Hallsville: French Country Influence
Tumblr media
In a style reminiscent of French Provincial, our latest home impressively stands its ground, unique in its surrounds. With angles and bends, it wraps around its site so that on approach visitors are greeted with a full view of its elegance.
This is no regular home. Ten gables - some of which are doubles that stand below and then join onto another - help form the shape, each pointing skyward and giving height to balance the impact of the steep roof with its 35 degree pitch. (Roofs more commonly have a pitch around 22½-25 degrees). It was no simple feat working on this roof; care had to be taken to grip tightly and after a while the calves of the legs were aching as they were stretched out! With its terracotta tiles, this roof will look as good long into the future as it does today. These tiles actually came with a warranty that the colour will not change for the life of the tile; and they have an amazing 100 year warranty! That is peace of mind.
Tumblr media
Solid dry-pressed bricks from Namoi Valley Brickworks have been split into two sections: face brickwork at the base, and painted above; reminiscent of traditional whitewashed walls. They join at a soldier course of face brickwork which travels around the entire home. Soldiers also stand boldly above the windows and doors. Not all corners are 90 degrees (square), so squints have been used to form a solid brick bond up those angled corners. You can read all about squints and how they do this here.
Tumblr media
The wide frames on all the windows gives them a bold look to balance their appearance with the rest of the home. And for energy efficiency, all are double glazed. In keeping with the French style, arches feature prominently across the gables with arched windows to suit. These aren’t items that can simply be bought off-the-shelf. Custom-made windows, lintels, and architraves were called for; each manufactured to match the specific radius of the arc called for by the design for that window. As well as using our carpentry skills it was an opportunity to get into the workshop and do some steel work as well. You can read more about these arches in the second half of this post here.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Step inside and the sense of height continues. With a mix of ceilings between 9 and 10½ feet high the home feels open and spacious; glazed highlights above doors reinforcing this feel.
Tumblr media
This home is built with entertaining in mind. The generous kitchen allows plenty of room to work: huge island bench, loads of cupboard space, quality appliances and a glorious view to the hills of Daruka. A separate bar area allows the drinks zone to be kept separate with boiling/chilled water and everything else needed; appliances, sink, and storage. Both tie together with their genuine stone benchtops.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Relax in the lounge; its stacked stone feature fireplace gives that place to “back up to” on a cold winter’s night that we all look for. Or in milder weather, open the twin sets of double-doors directly onto the Alfresco area.
Tumblr media
The French theme continues with custom timber beading adorning the walls in the lounge and formal dining areas to form a focal point for decorating. Instead of sharp edges along the arched walkways, soft curves with bullnose edging prevail. Look up and solid plaster cornices and ceiling roses provide a focal point. Look down, and wide skirting boards that balance the cornice then lead on to flooring which has been meticulously laid with a wall perimeter then feature beading, all filled in with herringbone.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
In the living areas, doors can open four-wide for entertaining, or close to better suit family life or for noise control.
The sleeping wing is a quieter and cosier area, with lower ceilings and carpeted floors - ideal for rest and comfort. Bedrooms with built in or walk-in robes to suit. Bathrooms with tiles to ceiling height and heated towel rails. Walk-in linen and storage room. All perfect for day-to-day family life.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
As with all our houses, the timber work (doors, architraves, skirting boards etc) have been finished with a traditional brushed paint finish.
Tumblr media
There are still some fittings yet to be chosen for this home but we’re sure the owners will enjoy finding those perfect items with which to finish it off. And we are also excited to see the landscaping put in place, to make the house look at home.
A bold and beautiful home for the ages.
This is another truly unique home we have built, designed by Urban and Abode for our client. The initial construction schedule was impacted by constant rain but once that settled down and the slab was poured, progress was smooth to the end. The design and style is very different to the previous house we built last year, but that is the thing with custom homes. Each is unique because every family finds joy in a different style, and their house must fulfil the needs of their site, and how they will live within the home. What remains the same though is that every J & S house is built with care and attention to detail so that it does fulfil those needs and bring joy for years to come.

How to Find the Best Towel Warmers
Whether you are looking for a simple towel warmer or a towel dryer with advanced features, there are plenty of options to choose from. With some research, you can find the best towel warmers that fit your needs and budget.
Wall-mounted
Using a wall-mounted towel warmer is a great way to save floor space and create an elegant look. They are available in both plug-in and hardwired versions. They come in a variety of finishes.
If you want a more energy-efficient option, you may want to consider installing a hydronic wall-mounted towel warmer. These warmers connect to the existing hot water plumbing in your home. They can provide radiant heat to your towels and are the most effective and efficient option.
Wall-mounted towel warmers are easy to install. You simply need to find a stud and a wall anchor. You can then plug the warmer into a GFCI outlet. It may also be necessary to install a separate switch.
Freestanding
Using a freestanding towel warmer can be a great way to keep your towels warm and dry. They are convenient, inexpensive, and easy to install. Using one is also safe for children.
Freestanding warmers come in many styles, including a cabinet style, rail style, and bucket style. Each style is suitable for different applications. The freestanding warmer is a simple design that uses electricity to warm towels. There are several common color choices, including brown, gray, black, and chrome.
If you have a small bathroom or mud room, a freestanding towel warmer is a good choice. It takes up less space than a wall-mounted warmer, and it can be moved from room to room.
Electric
Whether you’re trying to make a room feel warmer or you just want to use your towels longer, electric towel warmers are a great way to go. They are available in a variety of sizes, styles, and price ranges. In fact, they are one of the most affordable household appliances available.
A towel warmer can save you money on your electric bill, and they can also help to keep your floors clean and dry. But there are some things to keep in mind before you buy one.
Electric towel warmers use a small amount of electricity, and they can help you get the job done quicker. They may also have features like an auto shut-off, a timer, or a safety feature.
Safety features
Using towel warmers is a great convenience, but it can also be a safety hazard. The heaters need to be installed properly to ensure safety.
If you’re installing a towel warmer yourself, ensure the unit is installed on a wall with mounting hardware. Be sure to use a certified electrician. You also want to ensure the unit is grounded. A grounded cord will protect the unit from water damage.
Several towel warmers also come with UV sterilizers, which kill microorganisms and mildew on towels. These are a good feature for any warmer. UV radiation breaks down chemical bonds in the DNA of water-borne germs, rendering them incapable of reproducing.

Frequently Asked Questions
How do you update a bathroom on a tight budget?
It is important to first take stock of all the items you have. This includes everything, including toilets and sinks, mirrors, towels racks, lighting fixtures, and even toilets.
Once you’ve compiled the list you will need to determine if any items may be salvageable. If they’re not salvageable then they need to be replaced.
Next, you’ll need to decide how much money you want to spend on each item. Once you have an idea of the amount you will spend on each item, you can start looking for replacement parts online and in local hardware shops.
Finally, you can update your bathroom once you have your new parts. This could include tiling or painting the walls. You should stick to your budget, no matter what route you take.
What is the cost of a bathroom remodel to increase my home’s worth?
Bathroom remodels usually have a return-on-investment (ROI) between 60% and 70%. This makes them an excellent choice if you are looking to increase the value of your home. The extent to which your bathroom remodel will increase your home’s value depends on many factors. These include the scope of work, quality of materials used and the location. A luxury bathroom remodel will offer a better return than a modestly-appointed one in a lower-income area.
The First Things to Consider When Planning A Bathroom Renovation
When planning your bathroom renovation, there are many factors to consider. It is important to establish a budget and stick to it. This will help to ensure that the whole process is smooth and without unexpected costs.
Once you have determined your budget, it is now time to decide what design you want for the bathroom. Are you looking for something modern or more traditional? How much space will you need? These are critical questions you should ask yourself before starting any renovation.

How to Buy a Toilet For Your Home
How To
Here are 10 things no one tells you about bathroom renovations
It is often overlooked when it comes time to make home improvements. The bathroom is an important part of any house. There are many different ways to improve your bathroom, and there’s no reason to wait until everything around the house needs improving before starting to transform yours into something beautiful and relaxing.
These are some ideas to help you transform your bathroom without spending a fortune.
Soften the Walls – Paint the walls in pastel colours, such as white, pink, and yellow to make a dramatic difference in the bathroom. The effect is very subtle, but it adds a lot of charm to the room.
You can add lighting to your bathroom. There are many options available. A suitable lighting fixture will help brighten up the area and bring out the colour of the paint on the walls. You can also use small fluorescent bulbs or string lights to get the same effect, but they are usually more expensive.
Incorporate Storage Space – If you have limited storage space, you’ll be glad to know that installing shelves above the toilet or under the vanity cabinet can provide plenty of extra storage space. You can use these shelves to store towels, toiletries, or other items that you need close at hand.
Shower Curtains – These are a simple but useful addition to any bathroom. They come in various designs and styles and can be easily customized to match the decor of your bathroom.
Make Your Bathroom Stand Out – If you don’t have a towel rack, towels can make your bathroom look more interesting. Hang some bright towels from the rod instead. This way, you won’t only get fresh towels but also a bit of fun out of your bathroom.
You can bring in nature – Although it may seem odd to place plants in the bathroom, it creates a very pleasant atmosphere. Be sure to choose plants that don’t attract insects.
Create a Relaxing Bathroom Atmosphere. You can use scented candles or oils to create a peaceful atmosphere. These can be inexpensive and create a tranquil ambiance.
Go Green. It doesn’t take a whole new bathroom to go green. For example, you might replace your toilet paper rolls with reusable ones. You can also switch to environmentally friendly cleaning products.
You can transform your vanity cabinet. Vanity cabinets can be made from plastic, wood or metal. You can modify their design, add features or replace the whole cabinet.
Get a new toilet paper holder – Your bathroom’s organization and cleanliness will depend on the quality of your toilet paper holder. It’s time to make it more modern. There are many ways you can do this.

swimsuit | poly!kayshton
Tumblr media
anon: So, I was thinking, maybe plussized!reader with poly!kayshton. Like, going swimming and reader is kinda nervous, especially with the way haters have compared y/n to Kaykay, but once they see you in your high waisted bikini it drives them crazy.  notes: this was meant to be 600 words AT LEAST but we all know when it comes to poly!kayshton i have zero control and this turned into 2.5k words. (also i have two more poly!kayshton pieces coming up at some point. warnings: smut word count: 2.5k lmao
-
The trip to Bali had come at a good time for the three of you. Ashton had a break before he was jetting off for tour and Kaykay had nothing extravagant happening, a few shoots that could be pushed back. You’d been signed off from work, desperately needing a recovery period mentally.
It wouldn’t have gotten so bad had your bitch of a boss decided that she didn’t like your relationship, consistently giving you the early morning shift that no one wanted, dressing you down in front of customers and making rude remarks directed at you about your weight, your body and question how your partners could ever love you.
You’d been able to deal with it until Ashton had posted a photo of the three of you from Christmas. You’d been sprawled across their laps, Kaykay’s fingers in your hair with Ashton’s hands on your back.
The moment for you was precious. It was the first time you’d actively let yourself relax on them instead of between them or against them. You’d been so frightened but the way that Kaykay had used her fingers on your scalp to help you relax, had melted you into a puddle of goo. Ashton had laughed and chucked his phone at Luke who’d been visiting and asked him to take a photo.
The comments that had flooded in were nasty at best and vile at worst. Ashton had to turn off his comments before deleting and re-uploading the photo but the damage had been done and the voice in your head seemed to get louder every so often.
So you’d lodged your complaint with HR and gotten yourself signed off for three weeks. Ashton had taken full advantage of that.
You’d not visited Bali before, so despite your tiredness, your eyes were wide and curious as you leaned across Kaykay to try and see everything, making her laugh.
“Curiosity of a kitten.” She teased and you shot her a look of feigned hurt. She smiled in return and kissed your lips.
“We’ve got time to explore, little one. You can let your curiosity run rampant then.” Ashton coaxed and you hesitated, especially with how you were leaning over Kaykay.
You tossed your head back to look, at him, mischievous grin on your lips.
“I thought you liked this view though.” It stunned them both for a second before Kaykay shared a grin with you but Ashton had you both in his hand firmly as he landed a smack on your backside, earning a pout from you.
“Don’t be a brat. I promise we’ll explore. Sit back for now till we get to the hotel.” You finally acquiesced to his request, pouting as you did. But he let a hand rest on your thigh, pressing a kiss to your temple.
Kaykay was grinning like a child on Christmas Day and you wondered why as she let her head rest on your shoulder, her eyes wide as her arm rested across your stomach. You fought the urge to tense your body at her touch, keeping yourself relaxed as you gave her a curious look.
“That was the first time you started playing up without any encouragement from me, Angel.” Ashton groaned as she giggled.
“So?”
“She’s pointing out that this trip is a blessing in disguise because you’re relaxing if you’re testing boundaries already, little one. Not to mention that you’re starting to let go a little more with us.” Ashton’s words were tinged with amusement and pride.
It had taken you a while to not hold yourself back with them. The first time they’d approached you, you’d thought it was a joke until Kaykay had asked if she could kiss you and you’d melted into her almost immediately. It was learning steps for you to have both of them love on you with no holding back, appreciating every roll and curve of yours to the point where you found it easier to do things like sprawl across their laps and not hesitate because you were scared of your weight crushing them.
When you finally reached the hotel and Ashton had paid the driver, Kaykay had slipped her hand in yours and pulled you to the view that you’d get to experience over the course of the next couple of weeks.
“So you reckon that this was the better decision?” Kaykay asked quietly as you two sat and waited whilst Ashton checked the three of you in. You were leaning against her, a soft hum escaping as you allowed her fingers to massage your scalp, your eyes closing as you enjoyed the attention from her.
“Definitely. Spoke to HR about it as well and explained that we were flying out of the country for two weeks. They’d done the whole “was this booked in advance and denied?” So I showed them the screenshot that Ash sent us when I went in to hand in my sign off. I honestly don’t feel so on edge and haven't done since the plane took off.” You admitted softly and Kaykay sighed as she withdrew her fingers from your scalp, earning a whine of protest from you.
Only she wrapped her arms around you, cutting off the whine and you relaxed into her touch.
“We could see you reaching breaking point. Ash was scared that you’d snap first which is why the second you told us your doctor had signed you off, he went ahead and booked the trip. No fans, no paps. Just the three of us and our very private place and pool.” You giggled as she pressed small kisses to your face before her lips met yours.
“I got really lucky with you two.” You finally whispered and she smiled in response.
“C’mon you two. Our room is ready.” Ashton’s voice was gentle as he reached the both of you, having overheard the last part he knew this was something you definitely needed. Once you were up, you kissed him softly before lacing your fingers with his.
“After you.” The grin you wore he matched and the three of you headed out.
The place was beautiful. You felt your breath get stolen from you as you walked through the place. There was a small kitchenette with a dining area, it then opened into a wide lounge which seemed to creep outside to an open plan garden that housed a pool which overlooked the view of the ocean.
Upon further exploring, you found the large bedroom with an attached bathroom and a balcony, overlooking the forest outside. Opening the glass panel doors, you leaned against the railing as you tilted your head back, enjoying the warmth of the sun.
You could hear Ashton’s footsteps pause and you finally turned your head to see his phone up and a soft grin on his lips.
“You look utterly stunning sweetheart.” He murmured as he finally put the phone down and came up behind you, arms wrapped around your neck as he leant his chin on the top of your head.
It was blissful and perfect.
“Do you reckon we’ll get a chance to hike?” You murmured softly, leaning into his touch. He hummed noncommittally in return, and you closed your eyes.
You knew you were going to enjoy it here.
-
The first few days were met with little resistance from you. Ashton had been before so he was designated planner, and he planned it so that those first few days you were exploring the city with them. The three of you were very careful whilst you were out and about, much to Ashton’s annoyance but he understood that you were hesitant to flaunt the relationship with them.
The nights were often filled with various things from visiting their bars to being invited to beach parties by other tourists. You always woke up nestled between your two favourite people.
It was finally a more relaxed day, nothing specifically planned. So Ashton had headed out to the pool and Kaykay had followed shortly after.
You, however, hesitated.
You opted to hide in the shade, watching them play about in the pool with a pang of sadness.
The thought of wearing the swimsuit you had for this trip, terrified you. You’d managed to get away with wearing shorts and baggy shirts or loose breathable fabrics to keep you cool whereas Kaykay had practically lived in her bikini. But you’d seen enough comments.
You couldn’t help but compare yourself and as much as you told yourself that they loved you, it still frightened you to wear something like that.
Another part of your mind continued to tell you how stupid you were since they’d seen you naked, they loved on every inch of your skin. But the anxiety overwhelmed your sensibilities, so you remained hidden in the shade, in a tunic and shorts to combat the heat of the afternoon.
Kaykay, however, was having none of that.
She looked like a goddess as she pulled herself out of the pool, the small towel wrapped around her body to keep the dripping water to a minimum as she made her way over to you. Your throat went dry as she sat herself in your lap, setting your book aside carefully as she pouted at you.
Immediately you knew any argument was going to be lost. You always struggled to resist her pleading eyes.
“Why aren’t you out in the pool with us?” You hesitated at her question. Part of you wondered if you could lie and see if she’d buy it, but they both knew you better than you knew yourself.
She’d see through the lie instantly.
“I’m scared of wearing the swimsuit.” You haltingly admitted, your eyes silently begging her to understand your anxiety.
She opened her mouth before pausing and closing it again and you looked away from her.
“You know we think you’re beautiful in whatever you wear, right?” The question caught you off guard as she shifted so that she was straddling your lap, her hands cupping your face as your hands rested on her waist.
You ignored your mind pointing out it was yet another difference between you two.
“They compare us constantly and I hate it because it’s all I can see.” You whispered in return and her face dropped and she leaned forward to kiss you, her lips peppering your face before they finally met yours.
“You are your own beautiful person. Ashton loves both of us for who we are, not what we look like. I love you for who you are, this witty, charming, intelligent person who in some ways outshines me six ways to Sunday.” Your heart was beating rapidly as you forced back your tears.
“Peachy.” You murmured and she shook her head.
“No. You listen to me. They’re all fucking assholes for doing that to you. You’re beautiful, funny and I love you for you. Go get changed and join us. Please?” And your resistance crumbled as you closed your eyes and kissed her softly.
“Fine. Go back out and I’ll be out in a few.” And she beamed as she slid from your lap and made her way back out.
You heard Ashton ask if everything was okay as you headed back to the bedroom, but you missed her reply.
Putting the bikini on felt every kind of wrong. But as you slid the high waisted bottoms on, you could see that actually, you looked cute.
And you held onto that feeling as you grabbed one of the towels and made your way back out. You stopped yourself from grabbing the tunic as you made your way back through and paused by the door.
Neither of them were looking at you, so you took in a deep breath and placed the towel on one of the many sun loungers and made your way to the side where the steps into the pool began.
Your movement had caught their attention and both turned to watch you, and you forced yourself not to hide away from their stares. Kaykay’s lips were slightly parted and Ashton’s eyes never left you as you slowly descended into the cool water.
Swimming over to the ledge they were both resting on that overlooked the ocean, Ashton was quick to pull you to him, wrapping your legs around his waist with an almost predator-like grin.
“Look at our gorgeous baby.” He breathed before Kaykay broke from the stupor.
“Holy shit Angel. Do you not realise how hot you look?” You wrapped your arms around Ashton’s neck, knowing the water made it easier for him to hold you like this.
“I don’t-well, no.” You changed your words at Ashton’s warning look. His hands moved around to your ass, squeezing it briefly before he pulled you flush against him, a small ‘oh’ dropping from your lips.
“Trust me sweetheart, you look fucking fantastic.” He murmured and you couldn’t meet his eyes for a moment.
Kaykay wore a smug grin as she came up behind Ashton, her arm reaching around him as she brushed over your nipple through the fabric of the swimsuit and you pressed your lips together.
“Oh angel, you look just ravishing.” Kaykay breathed as she repeated the action.
Your eyes fell shut before the snapped open as you felt the top get pulled off and Ashton smirked as he threw it in the direction of the towels, a wet slap to the ground signifying that it had landed within the targeted area.
Ashton had placed you on your feet, your back to the ocean as Kaykay stood in front of you, her head dipping and catching a nipple in her mouth. You belatedly realised she’d discarded her top as well.
Ashton was stood next to you, his lips working your neck as his fingers slid beneath the bottoms and he wasted no time in pushing his fingers into you.
Not to be left out, Kaykay slid her fingers to your clit and added with the cooler temperature of the water, everything felt more intense as they slowly worked you up until your legs were shaking.
“Oh my god please. Please let me cum.” You finally whimpered out, earning a smirk from Ashton as Kaykay’s lips found yours.
“Cum all over his fingers baby.” You needed no further encouragement as your head tilted back and you moaned, Ashton continuing to work you through your high until you whined, your hips shifting a bit.
“Absolutely not sweetheart. C’mon, let us show you how good you looked.” And you didn’t protest as he led the way from the pool, Kaykay trailing behind as you tried to catch your breath, almost moaning at the sight of him stripping down.
“On the bed little one, me and Peach have got a lot of time to make up for.”
You definitely couldn’t complain as their lips moved across your body and their hands left marks that you loved to see on your skin days afterwards.
You knew in a heartbeat that you’d be back here with them in the future and you were almost certainly going to wear the swimsuit.

Hizzie Prompt... Ok so Lizzie has to deal with Hope while in heat or during a blood moon
Read on Ao3 | Send me more Legacies Prompts!
Title: Uncharted Waters
Ship: Hope Mikaelson/ Lizzie Saltzman
[A/N: I will be the absolute first to admit that I got a little carried away with the plot here, I really enjoy the disgruntled lifeguard thing. So that means this could totally get a part two if you guys want!]
The day held a soft golden hue to it, spilling onto the scalding cement and glinting expertly against the choppy artificial waves that started at one end of the pool and pushed to the section that Lizzie was stationed at. She had the liberty of a sun-stained umbrella and a bout of shade that did nothing to quell the heat of the summer wind.
Cool Waves Summer Adventure Park was the bane of her existence. For the cheap wage of seven dollars an hour she would rise before the sun and leave when the night was finally cooling off. Everything smelled like cheap spray tan and sunscreen, and the occasional puddle of vomit. But her father insisted that she keep the position as a lifeguard if she wanted to keep that nice 1969 Chevy Camaro that a family friend had given her.
So she sat at the far end of the pool, day in and day out, watching for lazy parents that tip too far on the rafts, or for their demon kids who would drink the chlorine infused water. Occasionally she would have days like this; where it was crowded and the sun was more irritating than anything.
“Sir I don’t know how to explain this to you in any other way. The coupon you have isn’t even for our park. I couldn’t give you half-off at the snack shack even if I wanted to.”
If the customer in front of her wasn’t already sunburnt, she could see his bald head shifting through three shades of red. He frowned and removed his sunglasses because maybe that would make him look more intimidating, but really it just paid tribute to how many times he had fallen asleep by the side of the ocean. He had the measly paper clenched between his fist.
“Maybe if you went to the snack shack, they could help.” She tried weakly. It was dirty, she knew, pushing the disgruntled father off towards another department. But she was a lifeguard and nowhere near the food stand. “I’m sure they could give you something.”
He sputtered, not happy with the answer. “I want to talk to your supervisor, Josie.”
She glanced down at the white logoed shirt that hugged her closely, damp with sweat. He had used her name to drive a point, but she had grabbed the wrong nametag this morning on her way out the door. Another misstep that she would have to make up to her sister somehow in the next few days.
Lizzie opened her mouth to respond but halted to a stop when the sharp cut of a whistle captured both of their attentions. It wasn’t Lizzie’s hers still hung lazily around her neck, collecting heat like a beacon.
It was easy to spot an accident, she learned that her fourth day on the job when part of the Black Vulture came loose and the large waterslide was shut down faster than an ambulance could arrive to haul away the kid who got a few bruises.
People tended to clear and gawk instead of doing what they could to help. Right now there was a steady circle in the middle of the water and something, someone, thrashing around in the deeper end of the pool. Lizzie could feel her heart in her chest and suddenly didn’t care much about arguing with a disgruntled patron.
She moved quickly past the umbrella, and the chair, shoving both of her hands against the large red button that screamed: IN CASE OF EMERGENCY. It didn’t do much of course, but it did bring the motor that created waves in the pool to a screeching halt. They had never used it before.
And then there was the girl, the one who blew the whistle in the first place. Hope Mikaelson didn’t bother shedding away her shirt or pulling the walkie-talkie from the waistband of her annoyingly tight shorts. Instead, she jumped into the pool with expert speed and precision.
Lizzie rushed down the cement steps, hand running across the scalding metal railing. “10-10 wave pool.” She knew her words were breathy over the radio, and she knew even more than that, that this wasn’t just a possible drowning. It was laid out clear and plain in front of her but her scrambled mind couldn’t get a grasp on the correct code.
Hope had pulled the young girl from the far end of the pool and onto the edge by the time that Lizzie had gotten there. They were both dripping and she had linked her hands together, placing them in the center of the young girl's chest, lips blue.
“Where the hell were you?” Hope snarled, squaring her shoulders and applying pressure in intervals. Her mouth moved while she counted before she said: “Help me, Saltzman.”
Lizzie didn’t need to be told twice. She was careful, listening to Hope count out the last five intervals before she lilted the girls chin up and blew just enough air into her lungs to push them outwards. She did this twice before Hope started pressing against her chest again.
Everything had slowed and by the time Hope alerted her of her position, Lizzie was ready to lean forward again. The girl coughed violently, a mix of bile and water pushed from her lips and a healthy dose of color returned to her cheeks.
“Stand back, both of you” Lizzie was shoved to a standing position as the real medical team got there, heeding her shout over the radio. The on-call medic pressed two gloved fingers to the edge of the girls throat for a pulse, despite her lucidity. “It’s a good thing you were here.”
“Where else would I be?” Hope asked, her words dripped of acid and her stare burned like a flame. Lizzie frowned.
“That’s not fair, I was dealing with another situation.”
“Yeah, so was I but I always keep on eye on the pool, Lizzie. That’s basic lifeguarding.” Hope started to walk to the main office shoving past her, shoulder wet and cold as she dripped onto the dry pavement. “Get it together.”
Lizzie wanted to call after her just like she had wanted to rip that guy's coupon to shreds and push him into the shallow end. But she bit her tongue until she could taste blood again before turning her attention back to the medic and the young girl who sat at the edge of the still water.
“You were really lucky that Hope was there.” MG struggled with the combination of his lock. He had been at it for a good fifteen minutes, but with no luck. Lizzie considered the fact that he had the wrong locker altogether, but she resorted to pulling on a sweatshirt, not wanting to stare at that stupid logo of the penguin holding a beach ball anymore.
“But why was she there?” Lizzie asked, earning a patronizing stare. “Not that I’m not thankful. That girl is totally alive because of her. But last time I checked, the almighty Hope Mikaelson was stationed at Hurricane falls, all the way on the other end of the park.”
He pulled down on the lock one final time and it clicked open fluidly. “Yes! Alyssa said she wasn’t feeling well so she was going to take a break in the shade. Hope kind of blew up on her.”
“Yeah, me too.”
Lizzie let the conversation fizzle in the air as MG collected his stuff from the locker, shoving his car keys in the slim pockets of his shorts. Though she thought that the girl had a hero Complex, Hope was anything but violent. Never one with a short fuse and always liked by every single supervisor including Alyssa.
The two of them strolled out into the nearly desolate park, breathing in the hot air. It had cooled off significantly from the afternoon and the usually pitch-black path was lit by an oddly orange light, a curved half-moon in the sky.
“Would you look at that?” MG stared up at it and blinked “Kind of cool,”
Blood Moons weren’t cool, not the full ones anyway. Not in Lizzie Saltzman’s household. She wasn’t an expert in the supernatural by any means, but she had found enough old and dusty books in her mother’s stuff to know that the energy around them was anything but pleasant. That the world was better off forgetting anything like that existed in the first place.
Over the years she and Josie had tried to ask their parents about it, about the old stories and the reason they had all of that stuff in the first place but they were shut out each time. Because magic didn’t really exist, and neither did the creatures that basked in its light.
“Oh, shoot-“ Lizzie patted down her person, “I forgot my keys. Go on without me.”
MG hesitated, his features soft in the darkened crimson light. “You’re sure?”
She nodded, sure of herself. Nothing bad happened here, not this late at night when all the bloodthirsty tourists had retired for fancy dinners by the ocean’s edge. Even if something did happen, the park was littered with cameras, and she was confident.
Lizzie parted ways with him and the two of them walked in opposite directions. Him towards the parking lot and her towards the main building, filled with offices and the employee locker rooms, lined with metal and eerily silent at this time of night.
The air was thick and wet with steam and the scent of soap, unlike it had been moments ago. She felt sweat collect instantly against her skin. They had showers lining the far end, something that had never been converted from the park's original design. But no one ever used them.
Lizzie silently crept towards her locker and started to struggle with her combination just like MG had. Her fingers were shaking, and she was starting to think coming back here on her own was her worst idea yet. But finally, she got enough advantage to snatch them and closed it softly, turning, but halting.
Her body came in contact with another, so quiet and smelling fresh like lavender body wash. Not the usual chemical scent that they all carried home with them like a badge. She felt the soft edge of a towel under her fingertips and slammed her back against the cold metal of the lockers.
“Jesus Christ Hope, you scared the hell out of me!” Lizzie felt her heart in her throat once more but for a different reason than before. Not adrenaline, not fear- something else entirely that she couldn’t’ pinpoint.
Hope was wrapped tightly in a dark green towel, or maybe it was black, she couldn’t tell over the soft light that flooded the bathroom like split blood. It shaded the girls features, sharp and different. Her hair was damp.
“Oh?” She cocked a perfect brow “Should I start wearing a bell, Saltzman?”
“Yeah, maybe. What are you doing here so late anyway?”
Hope raked her gaze up and down Lizzie’s frame before landing back on her stare. “I could ask you the same question.”
“I forgot my keys.” She jingled them like a prize, swallowing the way her hair raised on end, goosebumps prickling. “Hey, I wanted to apologize about earlier today. It pains me to admit it, but you were right. I should have been paying more attention.”
The Mikaelson girl nodded thoughtfully and pulled the towel closer to her, suddenly moving an inch of a step back. Hope frowned and Lizzie couldn’t tell if it was about what she had said or the sudden loss of heat in the air. The light had shifted, hidden behind nothing but a wisp of a cloud.
“Uh, yeah.” Hope cleared her throat and blinked dumbly and took another step back. “Don’t worry about it. You should probably get home.”
Lizzie stared at the girl and the way she pulled into herself against the darkness of the locker room. It hung in the air and her fingers tightened against the edge of her keys. She knew she should wait for Hope, should offer her a ride home or politely walk her to her car- but she didn’t. Instead, she nodded slowly.
“See you tomorrow?”
Hope averted her stare, “yeah, sure thing.”

This family home and office on the banks of Lake Geneva, with architecture by SAOTA and interiors by ARRCC, was designed for a successful Senegalese businessman based in Switzerland. The home draws on the owner’s heritage to advance an emerging African‐inspired aesthetic in its sculptural form, materiality, and textural quality. Photography by Adam Letch, Stefan Antoni.
.
The triangular shape of the dramatically located lakeside site, in addition to strict planning parameters and prohibitions, imposed considerable restrictions on the design. The response was to carve architectural forms from the triangular footprint of the site and to create a ‘reductive’ sculptural design of round‐edged cubes and triangular masses. For ARRCC Director Mark Rielly, this bold approach to form directly influenced his approach to the interiors. Working closely with the homeowners, Mark sourced from a wide range of South African and international décor and furniture brands. “The contemporary architectural space defined the design direction, resulting in a modern approach with brands of diverse origin chosen for the décor,” says Rielly. Internally, finishes include walnut joinery, marble and travertine floors and light granite wall cladding with stainless steel detail insets. Externally dark zinc cladding covers the sculptural forms with textured granite used on feature wall and the floors. A double-volume living area, with a curved glass wall façade facing the lake, flows into the dining area and kitchen on the ground floor while the bedrooms and en-suites are located on the top level. Furniture with organic and rounded shapes were selected to accommodate the irregular shape of the main living spaces, with the living room divided into two zones, a formal and informal area that are centred around the feature fireplace – a suspended black flue and fire dish secured to the floor. Comfort in this generous, open-plan layout is achieved using modular furniture pieces, such as Arne sofas from B&B Italia, that can be easily reconfigured to create continuity between the two living areas. Custom GT armchairs by South African studio OKHA and a leather pouffe by Dominique Perrault and Gaëlle Lauriot-Prévost add to the luxe layering, further bridging the gap between formal and informal spaces. This blurring of African and European provenances continues with the mix of organic-shaped patchwork Nguni rugs, African-inspired ceramics by Louise Gelderblom, a colourful portrait from Parisian artist Françoise Nielly and a horse lamp from MOOOI. An eye-catching wall of randomly patterned Chandore stone with recessed strips of stainless steel becomes an architectural feature in itself. The dining room features a glass OKHA Vista table, which complements the glass and timber screen wall panel behind. Wooden slats on the glass screen match the timber panelling of the bar area, with polished steel OKHA Frame barstools complimenting the dining selections. A Carolina Sardi art installation consisting of suspended yellow discs create striking focal points on the wall of the bar. The upper level is accessed by a spiral staircase as well as a glass-cylinder encased elevator, which houses the bedrooms. A yellow-coloured Caesarstone slab for the floor, vanity and mirror wall form a striking finish in the children’s bathroom. The bath alcove walls are clad in sheets of brushed stainless steel, contrasting with the polished chrome finishes of the heated towel rails and bathroom chrome ware. Through this symbiosis of iconic European design and an emerging African aesthetic, the interior successfully reflects the global family that live within the spaces, while achieving a nuanced layering of tones, textures and materials.

Rush!BTΣ — college!au, borderline crack au with @cynoirsure
a story about three friends and their obstacles of relationships, academic probation, and figuring out that international kids aren’t all that bad.
15/35
genre: angst, SLIGHT smut?
word count: 2.6k
warnings: swearing, underaged drinking
YOUR POV
Practice that day was one of the most concentrated the group has had in a while. Now that you all were working towards the goal of making something look good for the competition that was happening soon, you all were giving your 100% to the choreo that you had all made collectively.
Once the clock hit the end of rehearsal, everyone in WINGS was a sweaty mess. Hoseok was the first to pull himself together for ending remarks, clapping his hands.
“Ah, great job everyone!” His heart shaped smile showed his gratitude, pulling the towel around his neck in order to wipe away the extra sweat from his face. you were splayed out on the floor, next to a very sweaty Jungkook who was sitting upright. His legs were spread and his head was tilted back, his weight centered more on his hands. Your mind raced, making you think of what had happened last time you had seen that same exact position, except he was on his bed and you were in between his le--
“Hey lineage, are we still going out for drinks today? Deung Dae is doing ₩1,000 tequila shots today!” Jimin pushed his hair back from his face, grinning. Taehyung’s nose scrunched, a pout on his face.
“Ah, tequila shots? I wanna go...” Taehyung leaned his head onto Kevin’s shoulder, pouting at his boyfriend who was part of the lineage. Jimin frowned at Taehyung.
“But you can’t because you have that midterm paper in your animal nutrition class, soulmate.”
Kevin nodded his head at Jimin’s statement, shifting slightly to leave a small peck on Taehyung’s forehead, “I know it’s lineage bonding, Chim, but I think I’ll stay back tonight. I have a practical tomorrow to study for and I’ll also make sure this one actually writes his paper instead of playing with Tan.”
You, on the other hand, were having a staring contest with Jungkook, his eyes insinuating very inappropriate things as they looked you up and down. “-you, sis?”
“Huh?”
You broke eye contact with Jungkook, shooting up immediately and meeting Jimin’s fond smile, “Are you coming tonight? We don’t have biochem lecture tomorrow morning since Dr. Wang cancelled.”
Humming, you thought about the pros and cons of going out tonight after 10 pm. “I’ll go, but I need to shower first.” Jimin and Hoseok agreed with you, the older boy asking Jungkook if he wanted to come as well. The youngest Beta Tau agreed almost immediately, asking if his Big or Grand were coming with.
“I know Seokjin hyung’s coming, I don’t think your lineage is though, they’re lazy when it comes to weekday parties, and I think Yoongi and Jinhee have a ‘rehearsal’ or whatever they wanna call their date.” Hoseok said, “Don’t worry though, Kook, hyung will pay for your tequila shots tonight.”
“Let’s go, then?” You asked Jungkook, “I wanna shower as soon as possible.”
The group of you going out agreed to meet at Hoseok’s apartment at 11:30, leaving the dance studio altogether after saying your goodbyes to the couple. As soon as you were left alone with Jungkook walking back, he snuck a pinch of your ass.
“Why are you always horny, Jeon Jungkook?” You said with a sly smile, “We don’t have time for a quickie, besides I feel gross.”
“We can always shower together,” He suggested with a sparkling glint in his eyes. You shook your head making him whine, “y/n.”
“Jungkook,” you imitated, “hey! If you keep looking at me like that during practice, the oppas are bound to find out.”
“You looked at me first!” he retaliated, “and they only joke about it, it’s not like they’ll actually realize that we fuck almost every day.”
“You know,” You said jokingly as you scanned your ID to the gates of your dorm, “I sorta miss the Jungkook that could barely look at girls.”
“Really,” he said playing along with your tone, “You miss the Jungkook that won’t kiss and fuck you until you can’t breathe?”
As soon as the both of you entered the elevator, he closed you in against the railing, his face hovering above yours so closely that you could hear his every breath. His hands rested on your waist as yours circled around his neck. The boy leaned in, closing the distance between your lips, nipping at your lip when your hands fisted his hair. The kiss ended all too quickly as the ding of the elevator reached your floor. Jungkook pulled away and touched your cheek with a smirk, “Come to my room when you’re done getting ready.”
You replied breathlessly, walking in the opposite direction to your room to go take a shower. It took you 20 minutes to shower and get dressed into a cute outfit for the night. You settled with a pair of light ripped jeans and a black long sleeved mesh shirt with your favorite black Victoria’s Secret bra underneath and definitely see-through. After drying your hair and shoving a portable charger and money into a fanny pack, you left your room and headed towards Jungkook’s. You didn’t even bother to knock, knowing it would be unlocked anyway and walked in casually, “Ready to go Kook?”
The boy turned around to face you as he put his belt through the pant loops. He also wore jeans and a black top, but he added a beige-colored blazer, making his outfit a tad more professional. He didn’t even hide the way he checked you out, biting his lip as he stared, “Wow.”
You know what you were doing to him, but you decided to be difficult tonight, which you know eventually led to great sex, “C’mon, the oppas are waiting for us at the apartment.”
“y/n, you’re really wearing that and expecting me to not get hard?”
Rolling your eyes, you leaned in and pressed a quick kiss on his cheek, “Later after I get my shots, Jungkook.”
With a whine, the two of you left your dorms and went the short distance to Hoseok and Seokjin’s apartment. You felt the ghost of his hand hovering over the small of your back, the heat of his hand radiating through the mesh shirt. Right before opening the door to the annex of Seokjin and Hoseok’s apartment, Jungkook spun you around, pinning you to the wall and kissing you quite rough. You gasped in surprise at the sudden kiss, his eyes glazed over with lust as soon as you could pull away to see his face. Your lipstick was slightly smeared on his lips which made you turn pink. Jungkook only smirked, leaning into your ear.
“You just wait till we get back to the dorm, baby girl. You’re such a naughty girl for daddy, aren’t you?” Jungkook growled, your stomach flipping when he pulled away. You stood stunned as he walked into the apartment, leaving you outside for just a hot moment to check your appearance. You two usually messed around with each other every moment that you two had alone, but the way his words hit you was a little different today.
You shook your head. You’re just fuck buddies, nothing more. It’s not that deep.
The words echoed as a gentle reminder in your head as you cleaned up your lipstick, your head shaking slightly. You opened the door to their apartment, the first person who’s eyes caught yours being your Big Bro, Jimin. He beamed at you fondly, automatically making your lips curve up in a bright smile as well. You greeted your lineage first, the two of them smiling sweetly at you. As soon as Jimin picked you up as a Little Sis, Hoseok’s flirting antics stopped completely, the boy turning into a more relaxed version of protective Jimin. After them, you gave Seokjin a hug, the elder jokingly commenting, “It took you kids long enough.” You giggled a little, Hoseok leaning against the door leading down to the garage with Seokjin’s car keys in hand.
The handful of you got into the car, Seokjin and Hoseok playing a quick round of rock, paper, scissors to decide who was to drive back (spoiler alert: you didn’t even have to look up to hear the loud screams that was Seokjin complaining about being Hoseok’s designated driver). Jimin sat in between you and Jungkook, diffusing any funny business that you two would have even thought about doing. The car ride was loud as expected when the people sitting in the driver’s seat and shotgun were the loudest in the car, the ride to Deung Dae filled with laughs and terrible singing the whole way. Once the bar came into view, you began to buzz with excitement with how the night would end up for you and Jungkook.
--
You and Jimin sat at the bar, Jimin flirting casually with the bartender and coaxing out a few shots from the bartender. You were baffled with how easily the bartender gave into his flirting, even if it was ₩1,000 shots today. Jimin passed a shot to you, a grin on his face.
“Drink up, Lil Sis.”
You were only four shots in before Jimin started talking to you about Jungkook, “You know, y/n, I really thought something was going on between you and Jungkook, but I’m sorta over that thought now.”
“What makes you say that?”
He pointed to the dance floor with his fifth shot before downing it. Your eyes found Jungkook’s figure immediately, and with him you found a girl, ass pressed against his crotch. You felt your face go red and it wasn’t from the alcohol.
“Oppa, I think I’ve had enough for now, I’m gonna go dance,” you said absentmindedly to Jimin, the boy about to ask you something else before the bartender passed him another drink. Part of you wanted to stomp right up to Jeon Jungkook and slap the shit out of him, the other - more sober part - decided to just dance at a distance, eyeing the two every now and then.
Jealously filled your entire being as you saw the girl dancing with Jungkook kiss his neck. I’m gonna tell him, how fucking dare he break our agreement, was he that horny that he resolved to any willing pussy to satisfy his needs, I swear to-
“y/n? y/n hey!”
You awoke from your thoughts to meet eyes with Kim Mingyu. You knew Mingyu because he was in Jihoon’s friend group, the two of them rather close. After you and Jihoon stopped talking, you only saw Mingyu from Jungkook’s volleyball practices and games. He and Jungkook practiced together quite frequently, being gym and pepper partners.
You smiled at him, glad that it was a familiar face rather than some stranger, “hey Mingyu.”
“I haven’t seen you in so long,” he said moving along to the music with you, “you look amazing, by the way.”
“Thanks,” you said shyly, a blush forming on your cheeks. “Yeah, I don’t really hang out with Jihoon anymore, we both got super busy.”
“Such a shame, the boys and I really loved it when you came to our hangouts.”
You gently hit his arm, “hey, I see you when I go to Jungkook’s volleyball games.”
“Yeah, but all you do is watch Jeon,” he said with a smirk. You scoffed and strongly denied his comments, “If you say so, y/n. Tell me, are you and Jungkook a thing?”
You stopped dancing at his question, grabbing his wrist to let him know to follow you. the two of you weaved your way back to the bar, Mingyu paying for two margaritas. You looked around a little bit for Jimin, seeing as he was no longer taking shots. The two of you sat down and faced each other, leisurely taking sips of your drinks as you talked.
“Jungkook and I aren’t dating, we’re just...close friends,”
“So you’re fucking, I mean I see those hickeys when we practice,” Mingyu shrugged catching you off guard, “There’s no shame in hiding it, y/n. My best friend, you know Wonwoo, he’s in that sorta relationship right now with this one girl, too.”
“I-um...”
“You know, I only ask because I don’t wanna try and make moves on one of my friends’ girls,” He said, “I’m not that kind of guy, besides I respect Jeon a lot, he’s a good friend.”
You raised your eyebrow, finishing your drink, “Why, are you trying to make a move on me?”
The tall boy only slid his hand from your knee up to your thigh, his thumb making circles on your jeans, “Only if you’ll let me.”
If Jungkook could grind with some girl, then you could flirt with Mingyu. Besides, you always found Mingyu attractive. He was the perfect definition of tall, dark, and handsome.
“Mingyu, can you do me a favor?” You asked, “just for tonight?”
“I don’t catch feelings that fast, don’t worry.” He said placing his hand on your waist. Suddenly, you felt nervous leaning in to kiss Mingyu. Your kiss, however, was short lived as you felt Mingyu being roughly pulled away from you.
“Dude, what the fuck?”
As you faced a pissed-off Jungkook, your own anger and jealousy came flooding back. “Dude, don’t you have someone else you could be screwing?”
Mingyu tried to speak calmly, sensing the thick air between you and Jungkook, “Sorry, Jeon. I asked y/n and she said you two weren’t together.”
“We-We’re not, but just...don’t mess around with her.” Jungkook said, he could never be angry with his teammate, especially if that teammate was Mingyu. Mingyu nodded and gave your hand a quick squeeze, telling you it was his time to go.
“Mingyu-”
“y/n,” Jungkook said, he didn’t look nearly as intoxicated as you were, “why were you kissing him?”
“You have some balls to ask me that Jeon Jungkook,” you crossed your arms, “especially after you dry humped your dick against someone’s ass just 20 minutes ago.”
“I didn’t fuck her if that’s what you were wondering,” he said slowly getting frustrated, “we were just dancing.”
“And I was just talking with Mingyu.” you said, “I thought I told you months ago that I’m not going to do this fucking thing with you if you’re out screwing with other girls.”
Hoseok walked up to the two of you, noticing something weird going on, “Grand, Kook, everything okay?”
“Yeah, I’m just...gonna go now Grand,” you said.
“It’s barely 12:30, y/n.” He frowned, “How are you getting home? Jungkook?”
You shook your head, glancing at Jungkook who looked at you with a frown. “I’m gonna take an Uber.”
“Get home safely, grand. Okay?”
You left the club in a hurry, waiting outside as you called your Uber. It wasn’t until you were at your dorm when you burst out crying, thankful that your roommate wasn’t there for the night.
Why the fuck are you so hurt about this? Jungkook’s not your boyfriend. You’re only fuck buddies. That’s it.
You called your Big, not surprised that it went to voicemail, “-Unnie, I don’t know why I’m crying about him? Am I stupid for doing this dumb arrangement? God...I think I like him.”
---
“-I think I like him.”
Jieun sighed, leaning against the warm body that was asleep beside her. In a few moments, the figure stirred awake, arms wrapping around the girl automatically. “Good morning, gorgeous.”
“Morning.”
“something happen, Jieun?” He asked, rubbing his eyes. “I hope you’re not regretting what we did last night.”
“No, it’s just...you tell that brother of yours that I might kick his head open for making our Little cry.” she said turning in his embrace.
“Jungkook made y/n cry? For what?”
“All I can tell you Jimin, is that y/n felt upset about Jungkook flirting with another girl, and she cried about it, okay?” Jieun said, “she feels a bit sensitive since they hooked up at that one Beta Tau party.”
“She cried?” Jimin frowned, “I’ll...talk to Jungkook about it.”

Image Interiors – Small Bathrooms, Big Ideas
No matter how small your bathroom, a cleverly designed bathroom renovation can provide you with a practical and stylish space to suit your lifestyle. If your family has expanded or your circumstances have changed, you might consider an extension to increase the floorplan of your bathroom. However, if the expense of an extension is not an option, a well-planned bathroom re-model will provide an effective solution.
At Image Interiors we have the knowledge and expertise to create a space-efficient bathroom that will look and feel much larger than it actually is, with our intelligent and highly functional designs.
Tailored Designs
Our specialist team of designers will consult with you to establish your individual needs and priorities, in order to plan and design the most efficient layout to suit your requirements.
Clever Storage
A small bathroom can be transformed into a luxury space by using clever storage solutions to give the impression of a larger room by tidying away cluttered items and creating a minimalistic look. Wall mounted, slim line vanity units with an integrated sink on top will free up space in the bathroom.
Mirrored cabinets and wall mirrors also give the illusion of space and reflect light.
Combined sink and toilet units with storage included are a great way to add space by compacting three fixtures into one unit.
Baths
Choosing a bath with shorter dimensions in a range of stylish designs will create extra space in a smaller bathroom. A shower bath is a great way of combining two fixtures into one, with a folding screen to create the illusion of extra space. Some baths include clever storage for essential toiletries at the end or side of the bath.
Showers and Wet Rooms
Frameless walk-in showers or wet rooms with a ceiling mounted rain shower create a free-flowing spacious environment. Quadrant and curved corner shower units are a great space-saving technique to fit showers into small or awkward rooms. Sliding doors or clear glass doors create the illusion of space.
Basins
Wall mounted or floating basins allow more floor area to be seen which gives a more streamlined feel and creates the impression of extra space. Corner basins are available in many modern stylish designs and offer great space-saving potential.
Toilets
Corner toilets and wall hung toilets are some of the new ideas designers have developed in order to provide customers with inventive solutions for smaller bathrooms.
Heating
Radiators can take up valuable space in a small bathroom, so wall mounted heated towel rails are a great way to combine heating and towel storage. Underfloor heating is another option which will free up wall space.
Colour and Lighting
Simply choosing lighter colours and brightening up the room with well positioned lighting can have a huge impact on the visual effect of a room in terms of comfort and space. White or neutral fixtures give the impression of space, rather than dark and imposing fixtures which can be overpowering in a small bathroom. Consider installing a skylight to add extra light into a small bathroom.

Big Ideas for Small Shower Rooms
Big Ideas for Small Shower Rooms
Image from Houzz
Regardless of size, every shower room can be transformed into a stunning space with careful planning and attention to detail. Clever design means you can enjoy a comfortable space, and stylish bathroom furniture ensures a clutter-free haven. So, if you’re considering transforming a small bathroom into a shower room but not sure where to begin, then these small shower room ideas are to give you all the inspiration you need.
Open up the space
Creating a shower room provides a great way to save space in a small bathroom. You can achieve this by removing the bath and replacing it with a walk-in shower, which will instantly make the room look and feel more spacious.
Walk-in showers come in a huge range of sizes to suit any space, and they are a great option for adding sleek, designer style to your shower room. A walk-in shower enclosure consists of a low-profile shower tray and one or two frameless glass screens depending upon where it’s being installed. Providing easy access and plenty of showering space, a walk-in shower can be fitted between two walls, into a corner or you could create a walk-through shower. A walk-in shower also allows you to create a wet room look but without all the associated cost and hassle.
Fit a statement shower
A statement shower will add wow factor to any shower room. You could fit a rainfall shower head and a concealed shower valve for a contemporary look. Large, oversized recessed shower heads are a popular option right now, and they are designed to fit into the ceiling for a streamlined look. Shower towers are another great option for shower rooms. There’s many designs to choose from, and they incorporate massaging body jets, rainfall shower head and a hand shower on one easy to install panel. Some even feature a handy storage space for your showering essentials.
Or, why not bring the latest technology to your bathroom with a digital shower? Digital showers make it easy to create your perfect shower. They feature precise temperature control and programmable functions and are simple to use – just switch the shower on and off with the touch of a button. Some digital shower controls change colour, so you can tell when the water is at the desired temperature. Find out more in our guide to digital showers.
Space-saving shower enclosures
When choosing a shower enclosure for a small shower room, there are several space-saving options available. Quadrant shower enclosures are ideal for small bathrooms and shower rooms. They feature a curved front to maximise space and fit neatly into the corner of the room. Bi-fold shower doors are a good option for compact shower rooms too. Need more help with a choosing a shower enclosure for a small bathroom? Then take a look at our guide on the best shower enclosures for maximising space in small bathrooms.
Get clever with storage
Storage is essential in any bathroom, and even more so in a small shower room, so you’ll need to think of ways you can keep toiletries and other essential items stored away to ensure a clutter-free space.
Vanity units offer a stylish and practical storage solution for any bathroom. Available in a wide range of sizes and styles, vanity units combine a basin and storage into one space saving unit. To enhance a sense of space in small shower room, choose a wall mounted unit, which will keep the floor area clear. Mirrored cabinets are a great option too – choose one with LED lights and a heated demister pad to prevent the mirror from steaming up.
Other storage solutions include recessed shelves and storage niches, which can be built into a false wall. Or you could fit a couple of shelves and display perfume or other decorative objects.
Bathroom Furniture
Go for wall-hung
When choosing a toilet and basin for a small shower room, go wall mounted to enhance a sense of space. Wall mounted basins and toilets are great for creating a smart, contemporary look and they make cleaning the floor a lot easier too. They come in a variety of shapes and sizes ranging from clean square lines to stylish curves.
With a wall hung toilet, the support frame, cistern and plumbing are concealed in the wall behind, which provides a neat and tidy finish, so all that’s on show is the flush button and toilet pan. The wall needs to be strong enough to support the weight of the pan and frame, so it’s important to bear this in mind if you’re considering a wall hung toilet.
Wall Hung Toilets & Basins
Heat your shower room
Underfloor heating is a must-have (if budget allows) in any small shower room. Walking onto a warm floor on those freezing cold winter mornings will feel so luxurious! You may also want to incorporate a heated towel rail into your small shower room design so that you can keep your bathroom towels warm and toasty. Heated towel rails are available in a wide range of styles, finishes and sizes to suit any requirement. Chrome is a popular option as it blends in easily with any bathroom décor, but for a bolder option, an anthracite finish will add a touch of drama.
Vertical designer radiators also provide a stylish and practical, space saving heating solution for a small shower room. They come in various sizes and finishes including black, white, chrome and anthracite. Some can even be fitted with a towel rail, so you can keep your towels warm and dry.
Heated Towel Rails
Bounce light around
Image from Houzz
To enhance a sense of space in a small shower room, choose reflective materials to bounce the light around. A large unframed mirror provides a simple yet effective solution to make the room look and feel bigger than it really is. Mirrored cabinets are also perfect, while glossy surfaces will reflect the light and create a smart, contemporary look. You could even create a mirrored wall for a luxury look and extra wow factor.
Plan the colour scheme
Image from Houzz
Your choice of colour is important in a small shower room, so take some time to think about how you want the space to look and feel. Neutral colours make will make your shower room feel calm and aesthetically pleasing. Dark shades work surprisingly well in small spaces, as they can make the room feel luxurious and inviting. Matching wall and floor tiles provide the illusion of more space and creates a seamless design that’s chic and modern. Also, make use of textures and patterns to add creativity and depth. Patterned tiles and mosaics are a great option for adding interest, and are very on-trend.
Add pops of colour
If you want to add colour to your small shower room, but not keen on painting the walls a bold shade, you could introduce colourful accessories, towels and baths instead. Pops of colour can liven up a neutral or plain white scheme and add extra interest to the space. If you need some colour inspiration for your shower room, then take a look at our blog on bathroom colour ideas.

Functions and Feelings (III) - BoruSara
Chapter 3: Balconies
Characters/Pairings: BoruSara
Rating: T
Genre: Romance and Humor
Summary: Boruto wins a bet with Sarada to let him be her personal body guard during the Five Kage Summit to be held in Sunagakure. The functions they attend help them both to slowly realize their true feelings for each other.
This is also a sequel to my one shot Perfect Balance. You don’t need to read it in order to fully understand the story, however reading it will give you a good start to understand the context.
Chapter 1: The Bet
Chapter 2: Transit
Chapter 4: Cover Up
Chapter 5: Stage Fright
Chapter 6: Escort I
As an official delegate of the Kage Summit, Sarada was entitled to her own modest hotel room. The layout was quite similar to her own room. Wherein once you open the door, you would immediately see the double bed situated next to the floor length sliding window that led to the balcony. To the left of the door was a desk that faced the wall, and next to it was a cabinet.
Sarada sat at the desk with her back facing the window. A steaming cup of tea was next to her as she worked on her talking points for tomorrow's discussion—feeling as determined as ever to make sure she got her message across. It was important for the youth in attendance to understand the importance of Shinobi in this day and age.
Even if she was steeped in her work, she felt a familiar chakra signature present in her balcony. A slight smile crept up on her face.
Sarada didn't stop writing or look back. "I know you're there," she said. "No one else intrudes through my balcony."
The sliding window opened, and he walked in. Boruto was grinning proudly. "I gotta make use of my privileges, right?" He loved that he was the only one Sarada allowed to go into her room through her balcony. He pegged it as one of his privileges. The blond dove into Sarada's bed, stomach first. His face landed on her pillow, and he inhaled her scent.
The Uchiha smirked. She didn't realize he considered it a privilege that she allowed him to come through her balcony instead of the front door like a normal person.
"Stop smelling my pillow you creep," Sarada teased. She was still working, and her back was still turned to him.
Caught red handed. Boruto felt the heat rush to his face. "I-I am not!" He glared at the back of her head, willing it to burst into flames. Much to his dismay, it did not.
Sarada chuckled. She could feel him glare at her. If he could tease her, so could she.
Boruto harrumphed before he rolled off her bed and approached her. He placed an arm on the top of her head, and looked at what she was writing over her shoulder. Sarada didn't mind him. She was used to him being touchy whenever they were alone.
He read the first few lines and realized she was working. Again. He whined, "can you please stop being such a workaholic for once?" His arm slid down from her head to wrap in front of her neck and collar bone. He leaned in closer and rested his left cheek on her left shoulder. His lips were inches away from the base of her neck.
She could feel his breath, it sent shivers down her spine. She put her pen down and slowly pushed his face off her shoulder. "You're too close. I can smell what you had for lunch."
Boruto let her touch his cheek, but he didn't budge. Finally, he had her undivided attention. He grinned. "Come on, we should go out and look around!"
"No," she deadpanned.
Boruto shook her shoulders as he whined. "I'm so bored! Come oooon!"
She gave him 'the look.' It was the look she gave before she punched him into oblivion for being too annoying. He matched her hard gaze with his own. She was being a stick in the mud again. The lightning that crossed between their eyes was almost visible.
Sarada quickly weighed her options. Finally, she sighed and relented. "If you can wait thirty more minutes, I'll go. I just want to finish this."
Boruto scoffed. Fine. Choose work over me. He wasn't waiting that long, either. His voice was low, with a tinge of hurt in his tone. "Fine, go be boring." He let go of her shoulders and straightened up. Without another word, he walked back towards her balcony and jumped out into the night.
As soon as he jumped out of her balcony, Sarada looked back at the open window. Her could feel her chest tighten. A light breeze came in and brought some sand into her room. The curtains were swaying lightly with the wind. She stood up and walked over to the open window. Sarada stared into the cityscape, and longingly looked at the lights and stalls below. Slowly, she closed the window and looked back at her desk. She still had some work to do. The young Uchiha shook her head. This wasn't the time to be dilly dallying. She wasn't here on vacation. This was her first year attending the Kage Summit, and she had actual roles to complete. She couldn't let Naruto or her village down.
Still, the hurt in Boruto's voice and his sudden departure weighed heavily on her heart.
"Maybe I'll feel refreshed after a hot bath," she said to herself. With that, she took a towel out of the closet and walked into the bathroom, hoping to wash the tension away.
It was his first time in Sunagakure. Everything looked so different from his own boring village. The architecture was interesting, unique, and artistic. The curves and circular designs reminded him of Gaara's gourd. Boruto followed the string of lanterns hanging above him into the night market. As expected, it was filled with locals and tourists. There other Shinobi and delegates from the other villages were also looking around, taking advantage of their free time to enjoy what their host village had to offer. There were special deals and sales being held just for the timeframe of the summit.
His mother was right, the Kage summit did have a festive feel. A sense of excitement washed over him. Everything he saw was new, and something to explore. He would treat this a new adventure. As his blue eyes swept over the games, shops, and food stalls, he forced the thoughts of his teammate out of his mind and decided to have some fun.
It was nearly ten in the evening when Boruto had finished his shopping. He bought a few souvenirs for his little sister and mother. He also snagged a book for Mitsuki, and a scarf for Konohamaru. He took note to keep his eyes peeled for more things Mitsuki might like.
Before he left the night market, he remembered Sarada. Was she already asleep? Was she still working on her speech? What if she was hungry? He was sure he saw a stall selling some dango earlier. Boruto's body suddenly turned back into the night market and sought out the stall. He bought three sticks without even thinking. Before he realized it, both of his hands were full with shopping bags, and now a small paper bag filled with dango was added to the load he carried.
Boruto quickly went back to his lodging. All the hotels were booked during the summit. He was forced to stay at a small inn since he was a last minute addition to the Hokage's party. Boruto didn't mind. He certainly didn't want to stay with his dad in his suite. Besides, he was usually out all day. Boruto hid all of his shopping bags inside the closet, took the paper bag filled with dango, and set out for Sarada's hotel.
Sarada came out of the bathroom wearing shorts and an oversized light blue sweater. A towel was thrown over her head. She used the towel to rub at her long locks to dry it. The young Uchiha visibly tensed when she felt someone's chakra land on her balcony, but she relaxed as soon as she recognized the signature. She placed the towel back into the hang rack. Leisurely, she approached the window and slid it open.
Boruto was standing on her balcony with his back leaning against the railing. Her gaze fell on the small brown bag he was holding. He raised it and handed it to her.
"Here," he said. "I thought you might want a snack."
A small smile found its way on Sarada's lips. "Thank you," she took the bag and opened it. Her eyes lit up once she saw what he had brought her. "Oh, dango!" Unlike her father, Sarada loved sweets.
Boruto smiled smugly. He was pleased with himself for choosing the right snack. Although he was taken by surprise when she held out a stick for him to have.
"These are usually best when shared with someone," Sarada said.
Wordlessly, he took the dango and nodded. All of the tension that they had earlier was completely gone. They both gazed at Sunagakure's cityscape as they ate together in comfortable silence.
Finishing his dango quickly, he told her there was another stick in the bag. "You can have it."
She was already done with hers, too. Sarada pulled out the last stick and shook her head. "No, let's share it."
He felt heat rise to his cheeks, his blue eyes slightly growing wider. He couldn't help but stare at her. Her dark eyes reflected the night sky, making it look like the stars had been caught in her orbs. Slowly, his gaze lowered on her pink lips as she bit the first dumpling off. He watched her as she chewed.
Feeling self conscious, she pushed the dango stick to his face and looked away, hiding the blush staining her cheeks.
Boruto looked at the dango. Slowly, he held on to her hand holding the stick. Upon feeling the warmth of his hand on hers, Sarada whipped back to look at him. He was pulling her hand closer as he opened his mouth to take a bite from the dumpling. Sarada's breath hitched. Heat flooded from her chest, up to her whole face and right to the top of her ears as she watched his mouth bite the dumpling clean off the stick. He lifted his blue eyes and locked his gaze with hers as he chewed.
The sight of her soft lips slightly apart, cheeks flushed, and slightly damp hair was filling Boruto with a sensation he had never felt before. It was so foreign and unfamiliar. No one has ever made his heart beat this way, either. Heat blossomed from his core and butterflies filled his stomach as he was enveloped with a strong urge to pull her closer—an overwhelming need to have her near him. Boruto had never felt so much desire.
Slowly testing the waters, he pulled her closer. To his surprise, Sarada did not resist at all.
The logical thing to do was pull away. She knew this well but his ocean blue eyes were drawing her closer, closer. She had always thought his eyes were beautiful. Her heart was fluttering, unconsciously holding her breath. A warm feeling filled her whole body. Boruto never looked at her like this before. No one ever looked at her like this before. Their bodies were now touching, and she could feel his breath on her face. He was still holding on to her hand. She gripped the dango stick harder.
Slowly, Boruto leaned down closer to face. There were only inches of space left between them.
Loud, quick knocks came from Sarada's door. "Uchiha-san!"
Sarada quickly pulled her hand free, and they both jumped away from each other. They fixed their gazes on the floor. Their hearts were beating out of their chests, faces as red as tomatoes.
Sarada's heart was pounding so hard, she could hear her blood pulsing in her ears. What was that? She couldn't shake off the current that went through her system while he was holding on to her hand. The eye contact they had was so intense that she had lost herself for a moment. That proximity, though. Was Boruto going to—
The knocking was even louder now, breaking her away from her thoughts. "Uchiha-san! Urgent summons from the Hokage," the gruff voice said.
Boruto grimaced. He suddenly felt an explainable anger. Someone had disrupted them. Whoever was at the door, he swore he would make them regret it. He was upset that she had broken away from him so easily-so willingly. His blue eyes widened as light gasp escaped his lips. What am I thinking? Why was he so disturbed in the first place? And what was that? He felt like he wasn't in control of his own body earlier but damn everything just felt so natural. Having her body so close to him sent ripples of warmth and electricity throughout his system. What is this feeling?
She was staring at her feet, still standing in the balcony with him. Finally, she found enough of her voice to mumble, "I have to go," as she made her way back into the room.
Recovering from his raging thoughts be blurt out, "I'll go with you!" Boruto tried to come into her room but she blocked his way.
"No," she cut him, not letting him enter her room. "You should get some sleep. This is probably nothing." The hurt in her eyes betrayed the smile she offered. "Thank you for the dango. Good night, Boruto."
Sarada slid the window shut, leaving Boruto outside her balcony. She locked the window, and drew the curtains to a close.
Boruto was rooted to the ground. He stood outside her balcony for Kami knows how long. He was still trying to process what had happened, what were all of those sensations he felt, and what all of the images of her that lingered in his heart and mind meant to him. A myriad of emotions was rushing through his veins confusing him to no end.
He faced the cityscape and looked up to the stars, searching for clues.
There was only one reason he came up with. Boruto's blue eyes widened and his heart skipped upon the revelation that hit him. No way, it's impossible. He let out a short and strangled laugh. He shook his head and smirked at his own stupidity. He dispelled the thought out of his head and shrugged off the whole balcony ordeal. He jumped to the nearest roof and made his way back to his inn. The rush of the cool desert wind that hit his face made it easier for him to clear his mind. What nonsense.
There was no way he was in love with Sarada Uchiha.
A/N: Thank you so much for reading! This scene idea was what drove me to expand on ‘Perfect Balance.’ I thought it would be perfect to post this on Valentine’s Day, too.
I hope you liked it. Happy Valentine’s Day, fellow BoruSara shippers.

When Jess Dempsey and her family first purchased this home nearly a decade ago, an unsympathetic earlier renovation had all but eliminated the original Edwardian ambience. Jess was determined to restore the house to its intended grandeur, with a design that would see the family well into the future.
‘The original part of the home had so many stunning period features: arches over the fireplace and hallways, lead-light windows, high ceilings, ornate cornices, wide skirting and decorative plaster charm,’ Jess describes.
But not everything was admirably old. The laundry was mouldy and unusable, and the closed-plan layout was not kid-friendly or conducive to natural light. Together with interior architect and designer Cassandra Walker, Jess planned to remove the pre-existing renovation – which was completely unsympathetic to the original architecture – and opt instead for an open plan scheme for the rear of the house, combining kitchen, dining and living zones in one large space.
This re-organised layout, plus a second floor, freed up the front rooms of the house to be re-conceived as the adult’s wing. The main bedroom and corresponding ensuite, guest bedroom and study occupy the intact heritage rooms, while a second storey contains three smaller bedrooms and a rumpus room.
Archways were a key structural motif, acting as gestures to the home’s Edwardian heritage. ‘We were able to keep a few original arches, such as the hallway arch and its ornate detailing, and a lovely little holy water font,’ says Jess. ‘We also had ceiling roses and detail restored in the study that was previously falling off or cracked.’ To ensure these subtle, structural notes would carry character into the new home, Jess and Cassandra decided upon a clean, monochrome palette that would carry through uninterrupted from the period rooms at the front to the new rooms upstairs, and at the rear.
Solid features anchor the kitchen in the otherwise light and bright space. ‘I personally wanted a large, heavy and thick kitchen bench, I wanted it to have a presence,’ says Jess of her sleek stone island bench. This is complemented by a fitted Franke white granite sink and a Sussex Scala pull-out kitchen tap with a pin lever mixer, both from Reece. In the downstairs room, all the Scala tapware is a brushed gunmetal while upstairs they are chrome (‘This ensured our budget could be allocated appropriately,’ says Jess).
All these metallic elements work to lift the minimalist palette consisting of grey floorboards, stone benches and steel-framed windows in the communal zones, while weightier pieces such as the cast solid surface Kado Lussi bath and twin Milli Pure shower heads in brushed gunmetal add impact to the main ensuite.
‘I love the feeling of my home, the warmth, the love and the way the old meets the new in such a harmonious way,’ says Jess. An ambitious brief, tackled with poise and sophistication!
