My most talented and wonderful friend @tesshere was inspired by my latest fic update and drew these UTTERLY MAGNIFICENT pieces of Jia, my Last Dragonborn and last heir to the Septim line! In the first one, we can see two versions of her, the one with a flower crown in her wild hair, simple and happy and free, and the other with the Empire's crown on her head, her neat hair and clothes, but with her eyes crying while wearing it. While a dragon is naturally inclined to dominance and rule, my Jia is very afraid of the legacy she carries on her back...

In the second one... Well, I think the excerpt is very self-explanatory, isn't it? 😼 Jia soothes Miraak's pain by tenderly and reverently kissing his hands, and as my friend Senu put it, "Miraak is well. Let's just say. horn".

having watched the show and nearly finished the books, imo the plot of The Witcher hinges way more than you think on the fact that Geralt, Yennnefer, and Jaskier/Dandelion all have a deep personal need to be the most fuckable person in town, but Geralt will never admit it out loud

Does it ever make you laugh that Ciri grew up reading Dandelion's poems and books and stories. She could name the titles of those poem collections. I’m only two and a half books into the Witcher series but I already feel like out of all the fantasy I’ve read, it’s one of the more realistic. Not in a grimdark way but just in a like normal human way. If normal humans lived with fantasy creatures and magic, I would expect them to be this way. Magic exists but Ciri is still too embarrassed to talk about her period. War exists but there are still people willing to take in orphans out of plain goodness and generosity. They even know about germs but Triss can still get gastroenteritis and it’s treated seriously, not as a joke.

Thinking a lot about Ciri's perspective as a noble child who has suddenly found herself in the custody of a much older stranger. Thinking about the Tudors, wherein it was treated as extremely normal for a noble man to marry his ward once she was "of age." I honestly don't know how historically accurate for the time period and social standing that is.

(Of age being just a bit nebulous in the narrative there, and he's very clearly lusting after her and has the plan to marry her all along.)

Thinking about how Ciri has been aware that it is her duty to marry whoever is most politically advantageous her whole life. That she's never felt much agency over her person as a noble girl.

Thinking about how Pavetta was a child of surprise, and everyone acted like Duny/Emhyr charming his way into her bed when she was a teen was surprising but not gross or inappropriate. It's just a sign that they are destined for each other.

Wondering if Ciri sort of expects that while Geralt is treating her like a guardian *now,* that he very well may assume that he'll be entitled to a sexual relationship whenever he considers her to be of age. And does everyone else around him assume this, too?

After all, in the books he's willing to send her back to be married against her will at a very young age rather than get involved.

And also how Geralt has seen the bodily autonomy of surprise children be violently disregarded his whole life, their own choices and lives overridden because of the power of "destiny."

How do they both react to this? what does it mean to them? Do they even think to talk about it or do they just each sit in their individual angst?
