📽️ Tommy Boy (1995)

This is my favorite Chris Farley movie. It’s classic Chris Farley. The bumbling idiot with a heart of gold ends up figuring everything out and saving the day. It’s basically the same plot as Beverly Hills Ninja and Black Sheep, just with different scenarios and characters. Of all those mentioned though, I think Tommy Boy is the best one. It’s genuinely funny, pretty much from start to finish; but the actual story is good, too. My family and I quote this movie all the time because there are so many great one-liners. It’s definitely worth the watch.

Sex/nudity: 3/10 (some innuendos, woman in bikini, woman skinny dipping at night with a brief flash of frontal nudity)

Language: 2/10 (no f-words, milder strong language throughout)

Violence: 1/10 (punching, hitting, beating up played for laughs)

Overall rating: 8/10

Hallmark’s The Christmas Charade is easily my favorite holiday film of the year (so far), and while it might be too soon to tell, I have a feeling this one will be on a yearly rotation. Starring Rachel Skarsten and Corey Sevier, this movie is especially perfect for everyone who loved The Royal Nanny—action-packed, hilarious, full of longing, and overflowing with excellent chemistry. 

When it comes to tackling spies or agents of any kind, it’s imperative that we arrest some of our expectations to truly allow the tropes to play out. (These aren’t Bond films, and they aren’t trying to be.) The awkward and accidental meet cute thrusts Whitney (Skarsten) into a critical mission with Josh where they must feign dating in order to catch a jewel thief in action. Naturally, with all this, viewers get plenty of delightful moments that go from a fabrication to something real and surprisingly comforting.

Age of the Dragons (2011)

My rating: 4/10

Turns out, "Moby Dick with dragons" sounds a lot cooler than it actually is - Glover is fine, but I'm a bit annoyed that they felt the need to add a fridged... sister, probably? to his backstory, and the daughter character is mostly there to Be Sexy (TM). Also they turned Queequeg into off-brand Winnetou.
