These are the minimum (1) and maximum (2) versions of the fanart for my OneShot "Happy Halloween Happenings" over at Ao3.

A couple days before Halloween this year, after a few too many comedic movies and crack fics, I just couldn't get the idea out of my head of Todd enjoying messing with the New Lanteans once Shep told him about the Tau'ri legends of Earth's vampires.

Although it isn't explicitly mentioned, the picture (and fic) is set in some obscure future after Season 5, where Sam is already back on Earth ('cause in my mind she belongs with Jack), Richard has taken over civil leadership (good character arc and evolution, that one), the Wraith are a more common feature in Atlantis (mayhaps due to a working gene therapy allowing them to live off "normal" food, as I like to imagine for my HCs?) and Carson('s clone) is back in the thick of it (I don't actively hate or even dislike Keller, but Beckett will always be my favorite of these two). Also, Evan is the pirate taking the photo.

this series is EXACTLY WHAT IVE BEEN NEEDING ok ok listen yes it has scary monsters and fight scenes and blowing stuff up BUT it also has substantial fluff

we get to see the characters making a home in small ways from a favourite food in the cafeteria to rc car races in an unused hallway

THEY CALL THEMSELVES A FAMILY THATS MY LIFELINE A FOUND FAMILY CALLING THEMSELVES A FAMILY

the words "we can't tear this family apart" in life threatening situations give me life and they are said a bunch of times

the creators hate killing characters off as much as we hate losing them so a lot of mc deaths get "well, actually"d in a way that made sense (such as getting really upset that my fave Carson died only to have his clone be rescued half a season later and be reintegrated into the mc circulation)

and the series finale was AMAZING. spoiler alert skip this paragraph if you don't wanna read details about the finale. it gave a reasonably hefty threat for a finale, but everyone survived (other fave Ronan got well-actually'd and I'm thankful because he's the teddy bear protector and I would've cried) and found a home. atlantis is on earth, the family is together, and it ends with the well-loved all mc's are on a balcony overlooking a beautiful view and saying that theyre each other's home and there are always going to be other adventures. - end finale spoilers -

even the bad guys are personified. you mightve seen my post about Todd, and Todd is The Original Funnyman. this guy has the best sense of humour in the whole show. then there's Michael, and you feel for him. the replicators... uhh... yeah most of the replicators are unremarkable personality-wise, but hey they're robots.

now for mc's. this is a no-rodney mckay-hate blog, so if you say anything hateful about him I'll stab u. yes he's arrogant and a know-it-all and he thinks he's better than everyone and has the social skills of a stale cracker BUT he has GROWTH and is slowly RECOGNIZING AND TRYING TO TREAT PEOPLE BETTER and he's My Boi so fite me 9/10

Sheppard is hilarious and is responsible for the awful placeholder names for individual wraith. he has serious Burnt Out Gifted Kid Vibes and is definitely smarter than he lets on. atlantis crew is definitely the first Family he's had and feels safe with. I love him 11/10

Teyla is awesome and would absolutely kill for her adopted earth family. also turns out to be Best Mum 10/10

Ronan. my beloved puppy Ronan. played by the absolute unit that is Jason mamoa. he is a man of few words and many guns. atlantis crew saved him and he's the last of his people and now the base is His Home. Sheppard calls him "chewie" affectionately and Ronan smiles every time. 20/10 I would absolutely feel safe with him around

Dr Carson beckett. a Scotsman who will even try to heal his enemies. besties with Rodney McKay and keeps him in check. he's so lovable and sweet 11/10 his clone goes away for the Pegasus galaxy version of doctors without borders 9/10 I'm just glad he's back

Radek zelenka. his most common subtitle is [mutters in Czech] he's so soft and squishy I love him. he shares a braincell with Rodney and they finish each other's sentences it's like they're very competitive twins 10/10

Elizabeth weir. not quite the Mum but definitely the Older Sister In Charge. I miss you so much. rip 11/10

there are a lot more that I love but I'm just gonna leave it here. you should absolutely go watch it.

if you don't want spoilers, the medical doctor on SGA is probably who ART's blorbo is? picture bones from star trek but if he was scottish, and not space racist

if you don't mind spoilers for stargate: atlantis...

dr. carson beckett is part of the main cast at the beginning of SGA, he's a very kind-hearted guy who puts up with everyone's idiosyncrasies (but he will still enforce concussion protocols etc because he cares about you, no matter how much you complain)

in season 3 there is an episode called "sunday". basically the premise of it is everyone is taking a day off, and we follow a few different characters who are spending the day playing golf, sparring, going out to lunch, painting, etc. carson is desperately trying to find someone who will agree to go fishing with him but nobody wants to :(

anyway an explosion happens, turns out some alien weapon creates explosive tumors in people (?!). carson removes a tumor from somebody and is trying to get it to the bomb disposal people, but it explodes before it's safely contained, and he dies.

against the backdrop of nobody wanting to hang out with him all day and then feeling unimaginably guilty that they didn't just go fishing with him when he asked, and also the tone of most of the rest of the episode, it's seriously a brutal character death emotionally. it pains me so much

but! he kind of comes back later in the show because there's this clone stuff that happens. so yeah that's probably ART's blorbo

looking at this ship I realized that I didn't really think of Clone Carson as another Carson, just as Carson who came back from the dead if that makes sense. I guess he is a new person but still in my mind it didn't make a difference, which is why "Clone Carson" is kinda weird for me to ship if that makes sense?

Also I haven't watched season 4 and 5 in a long long time so... I'm not really sure how I feel about this. Also, it's not that i totally dislike Keller, but she is just... not my focus? and also not the most shippable person to me? I know the writers tried to pair her up with just about everyone but... I don't see it?

I guess in order to ship her I would... have to write her character completely?

it might have become clear that I have some issues with the characters itself which makes it a bit difficult to come up with something but I'll try nonetheless.

Looking past everything I just said i think it might work?

Carson being ever so lovely would love to help Jennifer find her place on Atlantis and in the Pegasus Galaxy, he probably understands her anxieties better than a lot of people and being the caretaker that he is he would try to help her through it.

Actually, as I'm writing, I'm realizing more and more that I *do* have issues with Jennifer and the way she was written, especially in regards with Rodney? She comes onto the show being all frightened and feeling unprepared and shit and the only times she kinda gets out of her shell is when she's with a love interest? Not... not a fan of that.

I think I'm gonna stop rambling now because my brain is going many different places and getting hung up on my issues with the characters you presented me with xD i think it would be more realistic if Clone Carson would just take Jennifer by the hand and kinda be a guide for her? and they could help each other through their anxieties. and jennifer would make carson go to therapy as soon as they got to talk a bit more. So... Jennifer/Clone Carson: not a ship for me, but could be a cute friendship

i just got to clone!beckett and i wasnt ready... cried when they put him in cryo. i was 100% too young to watch this when it aired the first time even though i vaguely remember? so this feels like the first time? but fuCK.   HIS NOTE TO HIS MOM LIKE! BRO! HOW DARE THEY! THIS WEE LAD! also....,,, the mcbeckett ideas in my mind rn... the way rodney immediately glommed onto him and wouldnt let him think of himself as lesser just bc he was a clone... and the coDEPENDENCY! i’m just saying, my rewrite of this episode includes: rodney smooching the everloving fuck out of clone!carson, carson being like !!!! because he does NOT remember -- okay there was that one time but it doesn’t count -- he does NOT remember rodney wanting to smooch him like that and then we are treated to the flashbacks of rodney n beckett getting together in those 6 months before the explosion as rodney explains himself to cloneson and and and ugh. carson goes, well that makes a bit more sense now, i reckon. and rodney is MORTIFIED but also determined not to waste a minute of the little time they have together. he knows how precious it is now. :ccc
