he’s getting closer too but he fucks you through your orgasm. As your breathing steadies he pulls out of you and releases all over your stomach and you watch in awe.
Taking two fingers, you scoop up his release and put it in your mouth, sucking it off your fingers. The two men groan at your actions which makes you smirk.
“Changbin?” You ask, beckoning the man.
“Are you sure, baby?” He asks, looking into your eyes for any signs of discomfort.
“Want you too,” you say. It’s Hyunjin’s turn to slump next to you and he does so, wrapping his arms around you while Changbin takes his position.
When Changbin pushes into you you let out an unabashed moan, pushing yourself into Hyunjin’s chest to ground yourself. He shushes you and combs his fingers through your hair. The stretch is different this time, as Changbin’s thicker but Hyunjin is longer.
“Feels good, Binnie,” you say.
“I know,” he responds. “I got you. Let me take over, okay?” And he does, at first cautious of his pace to not hurt you, but he soon follows up with a brutal pace that has your head spinning. He feels delicious inside of you just like Hyunjin did, and when you get close this time you don’t feel embarrassed by the loud sounds that come out of your body. You’re so close to your peak, almost there… when Changbin pulls out. You make a sound that comes out as a whine, but before you can complain further you’re flipped onto your hands and knees.
Changbin teases his cock up and down your wet slit, sensitive and already so close to an orgasm, and the sound you make is downright pathetic.
“You want it?” Changbin teases.
“Oh my God, please… Changbin please, I was so close, don’t tease,” you beg. Hyunjin practically coos and his lips meet yours right as Changbin sinks back into you. You feel delirious from the pleasure and it doesn’t take long before you cum again. Hyunjin’s kisses drink up all of the moans and breaths that come from your body as Changbin pounds into you.
Changbin and Hyunjin spit praise at you as you finish, and shortly after you feel Changbin’s release all over your ass. You slump onto the bed, tired, and welcome Hyunjin’s arms around your frame. You nuzzle deeper into his embrace, entirely content. You barely register when Changbin comes to clean you off and then lays next to you. You’re in between your two favorite people in the entire world, completely safe and content. You let out a happy sigh.
“Did you have a good time?” Changbin questions. You almost laugh.
“Of course I did. I couldn’t imagine a better first time. Thank you… Thank you both.”
“Do you think you’ll regret it?” Hyunjin asks.
“No. Never.” You look at his worried gaze and press a firm kiss to his lips. You’re satisfied laying between the two men, relishing their soft touches and warm embraces when you have a thought that makes you laugh.
“Cheryl is going to be thrilled,” you say with an eye roll.
Hyunjin groans. “God. Don’t tell her. She doesn’t deserve to know. In fact, you should block her,” he reasons.
“Yeah. She’s kind of a bitch,” Changbin agrees. You and Hyunjin look at him wide-eyed, not used to him talking about other people like that. Then all three of you laugh. You look at Changbin and can tell that there’s something else that he wants to say.
“I don’t want you to do this with anybody else,” he says with a deep sigh. “I want it to be us. Just me and Hyunjin. I don’t want anybody else to see you this way.” His words carry a deeper meaning and you know it. You bury your head into his chest and Hyunjin’s arms wrap around your waist.
“I love you both. Do you know that?” You say. You’ve told them a hundred times, but the words needed to be said again. Albeit they are now said in a much more intimate context, you will let them interpret it however they want. They both hum in agreement, repeating the words back to you.
You’re not sure what this meant for your friendships or your relationships, but you can’t bring yourself to care. Not now. The three of you fall asleep in your bed that night in an entanglement of arms and limbs, and you sleep peacefully knowing that no matter what, they would be there for you when you wake up. They have always been there, and they always will be. *** A/N: I'm excited to announce that this is part 1/4 of a SKZ threesome series with various members ;) I have big things planned

The Next Night
Summary: An aspiring jazz singer meets Bucky Barnes through her grandfather and invites him to join her and her friends at a dance club.
Length: 4.4 K
Characters: Bucky Barnes, named OFC, named OMC, other minor OCs.
Warnings: brief reference to cannabis use. Otherwise, this is romantic fluff.
Author notes: This one shot is a sequel of sorts to the story Night Music. It is told with the singer as a central character. The music referenced can be found on Spotify. Stomping at the Savoy, performed by Jimmy Dorsey & His Orchestra (original written by Edgar Sampson, lyrics added later by Andy Razaf). Shake, Rattle and Roll (original title in 1940, then changed to Afternoon of a Moax), performed by Charlie Barnet and His Orchestra (music by Charlie Barnet). Shoo-Fly Pie and Apple Pan Dowdy, performed by Stan Kenton Orchestra featuring June Christy (music by Guy Wood, lyrics by Sammy Gallop). It Don’t Mean a Thing (If It Ain’t Got That Swing), performed by Ella Fitzgerald and Duke Ellington and his Orchestra (music by Duke Ellington, lyrics by Irving Mills). The Man I Love, performed by Ella Fitzgerald (any version as they are all sublime), (music by George Gershwin, words by Ira Gershwin).
🎶 🎶 🎶
On the elevator up to the sixth floor apartment of Lia's grandfather, she thought over the response she got at Barney's the night before. It had probably been the best audience she ever performed in front of at the open mic night. The standing ovation to I'll Never Smile Again had been unexpected. It was the first time she performed it live, wanting to honour her grandfather and the love he still had for his late wife, who died when Lia's father was only 6 years old, the youngest of four children. Briskly walking down the hallway to her grandfather's apartment, Lia unlocked the door with her keys, being a frequent visitor to the man who encouraged her to pursue singing. Cheryl, the day nurse / housekeeper came out of the laundry room.
"He's out on the patio," she said to Lia. "He has a guest and is in fine form."
"Oh? Who's visiting him today? Darnell?"
He was a musician whose father performed back in the day with her grandfather. The two sometimes smoked up together, although Darnell often smoked the bulk of the joint. Grandpa usually only took a couple of hits, claiming it helped his appetite.
"No, a new friend." Cheryl looked towards the door out to the patio before leaning towards her. "It's that Bucky Barnes, the guy who used to be the Winter Soldier. He seems nice enough and he's definitely easy on the eyes."
Well, that was interesting. Thanking Cheryl for the heads up, Lia headed towards the door, looking out to where her grandfather sat with a dark-haired man, the latter with his back to the door. She stepped out onto the bright surface, pulling her sunglasses out of her purse and sliding them onto her head.
"Ah, there she is," said her grandfather, raising his hand to her.
The dark-haired man stood up immediately and turned towards her. Cheryl wasn't kidding. Up close, the man was definitely handsome and familiar. She noticed his left hand right away but put her hand out to shake hands with him.
"You must be Bucky," she said. "Cheryl told me Grandpa made a new friend. I'm Lia."
He smiled, shook her hand, then gestured to the chair he had been sitting in, getting another chair from a stack near the door and bringing it over as she kissed her grandfather on the cheek. Letting her have his seat was a thoughtful gesture. As she sat down, she slid her sunglasses on, then looked at the handsome super soldier.
"So, how did you meet Grandpa? He doesn't get out much, being so old, even though he's young at heart."
Bucky looked at her grandfather first then smiled self-consciously.
"I heard you singing from the street and followed your voice to the fire escape of that building over there." He pointed to the older apartment building across the alley. "I climbed the fire escape and sat in the shadows watching and listening. I wanted to see the face that went with that beautiful voice. You're a great singer."
The compliment was sincere and she appreciated it.
"Thank you. That's probably the most original pickup line I've ever heard. Is it really true?"
"100% true," he grinned. "After you left, your grandpa came over to the ledge and called me out of the shadows. Invited me over for bourbon and a cigar, so I came over."
"That probably didn't go over well with Irene." She looked at her grandfather, who winked at her.
"It didn't but we had a good visit before she got here," said Grandpa. "You and Bucky should go out sometime. He loves the music that you love so that's something you two have in common already. It's what your grandma and I started with."
She and Bucky both chuckled, then she leaned towards him.
"Do you like dancing?"
"Depends on the music," he smiled. "If it's to the same music that you sing, then yeah. I enjoy it, although I haven't danced since about 1943."
She was going to ask why then remembered his background. It was weird that this man was as old or older than Grandpa but looked a lot younger. Still, the smile that appeared when she asked him about dancing was quite attractive in its own right.
"Well, there is a club that has swing dancing to some of the older classics every Saturday night. I was going with a group of friends tonight. You're welcome to join us."
"You don't want a grumpy guy like me with you," he answered.
"Why not?" she asked, a hint of a challenge in her voice. "Didn't stop you from watching me sing at Barney's last night." Bucky coughed as he inhaled some cigar smoke the wrong way. "I saw you."
"Told you she's got a mind of her own," grinned Sid. "You should go, show these kids how it's done old school."
A chuckle escaped from Bucky's mouth.
"Not sure I have it in me anymore but sure."
Lia took her phone out, looked up the club and copied the location into a text then waited expectantly for Bucky to give her his phone number. After she entered it she texted him the information, then watched as he saved her number to his contacts.
"Opens at 8 pm but we usually get there around 9. You can wear what you want but my friends and I try to go period appropriate or a little dressy, although with this heat I won't be wearing stockings."
"I'll see what I can scrape together."
For the next hour the three of them talked of several things but it always came back to the music. The fact that Bucky had seen several of her favourites, including Ella Fitzgerald, Billie Holiday and Duke Ellington in person raised her estimation of him immensely. The back and forth between him and her grandfather had her laughing more than once. Although Bucky was invited to stay for lunch he begged off, claiming he needed the time to make himself pretty for the evening. Lia walked with him to the apartment door, waiting as he picked up his breakfast leftovers from the fridge.
"Bagels and lox, huh? Grandpa loves that."
"It's good food," replied Bucky. "We did ask Cheryl to eat with us as I brought plenty."
Glancing at where the housekeeper was preparing lunch, Lia smiled.
"She's a nice lady. Irene, not so much. She wants everything her way." She looked up at him. "If you become a regular visitor try not to get on her bad side. She can make it difficult for you."
"I like Sid, and I would like to keep visiting him, so I'll keep that in mind. Does she like flowers?"
A laugh escaped from Lia. "Yeah, what woman doesn't?" She looked intently up at him. "Don't stand me up, okay?"
"Wasn't thinking of it."
Impulsively, Bucky kissed her on the cheek, then opened the door to the hallway. She watched him walk to the elevator, then closed the door after he entered it. For a moment she stood there with her hand on the door knob. There was definitely something worthwhile about Bucky Barnes. Returning outside, she didn't see her grandfather, realizing he must have slipped into the bathroom. When he returned, parking his scooter beside her chair, he reached out, inviting her to hold his hand.
"Do you like him?"
"Yeah, he's very interesting. I could listen to his stories anytime."
He leaned closer. "But do you like him?" His eyes were fixed on her. "Does he make you feel something inside?"
Sid Goldstein knew his granddaughter very well. He knew that she was smart, ambitious, and intimidating to most men, because they underestimated her. She could spot a fool within moments of meeting him. So could Sid and he had quickly formed the opinion that Bucky Barnes was no fool. The man had lived during the Depression, had worked a manual job, been a soldier, been a prisoner of war, and had survived decades of abuse and mind control to become the man he was today. He had earned the right to have issues related to that abuse, but by all accounts he was an honourable man and Sid wanted nothing less than that for Lia.
"Yes, I do like him." She fixed her eyes on her grandfather. "I could fall in love with him."
"Well, spend some time with him, first, before you decide that," he grinned. "But if it happens, then I can be happy for you."
He didn't add the caveat that he wanted to be sure she was set before he died. Lia didn't like it when he talked about dying but he had noticed things lately; things that reminded him of his Minnie, who died in 1968. Sid Goldstein figured his time was coming, soon. Making sure Lia had someone to watch over her was the final thing he wanted to get done before he left this world, and he was certain the appearance of Bucky Barnes was a sign that he needed to take care of his granddaughter.
🎶
It wasn't as hot this evening as it was the night before as Lia got ready. She chose one of her favourite dresses to wear, a red summer style with straps that met in between her shoulder blades then crossed at the front before returning to the back for tying off. The flair on the skirt was perfect for dancing and if the house band called her up to sing, as they sometimes did, it would look great on stage. With her hair up, the look would be complete. A text from one of her girlfriends, Casey, said the ride share car was just minutes away from her place. Quickly checking her makeup, Lia slipped her dancing shoes on, grabbed her clutch, making sure she had money, her phone, and lipstick, then headed out the door and down the elevator. Casey, along with her brother, Jackson and his boyfriend Sean, greeted her with enthusiasm when she squeezed into the fourth seat of the SUV.
"You're wearing the red dress," noted Jackson. "Someone you want to impress?"
"Maybe," answered Lia. They all looked at her expectantly. "I met someone and asked him to join us."
"Ooh, who is he?" asked Casey, "and why didn't you say something sooner?"
"I just met him this morning," she explained. "He's a friend of Grandpa's." She sighed. "I don't want to say who because he's known and I don't want you to have any preconceptions about him. You'll recognize him when he gets there."
"Is the guy cute?" asked Sean.
"He's handsome, not cute. He's a man, not a guy."
The two men peppered her with questions, trying to guess who it was but Lia refused to answer for the entire ride. They all stared out the window at the small lineup already in place at the club, asking Lia if he was there. She looked but didn't see him and shook her head. As they clambered out, they saw more friends in line and stopped to talk. Lia, who was a club member with priority entrance privileges, invited them to join her and went to the front of the line where the doorman, Brett, recognized her and let them in. She waited for the others to enter then pulled her phone out, looking up a picture of Bucky.
"I'm expecting this guy to join us," she said, showing Brett the image. "Could you make sure he gets inside?"
"You know him?" asked the burly doorman, surprised at the request.
"He's friends with Grandpa," she answered. "Met him this morning."
"Okay," smiled Brett. "I'll be nice."
"You're a sweetheart," she grinned as she entered.
More acquaintances were inside, greeting her as she looked for the others. Several asked if she was performing but she just shrugged, as it was up to the house band. By the time she got to her friends, the manager had already sought her out, asking for a couple of songs later. As she sat on the banquette bench against the wall, a drink was slid towards her and a toast was made to having a great evening. Then Jackson and Sean, sitting next to her, suddenly stopped talking and looked towards the entrance where a man was drawing attention just standing there.
"Is that ...?" asked Sean.
"Looks like him," replied Jackson. "My God, he's hot."
Lia looked to where the others were focused, seeing Bucky eyeing the place, wearing black pleated pants, and a white shirt with a stripe pattern. The shirt, with the sleeves rolled up exposing his powerful right forearm and left metal arm, was unbuttoned on the front, enough to show a white undershirt underneath. He carried his jacket over his shoulder with his right hand.
"Now that is a man," murmured Casey, then she noticed Lia leaving her spot. "Wait, is he your date?"
"Yup, excuse me," said Lia, heading over to Bucky.
As she got closer she noticed he wore a gold bracelet on his right wrist and a gold chain around his neck. With his slightly long hair swept back, and his beard closely trimmed, he looked almost effortlessly and deliciously masculine. Then he smiled as he saw her and came down the two steps onto the dance floor, shifting his jacket onto his left arm, while seeming to take in the whole space as he came closer.
"Hi," he said, kissing her on the cheek again. "This is it, huh?" He looked up at the glitter ball in the middle of the dance floor. "Haven't seen one of those in forever." He looked her up and down. "That's some dress. You look great."
"Thank you, so do you," she replied. "Come and meet my friends."
Taking him by his right hand, she led him to where her friends were, introducing him to them. He shook all their hands, saying their names in turn, then looked at the drinks on the table.
"Guess I should get something for myself."
"Oh, I'd love to buy you a drink," gushed Sean, receiving a little elbow from his boyfriend. "We both would. What would you like?"
"Bourbon, neat, a double. Scotch if they don't have bourbon."
"Bourbon, it is," answered the giddy man.
He stepped away from the table, walking backwards towards the bar, as if he didn't want to lose sight of Bucky.
"Don't mind him," said Casey, "he's just a little star struck. We all are, since Lia wouldn't tell us who her date was."
Bucky smiled at her then turned to Lia. "I'm your date?"
"You're trouble."
"Not me, I'm reformed." A drink appeared from the side, courtesy of Sean, who was practically vibrating. "Thanks."
"My pleasure," stammered Sean, who was pulled into his seat by Jackson.
Bucky waited for Lia to sit, then slid next to her, draping his jacket over the back of the banquette. She noticed how with a quick glance on the way to the table, he knew where the exits were. Now that he was sitting with his back to the wall, he seemed slightly more relaxed. He smiled at her, sipping his drink, then patiently listening as the others demanded to know how he and Lia met.
"I climbed up a fire escape when I heard a beautiful voice singing. Wanted to put a face to the voice."
The other women in the group, plus Sean and Jackson, put their hands over their hearts, affected by his words.
"She was singing for her grandfather and after she left, Sid asked me to come over for a drink and a cigar. I met her this morning after I took him some bagels and lox."
"How is Grandpa Sid?" asked Jackson. "I love that guy."
"He's fine," answered Lia. "Up to his usual tricks." She looked at where the band were coming on stage then at Bucky. "The music is going to start right away. You ready to cut a rug with me?"
"I'll do my best to keep up with you young 'uns," grinned Bucky, sipping his bourbon again.
The first song, Stomping at the Savoy, filled the dance floor. Offering Lia his hand, Bucky led her to an open spot then took a breath and began dancing. It was like going back in time, as his feet and hands seemed to remember exactly what to do. She was a good dancer, and her smiling face, as she followed his lead, just added to the rush of dopamine to his brain. When that song ended, the band went right into another song he hadn't heard in years, Shake, Rattle and Roll by Charlie Barnet and his Orchestra.
"You know this one?" she asked, as he pulled her in for a moment.
"You bet," he answered. "I didn't think anyone younger than 90 still listened to this music."
"Everyone in this club listens to it, and there are several other clubs in the city." He twirled her away, bringing her back. "It's good music."
As he twirled her away again, she added some oomph to it, watching him as he watched the flare of her dress raise up, exposing her legs. His cheeky grin made her feel giddy inside and when he pulled her back into his space, he held her close, swaying his hips as they stepped in time to the beat.
"Oh, you are trouble," she grinned as she matched his moves. "I would have thought you'd take me out to dinner first before you tried this."
"Sweetheart, I'll take you to dinner and make you breakfast," he murmured into her ear. "Every day."
The heat of his breath on her neck spread throughout her body and she found herself with no words to throw back at him. Then she felt the briefest touch of his lips on the pulse point below her ear and knew she was definitely liking this man. Bucky took pity on her and toned it down a bit but the next song, a slower, sultry number, almost made it worse as he focused his gaze completely on her. Never had a man made her feel like she was the centre of his world in the same way that Bucky did while they danced. After one more dance, she begged off to get hydrated, having a sip then grabbing her clutch and excusing herself to the ladies room. Casey followed her, then barely waited for the door to close before taking Lia by her hands.
"What was going on between you two on the dance floor?"
Her eyes were wide open as she stared at Lia.
"What do you mean? We were just dancing."
"Lia, that was sex, plain and simple. You might as well have just got down to business right there because no one was in that world with you two. It was hot."
"Yeah, it was, wasn't it?" Lia looked at her face in the mirror, then took her lipstick out of her clutch and reapplied it. "He's intense but he wasn't inappropriate with me, as hard as it is to believe."
"What did he say to you? You almost melted after."
She turned towards Casey, leaning against the sink counter.
"That he'll take me to dinner and make me breakfast, every day."
"Damn. The man has moves, serious moves." Casey leaned against the counter beside her. "You taking him home?"
"I don't know." She breathed out, accepting that she may have met the one. "I like him, as in really like him."
With a look at each other, that best friends could use without words, the two women left the ladies room and returned to no Bucky, no Sean, and no Jackson at the table. The others pointed to a place on the dance floor where Bucky was showing both of them that swaying motion he used on her, then watching as they did it together. Giving them the thumbs up he returned to the table, his face brightening up when he saw Lia.
"They asked how to do that," he said, unashamedly. "Didn't always have a girl handy to practice dance moves with. They were saying that you were probably going to sing with the band later."
"Don't change the subject," interjected Casey. "You were dancing with guys back in the 40s?"
"If there were no girls around, yeah." Bucky frowned slightly. "It was war time and sometimes a guy wants to dance."
She flopped back into her chair, fanning herself, to his amusement. Lia grinned at him and sat down.
"Yeah, they often ask me. They know I'm trying to build a repertoire and be noticed."
Another song started that Bucky knew and he put his hand out to Lia. They danced non-stop for the next three songs then the band announced they were taking a short break. Knowing that she would be up when the band took the stage again, Lia excused herself to the artist's room to begin warming up. The club manager stepped in, watching her for a few minutes before he said anything.
"That's Bucky Barnes, right?" Lia nodded. "Damn, he's a good dancer." She nodded again. "Do you think he would pose for a picture?"
"You'll have to ask him," she said. "May I warm up in peace, please?"
With their break over the band returned to the stage, warming up a little, then their leader introduced Lia, who stepped on to enthusiastic applause. She sang Shoo-Fly Pie and Apple Pan Dowdy, a fun song that Bucky danced with Casey. Then she went straight into Ella Fitzgerald's It Don't Mean a Thing (If It Ain't Got That Swing). Most of the dancers stopped to listen to her, including Bucky, knowing without a doubt that for this evening he felt the most normal he had since before the war. As the song ended and she thanked everyone, a voice from the back called out.
"Can you do The Man I Love?"
Lia tried to find a face to go with the voice but the spotlight made it difficult to make out faces at the back.
"It's not a swing number." She looked at Jason, the leader of the house band. "Do you guys have the music for it?" He nodded and waited for his band to bring it up on their iPads. "Alright, last song for me, The Man I Love by George and Ira Gershwin. Thanks for listening."
Someday he'll come along
The man I love
And he'll be big and strong
The man I love
And when he comes my way
I'll do my best to make him stay
Something magical happened as she sang. Couples still danced, but many faced her with the taller partner behind their shorter one, swaying slowly to the music. It brought Bucky back to a time he heard several women singers, like Billie Holiday, Lena Horne, and Ella Fitzgerald singing it in a smoky club, making it their own with their unique sound, just as Lia was doing at that moment. Her face showed all the emotions of her love for this music, music that her grandfather had shared with her from the time she first sang along to Miss Ella, as he called the legendary singer. It was proof of her talent and how special a woman she was, a woman Bucky never wanted to be parted from. She looked at him then, as if she realized the same thing about him, her face softening when she sang the final line I'm waiting for the man I love.
With the band getting back to their usual music, and many of the audience stopping her to say something personal, Bucky waited as Lia made her way towards him. Extending his hand to hers, he squeezed it, then lifted it to his lips.
"That was beautiful," he said, loud enough for her to hear it.
"Thank you." She looked towards an exit. "I need some fresh air. Come with me."
The manager nodded as she put a doorstop on the exit, so they could come back in after. Outside, in the slightly cooler air, she leaned against the brick wall, then up at Bucky as he stood facing her. Gently, he touched her cheek, then leaned closer and kissed her softly on the lips. Her arms reached for his shoulders then around his neck as she kissed him back, passionately, crushing her lips against his. The heat from him as he pressed his hard form against her was noticeable, warming her whole body with its intensity. But she didn't pull away, knowing that this type of heat wouldn't burn or harm her. It was a heat she had always wanted to feel, a love burning just for her, a love that would never die, just like the love her grandparents had even though one of them had been dead for a long time.
"I hardly know you," she whispered, when he pulled away enough for them to breathe.
"You know enough. We don't have to do anything you're not ready for but I'll always be here for you." He watched her face intently as he spoke. "I want you and only you for as long as you'll have me."
She swallowed. "Then let's start with breakfast ... the first of many."
🎶
In their later years, after their children were grown and had started families of their own, Bucky Barnes and his wife, the famous jazz singer, Lia Goldstein, would often be seen out walking in their Brooklyn neighbourhood, their hands intertwined as they walked their dogs. The former super soldier who became a congressman, then a senator, then Secretary of State before retiring at the age of 140, was often asked about the nature of what made a love last a lifetime.
"The right moves, the right music, and the right partner," was always his answer. "With some help from an old man who loved one woman for almost his whole life."
It was an answer that he shared freely with anyone who would listen. That second night of listening to Lia sing was the night he truly left his past behind and committed to a future with a particular woman. Her night music captured him on the first night he ever saw her and he never missed a subsequent performance if he could help it. It was a beautiful romance between the former soldier and the singer that lasted for a long, long time.

Hi there! I have no idea who you are and while I don't care to know, I do care that you're talking shit about one of my best friends. So, because she has 12 k-pop faces that gives you the right to assume she is fetishizing them? Myself, a few others, including April do not fetishize them. But think what you'd like. Have a nice day! ♥ // Cheryl, if you have to announce that you’re not racist, you’re racist. If she does not follow any Korean cultural norms and write with them in mind, she is a fetishist. Why can’t she use Chinese fcs? Or Bollywood fcs? They have TONS of resources. Why is it she uses only super hot K-pop men? Is it because Chinese-ent faces don’t fit her aesthetic? Like bitches don’t have imagination? We can’t imagine a punk neon blue haired person, so they can ONLY use someone who has neon blue hair and dresses punk and that is mostly a KPop thing so……. A hit dog will holler.

Would I Run Off The World Someday
Lucille passed all manner of neon signs and business parks. But this was far from a relaxing night drive.
She has two years before she can get her license. She doesn’t know where she is. Her passenger, Cheryl, struggled to keep the contents of her stomach at bay, her complexion paling as A wave of nausea overwhelmed her. She clenched the armrest in a desperate attempt to maintain her composure.
She’d seen Cheryl this carsick before, on her first day at Rat Portage school.
Upon transferring to Rat Portage, Lucille had a rude awakening regarding transport to and from school. Rat Portage is a K-12 school, and as such, students must use school-provided transit. It wasn’t like her old school, where students could get themselves to school on their own.
She shouldn’t have had to take a school bus. Rat Portage is only a four-minute walk from Lucille's house, but rules were rules.
The commute to and from school couldn't be more arduous. The drive from her house to St Jerome train station took 14 minutes. After a ten-minute wait, she rode the train three stops to Hermitage station. Another 33 minutes. The hardest part was getting from Hermitage to her school bus stop on Belmont Street. If she was lucky, it was 5 minutes in the cab. If she wasn’t, it was a 43-minute walk. The bus ride itself only took 11 minutes. All this to get somewhere a 4-minute walk away.
Lucille’s first day on the school bus did not go so well. She had to sit next to Cheryl. Cheryl didn’t look too good to start with, but it got worse as the ride wore on.
It all came to a head when the bus hit a bump. Cheryl barfed. She aimed for the window and missed, so it landed on Lucille.
Cheryl should have been banned from the bus due to her carsickness but wasn’t. Lucille swore she would never get in a vehicle with Cheryl again.
Flash forward to today. Lucille and Cheryl are once again in a vehicle together, except things are different this time. As it was a private car, rather than a school bus, they didn't sit next to each other.
It looked like there would not be a repeat performance of what happened on the bus. Then Cheryl gagged.
“OK, do not throw up back there,” Lucille warned, "If there's barf back there, The person who owns this car is going to ask questions, and I will not have a good answer.”
“I’m not going to throw up,” Cheryl said, gagging again in the middle of the sentence.
“Let's hope not”
Cheryl closed her eyes and tumbled off to sleep. Good, Lucille thought.
Too bad Cheryl had a nightmare.
She dreamt she was in a white room with a large spirit who had blue skin. His eyes hung from his jowls, just above his vaguely testicular chin and well below his crimson tomato of a nose. A long-legged and striped, button-up singlet with a sagging trap door clung to his round body and long, skinny arms. He gave off a strong shit smell.
Cheryl did her best to dodge him, as there was no telling when the mess was going to fall out of the trap door. Even if she held her nose as tight as she could, the stink stung her eyes and the taste of it in her mouth made her gag.
The spirit’s trap door sagged deeper and deeper. She tried to find somewhere to hide from the imminent shitstorm. Instead, she found a mask and snorkel while trying to hide from the impending diarrhea. In a flash, she put it on and fastened the straps as tight as she could.
It stunned her how effective the mask was. The stink of shit didn’t burn her eyes, and if she had the snorkel in her mouth, she didn’t taste the smell in her mouth.
The spirit floated in the air and pumped out enough sludge that it broke through the trap door on the singlet, flooding the room with diarrhea. She didn’t care. Even if he pointed his ballooning bottom in her general direction and the torrent walloped her in the chest, she didn’t care.
Problem. It didn’t take long for the ankle-deep sewage to become chest-deep and then neck-deep. The chunky, bubbling slop didn’t behave like water. Cheryl learnt the hard way that she didn’t float. She sank, not unlike how people drown in manure pits.
Why she had a dream like that remains a mystery. It must have been a distorted memory from a vacation. When she was nine, her family went on vacation somewhere. Some of the people got sick, and some didn’t. Cheryl had just come back from the pool to discover that her grandfather had died from the tummy bug that her father and aunt somehow survived. They had to go back home right away. Upon arriving home, they just discovered their basement flooded.
But her mind didn’t replay this event as it happened. Instead, it went with a caricature of her late grandfather in the form of a rotund humanoid with long skinny limbs, a red nose and blue skin flooding a metaphorical basement with his intestinal distress and the only thing keeping Cheryl safe was the snorkel mask she had at the pool.
Carsickness doesn’t care about the deeper meaning of your dreams. It only cares about haunting them with a Vogon knockoff of Fofao with no bowel control. Upon awakening, Cheryl rolled down the window and threw up.
“I heard that,” Lucille grunted.
“Yeah, don’t worry,” Cheryl chuckled, “it all went out the window.”
Lucille snickered in response. “Good thinking, let the person behind us worry about it.”
Cheryl learned her lesson from the school bus. The key to hurling out the window is to actually get the stomach contents out the window. It was now the problem of the person behind them.
Lucky for them, the guy behind them didn’t catch up. The vomit caked his windshield and he wrapped his car around a fixture of some kind.

After losing Slater, Alice Adams, younger sister of Deputy Adams, continued her quest of being turned into a vampire. At an unspecified point in time, she runs into Marty Hammond and has a one night stand with him before he takes off in his truck again. Nine months later, she sticks around long enough to name her daughter Beula Hammond (M/allory B/echtel) and leaves her in the permanent care of Sophia Alpert.
Beula is a human cheerleader and runs in the same group as the late Dana Lilien, Sasha Stoteraux, Jill Freeman and Sophia's granddaughter Jayneela. And after Dana's unfortunate passing, she's gunning to become the new queen bee. Though she had a brief moment with Kaleb in which he fed from her, compelled her to forget and cover up her neck wounds with a scarf, the fact of the matter remains that she is currently still unaware of the world of the supernatural and thinks that the Salvatore Boarding School is just that: a fancy boarding school for fucked up rich kids.
Jill Freeman (Z/aria S/imone) is a human cheerleader, the half-sister of Dennis and the daughter of the late Dianne Freeman, former head of security at Whitmore College and a member of the secret society Augustine. Both of her children were unaware of their mother's involvement with Augustine and they are still unaware to this day.
She'd never say it aloud but Jill feels herself going through the motions and subtly pulling away from Beula and the rest of the group and she doesn't quite know what to do with that or with herself.
Cheryl Ares (M/aia R/eficco) is a human cheerleader, former track star and student at Mystic Falls High. She is also Penelope "Penny" Ares' relative. Penny's death on the 8th of February 2015 fractured the entire Ares family. While most wouldn't fault her for blaming Penny's fiance, Cheryl has never once blamed Matt for Penny's death and tries her best to keep an ear to the ground in regards to what he's up to. After graduation, Cheryl wants to go pro in regards to cheerleading.
Jayneela Alpert (C/handler K/inney) is the very human granddaughter of Sophia Alpert and the younger sister of Tyrone Alpert. A star student, she's not really into the whole popularity contest thing but seeing as Beula lives with her, Jayneela is kind of dragged into the madness anyway. She used to cheer but she quit in favor of doing her own thing. Jayneela wants to become a doctor like her grandmother.
Cecil Barnes (J/ordan G/onzalez) never really fit in with the aforementioned people, despite knowing them all for years now. That's okay, though. He's much more comfortable with the way things are right now: he's branded a nerd and all of the girls (and most of the jocks) are highly allergic to those, so he's left alone more often than not. Dangerously smart and funny when you get to know him, Cecil spends most of his free time avoiding making connections. Well, he spends most of his free time avoiding making connections in real life. Online, he's quite popular. Cecil spends his time in the Mystic Falls High computer lab, gaming and making little stop motion videos. And if he's not at school, you can find him at More Games, the one and only game store in town. And if he's not there, he's at home watching horror movies.
Originally hailing from Finn Creek (near Chance Harbor), Cecil's single father Wade packed up their things and moved them to Mystic Falls after the death of his sister because Finn Creek as well as Chance Harbor held too many memories.
Though he's not aware of the full story, Cecil was close to his aunt Heather and he's clever enough to know that whatever happened to her wasn't just an accident at the Boatyard and one of these days, he's going to figure out what happened. Getting in touch with Zachary Larson is a good place to start.
One of his fondest memories is showing his dad, as well as aunt Heather all of his creations, despite her comatose state, in the hopes of somehow getting her back.
After he came out as trans to his dad (and aunt) - he named himself after her. It's one of the few times he'd seen his dad cry happy tears.
Cecil doesn't know what to think about the Salvatore Boarding School and it's, let's be honest, weird as fuck residents but he does have a noticable crush on Floribeth (who he calls 'Beth' because he needs something to differentiate himself from everybody else) - which she, ironically, has no idea about at all - and holds out the hope that she'll get chosen for one of those Mystic Falls High slash Salvatore School swaps so he can show her around.
(You know, those days during which both groups "walk a mile in each other's shoes". One group of students from Mystic Falls High spends a day at the boarding school and vice versa.)

I honestly don’t k ow anything about dbd so colour me surprised when I found out ghostface is in there??? Is it like a game where the mc gets transported to a hell like dimension and do a bunch of trails conducted by people like ghsotfsce to survive?
Also k have my accounting exam today and I’m super nervous. It’s the highest course in my study field that has the highest failure/ dropout rate, which now I understand
omg im wishing you luck on your exam!!
but yeah i mean... technically?? that's definitely one way to describe it. and i'll try my best to explain what it is because it overtakes my every waking thought these days.
so like. there is this thing right. she's known as the entity. she's essentially the main antagonist of the whole game, and she drags people into something known as the fog, a place that no one has been able to escape. once you're in the fog, you're not leaving.
so you have one group of people known as survivors. this includes original characters like meg, yunjin, sable, dwight, etc etc. and then licensed characters such as leon kennedy, nick cage, alan wake, ellen ripley, etc etc.
then you have the second group, the killers. this includes original killers like the trickster, skull merchant, the trapper, the artist, etc etec. and then licensed characters like michael myers, pinhead, demogorgon, amanda young, and so on. then there's ghostface. he's only half-licensed, so he's not from any of this movies, he's only canon to dbd. his name is danny.
the lore of this game is not something i'm an expert at. i only know the lore for like... 5 characters. but the gist is that you get dragged into the fog (or willingly enter, if you're quirky like sable) and are forever stuck there, cursed to either continuously get killed over and over again or cursed to continuously murder over and over again.
each trial is a 1v4. one killer, four survivors. the survivors have to repair generators to power up the exit gates in order to escape, and the killer has to hunt them down and sacrifice them to the entity by hooking them 3 times. 2, if you bring a mori or if they get left on hook until their second hook state.
and each survivor and killer comes with their own set of perks, like little skills essentially, that you can use to help yourself out in trials. like uhhh...
some examples being the perks i put on my survivors: adrenaline, a meg perk, instantly heals you a health state and gives you a haste boost once gates are powered. background player, a renato perk, that gives you a massive speed boost when the killer picks up a downed survivor. unbreakable, a bill perk, that lets you pick yourself up if you've been downed. and soul guard, a cheryl perk, that grants you endurance for a period of time once you've been healed from a downed state.
and then some killer perks: no way out, a trickster perk, that calls the entity to block exit gates when someone tries opening them. the time depends on how many survivors you hooked that match. rancor, a spirit perk, that lets you immediately down and mori your obsession once gates are powered no matter how many times you've hooked them. nurse's calling, a nurse perk, that lets you see the aura of survivors healing within a certain range. blood warden, a nightmare perk, that blocks off the exit for 60 seconds after hooking a survivor once either gate has been opened.
i don't think i'm doing the best job at explaining the game tbh. the best way to learn about it is to either watch someone play it or play it yourself, bc that's how i learned. and i'm still new to the game man, 4 months, 420 hours.
it's an online game, so there's always bound to be toxic people on both sides, but it's also a really fun game and like.
there have been moments in this game, lil interactions w other survivors and killers, that have genuinely made my day.
there's also outfits!! for the killers and survivors!! some of them aren't good, but some of them are. really just depends on your taste in fashion, i guess. and lil charms that you can put on your survivors, and on your hooks.
sorry for the long and messy explanation i will take literally any chance given to me to talk about this game :thumbs up:
#anon#archived mind of v: thoughts and opinions.#im So normal about it#but seriously i'd recommend checking it out#either by playing it yourself or watching someone on youtube or twitch#i'd personally recommend slate and littlespacerock#they're both twitch streamers but they both upload on youtube as well

This is the first Christmas Station ID to feature the crew from ABS-CBN, GMA and TV5.
But sadly, Mark Anthony Fernandez, Mikael Daez and Sef Cadayona, already moved to TV5 in 2010. Due to this, Mark Anthony Fernandez moved to TV5 when his father Rudy Fernandez died of a stroke in April 9, 2010. He was 57 years old. Also, Renz Fernandez moved to TV5 as well. Somehow, Rudy Fernandez did not appear in the 2010 Christmas Station ID of ABS-CBN due to his death.

Breakfast sandwiches
Starting anew with my caloric responsibilities. Recent and ongoing stressors, weathering my resolve, have driven me to eat like a toddler at the Keebler tree. I'm trying to start the day with a solid foundation, food-wise: The breakfast sandwich. One egg fried in canola spray, two similarly fried slices of turkey bacon, a slice of Monterey pepper jack cheese, and half of an avocado mashed into the top half of a toasted multigrain sandwich thin bun. I downed that action with some caffeinated soda squirts a la my whitest personal appliance, the Sodastream. Let's just go ahead and log that into FatSecret to make things just a tad more pale around here. Not to mention, a third of my breakfast was avocado toast. Refill my mimosa at your next brunch, my fellow alabaster bros.
We are trying to sell our house. That means packing. That means painting. That means working with the wife to move forward on those things. We generally fail to see eye to eye on operations. I, being the one of the two of us with past managerial experience, seem to think I know better. She, being incredible at the same position at her respective places of employment, tends to end up being the only one that knows what is happening. I have plans, she has plans. The overlap is minimal. If you enjoy that 'blood in your stool/panic attack' type stress, be sure to add a deadline toward this endeavor that doesn't so much have a set date and time, but dictates an approach that requires everything be done as soon as possible. You both work full time, you say? You are currently raising a toddler, you say? You have multiple obligations beyond your baseline, you say? Social engagements, you say? Deaths in the family, you say? Just make sure to have all of your heart attacks on company time. Bigger payout for the bereaved.
To find a moment would be a luxury. So, my usual means of therapeutic writing can't seem to make an appointment with my self. I enjoy the pen and pad so I can sit with the thoughts a bit. This feels like a sprint. There are reasons. I am working right now. Listening to Shostakovich's 9th in E minor. My man. If you haven't ever, do. Cartoonish insanity with some beautiful resolutions within the margins. Allegorical to current events, I'd argue. I'm going to utilize the internet the way the lord, Hades, intended and seek knowledge on Dmitri... Ah, there are many a book on my man. We'll just drop a few of these into the 'want to read' column and revisit. Turns out he knew Stalin in some capacity. Will we have to compartmentalize the music from the man? Knowledge can be a real motherfucker. We shall see.
Don't tell the boss I'm unloading on an all but forgotten b-squad social media site where I have maybe 5 followers. Shout out to the Cinco Psychos. I felt it might be in my best interest to find a way to un-clench my jaw. I think the 'clenched' status is going on a month now. Rafiki voice: "It is time."
My aunt Cheryl died Tuesday night. It was reported to me on Wednesday morning. You know, just before work. A woman who had been in my life for all of my 45 years twirling about the sun. She's gone. Not to mention we lost her son, my cousin just earlier this year. She had grandkids. He had daughters. I barely had a moment to maneuver my cousin Chris's death before I heard the news Wednesday morning. Cheryl passed away from the same cancer that took my dad. The great K-Dubs. The last conversation that Cheryl and I had revolved around her concern for how I rough house with Violet. She wanted to make sure I take care of my daughter properly. I plan to honor those last requests.
So, what is the move? I've lost my map. Navigating these waters is futile. Fate is in Hades's hands now. I'll tell you what you cannot do. You are not allowed to cope with that level of bad news without a full day at a job you moderately tolerate. Go to work bitch. They'll give you a box of tissues. Wipe those tears away between emails. This is healthy and fine.
Let's follow up that work day with a visit to the dentist that has been years overdue. Get berated by the tech for not flossing, then run some errands with half your face numb and sliding off your skull. We need groceries. The baby needs milk. Kelly needs almond milk for smoothies. You need eggs for breakfast sandwiches.
To be honest, I used some of my free time to check in on mom. She lost her sister. I'm not alone in grief here. I had to make sure she was maintaining. She was. Probably better than I. Maybe she's doing worse behind closed doors. That being said, the takeaway for me was that this is something common enough in old age that you have developed processes in which to grieve. It made me feel like a novice, at best, in that regard. I'm sure I'll get the reps in. Mom has endured enough to solidify her routine.
That's probably the hardest part. I need time for me. I feel like I should be there for my mom, my brother, my immediate family, extended, etc. as well. My capacity to prioritize my responsibilities dwindles as ye scroll of tasks drops and rolls away from me as I read it. The budget will not allow for a life coach. Let's explore what the modest budget might offer as an equivalent. I bought a salmon/tuna poke bowl, extra sauce, extra spicy.

Ron Cephas Jones, This Is Us Actor Who Won Two Emmy Awards, Dies at 66 | Television
New Post has been published on https://bestcustomjerseys.com/ron-cephas-jones-this-is-us-actor-who-won-two-emmy-awards-dies-at-66-television/
Ron Cephas Jones, This Is Us Actor Who Won Two Emmy Awards, Dies at 66 | Television
Ron Cephas Jones, a veteran stage actor who won two Emmy Awards for his role as a long-lost father who finds redemption on the NBC series This Is Us, has died at 66, a representative said.
Jones’ manager, Dan Spilo, said the actor died “due to a long-standing lung problem.”
“Throughout his career, anyone lucky enough to know him felt his warmth, beauty, generosity, kindness and heart,” Spilo said.
Jones underwent a double lung transplant in 2020 due to chronic obstructive pulmonary disease and spent nearly two months in a Los Angeles hospital.
In This Is Us, Jones played William “Shakespeare” Hill, a biological father whose life is renewed through his relationship with the family of his son Randall Pearson, played by Sterling K Brown.
“One of the most amazing people the world has ever seen is no longer with us,” Brown said in an Instagram post. “The world is a little less bright. Brother, you are loved. And you will be missed.”
Jones played a more central role in the series’ early seasons, but appeared in some capacity in all six seasons of the show, which featured time-hopping narratives and offered recurring opportunities for the actors even after their characters had died. Jones won Emmy Awards for Outstanding Guest Actor in a Drama Series in 2018 and 2020 and was nominated for two more.
“Ron was the best of the best – on screen, on stage and in real life,” said This Is Us creator Dan Fogelman. “My God: what an actor. I don’t think I ever changed a single take of him in a cut because everything he did was perfect.”
Jones spent most of his career on stage before and after This Is Us, returning to Broadway even after his transplant forced him to learn to breathe and walk again.
“My whole life has been on stage,” Jones said in a 2021 interview with The New York Times, in which he revealed that he had been suffering from respiratory problems since starting on This Is Us.
“The thought of never acting again seemed worse than death to me,” Jones said.
He was nominated for a Tony and won a Drama Desk Award in 2022 for his Broadway role as a truck stop cook at Clyde’s, from playwright Lynn Nottage.
Born in Paterson, New Jersey, Jones graduated from Ramapo College, where he intended to study jazz but switched to theater. He spent the late 1970s and early 1980s traveling the country, working as a bus driver in Southern California for several years.
In the mid-1980s he moved to New York, where he began dating and collaborating at the Nuyorican Poets Café, a vital creative center for poetry, hip-hop, and the performing arts. A breakout role for her came in 1994, when she landed the lead role in playwright Cheryl West’s drama Holiday Heart.
He spent the next few decades consistently on stage, often in Off-Broadway plays, including a leading role as Shakespeare’s Richard III at the Public Theatre, and roles with the Steppenwolf Theater Company in Chicago.
Jones has also appeared on television shows as a guest on Mr Robot, Luke Cage and Lisey’s Story. His appearances in his films included 2006’s Half Nelson with Ryan Gosling and 2019’s Dolemite Is My Name, with Eddie Murphy.
She is survived by her daughter, Jasmine Cephas Jones.
