Louisiana deputy makes fowl discovery in missing childs backpack

A Louisiana child was found safe after being reported missing last week — along with something “fowl” in the boy’s backpack. “Storytime!” wrote the St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office in a Friday, May 31 post on its Facebook page. “Hey folks, gather around for a wild little tale from Friday morning,” said the sheriff’s office in the post.  That morning, “a youngster decided to embark on an adventure, leaving home in search of a new life,” the office said. “Let’s be honest, we’ve all been there at some point in our youth.” A deputy quickly found the child, whose name, age and location were not identified by the sheriff’s office, according to the post. “But there was an unexpected twist,” it said. “Along for the ride, tucked away in the kid’s backpack, was none other than a rooster!” “Yep, you read that right. "My father Juan José María González de Chaves Dreyer, better known as Hansi by his friends, along with my mother Carolina, are going through the worst moments of their lives due to an unexpected and critical health situation that developed on the other side of the world from their home in Tenerife, Canary Islands.

I am their daughter María Victoria, currently residing in the city of Monterrey, Mexico, where after a year of not seeing them, my parents decided to come and visit me. They had their trip planned from March 14th to April 25th.

On March 31st, while already in Monterrey, my father began to feel unwell, with a lot of fatigue, cough, and difficulty breathing. Thinking this could be a flu or cold, we went to a medical consultation at a hospital where several medications were prescribed. After several days, on April 10th, my father's condition worsened, and he returned to a medical consultation, this time at an external clinic, where he lost all feeling in his right leg for several minutes.

We quickly went to the emergency room of a private hospital, where numerous tests were conducted, and he had to be admitted. They found several clots in his right leg at the groin level, and it was determined that his lungs were collapsed. After two days of being admitted, his symptoms worsened, and he had to be transferred to the ICU. My father's right leg began to lose circulation rapidly, and his foot started to turn black, with a risk of requiring amputation from the hip. His lungs worsened, and after several studies, it was diagnosed that he had diffuse alveolar hemorrhage (blood in the lungs).

He underwent a surgical thrombectomy in his leg to remove the clots; however, it is a temporary procedure that had to be performed due to his critical health condition. My father will require a new operation on his leg called angioplasty and stent placement, which is very expensive and exceeds €15,000, but this is necessary to save his leg.

However, the most serious issue with my father's health is his lungs. He was given numerous medications, in addition to the use of non-invasive oxygen masks, to improve his lung condition. After several days, there was a slight improvement, but after 15 days in the ICU, his lungs stopped improving and remain in critical condition.

Due to the number of days in the ICU, the stress on the body from so much medication, and the critical health condition, the doctors decided on April 25th to intubate and sedate my father so that his recovery would not be affected by his mental health, which, as you can understand after so many days, began to overwhelm and distress him, worsening the situation.

After 20 days in the private hospital, we had to pay a bill totaling €90,000 (1,620,000 Mexican pesos), having to borrow money and incur debt due to the serious situation. My parents had taken out travel insurance; however, the insurance company refuses to cover the policy, arguing that my father's illness was already present in Spain (nobody goes on a trip while sick). Since we no longer have any more financial resources, we had to transfer my father to a public hospital, where the care is not the same, and everything is much slower. We still have to pay for medications and the treatments that are still needed for my father to recover.

I know we all have problems to deal with in our daily lives, but what we are experiencing is something we never thought could happen, and we ask for solidarity and empathy from you.
