This was one of the first chapters I wrote for this fic. I'm so excited to finally share it. The GIF I used here, was the inspiration for the events I wrote about.

Just ignore the fact that I published the VIII chapter and I didn't make a post.

I'm so excited about this one that I want to share a few extra things I did while writing, that don't show up in the chapter. It contains spoilers, so look for it later or at your own risk.

First I have to say that I learned A LOT of names from medical stuff in English by doing the translation. That was awesome!

But what I wanted to talk about here was that sometimes I get obsessed with research for my stories, sometimes I even waste all my free time on it without writing anything. And sometimes not even half of it ends up in the story. This said, I did A LOT of research for this one, to try and make it right.

Like, when I decided that Patterson would end up in Port Alberni. The first thing I did was to go around the city with the street view mode of Google Maps, just to get to know how it was and to have a more accurate idea of what Patterson would see from the hospital window.

Then, my goal was to make it unclear where she escaped from, so Patterson is told she walked from Parksville, which is part of Madeline's deception. According to Google Maps, it would take approximately 9hs 54 minutes to walk that distance.

But she wasn't in a city when escaped, but out in the woods. My next steps were to find at least two other places that had a similar distance to walk but weren't cities.

After a few hours, and thinking about changing the city Patterson ends up in, I found two options: Rosewall Creek Provincial Park and Clayoquot Plateau Provincial Park. (Minuto más, minuto menos)

Like, she didn't need to be exactly in those places, but it helped me to picture what she had seen on the road while walking in the snow.

Something that I find curious is that this last distance, which Google stipulates would take 10h 42 minutes of walking, would take only 48 minutes in a car.

Anyway, to finish this self-exposure of how obsessive I can be, another two things I Googled were the date of the first snow in British Columbia, and the sunlight hours there. This is to get a rough idea of the light according to the hours I imagined the different scenes, and the time of the year this is happening. It may be important for future chapters.

I Googled a few more stuff, but it doesn't matter, you get the point.

The Cedar Farmers Market in Nanaimo, British Columbia has seen an increase in visitors during the pandemic, with roughly 40% of attendees coming weekly or multiple times a month.

Parksville council gives B.C. Housing 180 days to find housing for motel residents

The City of Parksville is ordering B.C. Housing to bring a motel currently being used for supportive housing into compliance with zoning bylaws and is asking the province to help find alternative shelter for the 21 residents who live there. B.C. Housing, in partnership with Oceanside Homelessness Ecumenical Advocacy Response Team Society (OHEARTS), has been using the VIP Motel for supportive housing since October 2021, when a fire broke out at the facility that previously housed the residents.

Parksville Mayor Ed Mayne said the problem is that the motel is zoned for tourist use.

Last Tuesday, the city issued a compliance order for B.C. Housing, giving them 180 days, until March 2023, to find suitable housing options for the 21 tenants who currently live at the motel. According to the province, failure to comply with a compliance order like this may result in enforcement measures.

The hotel has been renamed Ocean Place, and manager Kelly Morris said she's concerned the people housed there will end up living on the streets again.

A total of 87 people were identified as experiencing homelessness in the Parksville and Qualicum Beach area during a count in April 2021, more than double the 42 counted in 2018. Morris said Ocean Place provides people with services from Island Health and support from nurses and people with lived experience of addiction and homelessness.

Mayne said the city was not consulted on putting supportive housing at the motel in the first place. The council did not approve the motel's temporary use application, which would have allowed people to stay at the motel until March 2023.

The Parksville-Qualicum Beach Tourism Association says they've received reports from neighbours that their businesses are being negatively affected.

Earlier this week, the city said B.C. Housing was offered municipal land to build a supportive housing unit but was turned down. B.C. Housing said the site suggested by the town was turned down because it was located outside of the city's core.

I used to travel with my Buddy; Sparky, but sadly, he’s adventuring somewhere else without me now. I sent photos of him to my friend in Bergen, so, technically, he made it there ;) I’ll catch up eventually. But this lil senior had more personality than any “dog” should have. He will appear many times on this blog, especially as I return to locations that the two of us ventured to.

I have a “new” lil companion that I cannot wait to travel about with; I will introduce her properly on the 24th when we bring her home. She’s only 5 weeks old right now. I had not been intending on getting a pup for a long while, but something lead me to her and I knew I had to bring her home with me 💕

Bridal Ventures

"Taxiii" she yelled as she clutched her fancy white long dress that had been sweeping the streets when she had ran from the church.

 Robbin held the side of her dress revealing her lower legs, to accommodate herself better for approaching the taxis, running in the middle of the street in the mid day, when the clouds couldn't decide whether to cover the sun rays. 

 Like those stupid  four inch pencil heels weren't bad enough.

 She held her matching white clutch tightly in the other hand that she had bought with the dress from her maternal aunt's boutique. For it carried all the money, her cards and her cell phone.

 Oh she was one prepared bride to run away.

 Finally a black and yellow taxi stopped in front of her with a loud screech. When Robbin realized she was being watched by the amused by passers she showed them the finger, rolled her eyes and picking the falls of her layered sleeveless dress recklessly she opened the door of the back seat and sat as she stuffed her dress inside the vehicle and banged the door close.

 " 24th Parksville" she breathed exhaustively and yanked her fancy headpiece off of her hair and threw it on the seat.

 The taxi driver just smiled at her through the rear mirror in agreement and let out a muffled laugh seeing a mad woman dressed as a bride.

 "What?" she annoyingly asked. She wasn't being amused right now.

 The loose strands of her fancy hairstyle flew behind her due to the windy air coming in through the half rolled window, as her hand rested on the side of her head.

 She knew running around the city in a fancy dress wasn't something the people of  Salamanca were used to seeing. But it wasn't funny and she couldn't care less.

 Why people just couldn't mind their own business? To hell with them!

She had bigger problems at hand. 

 While the taxi driver roamed around the streets of Salamanca among buildings of all sizes, trying to find the address Robbin had given him, her brain popped an idea. 

It might be a good idea to inform that friend of hers whose residence she was soon to approach.

 Abusing the touch screen of her phone Robbin repeatedly dialed the engaged number of Amber and mentally cursed her friend who wasn't aware of her friend in need.

 The taxi had entered and exited numerous streets in order to find the absurd address this crazed woman had told him. While Robbin's patience was reaching its end her phone rang and she sighed a relief seeing Amber's goofy picture flashing on the screen.

 "Where the hell are you?!" Robbin scolded her clueless friend.

 "what? Where are YOU?" Amber asked confused, as she finished putting her matching heels on, with the sky-blue bridesmaid dress, as she heard the distracting street noises.

 "don't leave your house, I'm coming there in about ten minutes" Robbin hurriedly said without letting her confused friend speculate any further.

 Before the words fell out of Amber’s mouth Robbin had hung up. 

 Amber looked at her phone in shock, not being able to believe the nerve of her friend.

 What was she up to now?

 She looked at herself all dressed up for the wedding, contemplating changing into casuals.  Trying to comprehend the turn of the events she wondered if she  was hallucinating.

 With Robbin anything and everything was expected.

 Amber's mind was still tangled up  when she heard the door bell rang. It continued to ring until Amber covered the distance in fast pace.

 The frequency of the ringing of the bell talked of urgency.

 "Robbin?"

 "You may now kiss the bride" the priest dressed in a spotless white robe announced. His face was lined with the warmth radiating for the start of something new and his eyes spoke of blessings and wishes that he had showered upon the newly weds. Almost newly weds. 

 The man dressed in a classic black tux, hair slicked back, clean shaven, closed his eyes and moved closer to kiss the girl whose hand he had been holding for the last couple of minutes.

 He was counting the minutes till all the rituals of this ceremony finished so he could take her home, forever to keep.

 He moved forward and pouted his lips slightly hoping to taste the juicy peachy lips of his new bride.

 Only to kiss thin air and be slapped by her absence.

 As soon as he opened his eyes, there was a loud gasp from the crowd.

 His bride was gone.

 Did she just disappear into thin air? Did she teleport to a parallel universe? Did the air just swallow her?

 All the bizarre questions popped one after the other.

 The very relaxed Christopher was now sweating the beads of stress. The order and discipline of the church had been shattered and the huge crowd in the shadow of the crucifix was now echoing with the hustle bustle of the attendees.

 The crowd had started to wonder about the bride's sudden disappearance.

 Christopher tried to dial her number but like always her phone was engaged. His nerves were on the verge of exploding and here were all these random guests who were balking like chickens trapped in a tiny house, restless to run on the streets. Except these people were balk-balking out of curiosity as to where the newly wedded bride flew away.

 The priest silently read something smiling on the wooden rosary and walked out of the main hall into the sacristy.

 Christopher looked up at the humble image of the crucifix which shone in the bright sun rays and shook his head at his disaster of a wedding.

 Oh dear god.

 She ran across the street during the rush hour, almost getting hit by a dark blue car. Robbin almost dropped her extra large coffee and barely made it to the other end of street.

 She didn't have the patience to wait for the pedestrian signal to cross the street neither did she have the time.

 She had missed her alarms and the long line at the coffee shop only added to her frustration, and now she was late for an important meeting.

 Robbin ran to her high rise office building and as she was about to open the door she heard a girl scream.

 "Taxiii"

 She turned around and saw a girl dressed in a white bridal dress, frustrated with the amount of fabric wrapped around her, standing in the middle of the street trying to get a hold of a vehicle that would come to her rescue, so she could get away from the chaos she had created in the form of cars that were now running in every direction.

 Robbin smiled and remembered herself when she had landed herself in the same situation months ago.

 She shook her head at how crazy it sounded when she looked back at time but it happened for real, and she had done it.

 A smile of accomplishment flashed across her face and the days that followed flashed before her eyes. 

 The minute when Amber opened the door and remained in that bridesmaid's dress for hours not being able to come out of the shock and her numerous failed attempts at convincing her dear friend to return to her wedding. The days they spent goofing around trying to find a new place for Robbin and recklessly driving on the streets of Salamanca after midnight when they would simply get high on orange juice. That time when Amber wouldn't let Robbin go when she decided to move out of city just for the sake of exploring, and of course Robbin's first day at her new job had to be chaotic. 

 New job.

 Shit. Meeting. Oh Crap.

 As soon as she was brought out of her reverie she rushed inside the building. The delayed arrival of the elevator obviously increased her frustration.

 The meeting wasn't as bad as she had anticipated but from the shifty looks of her boss she knew he wasn't too pleased with her.

 Oh well, she was doing her best. That man was born to define grumpy.

 As everyone rushed out of the conference room, Robbin quickly shoved her belongings in her brown leather messenger bag and left the building to have some fresh air. These meetings were always too heavy for Robbin to breathe in.

 Like always she was in a rush and bumped into someone unexpected upon exiting the building.

 "Robbin?" he said out of surprise, shock and perhaps somewhat excitement.

 "Christ-o-pher?" she said with a twisted lip and a raised a confused eyebrow, not sure if it was the same guy she dumped months ago at his wedding, correction

their wedding. 

 "how have you been?" he tried to be polite, not sure how to approach the bubbling questions in his head about her sudden disappearance.

 "em.fine..you?' she wasn't sure how she could fake the happiness or any kind of interest. To be honest there was no feeling in her regarding this man.

 He was nice, kind and fun to be with, but maybe she just wasn't ready for the marriage or maybe she wasn't the wife material. And maybe she only realized this when she was almost completely married to him. Some people are wired that way, she’d reason. 

 Sometimes that bulb in the head lights at the wrong time.

 Better late than never.

 The two ended up at a coffee shop near her office building, Robbin tried not to tell him much about herself, basically throughout the hours she only kept her eyes on the wall clock behind his head.

 When would this man shut up.

 For some odd reason he seemed very interested in her. Shouldn't he avoid her at all costs, and never want to see her again and all? 

Robbin wondered.

 What kind of a man was he? yapping like a wild duck in front of his almost married bride who ditched him on the last minute. Right before the supposedly delightful kiss.

Oh that must have felt hard.

 Robbin couldn't help but muffle a laugh imagining his situation in front of the priest when he was all ready to kiss his invisible bride.  

 Oh the embarrassment.

Days turned into weeks, weeks turned into months and soon without even realizing their interaction had started to grow and oddly enough Robbin wasn't trying to avoid him.

 Even odder, Christopher wasn't enraged, in fact he had started to see her in a completely new light.

Chapter 3

You decided to take Zeeshan out to the playground. Zee took KitKat and waited by the door, the sight was so cute. You decided to snap a picture to add to your scrapbook. Zee started getting impatient. KitKat was your neighbor’s cat, she was dropped off at our place because Mr. Casey had to go out of town due to some family emergency.

“Mama……out……want to go to playground……pweese with KitKit ” Zee shouted top of his lungs.

You rushed downstairs taking the back with all the necessities. Your son taking hold of your index finger in his little hand and walked towards the playground. Unfortunately for you, the playground was closed due to some outbreak. That didn’t bode well with your son, his eyes started watering and his pout was well on its way to turning into a full-blown cry.

 “Hey…Zee want to go to the other park?”

Zee nodded. Goddamn, your kid was petulant. After walking around a bit, you found a playground for Zee. As soon as he saw slide he left you alone with KitKat and stared in awe at the other older kids on the slide, see-saw, jungle gym. A girl saw Zeeshan and invited him to play with him in the sandbox, your son looked at you with those big emerald green eyes asking for permission, you chuckled to yourself and nodded. He held the little girl’s hand and started playing with her. You took KitKat and sat down near the sandbox bench. You didn’t notice when another lady came and sat near you.

“So which one is yours?”

You snapped out of your reverie, turning towards the sound. She looked older, older than most kids’ mom. She might be here with her grand kids, you assumed. You smiled and pointed at your brown haired boy playing in the sand happily.

“The one right there playing in the sand with the girl with pigtails” you replied with pride.

“Are you new? I never saw you here before” she inquired.

“Yeah…In a sense, I am new to this city, but no I don’t live in this neighborhood, I came here from Parksville, in our neighborhood, the playground was closed due to some outbreak. And Mr. Pout-A-Lot Crybaby was not having a minute of it. So here am I”

“I know…my sons they were like it too…” she remembered old days fondly.

“So which one is yours?”

“Oh no…no I came here for a walk, I always loved watching kids play, the contentment, the enjoyment on their face is priceless. I came here with my neighbor, her kid is the one in pigtails”

“I am Y/N Y/L/N, that little monster is Zeeshan” you extended a hand, she immediately took it.

“I am Mary Winchester and that little angel playing with your monster is Hannah”

The Winchester..the name gave you a shiver, it is a common surname, right? You thought.

 At that instant, Zee came lunging towards you.

“My mama…my mama” trying to pry your hand away from Mary.

Mary was stunned for a second. The brown haired kid looked like mini-Dean. She could have sworn that Dean looked like that when he was a toddler.

“Zee” you sternly commanded.

“That is not how you behave with elders, say sorry right now”

“I sorry, Mama.” He pouted and his eyes filled with tears.

“No…say sorry to Mary”

“I sorry…Mary” Zee hiccupped.

“It is ok, Zeeshan” Mary tried to calm the unknown child. Her heart melted seeing the poor boy. To Mary, he almost felt like her own.

 Mary took Zeeshan in her arms, shushing the kid. Zee put his head in the crook of Mary’s neck and took a deep breath.

“You like Grammy” Zee whispered.

Mary smiled. She wanted to ask you about his father but she didn’t want to sound too intrusive.

KitKat meowed, signaling you its hunger. Zee jumped in your lap and petted the kitten. Seeing Zee’s drowsy state, you decided to leave.

“I am sorry Mary. He is very possessive of me”

“Oh, hush…I understand, he loves his mother the most.” Mary replied kindly.

“I have to go now, KitKat needs its food and Mr. Crybaby needs his nap” you hastily got up, collecting your stuff.

“I will see you both tomorrow,” she said it like a question.

You turned and smiled.

“Yeah…you definitely would”
