DUALITY

DUALITY, el último álbum del pionero de la música clásica alternativa Dardust, saldrá a la venta a nivel internacional a través de Sony Music Masterworks y Artist First el 28 de octubre de 2022.

DUALITY, un álbum doble con un total de 20 temas, estará disponible tanto en formato digital como en CD y vinilo. Llega tras el lanzamiento de tres EP que sirven de muestra: #001 Coordinate, #002 Hymns y #003 Horizons (con Horizon In Your Eyes, preestrenado en el Festival de Eurovisión 2022).

Mientras que en álbumes anteriores Dardust ha añadido paisajes sonoros electrónicos a sus composiciones minimalistas de piano, creando un género a caballo entre el neoclásico y el pop, aquí ha optado por dividir sus dos ámbitos en dos experiencias paralelas pero convergentes.

"Me fascina la psicología humana y mi pasión por este campo de estudio me ha ayudado a comprender el dualismo que siempre ha formado parte de mi forma de expresarme musicalmente", explica el artista. "En mis álbumes anteriores, el mundo emocional del piano y el mundo más cognitivo de la música electrónica se fusionaron para crear nuevas perspectivas sonoras y un cruce entre el neoclásico y el pop, con elementos mágicos extraídos de las bandas sonoras de las películas, un cierto tipo de escena de club, las películas de fantasía y el romanticismo. Para mi último proyecto decidí centrarme en los dos aspectos diferentes como si estuvieran influenciados por los distintos hemisferios de mi cerebro. Blanco y negro, música electrónica y piano. Los dos extremos de mi imaginación musical y artística como Dardust".

Por tanto, los dos discos que componen "DUALIDAD" representan los dos hemisferios del cerebro humano. Los temas de piano solista de RIGHT HEMISPHERE expresan la emoción pura y la inocencia del virtuosismo pianístico contemporáneo a través de una música inspirada en el mundo natural y un sentido de la improvisación más emocionalmente espontáneo, como el de un poeta. Sus puntos de referencia provienen de la cultura del Lejano Oriente: El teatro kabuki y el budismo zen. Los conceptos que recorren estos temas están vinculados a una filosofía japonesa ejemplificada por la sakura, la flor del cerezo, que representa la fragilidad, la belleza, la mortalidad y la renovación. En conjunto, estos 10 temas retratan la naturaleza cíclica de la vida a través de las estaciones y la forma en que todo conduce no a un epílogo, sino a un prólogo, una sensación continua de renacimiento.

Por el contrario, las pistas electrónicas de LEFT HEMISPHERE simbolizan la parte racional de nuestro cerebro, el "ingeniero" que hay en el artista. Se han moldeado con una nueva geometría sonora vinculada a patrones, ritmos, sintetizadores y mundos musicales pertenecientes a diferentes estilos, mezclados entre sí para producir un nuevo tipo de narrativa artística. Cada una de ellas tiene un tema y un riff que le da una identidad propia, dentro de la cual podemos escuchar referencias al sonido de los 90, a las bandas sonoras de las películas de John Carpenter, al grupo de prog rock Goblin, al Italo-Disco, al UK garage y al Nu jazz. En este mundo de contaminaciones estilísticas, el enfoque analógico se combina con lo digital y lo orgánico, gracias a los intros y outros creados en colaboración con el colectivo Studio Murena.

     *  Note: Since LOGAN takes place in a dystopian world set in  the 20th Century Fox world of their ‘XMEN’ in 2029 -- I’ve had to tweak Laura’s canon timeline to fit in with the MCU. These are my compiled ideas/notes for where Laura would/might fit in, according to the MCU timeline. This can also be amended/altered depending upon who I am writing with & whatever stories we come up with on the sides. I will update/list those verses within this list as well. XO. - Betty. 

2012.  AVENGERS.   ✗ verse: ( mcu 001. avengers. )  i am not my enemy.  

     2002, Alkali-Transigen  aka ‘Essex Corp’ ) conducts it’s second round of the Weapon-X program utilizing children ‘perfected’ in a lab/facility. Laura Howlett ( known as X23 amid the program ) was ‘born’ into the program, the daughter of an unknown Latina woman ( who is more than likely murdered by the company shortly after Laura’s birth ) & James Howlett aka The Wolverine.       2012, a 7 year-old ‘killing dream’ begins her hardcore training under the Transigen umbrella, having grown up within their cage and knowing nothing but life within ‘The Facility’. During the events of ‘The Avengers’, Transigen ( more than likely a subsidiary or sister-company to HYDRA ) attempts to gather knowledge/the power of the alien forces that attack Earth. It is quite possible during this attack, the Xmen join the Avengers. - Transigen utilizes newer technology to harness a killing serum that triggers and strengthens the children’s mutant abilities. Through the years they continue to medicate and test the formula out on the children, including Laura;  to which they discover if they choose a specific target, she will stop at nothing until said target is vanquished. 

2015.  AGE OF ULTRON.  ✗ verse: ( mcu 002. ultron. )  i can do anything.  

     2013,  8-year-old Laura, along with her ‘brothers and sisters’ attempt to escape from the underground jail in Mexico ( where she was ‘born’ ) when given word/hope of a safe haven full of mutant-kind. The children are provided stories with the help of comic books smuggled into the facility. Some of which include stories of The Avengers, while others house a storyline shadowing the truth about the XMEN. Upon their first attempt of escape, the children are unsuccessful, and Essex Corp demands that they relocate to a ‘more secure’ unit in New York City. In 2015, the attack of ULTRON commences, more or less rocking the hard walls of the New York facility to rubble.        For the most part, with the help of HYDRA, Transigen is able to gather up their little ‘test subjects’, some having successfully gotten away, sadly Laura not being among them.      2016, an 11-year-old Laura with the help of the nurses, including Gabby, leads the pack to escape once more. It’s here Laura encounters her father ( Wolverine/James LOGAN Howlett ), Xavier & Caliban by psionic-ally following Charles’ guidance. During this timeline she goes on the wild chase, running from Transigen and relying on what remains of Logan’s strength. The climax ends with Xavier’s passing and Logan’s sacrifice, and the children successfully fleeing for the Canadian border to ‘Eden’ aka the safe haven which turns out to be a new school for the gifted, headlined by a group of vigilante mutants ( aka, the plotline of Mangold’s LOGAN. )      It should also be noted that during this time period, the X-men are dwindling/dying out, and going into hiding due to many people either wanting to lock them up out of fear or provide them ID badges and what not ( similar to the plot of the ‘Civil War’ in the comics. ) 

2017.  CIVIL WAR.   ✗ verse: ( mcu 003. civil war. )  my choice mine.   

     At 12, Laura quietly slips from the safe haven ( headmistress at this time being Emma Frost ) , feeling as though she’s really more of a danger than anything else, specifically due to the ‘death’ serum. Laura cannot control herself when injected with it, especially if she’s provided a ‘target’. To think she could end up killing one of her own terrifies her, not to mention the more she keeps running the less likely Transigen is to discover her.       During the time of the Avengers’ ‘Civil War’  ( between Tony & Steve ), Laura is only a child but spotted through the streets of New York. A time or two, Tony witnesses the feral child having pick-pocketing or slyly stealing a thing or two of necessity. Unable to confine the child or discover her whereabouts, he becomes aware of the ‘mutant strain’ in DNA, now knowing there is far more to this life than other worlds, planets, Norse gods and experimental projects gone wrong like Banner -- Hydra’s been hiding the secret unit to which not only have they began to suppress the X-gene that creates the ‘mutants’ but that they’ve been testing the effects of their serums and juices and what have you on children more-or-less created in a lab with the specific function of utilizing them as some ultimate mutant army. It is a terrible and harsh reality and one he does not take to lightly.      Contrary to the comics’ canon ( & the Xmen’s Civil War ) when Tony discovers she is a mutant child born and raised the way she was, he almost feels an obligation to protect her from others who felt mutants ought to be branded or ID’d and what not. ( A bit contradictory to the Xmen comics, I know, but it makes sense when you think of Steve/Capt America in the comics and how against Laura he was in the beginning, I feel he’d be a little apprehensive in the MCU as well. This could change depending upon whom I’m writing with. )       On the search for a place to help her ‘lay low’, Tony keeps her at the compound, until Pepper insists she just come on home with her. ( Again, this can be adapted depending upon the individual story. ) 

2018.  HOMECOMING.   ✗ verse: ( mcu 004. homecoming. )  are you sure i deserve salvation?  

     At age 13, since Pepper thinks it best that the pre-teenage girl get used to a ‘normal’ life, Laura begins attending public school, where she continues to attempt to ‘lay low’. Of course she does her very best to fit in, though there are many ‘human’ things she’s unaware of such as personal space and certain topics of speech. She basically follows the lead of people she feels she can trust like Peter Parker. Technically since Laura also ages much slower than most everyone, she will be a teenager for a longer period in her life. It is within these confines that she learns more about humanity, her compassion for the human race quite evident and her curiosity ever the more present. She spends a lot of time making up for lost time in her childhood, things she’s never discovered, places she’s never been -- a life she never knew she could have.  2019/2023.  ENDGAME.   ✗ verse: ( mcu 005. endgame. )  i’m f*cking wolverine. 

     During INFINITY WAR ( obviously just prior to this timeline ) Laura of course fights along side the team sustaining little to no injury even though she could’ve severed a limb or two, due to her mutation, she recovers rather quickly. Upon the realization that she could lose her family of mutants with Thanos’ plan, she scurries to get back to the school, begging many of the others to fight along side the Avengers. She succeeds in convincing several of the XMEN, including but not limited to Emma Frost,  to take part in the battle... but it is only to their demise as her healing is too rapid for his ‘curse’ and rather than fluttering into ash, she witnesses all those she holds dear dissipate having to see, once again, the utter destruction of those she holds dear. It tears her apart from the inside.       In 2023, Laura is just about to turn 17. -- Upon Tony’s return from space (2019), and the realization that Pepper hadn’t been taken away, Laura barricades herself within the hope she can have a somewhat normal family. She stays with Pepper and Tony, far away from the compound. She takes up her roll as a sister-figure to Morgan, something she absolutely takes seriously. She’d give it all up for this little girl -- hell, for this family. Tony stands in as an unlikely father-figure, but even moreso, Pepper as her mother. ( Again, these choices can be adapted/tweaked depending upon the storyline/plot we have -- maybe Laura grew up at the compound, or with someone else or with Aunt May... the possibilities/ what-ifs are endless... She could’ve also gone off on her feral way, etc etc. ) 

     When the final battle hits, and those who were taken away appear within the portals, a sudden relief washes over her. She has much more to fight for, and she gives it her all. But it is at the loss of Tony where she feels her world crumble once more, wondering if she should go off on her own and call it good, because it seems no matter where she attempts to land, there is far more loss to be had. She contemplates whether or not Logan had it correct when he was always insistent they stay far away from people, isolate and keep to themselves. Of course that was a much different time in the world and Transigen/Hydra has/have more things to worry about than hunting her down lately -- still, it’s a threat.        With Peter Parker’s ( and possibly others ) insistence, she remains close by. 2023/24.  FAR FROM HOME.  ✗ verse: ( mcu 006. far from home. )  el que con lobos anda a aullar se enseña. 

     Basically, Laura ( now, tech, post-snap almost 18 ) is hanging out with SHIELD, there to aid Peter where needed, more or less helping to keep an eye on him, along with Happy doing her best to stay out of trouble.

Relationship With Family: They had a close connection, especially growing up. They were pushing her hard to be the greatest she could be but she loved every second of it. Now of course there is no relationship after their early  demise. She misses them terribly but very rarely speaks of them.

Happiest Memory: The day she achieved her first ever award for making Lucas proud.

Childhood Trauma: Early childhood Octavia was struggling with her learning,  although extremely clever it was almost impossible for her to concentrate which really destroyed her confidence. This later came to be a condition called Low Latent Inhibition which affects the way in which the brain perceives    things around the person. It took a lot for her to get used to and overcome this obstacle in her life. And of course the death of her parents was something that completely rocked her world. With such a close family and not many friends this seemed to shatter her and the world around her.

Style of Dress/Typical Outfit(s): Octavia can be seen with two different kinds of wear, one of  her typical day wear tends to be battered black or grey jeans paired with a band-t-shirt or racer tank, black doc martins and her black leather jacket. While her nightwear is a contrast where she tends to wear lavish gowns and expensive designer dresses. This comes from when she used to work as a high class con artist alongside Lucas.

Typical Style of Shoes: Day time you will always find her adorning her doc Martins, she has an array of different colours but her evening she always sports a pair of Louboutin black heels that she received as a present while spending some time in Paris. She has a large array of heels that she likes to wear.

Jewellery? Tattoos? Piercings?: Although not exactly a believer in god she very often wears a cross around her neck that belonged to her mother, she has a nose piercing and wears a lot of rings on her right hand.

Scars: She has a large scar that runs down the side of her rib cage, and one above her lip.

Unique Mannerisms/Physical Habits: She has a lot of British slang and mannerisms from living  most of her childhood in England and still holds her accent very thickly.

Athleticism: Octavia is a big fan of running and she is often seen going for a 6AM run to clear her mind, she loves listening to music and working out as much as she can. She attends the gym at least three times a week and loves boxing for sport.

Health Problems/Illnesses: Octavia has a condition called Low Latent Inhibition which affects her ability to concentrate solely on one thing and affects the way in which the brain perceives and maintains information. Because of her high IQ she manages it very well but it is a challenge at times.

"DUALITY", el último álbum del pionero de la música clásica alternativa Dardust, saldrá a la venta a nivel internacional a través de Sony Music Masterworks y Artist First el 28 de octubre de 2022.

"DUALITY", un álbum doble con un total de 20 temas, estará disponible tanto en formato digital como en CD y vinilo. Llega tras el lanzamiento de tres EP que sirven de muestra: #001 Coordinate, #002 Hymns y #003 Horizons (con Horizon In Your Eyes, preestrenado en el Festival de Eurovisión 2022).

Mientras que en álbumes anteriores Dardust ha añadido paisajes sonoros electrónicos a sus composiciones minimalistas de piano, creando un género a caballo entre el neoclásico y el pop, aquí ha optado por dividir sus dos ámbitos en dos experiencias paralelas pero convergentes.

"Me fascina la psicología humana y mi pasión por este campo de estudio me ha ayudado a comprender el dualismo que siempre ha formado parte de mi forma de expresarme musicalmente", explica el artista. "En mis álbumes anteriores, el mundo emocional del piano y el mundo más cognitivo de la música electrónica se fusionaron para crear nuevas perspectivas sonoras y un cruce entre el neoclásico y el pop, con elementos mágicos extraídos de las bandas sonoras de las películas, un cierto tipo de escena de club, las películas de fantasía y el romanticismo. Para mi último proyecto decidí centrarme en los dos aspectos diferentes como si estuvieran influenciados por los distintos hemisferios de mi cerebro. Blanco y negro, música electrónica y piano. Los dos extremos de mi imaginación musical y artística como Dardust".

Por tanto, los dos discos que componen "DUALIDAD" representan los dos hemisferios del cerebro humano. Los temas de piano solista de RIGHT HEMISPHERE expresan la emoción pura y la inocencia del virtuosismo pianístico contemporáneo a través de una música inspirada en el mundo natural y un sentido de la improvisación más emocionalmente espontáneo, como el de un poeta. Sus puntos de referencia provienen de la cultura del Lejano Oriente: El teatro kabuki y el budismo zen. Los conceptos que recorren estos temas están vinculados a una filosofía japonesa ejemplificada por la sakura, la flor del cerezo, que representa la fragilidad, la belleza, la mortalidad y la renovación. En conjunto, estos 10 temas retratan la naturaleza cíclica de la vida a través de las estaciones y la forma en que todo conduce no a un epílogo, sino a un prólogo, una sensación continua de renacimiento.

Por el contrario, las pistas electrónicas de LEFT HEMISPHERE simbolizan la parte racional de nuestro cerebro, el "ingeniero" que hay en el artista. Se han moldeado con una nueva geometría sonora vinculada a patrones, ritmos, sintetizadores y mundos musicales pertenecientes a diferentes estilos, mezclados entre sí para producir un nuevo tipo de narrativa artística. Cada una de ellas tiene un tema y un riff que le da una identidad propia, dentro de la cual podemos escuchar referencias al sonido de los 90, a las bandas sonoras de las películas de John Carpenter, al grupo de prog rock Goblin, al Italo-Disco, al UK garage y al Nu jazz. En este mundo de contaminaciones estilísticas, el enfoque analógico se combina con lo digital y lo orgánico, gracias a los intros y outros creados en colaboración con el colectivo Studio Murena.

A one shot in which Harry is infatuated with his therapist and she ends up drinking a little too much while with him.

Warnings? suggests sexual behavior/thoughts

A soft knock on the door startled Clara into awareness, her head lifting from the makeshift pillow her balled up cardigan created. She quickly reached out to grab the half-empty bottle of vodka and set it on the floor by her feet in an attempt to hide it. Cautiously rubbing the sleep out of her eyes, she sat up straighter in her swivel chair to look a little more alert. 

“Come in.” her voice was weary and skeptical. She had no idea who would be here this late at night. Maybe one of the janitors, she thought to herself, but then again, none of them are polite enough to knock before entering. 

Then she saw him, and a smile graced her lips. It was none other than one of her clients named Harry. He was undoubtedly her favorite; always so kind and respectful, much different than most of her other clients. He was wearing a loose-fitting dark grey jumper and his typical black skinny jeans. A beanie covered his hair for the most part, some curls managing to escape and frame his face. And of course, that airplane necklace of his hung around his neck, the actual charm piece being hidden underneath his jumper, but she could still tell what it was.

“Harry.” she greets him warmly, wanting to stand up. But she doesn’t as she knows how her legs feel jelly-like and how she’ll end up toppling over if she does. 

“What’s up?” 

Not really proper etiquette to use as a therapist she realizes, even in her half-drunken state, but she doesn't care. He looks down at the floor, clearing his throat before speaking. “Oh, um, I was just walking by when I noticed your office light was on, so I decided I would come in to say hello.” he explains himself, a shy smile on his lips.

Her smile widens and she points to the chair in front of her desk, silently asking him to sit. He does as she asks, moving to sit in the comfy chair of her familiar, cozy office.

“I’m honestly so glad that you did come in. Wasn’t expecting such a surprise this late at night.” 

Harry could almost instantly pick up on her slurred speech, eyebrows furrowing and head tilting to the side as he looks at her. Never has he ever even associated her and alcohol- it was just an odd mix, but not anymore.

“Uh, yeah. Have you been drinking?” he asks, a tiny laugh falling from his mouth.

She casts a glance sideways and then laughs herself, her head falling into her hands afterward in slight embarrassment. “Is it that easy to tell?” 

Harry notices how white her teeth are when she smiles up at him- notices how beautiful she looks in the dim light of her office now that the sun isn’t shining in through the window anymore.

He nods and chuckles lightly, ripping his eyes away from her face.

He hears her move across from him, and then she mumbles, “Frick the vodka.” Instantly he looks up to see her turn in her swivel chair, reaching into her big work bag to pull out a bottle of jack daniels. She looks back at him, their eyes connecting as she raises the bottle a little higher than her face. “Do you want some?”

Harry stares at her incredulously. “My therapist is asking me to drink with her?” his tone is playful, although he is actually pretty confused.

She nods her head. “Uh-huh. Yes, she very much is. As long as you don’t tell a soul on me.” 

How can he say no to this? It’s a once in a lifetime opportunity that he can’t just say no to. So he just says a simple but firm, “Okay.”

It feels weird at first. Watching her get out two flimsy paper cups from her coffee area, then preparing the both of them a drink. He isn’t even of the legal age to drink yet, but it didn’t matter to him any other time, so why let it matter now, he thought.

He observed her movements, a chill running down his spine as she poured both of their cups full of the jack daniel- to the top. Given they weren’t very large cups, he still felt a tad bit sick just looking at the drink. He was never that much of a drinker. At least that’s what he liked to think about himself.

“Wah-la!” she exclaims, clapping her hands together before reaching out one of the cups towards Harry. “There you go, sir.” she says under her breath as he takes the cup from her.

“Thank you.” he murmurs with a small smile. 

“Okay,” she settles back in her chair, looking at him with a devilish look. “I have a proposition... a game really.” He quirks his eyebrow as if saying to go on. “Whoever is the first one to drink all of what’s in their cup wins.”

“Wins what?”

“Just the game, silly.”

He breathes out, weighing out the pros and cons of this situation. If he decides to take his beautiful therapist up on this drinking game, it’ll go down in his best memories book for sure, seeing how he would’ve never thought this would happen. If he declines this offer, it’ll probably save him the massive migraine that’s bound to come onto him soon after he chugs down the alcohol.

The first option seems best to him. 

He playfully lifts his cup into the air, being careful not to let some slosh off the top and spill out. “Let the best alcoholic win.” he jokes, making her laugh loudly. 

They both bring their cup to their lips, and she begins to count down from five.  When she gets to one, their lips are on the brim of their cup in record speed, gulping down the first bit of alcohol. The strong taste of the jack daniels shouldn’t phase Harry as much as it does since he’s around alcohol almost of all the time, but it most certainly does, and way more than it does Clara. Both hiss as the beverage leaves a bitter taste on their tongue and a sting that streams down their throat, but they keep going nonetheless.

It’s when Harry hears a cup hit against wood that his eyes pop open. He looks on in pure amazement at her as he sees her empty cup sitting on the desk in between the two. He stutters out an amused laugh and she holds the back of her hand to her smiling mouth, looking semi-embarrassed that she just chugged down a cup full of jack daniels.

“Wow,” Harry breathes out, reaching to put his drink on the edge of the desk. “that was... wow. You’re very fast at that.” 

She laughs, eyes glazed over as she stares at him. “Well, if I’m the best alcoholic, then who are you?” she asks mockingly, playfully sticking out her hand for him to shake.

In the midst of doing so, she knocks over Harry’s half full cup of alcohol, which ends up spilling all down his front and thighs. Both of them gasp in surprise. Clara is on her wobbly feet in seconds despite how woozy she is, and Harry almost immediately erupts out in laughter. He plucks the cup off of his soaked lap and again sets it on the desk while Clara is hurrying over to the other side of the room.

“Oh my God, Harry. You have no idea how sorry I am.” she apologizes profusely. Harry just blames the alcohol for her being so overdramatic. She plucks a bunch of tissues from the kleenex box. “Are you okay?”

“It’s okay.” he chuckles, turning to look at her worried expression. “It’s quite funny, actually.”

Suddenly, multiple pieces of tissue are spread across his lap as she works on blotting the spot on his jumper first. “I should’ve been more careful.”

“S’okay. I’m not dying or anything.” he whispers in an attempt to calm her down. 

Her movements are slow and purposeful. She’s so close to him now,  he can’t help but think she’s changed the chemistry of the air he’s breathing. It’s better, smoother. Her perfume lingers in their shared space, which is heavenly to his senses.

Not to mention how she’s bent over him. Her chest practically on display which makes him swallow nervously, trying to force himself to look away. “Look, I am totally down for paying for these to get cleaned professionally somewhere, okay?” 

She peers up at him through her eyelashes as her movement ceases. 

“You don’t have to. I’m pretty sure it won't stain.” he whispers, the wind being knocked out him due to how close their proximity is.

The two of them just stare at each other for a what seems like several minutes, but is really only a couple of seconds. He notices how her eyes flutter down to look at his lips, before they come back up to his eyes. 

Her eyes are pleading and filled with lust as she asks, “Can I kiss you, Harry?”

Cons Space 003 Paris

Après Barcelone et Berlin, le CONS SPACE investi pendant une semaine les anciennes Chaudronneries de Montreuil. En partenariat avec le magazine Be Street, Converse organise une soirée exceptionnelle en mélangeant art, musique et skateboard. Pendant que les tails claquent dans la poussière, que les lives enragés de Chill Bump, RoxXxan etFlatbush ZOMBIES s’enchaînent et que les membres du Black Bones Clubs’adonnent à une bataille créative sans merci, les murs des anciennes Chaudronneries retrouvent enfin une seconde vie. Une ambiance électrique dans un cadre exceptionnel, où les fumistes, invités pour l’événement, ont pu montrer leur savoir-faire pour le plus grand bonheur des fans de la planche à roulette.
