Farm Fresh Outlet, 1251 E Valley Blvd, Alhambra, CA 91801

While the name makes me think of Sprouts or some mainstream produce market, Farm Fresh is a Chinese grocery store that opened earlier this year. It’s got a no-frills feel with no in-store deli or in-store bakery. However, the meat/seafood department is staffed and offers a complimentary fish fry service. They have live seafood in tanks and even live frogs (poor frogs).

The produce department was packed and the prices seemed pretty reasonable. They have a wide variety of Asian vegetables. Vegetables are packaged in plastic.

There’s a wide variety of noodles, rice, tea, snacks, spices, sauces, and the things you’d expect from an Asian grocery store. It’s smaller than 168 Market and 99 Ranch. The market seemed cleaner than your typical Chinese market but it is newer. They were playing Chinese music.

is there anything more confusing than when somebody mentions a robin is white. I read a fic earlier that said something offhand about Tim being a white guy and that is so fully and obviously wrong to my own brain that it broke my immersion for a second. I stopped reading, convinced that the writer has just made a terrible mistake, and not like. basing their fic on general canon. anyway, the robins are brown

With three, sometimes four, dogs at the house we go through a lot of toys. Ella and Stella have a thing about eviscerating stuffed animals, leaving plastic squeakers and polyester fuzz all over the floor. I throw out those things and let Ella and Stella work on the “skins” a while longer before getting rid of those too. Sheila has already purchased many backup toys, so please don’t worry about our dogs being bored when I throw out dead toys. (Or hungry, because Sheila is a double platinum customer at Chewy’s specialty dog treat division.)

The other day I found this thing pictured above. It’s an inside-out stuffed (er, stuff-less) dog toy. The manufacturer must have had me in mind because the printing says “Time to throw me away.” I’m shamed into replacing dog toys, just because they’re hollow and inside-out.

After work this afternoon I made a short trip to the grocery store. At one time in my life seeing a “two for” price tag made me think “deal.”

But with these crazy grocery prices, I don’t think this is terribly effective. $9 seems like a ridiculous price for two bags of Cheetos, even if they are gluten free.

99 Ranch Market, 2959 Chino Ave, Chino Hills, CA 91709

99 Ranch Market in Chino Hills has a broad selection of Asian (mostly Chinese) groceries, including Asian vegetables, tofu, snacks, fresh fish in tanks, frozen dumplings, noodles, spices, rice, etc. The meat department is staffed. They also have a deli with BBQ meat, dim sum, hot rice bowls, and made to order run-bing. They have sushi, prepared foods (e.g., steamed buns, Chinese rice tamales, cold dishes). BreadFarm, the in-store bakery, has baked buns, cakes, loaves of bread, cream puffs, and even milk tea. There’s a branch of East West Bank too.

The store seemed pretty clean though the fish department did smell. The vegetables were mostly packaged in plastic bags but reasonably priced. They had a fair amount of organic produce!

They carry Thanh Son Tofu, Mr. Froyo’s favorite!
