but,, I didn’t really read it as it feeling good about killing someone so much as feeling good that it has made the team realize that it isn’t some little robot that wants to be human, and it doesn’t want to be assimilated into their group because it isn’t human. It’s a construct. They cannot and should not assume that it wants to be like them - it shouldn’t have to change or be human to be accepted

So I thought it was more of a “it feels good that this is making them rethink their little uwu poor little meow meow narrative when that’s kind of condescending and I am way more familiar with how fucked up my situation is than they are?”

Work rant:

It took this author three months past their deadline to finish their 7k word book and now I have three weeks left to illustrate the whole thing. While they were getting their shit together I illustrated two other books and wrote close to ten times as many words in my spare time. Yes, I am bragging and complaining in the same post, I'm too stressed and annoyed to be humble. This would have gone faster if I did all the work myself.

Things I deeply wish my comms clients would tell me before they commissioned me, but that nobody ever does, or that are entirely unrealistic to expect them to do/know:

Whether they want something that looks real good, or something that fits a hyper specific image in their head. Most people make me guess and it's always more work to correct course halfway through

In general if they're here for a precise execution of a vision, or creation of a reference, or for a fun illustration

Whether they are answering my questions about which pose or colour they want at random or not, so I can maybe just take that off their hand bc its ok not to have studied colour theory, i did it for you, that's what you pay me for, but it's not okay to force your special little guy into an atrocious shade of lime green bc u felt pressured to pick something

Huh, so my company has pulled their sponsorship for San Diego Pride, specifically citing "disagreement with their choice of headline performer" as the reason why. That's really unexpected, but also pretty cool. We've been sponsors for the last three years and it's nice to see them willing to stop over this.

Every once in a while my corporate overlords get it right.

For anyone who missed it, San Diego hired an antisemitic performer to headline and refused to rethink that choice when contacted by local Jewish groups. The canned response they sent my company reads:
