I feel so dumb for just now realizing this but I don’t know much about how military ranks work irl and I was watching this show called Lioness, and in it there’s a pilot (spoiler alert for the new season of lioness episode 2 specifically) but this pilot has all these achievements and medals and has done all these things. Yet the government is sitting here like “bro why is she just captain? She should be a much higher rank by now!” And someone made a comment saying “anything higher puts you behind a desk” basically and I was like HOLD TF UP YO!!

THATS why Maverick is still a captain, it’s not that he COULDNT get promoted! It’s that he REFUSED so he could keep flying!! (I honestly feel like he could have done anything he wanted with Ice being COMPACFLT but that’s just me lmao) BUT NAH! Our sweet little trouble maker was offered promotions but chose to remain captain so he could fly. IM GONNA CRY!

This theory also works for Ice, he started climbing the ranks more and stopped flying to take over his COMPACFLT role and Admiral role once he got cancer the first time. Knowing that was going to clip his wings anyways, so he decided to climb up the ranks instead.

BUT YEAH THATS TONIGHTS BRAINROT SORRY IF IT WAS OBVIOUS TO EVERYONE ELSE IM JUST SLOW AT THIS I GUESS, I was lowkey too busy staring at the planes out the window.

How do you say COMPACFLT?

As a non-American who hasn't seen TGM, I struggle a lot with this particular abbreviation.

Like, do you say "C-O-M-P-A-C-F-L-T"

Or "Compacfleet"

Or "Compac-F-L-T"

Or how do you do that?

I am highly confused and I every time I read a fanfiction with that title in it, my mind goes bingle bongle dingle dangle yickedy doo yickedy daa ping pong lippy tappy too taa mode and that sucks.

Has anyone thought about icemav but switching their heights??? Like can you imagine how short ice snapping his teeth in the locker room wouldn’t have the intended intimidation affect like he wanted it to? No, cause Mav is gonna be looking down at Ice thinking he looks like an angry kitten. And when they meet at the O-club? Yeah, ice coming out with who’s the better pilot shtick is gonna seem like a kid trying to start something with their older sibling cause they think their older sibling is dumb and not as knowledgeable as them.

The first kiss they share is in a corner of the Layton after hours and hours of celebrating. The kiss lasts no more than a few seconds because there's someone calling Mav's name, and the man is already looking that way, maybe to answer their shipmate. But Ice wants the kiss to go on for just a little longer, so he closes his hands around Mav's faces (and Mav can't help but think he has really soft hands for someone in their line of work) and they stay there, looking at each other for a few moments before they are kissing again.

(It becomes their thing, Ice's hands caressing Mav's cheeks or just touching them while the kiss. Mav's attention is all on Ice, and Ice can kiss him for as long as he wants. It gets to be their thing so much that it happens even when Ice is sleepy and hadn't his morning share of cuddles. It particularly happens a morning where Ice comes down for breakfast, Mav is talking with somebody Ice has no care for in that moment, and he just hugs Mav against his chest and shsh whomever the fuck is talking at six in the fucking morning on Sunday and he kisses Mav, just a pec because one of his hands find his way in Mav's hair and the other one on his cheek and then they are kissing, slowly and softly, Mav's back against the kitchen counter and no hurry in Ice's mind. When they are done, two or ten minutes later, Ice leaves one last kiss on his husband's lips before mumbling something about getting back to bed and that Mav should come with him. Around them is just silence but, once again, Ice doesn't a fuck because it's too early and he wants to sleep and be cuddle, damn.)

Okay, this is my JavyNat headcanon:

Nat and Javy want to have kids after they get married but Nat doesn't want the pregnancy to interfere with her career so they decide to become foster parents.

Nat grew up in the system because she had an abusive father and then shitty foster parents. That's why she and Javy want to take in foster children so that they can live a happy childhood.

Javy leaves the Navy so that he doesn't interfere with Nat's career when she moves up the ranks (fraternization etc.) and so that he can take care of the kids because that's what he's always dreamed of.
