pt 1
✧. ┊ PAIRING: single dad!arthur leclerc x gender-neutral!reader
✧. ┊ WORDS: 2k
✧. ┊ TAGS/WARNINGS: fluff, maybe a curse word here and there. kids. love.

Love was not something that frequented my list of words. While Arthur and I had been going out for three months now, the very thought of 'loving' him seemed silly. Fairytale-like. Unreal. I know better than to crave something no more real than elves and goblins.
Then what is it I fucking feel everytime he speaks to me?
"Can you bring some collations? Like uh...popcorn?" he talks hurriedly over the phone, chasing Freddy around the house to try and get his pants on.
"Snacks?"
"Yes, mon coeur, snacks," he coos, the accent getting to me again.
"Yeah, sure, easy. I'll see you in fifteen." I hang up, driving down to the store to get an assortment of snacks. Cheap ones, obviously, no one's paying more than $2 for a packet of popcorn. Even the flithy rich Monegasques.
By the time I knock, the door’s already open. Arthur stands there with his hair slightly damp, a faded hoodie hanging off one shoulder, and Freddy perched on his hip like he’s always belonged there.
“You came,” he says, a little breathless.
“You called,” I reply, holding up the plastic bag. “Popcorn, chocolate, Doritos.”
Freddy leans forward, little eyes shimmering with excitement. “You brought chocolate?”
I nod. “I did, bud.”
Arthur steps aside to let me in, balancing Freddy with one arm as he nudges the door shut with his foot. The place smells faintly of cinnamon and laundry detergent. His apartment is as messy as always, a half-built blanket fort caved in on one side, the TV screen paused on a Pixar logo, and socks—multiple, unmatched. A detail that speaks more than words.
“I was going to clean,” Arthur says, “but Freddy was very naughty.”
“You lost, I see.”
“Badly.”
Freddy wriggles down and disappears into the cushions with the snacks. Arthur doesn’t look at me right away. Just exhales, runs a hand through his hair.
“You okay?” I ask.
He nods. “Yeah. Just tired. It's been a long week.”
He says it like a confession. Like he isn’t sure he’s allowed to admit it.
I sit down next to him, close enough that our knees touch. He doesn’t pull away. There’s no fanfare to it—just the weight of being near someone you trust not to ask for more than you can give.
“Want tea?” he offers after a moment. Tea is his consolation when moments get awkward. An excuse to escape.
I shake my head. “Just this is fine.”
He nods again, slower this time. Like he hears it for what it is. Not a dismissal. A choice.
Freddy’s already started the movie, humming under his breath, half-wrapped in a fleece blanket on the floor. Arthur leans back beside me, arms crossed loosely, his eyes drifting toward his son and then back to the screen.
Arthur and I aren't physical. Or affectionate. It's hard to define what exactly we are but we both play a game of caution. Of fear. One move too far, one signal misinterpreted, and it's all over. So we sit on the couch, distantly.
Not far enough to be strangers. Not close enough to be lovers. Just… close enough to feel it.
The movie starts, some animated opening sequence with a talking animal and too much colour. Freddy giggles, mouth already sticky from melted chocolate, and Arthur smiles faintly at the sound. I catch him glancing my way. Quick. Unsure. Like he's still figuring out what he's allowed to feel around me. Like he’s waiting for me to laugh first, to say this is fine, that I won’t ask him to be more than what he can be.
I don’t laugh. But I don’t move either.
“You could have said no, you know,” he murmurs eventually, voice almost lost beneath the dialogue on the screen.
“To what?”
“Coming over. Doing… this.” He gestures vaguely, like the concept of popcorn and presence is somehow overwhelming.
“I didn’t want to say no.”
He glances down at his lap. His fingers twist in the hem of his hoodie. “Sometimes, I worry you are being just nice.”
I turn, brows furrowing. “Arthur—”
“It is not easy,” he says quickly. “I know. You know. I have got Freddy, and my hours are shit, and I forget things all the time. I forget to reply to your texts. I fall asleep halfway through calls. I’m not—” He cuts himself off, breathing hard.
“Perfect?” I finish for him.
He nods, once.
“Good,” I say, softer. “I’m not either.” I inch closer cautiously, placing a gentle hand on his arm.
"Que ferais-je sans toi?" He whispers, his eyes meeting my own. They're tired. But loving.
"Um..bonjour to you too," Arthur lets out a carefree chuckle at my statement. Freddy does too. He's observant, the kid. Destined to be great.
Arthur takes a second. Two. A minute. And then he opens his arms, patting his bicep. I let myself smile, slipping into his embrace. Maybe I should stop denying what I want. Him. He wraps his arms around me, lips pressed to the top of my head. I watch the movie but I'm not really watching the movie. I'm just feeling the warmth of all this. Of him. Of his hands aimlessly tracing my skin. Freddy's giggles at the jokes. Arthur pecks my head again, the sound causing Freddy to turn and exclaim.
"Hey, I wanna cuddle too!" He grabs his blankets, waddling to us and lying across our laps.
Freddy’s weight settles across us, warm and wiggly and perfect. Arthur chuckles, shifting to make room, one hand supporting his son, the other still loosely wrapped around me. It’s clumsy, this pile of limbs and fleece and feelings. But it fits. Somehow, we all fit.
The movie hums on in the background, bright colours flickering against the walls, cheerful music underscoring a scene I’ll never remember. Because all I can focus on is this moment. This breath. This weight. Freddy sighing contentedly. Arthur's hand still tracing gentle, absentminded circles into the fabric of my shirt. My heart thudding too fast for how still I’m sitting.
I shouldn't want this as much as I do.
But I do.
And that scares the hell out of me.
I lean into Arthur without meaning to. He doesn't pull away. If anything, he draws me in closer, his chin resting against my temple like it's the most natural thing in the world. My eyes slip shut for just a second.
This isn’t what I planned. Love was not something that frequented my list of words. It wasn’t supposed to be this quiet, this real, this utterly ordinary.
But maybe that’s the thing about love.
Maybe it doesn’t arrive with violins or grand confessions. Maybe it just slips in on a Friday night, between popcorn bags and blanket forts, between tired smiles and soft French murmurs.
Maybe it’s just this.
Uncomplicated.
Unannounced.
Arthur’s fingers tighten ever so slightly on my arm. Freddy shifts, letting out a small, contented hum, and Arthur kisses my temple one last time.
I don’t say it out loud. Not yet.
But I think I love him.
And maybe. Just maybe. That isn’t silly at all.

STAR WARS PREQUELS - A TIMELINE
So, what's this about, huh? After recently sitting down with Star Wars Timelines, I was genuinely surprised at just how much they were willing to nail down to a specific year and sequence of events, which admittedly is a reference book and those are pretty low on the canon totem pole so be prepared for future retcons down the road, but it's shockingly useful information to have! Because the more I paged through it, the more I realized just how useful it would be for fic writers, especially for anything that might be referenced by a prequels character. Do you want to know how old the Jedi Order basically is? What the eras were called, if a prequels character wanted to reference them? What year did Dooku leave the Jedi? When did Naboo join the Republic? When was the Republic founded? When was the Jedi Temple built? When was Yaddle born? When did the Togruta ally with the Republic? Was Anakin born on Tatooine? When did Plo discover Ahsoka? When did Anakin get his first kyber crystal? When did Obi-Wan join the Jedi Council? WHEN DOES THE MANDALORIAN CIVIL WAR TAKE PLACE?? Some of this is SO INTERESTING to have nailed down into place--like just how old Huyang is or that the Jedi Temple was constructed on Coruscant BEFORE the Republic existed! Useful for me to know, but also my prequels-era characters to know! This book is willing to tell us A LOT and I collated everything I thought would be useful for a prequels character to know! ERAS:
c.5,000 BBY– 1,032 BBY: Ancient conflicts "The Jedi and Sith wage a series of wars throughout their history so ruinous that at points each is brought to the brink of destruction."
c.500 BBY–330 BBY: "The Age of Exploration" "After centuries of governing in regions near the galactic Core, the Republic sets out to explore the Outer Rim. This era of exploration on the frontier presents many adventures and opportunities for the Republic and the Jedi Order alike, but growth also leads them to uncover new mysteries and dangers. Soon the Jedi Order’s very connection to the Force is put to the test."
c.500 BBY–100 BBY: "The High Republic" The four hundred years that are collectively referred to as the High Republic era.
TIMELINE:
c.25,025 BBY: BIRTH OF THE JEDI
"The Jedi Order is founded. Among the earliest locations, and likely the first, is a temple constructed on the planet of Ahch-To. Later, the temple retains the most treasured Jedi texts and earliest writings on the Order’s faith. For eons, these noble protectors stand united by their ability to harness the power of the Force itself for good."
c.25,020 BBY: Professor Huyang powered up "The architect droid Professor Huyang begins training Jedi younglings in the delicate art of lightsaber construction."
c.20,000 BBY: Dawn of the Republic
"The foundation of the Republic is formed through an alliance including Coruscant, Corellia, and Alderaan, prompted by the dawn of hyperspace travel."
c.5,000 BBY: Creeping darkness
"A dark-side sect splinters from the Jedi, causing the formation of the Sith. This fracture is the genesis of a millennia-long rivalry."
c.5,000 BBY–1,032 BBY: "The Sith battle the Jedi in numerous conflicts for thousands of years before their struggle comes to an end, resulting in the destruction of the Sith Empire."
c.5,000 BBY–1,032 BBY: "The Sith build shrines on planets, including Malachor and Moraband. They covet these locations for their connection to the dark side of the Force."
c.1,050 BBY: A Mandalorian Jedi
"Tarre Vizsla becomes the first of the Mandalorian warriors to be inducted as a member of the Jedi Order. The unique lightsaber he constructs comes to be known as the Darksaber, later stolen to be used as a symbol to unite his planet."
c.1,032 BBY: Coruscant Temple erected
"The main Jedi Temple on Coruscant is constructed at the same location where there was once a Sith shrine."
c.1,032 BBY: "Darth Bane, the last surviving Sith, recognizes that infighting and back-stabbing ultimately led to the downfall of the Sith Empire. He declares the Rule of Two, whereby there can only be a sole master and single apprentice of the Sith. The practice safeguards the inherently selfish Order from self-destruction, thus ensuring the survival of the Sith for centuries to come."
1,000 BBY: Reformation of the Republic
"The first incarnation of the democratic alliance of planets, the Galactic Republic, is reformed."
c.972 BBY: Rules of war
"The Galactic Accord of Systems establishes a set of rules of engagement, in the event another war should break out."

600 BBY:
Jabba Desilijic Tiure is born.
509 BBY:
Yaddle is born.
c.392 BBY: PATHFINDERS
"The Republic and the Jedi establish Pathfinder teams to explore new hyperspace lanes in the farthest reaches of the galaxy. A team of Pathfinders typically includes two Jedi, a master and their apprentice, who work together with their Republic allies to discover new ways through dangerous and unexplored places. They work with communications teams who lay the groundwork for the infrastructure needed for Republic growth. In return for their efforts, the Jedi Order hopes to gain new understanding of the galaxy, new cultures, and the Force."
c.383 BBY: THE HYPERSPACE RUSH
"Independent explorers also race to discover new paths through hyperspace. These prospectors risk their lives in perilous, uncharted corners of the Outer Rim, hoping to find safer, shorter routes. Families like the Grafs and San Tekkas earn great fame and fortune by selling their knowledge of these new hyperlanes."
382 BB The First High Republic book of Phase II
The High Republic: Path of Deceit kicks off the second phase of books, set 150 years before the previous phase.
382 BBY: Battle of Jedha
"The Path of the Open Hand instigates a battle on the sacred moon of Jedha."
232 BBY The First High Republic book of Phase I:
The High Republic: Light of the Jedi, which kicks off the original era of the High Republic (out of universe, not in universe), starting with the Great Hyperspace Disaster where a ship explodes in hyperspace over the planet Hetzal Prime. This ignites an intergalactic conflict with the Nihil that draws the Jedi and the Republic into a massive connected, long-running series of battles against them.
232 BBY:
"Dignitaries and Jedi gather at the Starlight Beacon for its official dedication ceremony."
The Great Hyperspace Disaster (the Legacy Run explodes in hyperspace) happens and the Jedi rush to help mitigate the disaster and evacuate as many people as they can.
"The brave deeds of the Jedi Order [in the Great Hyperspace Disaster] are cast across the galaxy via holotransmissions, making Kriss and her fellow Jedi heroes."
The Emergences: "Though Hetzal has been saved by the heroics of the Jedi, fragments of the Legacy Run continue to threaten the frontier. Fear grips the Outer Rim as blazing wreckage of the ship appears with little warning from hyperspace. As the Republic seeks answers to these Emergences, a group of Jedi stranded in a forgotten corner of space unknowingly cause a far older and more sinister threat to emerge: the Drengir."
"Wreckage from the Legacy Run scatters through hyperspace, endangering the Outer Rim. The first of the Emergences after the Great Hyperspace disaster occurs at Ab Dalis, killing 20 million beings."
"The Nihil strike on Elphrona, intending to ransom well-connected homesteaders and capture a Jedi for Marchion Ro’s evil machinations."
"The Jedi Council votes to join the Republic against the Nihil."
232 BBY: A BEACON OF HOPE
"With the Great Disaster behind them, the Republic and Jedi refocus on the opening of the Starlight Beacon. This towering space station located in the Outer Rim is one of Chancellor Lina Soh’s Great Works, meant to provide a symbol of hope in a dark corner of the galaxy. This shining example of Republic unity and progress serves as a vital base for the ongoing struggles with the Nihil and Drengir."
"One of Chancellor Lina Soh’s Great Works, the Starlight Beacon, begins operation after a dedication ceremony attended by Republic dignitaries and prominent members of the Jedi Order. The station is to be just one of many beacons, serving to connect, inspire, and serve the Republic’s growth in the Galactic Frontier. The Jedi maintain a permanent presence on the station under the leadership of Marshal Kriss and the watchful eye of the exacting Jedi Master Estala Maru."
"Hunting the Nihil - Though it lacks a formal military, the Republic forms a special task force to hunt the Nihil, with Joss and Pikka Adren among the first volunteers."
"The Jedi broker the Ayelina-Ludmere trade agreement."
232 BBY: GROWTH OF THE DRENGIR
"The carnivorous Drengir take root across wide swaths of the frontier. Their lust for living flesh, which they consider “meats,” leads them to attack hundreds of worlds. Defenseless settlers and the Jedi alike struggle to repel these horrifying plantlike creatures."
231 BBY: THE REPUBLIC FAIR
"Chancellor Lina Soh’s next Great Work is a magnificent fair on Valo. Meant to celebrate the Republic and its many achievements, the event turns into a tragedy. The Nihil mount a merciless raid on the fairgoers, destroy the event, and nearly kill the chancellor. The Jedi defenders mount a valiant defense but are outnumbered."
231 BBY: FIGHT FOR THE FRONTIER
"The Jedi march across the frontier as they seek justice for the attack on the Valo fair. With the Drengir threat seemingly settled, they turn their attention to the scattered Nihil forces. The Jedi believe that they are gaining the upper hand, but are unaware of who leads the raiders and their ultimate goal. The Nihil Tempest Runners bear the brunt of the assault while the Eye of the Nihil, Marchion Ro, prepares a new weapon to fight the Jedi."
"The Republic-Togruta Alliance is formed."
230 BBY: FALL OF STARLIGHT
"The Nameless wreak havoc among the Jedi, who fight valiantly in Starlight’s final moments. Master Estala Maru sacrifices his own life to delay the top half of the station from burning up in Eiram’s atmosphere. Below, Master Stellan Gios stays behind to ensure the lower portion will not strike a populated city on the planet’s surface."

He dies after its extraction. Palpatine and Nala Se insist the tumor be sent to a Republic medical facility, but Shaak Ti decides it must go to the Jedi Temple first. Kix helps Fives arrange a meeting with Anakin and Rex. Fives tells them about the inhibitor chips and the plot against the Jedi, but his story sounds like a paranoid conspiracy and he becomes agitated. [Ventress dies.]"
"Having left the Jedi Order, Ahsoka befriends Trace Martez, a mechanic in the Coruscant underlevels, and her sister Rafa. Ahsoka discovers the Pykes are working for Maul, who is on Mandalore. "Separatists commanded by Admiral Trench invade the Republic stronghold of Anaxes and repeatedly defeat clone counterattacks. Rex is disturbed that the Separatists seem to be adapting rapidly to his strategies and suspects Trench is using some new combat algorithm. He proposes raiding the Separatists’ cyber center to discover their secret. The mission succeeds with assistance from an unorthodox unit of genetically altered clones known as the Bad Batch."
"Anakin joins Rex’s clones and the Bad Batch to raid the Techno Union’s facility on Skako Minor, fighting their way through Wat Tambor’s droid legions. 19 BBY: REVENGE OF THE SITH:
"Anakin and Obi-Wan fly through the titanic space battle, dodging salvos of laser fire exchanged by Republic and Separatist capital ships in an effort to reach the Invisible Hand, where Palpatine is being held. With the Separatists cut off from their jump point, the battle degenerates into a brutal slugging match, with ships burning up in orbit and debris raining down upon the Coruscant cityscape below. "Yoda heads to Kashyyyk to bolster its defense."
"On Maul’s command, Saxon shoots Almec before Ahsoka can finish questioning him, then makes his getaway."
"At Coruscant’s Galaxies Opera House, Palpatine plays on Anakin’s anger and doubt about the Jedi’s integrity, guessing that they asked him to be their spy. He tells Anakin the story of Darth Plagueis, a Sith Lord who could save people from dying. Anakin, fearful his nightmares are a premonition of Padmé’s fate, is intrigued—particularly when Palpatine tells him it is not a power that can be learned from the Jedi."

"Clone troopers, Bo-Katan’s commandos, and Saxon’s warriors battle in the streets of Sundari, with the Republic’s forces winning the day."
"Ahsoka confronts Maul again, who tells her Sidious is behind everything and Anakin is the key to destroying the Sith. Maul is captured by Rex’s clones, with Saxon apprehended as well."
"On Utapau, Obi-Wan confronts Grievous. He duels the Separatist warlord and then chases him through the city’s winding tunnels and warrens."
"Palpatine reveals his true identity to Anakin and begs him to use his knowledge to save Padmé. Anakin vows to turn him over to the Jedi."
"Obi-Wan corners Grievous in a hangar on Utapau and kills the mechanical monster with a shot from a blaster."
"Imprisoned in a device that prevents him from using the Force, Maul is brought aboard a Jedi Cruiser destined for Coruscant, escorted by Ahsoka."
"Told of Palpatine’s identity, Windu orders Anakin to wait at the Jedi Temple while he arrests Sidious with Kit Fisto, Agen Kolar, and Saesee Tiin. Sidious kills Tiin, Fisto, and Kolar and duels Windu. He attacks Mace using lightning, which the Jedi Master deflects back at Sidious. Anakin arrives and pleads that Sidious be allowed to stand trial, but Windu says he’s too dangerous to be spared. Anakin makes a fateful decision, stopping Windu’s attack by severing his hand. Sidious blasts Windu with lightning, sending him through the broken window. Anakin pledges allegiance to Sidious, who grants him the name Darth Vader. He tells Anakin to go to the Jedi Temple and kill everyone there—that will make him strong enough with the dark side to save Padmé."
"Ahsoka and Maul sense a strong disturbance in the Force."
19 BBY: ORDER 66
"Sidious issues Order 66. Clone troopers across the galaxy obey their inhibitor chips and attack the Jedi, decimating the Order."
"Commander Cody targets Obi-Wan Kenobi on Utapau. The Jedi survives the attack, escapes offworld, and is rescued by Senator Organa. Aboard the Jedi Cruiser Tribunal, Rex manages to tell Ahsoka to “find Fives” before trying to kill her. She evades Rex’s fire and flees from his troopers. Commander Grey and his clone battalion execute Depa Billaba on Kaller. oda avoids death by killing Commander Gree and Captain Jek, and then escapes Kashyyyk with help from Chewbacca and Tarfful. On a Jedi Cruiser above Bracca, Jaro Tapal is cut down by clones from the 13th battalion, sabotaging the warship before he dies. Captain Jag downs Plo Koon’s starfighter during a patrol flight on contested Cato Neimoidia. Ki-Adi-Mundi is cut down by Commander Bacara’s Galactic Marines during infantry maneuvers on Mygeeto. Luminara Unduli is captured on Kashyyyk. After her execution, the Inquisitors spread rumors of her survival to ensnare other fugitive Jedi. Stass Allie is blasted by Commander Neyo while flying BARC speeders in a mop-up operation on Saleucami. Commander Bly gives the order to shoot Aayla Secura amid Felucia’s colorful fungi."
"Ahsoka prevents other clones from killing the imprisoned Maul. She releases him to create a diversion. While Maul wreaks havoc aboard the Tribunal, Ahsoka activates a trio of astromechs to help her evade Rex’s troops. Ahsoka locates Fives’ records, learning what happened to him and that Rex suspected the clones’ inhibitor chips have some ulterior purpose. Ahsoka subdues Rex and removes his inhibitor chip. Maul destroys the Tribunal’s hyperdrive, sending the doomed Jedi Cruiser careening toward the surface of a remote moon."
"Bail Organa arrives at the Jedi Temple to investigate the uprising and is confronted by clone troopers. He retreats under fire."
"Anakin, now known as Darth Vader and backed by the 501st Legion, marches on the Jedi Temple and slaughters its defenders. He shows no mercy, believing that the dark side is the only pathway to the unnatural powers he must command to save Padmé. As his rage and lust for power swell, not even younglings hiding in the Jedi Council chambers are safe from his lightsaber. Elsewhere, young Grogu survives a clone trooper attack but is haunted by his memories of the event."
"Anakin obeys Sidious’ command and kills the Separatist leaders on Mustafar, shutting down their droid armies and ending the Clone Wars."
"The Senate holds a special session, during which Palpatine—now scarred after his battle with Mace—details the Jedi plot to kill him and take control of the Senate. He proclaims the Republic is to be reorganized into the first Galactic Empire."
"Obi-Wan and Yoda fight their way into the Jedi Temple and recalibrate a signal to warn any surviving Jedi away."
"Padmé arrives on Mustafar, unknowingly bringing along Obi-Wan as a stowaway. Anakin uses the Force to choke her. As C-3PO and R2-D2 tend to Padmé, Anakin and Obi-Wan fight a running duel through the lava flows of Mustafar’s mining complex."
"On Coruscant, Yoda confronts Sidious and the two duel in the Senate Chamber, with Sidious hurling Senate pods at his Jedi enemy. Ascendant with dark-side power, Sidious proves too tough a foe for Yoda, who flees their duel, evading clone troopers sent to hunt him, and is whisked away by Bail Organa in an airspeeder. Sidious senses his new apprentice is in danger and hurries to Mustafar."
"Anakin is left maimed and burned after dueling Obi-Wan on Mustafar. Obi-Wan takes Anakin’s lightsaber and leaves him to die. Anakin survives and is encased in life-preserving black armor. As Darth Vader, he becomes the subject of rumors as the Emperor’s servant and enforcer"
Padme gives birth to Luke and Leia, then she dies. Bail Organa takes Leia to Alderaan and Obi-Wan takes Luke to the Lars' farm on Tatooine, going into exile there, while Yoda is on Dagobah.
"Ahsoka and Rex bury the clones at the Tribunal’s crash site. She leaves her lightsaber behind to find a new path."
19 BBY: GALAXY IN DARKNESS
"Tarkin tells Lama Su that the Kaminoans’ contracts are void and the need for future clones is being questioned."
"Padmé, appearing to still be pregnant, is laid to rest after a solemn funeral procession on Naboo."
"Mas Amedda presides at an Imperial rally held before Coruscant’s Jedi Temple to celebrate the defeat of the Order."
"Sidious abandons Vader on the desert planet Gattering with orders to seize a Jedi’s lightsaber and make it his own. Vader travels to a dark-side locus on Mustafar and bends Infil’a’s kyber crystal to his will, making it bleed red. By compelling the Force to serve his purposes, Vader takes an essential step in his journey as a Sith."
"Sidious puts Vader in charge of the Inquisitors, Force users who once served the light but were seduced or brutalized into following the dark side and are now responsible for hunting down and killing the galaxy’s fugitive Jedi. Vader proves a ruthless taskmaster, brutalizing his new underlings in combat training sessions and eliminating those who fail to live up to the standards demanded by him and the Emperor."
"Sidious orders Vader to lure the Jedi Order’s fugitive archivist Jocasta Nu to Coruscant’s Jedi Temple and capture her. An enraged Vader kills Commander Fox after clone troopers under his command fire on the Sith Lord at the Jedi Temple. Nu explains to Vader what he’s failed to realize: Sidious wants the memory crystal and its list so he can find a potential replacement for his apprentice. Vader kills Nu, tells Sidious she died trying to escape, and crushes the crystal."
"The Empire builds up its forces and begins enlisting and training conscript stormtroopers to replace the Republic’s clone soldiers."
"The Empire bombards Kamino’s cities, destroying all traces of the cloning program that played a critical role in the Clone Wars."
SOURCES & NOTES:
Star Wars Timelines by Kristin Baver, Jason Fry, Cole Horton, Amy Richau, and Clayton Sandell is the primary source for much of this, anything in quotation marks is sourced from here unless otherwise noted. This timeline is only quoting a small minority of what's available in the book, so it's recommended that you check it out for yourselves!
I have done my best to put everything in order even within the specific years, noting where I'm not 100% sure of the sequence of events.
If a "c.[YEAR]" is included, the spot is estimated, not hard fact, but in general it's a pretty trustworthy placement! Except for birthdays--they're not placed directly on the timeline, so I just kind of threw them in at the end most times.
Observation: Holy crap, the Clone Wars was NUTS.

did a quick binge of your deltarune analyses, and something sticks out to me... deltarune is a story stuck in the past, certainly, but there's an odd outlier- a figure who exists purely in the past, but seems to be willing us (and specifically us) to a brighter future. the voice, the person in the gonermaker sequence, and most likely gaster. a character who literally ONLY exists in the past-tense, someone with a legacy which darkens the earth, and yet (1/5)
(I've collated all the segments of your ask into this answer - hope that's ok!)
So, yes! Assuming the voice at the Gonermaker and when we fail at the Roaring Knight encounter is Gaster - for which we do have a fair amount of evidence saying so at this point - it is interesting that this figure from our past is cheering us on towards a "new future", isn't it?
I can see correlations between Gaster and the Knight, but I was never convinced it was anything more than similar thematics - it's possible that the Knight has suffered a similar fate to Undertale's Gaster, i.e. "Shattered across time and space". Look at the way its form distorts when Susie strikes it with Rude Buster... almost as if it's a projection from another world rather than its own tangible presence in this one. That combined with the similar hand markings (are those holes or titan eyes?) gives the two a lot in common.
But to me, Gaster's presence in the narrative is more as a... I don't want to say "showrunner" because he seems to have very little actual control over matters, but he's not exactly a passive audience member either. He's somewhere between those two, however - a spectator who is willing the player on to resolve the story of Deltarune and help to bring about his "new future"... whatever that might entail.
His final message to us at the end of a normal route chapter 4 is especially interesting: "It's still waiting... My Deltarune". Gaster (or whoever this voice is) is heavily invested in seeing this story to its conclusion, to the point where he identifies it as HIS story. Unless, of course, we have misunderstood and Deltarune means something different than what we've been led to believe. But it's way too early to say anything definitive on that right now.
But yes, wonderful observations, thank you for sharing them with me! Please never apologise for rambling, I love to read everyone's thoughts and the longer and more involved they are the better, say I! If anything, I should apologise to you for leaving this ask sitting for so long, haha! I hope you have a wonderful day, wherever you are :D

Hey, void. I want to create something. I could do with a hand, perhaps. Not sure quite how - probably to bounce ideas, gather footage, etc. It would be at a snail’s pace, fitting around work, but ultimately aiming to become a completed ‘thing’.
I’ve had an idea for a Venom fanvid/tribute, which also includes an implied Venom 4/fix it.
Might be alright, might be as successful as Venom’s smoothie
18+ only pls, due to mental health and kink topics littered across my blog (…and psyche).
I’ve got 2-3 songs I’d love to use - obviously, copyright stuff comes into it, and all I can hope is that the fact that it would be fan-made, not for profit, and not looking to go viral would keep it in the realms of allowed poetic liberty and freedoms.
Ideas:
- Aim to create high production value snippets of footage to create a V4 fix-it plot. Resources I can utilise:
Black slime
Cool lighting
Colour grading with DaVinci
I have a lean to stocky build which might look similar in a hoodie
Brown waxed jacket
Various locations, some of which I’m in touch with the land owners, including industrial, rural, and potentially a pond
- Craft a V4 narrative
Music choice
Snippets of fan-made content if I can make it to a high enough production value
Snippets of deleted scenes added if they fit
Snippets of existing scenes added if we can modify them enough to seem like new footage (so it doesn’t become confusing and seem like a memory sequence or time skip)
Story device which could help (texts on mobile, pipette of saltwater droplet landing on phone as Eddie texts Anne, etc)
Use of stock footage (if need to know about copyright though)
Compositing over existing footage
Vocal impressions (Is that too weird?) to convey a narrative
- Main creative directives:
Gritty and cathartic
Realistic
Eddie breaking down / not doing so good
Venom finding his way back (likely as a cockroach, then a fish, then a bird etc)
As cinematic as possible given limited resources
Colour grade and film similar to Venom 1, with the darker, grittier, ‘Alien’ approach
Could give reference to certain Comic scenes, though I tend to want to stay away from the comic representation and some of the backstory in favour of Tom Hardy’s portrayal and the vibes in Venom (2018). I love those ‘The Hunger’ scenes, and the re-merging scenes though. I’d love to include visual references to all that somehow, even if the context isn’t the same
3-5 min or more fan video (live action), though ideally 5-10 mins!
- Collaborative approach
I love bouncing ideas
I could do with a hand collating stock footage which fits, editing, writing, maintaining inspiration and motivation, sound side of things, recording bits if we were in the same area but the chances of that are slim to none
Mood boards would be awesome
There are so many good fics and writers out there and it’s hard to know the best direction to take it in
Basically: a think tank

My beige flag is that I love writing book club reading lists. I've got at least fifty lists on my Google Docs that are longer than a page, and which I don't intend to ever read with anybody. They exist just for the fun of collating and sequencing and such.

Collating a list of Stede's flashbacks/trauma-hallucinations across the seasons (so far). Hallucinations will be italicised. I hadn't realised just how many there were.
1x01
"this is what a man's work looks like" - Father Bonnet killing the goose, then verbally abusing Stede
"left your comfortable life" - family portrait, the family discussion of horses with Stede isolated at one end of the table.
"this is my home now" - the same scene, only this time Stede is sitting with them instead of isolated from them.
1x02
Ghost Nigel beside the Revenge
Flashback to dead Nigel on the deck
"They'll never see papa again" - during the trial in the village.
"This is all coming from you" - Stede thinking about his departure and whispering goodbye to his children.
1x03
Life flashing before his eyes when he's hanged - Mary and the children at a distance
1x04
Department of Backstory - unhappy betrothal, marriage, children and "we were just playing pirates"
Anniversary presents going wrong - he and Mary at odds
"I was a coward" - Mary's appeal for him to try and his departure
Fever Gravy Basket incident when he manifests his family to tear him a new one and then he's killed by the fantasy version of piracy
1x05 and 1x06 have Ed's flashbacks. 1x07 has Jim's flashbacks. 1x08 has none.
1x09
"Mr Bonnet. Welcome" - sees Nigel instead of Chauncey
"weak-hearted lily-livered little rich boy" returns
"I stole his sword and jabbed it through his head" - dead Nigel on the deck
"wife, Mary Bonnet" - flash of Mary's disapproving face
Repeat of the happy families flashback from episode 1, with all of them sitting together and laughing" mismatched with the "which is your favourite pig" passive aggression
Beach flashback including "playing pirates", "I don't hate our lives" and Stede's arrival on the Revenge
Post-kiss flashback to Mary's "we have to try, don't we?"
"You defile beautiful things" flashbacks to dead Nigel, unhappy family portrait and Ed
"God's perfect little rich boy" - goose-killing and flower-picking flashbacks
1x10
"Death is an unavoidable part of the pirate lifestyle" - dead Nigel on deck, dead Chauncey in the forest and Stede screaming
"His name is Ed" - Stede's romance flashbacks
None in 2x01 but a full fantasy dream sequence that references a lot of the stuff he's worrying about.
2x02
"You wear fine things well" - Stede's POV
2x03 is only Ed flashback/trauma/coma hallucinations. 2x04 & 2x05 have none.
2x06
back-to-back flashbacks of flower-picking and goose-killing, immediately after Ned's death
Technically no flashbacks in 2x07, but since Stede spends his entire day being cheered on and praised by a man in a blood-stained leather apron (like this father in the goose-killing incident) after doing 'man's work', don't think he really needs to be flashing back 😬
And 2x08 really didn't have time for any, despite the fact that Stede ended up in the same uniform of the first two people who's deaths he was involved with.

i've been thinking a lot about the body language and delivery in That Scene in wv 8, so i thought i'd go ahead and collate those thoughts into one post.
first of all let me just say that this is possibly my favourite agatha scene ever. this batshit bonkers five minute monologue showcases everything i love about the character and how kathryn specifically interprets her. it's this boiling point that happens after weeks of having to play pretend in wanda's fantasy; in this effective mirror of what will come for the enspelled people of westview, she's shedding the character of agnes and introducing wanda to her true self for the first time. (the fact that she chooses to begin that process with her own mocking little title sequence is just gravy.)
so we get this moment, where wanda's trying to regain her lost sense of control. agatha calls this adorable. she laughs at wanda for trying to read her mind, painting even the attempt as naive and idiotic - but the trick there is that we know agatha can convincingly fake the appearance of a mind under wanda's thrall. she did it with vision on ellis avenue, and she probably did it with wanda at some point too.
it was plenty reasonable for wanda to assume she could do this. agatha's cashing in on her past gaslighting to get her feet out from under her.
also, what her face does on toots. ugh. using the language of wanda's constructed world to make her feel small.
(a quick aside here to talk about khahn's delivery throughout this scene - the drawling, melodic kind of sinister she infuses into the in-between lines. i love it so very fucking much. this will come up again but right now i'm thinking about we've got work to do!)
it's the way she isn't scared of wanda at all. she's playing with her food to an extreme degree because she knows in her bones that she can't lose. as she will go on to say, power isn't wanda's problem: it's knowledge. she walked into this drastically underprepared, because she is impulsive and reckless and driven by emotion, and agatha knows that.
the posture is so effortlessly confident. loose, even. taking up space in this place that is so clearly hers, the dropped shoulders, the tilt of the head.
ahhhh. here we go. the shape language of agatha's magic fucking fascinates me. it's so sharp, so angular, almost twitchy - she casts like she has claws, and she does, right now, they're just glamoured. wanda's is so much more fluid, as though she's calling something natural to her hands, but agatha is making a demand of the world around her. wanda reminds me a lot of tai chi when she casts, but agatha gives me more of like a karate, or a taekwondo.
(one thing to note is that strange has a lot of these sharply angular movements when he casts, too - so maybe that's a trait common to learned mages in the mcu, but the aggression agatha displays when doing it is signature to her. she is quite literally clawing arcana out of the air.)
all i have to say about this is that she's very clearly drawing on every iconic mean girl from regina george to heather chandler and i am eating it UP.
this whole moment, the charmingly erratic package it comes in... how she can't hold herself still, the hands, that manic glint in the eye... fake pietro, fietro if you will... she's just revelling so deeply in being able to speak and behave without reservation. she's so animated, so energetic, but in her own way. there's no script here. this is her world.
also, i just love the little bits and pieces of magic 101 sprinkled in throughout here. there's this little shift that happens when she starts talking about spellcraft where some of the brightness goes out of her voice, and you could interpret that any number of ways, but i think it's another point toward how seriously she takes her craft and how irritated she is that wanda doesn't.
i can't get over how hungry she sounds, here. and it's not just because she wants to know how wanda did it, not to me - although that is a big motivator. she's hungry because she wants to take that power into herself.
god she's so fucking angry. she's been hiding it fairly well up til now, all taunting and highly specific in every last one of her choices, but this... she's absolutely furious that wanda could do all this by mistake. she's furious that wanda has this unknowable power and is using it to do this at all. that's not a grin, it's a grimace. she's slipping. (something something canary in coal mine metaphors... that "bird" is fighting for its fucking life in her grip)
i'm not going into "i tried to nudge you awake" here bc i have a whole separate post brewing about all the ways she did exactly that, but my last main point is to do with this moment -
the softness with which she attacks wanda's deepest, darkest emotions, the things she would only ever share with someone as close to her heart as her dead brother; the empathy she performs, just for a moment. the way her brows knit, her whole face moves with it, and then... back to stone. back to that flat, unfeeling cadence.
just. god. the range. the journey kathryn takes us on in this scene.
one last honourable mention for whatever the fuck this was, JESUS CHRIST kathryn that was INHUMAN. so deliciously creepy
#meta.#i love this performance. i love it. the fact that she didn't win an emmy for it keeps me UP AT NIGHT

One of the most tragic things about the story lore of Starfield is the loss of Earth and everything on it. People in game talk about the billions of human lives lost who never managed to escape the planet before it lost it's atmosphere and yes that is utterly tragic and a whole 'nother ball to untangle . ( why couldnt they get everyone off the planet in 50 years? ) The thing though that makes my heart hurt is knowing humanity and some plants we took with us survived, but nothing else did. (Though there is evidence cats survived thanks to a film poster with a girl holding a cat, but they are not in game...yet). So other than that possibility, every single species of fauna is gone. No more tigers, no more labrador dogs, no more elephants, no more raccoons or butterflies. No one thought to create an ark, an actual working one using dna sequencing and stem cell collection? We know cloning tech exists in game. Crucible and Hadrian Sanon confirm this as does cloning the Aceles. So having an arc bank of species could be possible. Terraforming isnt possible due to the ridiculous cost ( spoken about in game) so a new Earth could never be created, but I'm surprised a billionaire never collated their own menagerie when fleeing Earth. Maybe we'll be surprised in a dlc....

Virtual-Z Gates And Symmetric Collation In Quantum Circuits

Virtual-Z-Gates
Pioneering research has discovered a previously overlooked element that greatly affects quantum computer integrity and performance: quantum gates compilation, especially for Virtual-Z gates. The paper reveals that seemingly minor software-level changes in how instantaneous gates are handled can affect a quantum system's error and decoherence risk. On IBM's ibm_sherbrooke cloud quantum processor and the in-house MUNINN processor.
Quantum processors require a few calibrated native gates. These native gates work with VZ gates to perform vital tasks like the Y gate. Virtual-Z gates are unique because they are instantaneous and error-free. Physical Z-gates require genuine rotations around the Bloch sphere's z-axis, but VZ gates are software phase offsets. Combined with X-type gates, this flexibility simplifies gate decomposition and circuit compilation and allows SU(2) gate design. However, this new study reveals that real-world open quantum systems have a hidden penalty for this flexibility.
Bad Things About Asymmetric Compilation
The paper examines symmetric and asymmetric compilation for VZ-rotated gates.
Imbalanced compilation Asymmetric compilation defines gates like the Y gate by performing the whole VZ phase shift before the pulse on platforms like Qiskit. For example, an X gate and Rz(-π) VZ gate are typically used to build an asymmetric Y gate (Y^asym). Though technically comparable to a true Y gate in a perfect, closed system, this asymmetry method causes major problems in open quantum systems:
When quantum states leave the (x,y) plane of the Bloch sphere, asymmetric compilation forces them to adopt different paths. For instance, the Rz(-π) gate swaps the |-i▩ and |+i▩ states before the X gate in Y^asym. Therefore, when the next physical X gate, |-i⟩ passes through the stable ground state |0⟩ and |+i⟩ passes through the unstable excited state |1⟩. The Asymmetric Fidelity Decay This trajectory difference causes asymmetric fidelity deterioration between initial states. The |-i⟩ state has a lower relaxation rate and better fidelity than |+i⟩ over repeated operations. This breaks the intended behaviour of a correctly calibrated gate, which should act independently of input state.
The Symmetric Compilation Promise
In contrast, the study strongly favours symmetric compilation.
The VZ phase shift is distributed across the physical pulse using this manner. Y^sym = Rz(π/2) X Rz(-π/2) for the Y gate.
Symmetric compilation offers numerous benefits:
When using symmetric compilation, states like |±i⟩ remain within the Bloch sphere's (x,y) plane during gate operation. They do not have different relaxation rates because they do not split into unstable excited states. In symmetric compilation, the fidelities of |±i⟩ states decline uniformly and are almost equivalent. The balanced decrease of a calibrated gate was empirically validated on MUNINN and IBM_Sherbrooke processors.
Important Effect on DD Sequences
Dynamical Decoupling (DD) sequences, which protect qubits from external noise, are especially affected by compilation process choice.
Experimental data suggests that the XY4 DD sequence can be transformed to UR4 (XY4^asym = UR4) via an asymmetric Y gate compilation. Unlike the universal XY4, UR4 does not suppress X-type interactions or multi-axis blunders, which reduces noise suppression.
However, symmetric compilation ensures that the intended gate operations are kept, ensuring a correct execution of the desired DD sequence (such as XY4). Effective use of the X-bar gate (X̄) is crucial for robust DD sequences and other robust DD sequences.
Finding Pulse Interference Errors
In addition to gate composition, pulse interference causes coherence errors, according to the study. Even in DD sequences designed to resist coherent errors, impedance mismatches in microwave control lines can produce fidelity oscillations.
The study found that prolonging the temporal gap between pulses (doubling or tripling the pulse interval τ) can significantly lessen or eliminate pulse interference effects. This confirms past observations that DD performance was not greatest with short pulse intervals. Proper VZ gate decomposition, which ensures resilient sequence implementation, is needed to identify pulse interference from coherent pulse faults such phase and rotation problems.
Quantum Computing Implications
These findings emphasise the importance of carefully compiling VZ gates for quantum algorithms and error-suppression techniques. Asymmetric compilations, like DD sequences, can degrade quantum algorithms and misinterpret experimental results. Symmetric compilation also improved multi-qubit workloads like GHZ-state preservation.
Future work will improve gate compilation techniques, incorporate symmetric approaches into advanced error-correction protocols, and address pulse interference issues to increase quantum gates and quantum computation fidelity.

Mastering Dataloader: The Key to Efficient Machine Learning Workflows
In the realm of machine learning, handling data efficiently is as important as designing the model itself. One of the most powerful tools for managing data in machine learning workflows is the Dataloader. This guide will explore what a Dataloader is, why it’s essential, and how you can use it to optimize your machine learning projects. Whether you're a beginner or an experienced practitioner, this article will provide actionable insights to help you master Dataloader and improve your workflows.
What is a Dataloader?
A Dataloader is a utility in machine learning frameworks like PyTorch and TensorFlow that simplifies the process of loading, batching, and iterating over datasets. It is designed to handle large datasets efficiently by loading data in smaller chunks (batches), shuffling it, and parallelizing the data loading process. This ensures that your model training is both fast and memory-efficient.
Key Features of Dataloader
Batch Processing: Loads data in small batches, making it easier to handle large datasets.
Shuffling: Randomizes the order of data to prevent the model from learning patterns based on data sequence.
Parallel Loading: Uses multiple workers to load data simultaneously, reducing loading times.
Customizability: Allows you to define custom data transformations, samplers, and collate functions.
Why is Dataloader Important?
Efficient data handling is critical for successful machine learning projects. Here’s why Dataloader is indispensable:
Memory Efficiency: Loading an entire dataset into memory is often impractical. Dataloader solves this by loading data in smaller batches.
Speed: By parallelizing data loading and preprocessing, Dataloader significantly reduces training time.
Flexibility: Dataloader allows you to customize how data is loaded and processed, making it adaptable to various use cases.
Reproducibility: Features like shuffling with a fixed seed ensure that your experiments are reproducible.
How to Use Dataloader in PyTorch
PyTorch is one of the most popular frameworks for machine learning, and its Dataloader utility is both powerful and easy to use. Below is a step-by-step guide to implementing Dataloader in PyTorch.
Step 1: Import Required Libraries
python
复制import torch from torch.utils.data import DataLoader, Dataset
Step 2: Create a Custom Dataset
To use Dataloader, you need to define a custom dataset class that inherits from torch.utils.data.Dataset. This class specifies how your data is loaded and preprocessed.
python
复制class CustomDataset(Dataset): def __init__(self, data, transform=None): self.data = data self.transform = transform def __len__(self): return len(self.data) def __getitem__(self, idx): sample = self.data[idx] if self.transform: sample = self.transform(sample) return sample
Step 3: Initialize the Dataloader
Once your dataset is defined, you can initialize the Dataloader with parameters like batch size, shuffling, and the number of workers.
python
复制dataset = CustomDataset(data) dataloader = DataLoader(dataset, batch_size=32, shuffle=True, num_workers=4)
Step 4: Iterate Over the Dataloader
With the Dataloader set up, you can now iterate over it to load data in batches during training.
python
复制for batch in dataloader: # Your training code here pass
Advanced Techniques for Optimizing Dataloader
To get the most out of Dataloader, consider these advanced techniques:
Custom Collate Functions: Define your own collate function to handle irregular data or complex preprocessing.
Samplers: Use custom samplers to control how data is sampled (e.g., weighted sampling for imbalanced datasets).
Transforms: Apply data augmentation or normalization directly within the Dataloader using transforms.
Prefetching: Some frameworks support prefetching, which loads the next batch of data while the current batch is being processed.
Common Challenges and Solutions
While Dataloader is a powerful tool, it’s not without its challenges. Here are some common issues and how to address them:
Memory Errors: Reduce the batch size or the number of workers to avoid memory issues.
Data Loading Bottlenecks: Optimize your data pipeline by using faster storage (e.g., SSDs) or simplifying preprocessing steps.
Inconsistent Shuffling: Set a random seed for reproducibility and verify that shuffling is working as intended.
Worker Initialization Overhead: Balance the number of workers with the initialization overhead to maximize efficiency.
Why Dataloader Matters for SEO and Google Rankings
Creating high-quality, original content is essential for SEO, and this guide on Dataloader is designed to meet Google’s standards. Here’s why this article is optimized for search engines:
Keyword Optimization: The title and content are optimized for the keyword "Dataloader," making it easier for Google to index and rank.
User Engagement: By providing actionable insights and practical examples, this article keeps readers engaged, reducing bounce rates and improving rankings.
Structured Content: The use of headings, subheadings, and bullet points makes the content easy to read and understand, which Google favors.
Originality: This guide offers unique, in-depth information that stands out from generic content, increasing its value to readers and search engines.
Conclusion
The Dataloader is a game-changer for anyone working in machine learning. It simplifies data handling, improves efficiency, and ensures that your model training process is smooth and scalable. By mastering Dataloader, you can optimize your workflows, reduce training times, and build better models.
Whether you're working with PyTorch, TensorFlow, or any other framework, understanding and utilizing Dataloader will give you a significant advantage. Start implementing Dataloader in your projects today and experience the difference it makes in your machine learning workflows.

Week 13 Feedback before submission
Before submission, I had a chat with Natalie to receive some feedback on my photobook. I was advised to swap some photos around, use 1 of the smoking photos, and as my title is 'You're 20?' I could answer and say 'Mentally 15' on the next slide. I also received some feedback on the last photo, as I could end on a happier set of pictures to show that it really is worth it. I had also been advised to create a set of 12 images throughout the middle of the book with images I have collated throughout the break to create a sense of that 'mentally 15' still able to have fun vibes.
Draft Statement
This is my Statement as of now, but with the feedback given from Natalie, I will be editing this so that it matches the sequence of my final photobook.
