My copy of the @stay-gold-zine arrived today! It’s really nice, and well done- had a great time flipping through it!

Anyhow, now that it’s out, I’m like 97% sure I can show y’all my work for it :))

it’s a little underrated scene from the movie that I always liked- it fleshed out their world/dynamics just a little more, yk? Nothing groundbreaking, but a small moment that stuck with me for no real reason. Felt like the sorta interaction I’d have with my buddies, that sorta deal, I guess.

+ the top pic on its own b/c i was pretty pleased w/ it at the time (I still am, just less thrilled since the novelty’s long worn off lol)

Pony - Walls could talk (abt the gang and what happened the night Darry slapped him/their fights)

Johnny - Panic room (sitting alone in the lot at night after a bad beating/stuck inside his “room” while listening to his parents fighting when he was little)

Soda - Tears of gold (he’s always sought after by people solely for looks, hc that he’s been in SO many toxic/manipulative relationships with ppl who just wanted him for his body)

Dally - Devils don’t fly (stuck being a greaser with no way out) or control (his thoughts right before he dies in the book)

Darry - Older (viewing his life differently after his parents died, looking back on all the things he thought were true as a kid) or stressed out

Curtis Brothers - Hey brother

Steve - Copycat (being salty towards Pony)

Cherry and Bob - Attention (Ty @frxstbyt for this idea)

Two-bit - Circus (idrk, the vibe of the song fits him, he gets the attention and likes it)

Sylvia - Bubblegum Bitch (it fits her mood and her and Dally’s “relationship”)

Soc girls (mostly Marcia and mb Cherry) - Sit still, look pretty (facing the constructs and pressure that comes from being a popular soc girl)

Um um I've been OBSESSED with the outsiders lately so here are my headcanons for the curtis bros + dally and johnny:

Ler:

Ooh this guy

When any of the gang are being brats, he will just pick them up and flip them on their backs and tickle them to peices

They all fear him

He is the type of guy to tickle everywhere, but once he finds a spot that REALLY gets you laughing, he just targets that spot until you're crying

I don't think he teases a lot, he focuses more on the tickling

He is pretty brutal but when you say stop he will stop

Definitely pins everyone down, he will NOT let them get away

Lee:

I can't think of him being a lee but I'll do my best 😭

Sometimes when soda is rubbing his back he'll just like slowly and softly tickle him and darry will quietly melt to the floor in giggles

I think his worst spots would be his armpits and sides

The gang rarely tickles him because they know he'll get them back 10 times worse

SODAPOP CURTIS

Ler:

Omg omg omg

This guy is such a teasy ler and will just put his hands above your tickle spot, and instead of tickling you he'll tease you about how much you're blushing

Almost every day goes up to members of the gang and just tases them

Type of guy to go to one spot, and then drastically change to another, and keep doing that, and you'll never know which one he'll go to next

He just loves to see people's reactions, that's like the only reason he tickles people

Lee:

He cackles like a witch

He is so squirmy they need 3 people to hold him down

Worst spots I think would be neck and ribs

He squeals. No, he screeches. People will sometimes go up behind him and like grab his sides and even though that's not his worst spot he will SCREECH LIKE AN EAGLE

He will anything in his power to not get tickled, but once someone starts tickling he will instantly stop fighting and give in.

PONYBOY CURTIS

Ler:

Looooooves to just go slow and soft with the tickles, all while looking you dead in the eyes. He knows what he's doing.

Will poke people in the sides to catch them off guard

Loves to say stuff like "what's wrong? What's so funny" "found your tickle spot!" "Just admit that you're ticklish!" Stuff like that

Likes to gang up on people

Lee:

AHHHH OMG OMG HES SO CUTE

He doesn't even try to fight he just folds in on himself and giggles like a little boy

Worst spots would be armpits and tummy

Would start crying in the first 5 seconds.

He begs so much, like full on screaming "PLEASE! STOP! IM GONNA DIE, PLEASE!" The neighbors get real worried.

So so soo wiggly, like he'll be on the ground flopping like a fish.

He will like jolt so the side and jump five feet in the air anytime someone just pokes him.

JOHNNY CADE

Ler:

He tries. He really does.

He is usually just the one holding someone down for the others

He thinks it's so funny how people react, like he'll be laughing harder than the person getting tickled.

Lee:

MY BABY

He is so giggly.

He never got tickled as a child so when he first got tickled he was so confused

He is the most ticklish out of the gang.

Tickle spots would be tummy and hips

At random points someone will just go up behind him while he's sitting down, and grab his arms and hold them above his head, and somebody else will just go to town tickling him.

He will do anything. Like he'll be frantically kicking and punching the air hoping to hit something.

My boy does NOT laugh enough so the gang will constantly tase him. He will squeal and just drop to the floor.

DALLAS WINSTON

Ler:

He is so mean oml

He will immediately find your worst spot, and just ruthlessly attack it until you can't form coherent thoughts anymore.

He loooooves teasing, "you better not be laughing at me!" "What's wrong? Does it tiiiiiickleeee?"

He will warn you first, because he likes the thrill of the chase, but when he catches you there is no escape.

Lee:

Ignores all screams of terror

Loves to go up behind people and tase them in the ribs

Ohhohoho

He is the type of lee to like be a tough guy and "I ain't ticklish! That's for babies!" But as soon as they actually tickle him he's down in seconds

He hates getting tickled because he thinks it makes him look weak and all

They tickle him anyway.

I think his worst spots would be his ribs and sides

He will kick, punch, scratch, bite, and thrash around like his life depends on it.

They need 3+ people just to hold him down

His face gets all red and he gets so embarrassed from it

Sometime post-canon when Darry is trying to solve the puzzle of how to improve his relationship with Ponyboy like a particularly difficult math equation, Soda will just sit him down and be like:

“Ya gotta use your words.”

“What do you mean?”

“Ya gotta tell Pony you love him.”

“Course I love him.”

“Right. I’m sayin ya gotta tell him.”

“Tell’im? Like he don’t know?”

“Well - yeah.”

“What?! That’s the craziest - why does he think I do all this for him, huh? Why does he think I fought so hard to get y’all to stay with me? Why I take care o’him-“

“Hey, hey, I know that. But ya still gotta say it. Ya gotta look him in the eye and say it plain. Say ‘Ponyboy, I love you. I don’t regret takin care of you. I’m sorry I’m hard on you sometimes, but it’s only cuz I worry about you, and I wanna keep you safe, and I want you to succeed.’”

“Of course that’s why! What does he think, I get on his case cuz I ain’t got nothin better to do?”

“Course not. But Dar?”

“What?”

“When’s the last time you said any of that? Ya know, with words.”

Sodapop brushes Pony's pretty blonde mane and braids it the best he can and feeds him cut up apples from his hand. He gives Ponyboy sponge baths cause he's afraid to be submerged in water. and that's how you groom a horse, anyhow. When Ponyboy gets spooked or triggered Soda just scratches his cheek and whispers all soft til his breathing slows down. Darry can't wrap his head around it, but he plays into it cause he just wants his baby to be ok.

Did anyone else notice that in justice for tulsa pual littarly sings, "we could sit here asking why" then immediately changes the topic.

Like he sings it kinds quickly and as the moment starts to build tensionand momentum. Also directly after cherry pointe out how, Bob kinda got himself killed. Like pual def knew what cherry was saying was true and he knew that if the other socs took half a min to think abt it they'd realise to and they'd be no rumble, no revenge. But he doesn't let that happen.

He cuts off cherry, he says they could question it then immediately changes the topic, shifting their focus, so they can't think.

Cause Paul is to wrapped up in his own grief and anger (and probably guilt cause, he knew if he just spoke up abt what bob was doing, just this once, mabye he wouldn't be dead. He wouldnt hsve been ablento save him) and he's trying to find a way to let that out. Which he dies by attacking those who can't fight back and who are to blame, technically.

It shows a) they absolute lack of individuality of socs and how much they actually really on fitting in and having a leader.

And b) that pual is really a soc, him doing that despite Consciously knowing cherry is right is kinda manipulative. Especially sense he's useing it to start violence for his own sake.

I need help finding a fanfic I read on ao3! All I can remember really is it's after Cherry gives Ponyboy Johnny's clothes and Darry and Soda can't get him to separate from them. I think there's some memory relapse on Pony's part maybe! He finally comes around and its really sad! I really want to read it again and I lost it after I cleared by history (I dunno why I do it, it's like swiping away tabs in my brain) anywho! If any of yall know what fic I'm talking about or have a list a similar fics! Plz plz lemme know!!!
