"You’re the One I Adore" was the first DIY music video we made. This version of the track comes from our first DIY album, Beginning Kernels, like the version of "Ivan the Terrible Rides His One Trick Pony" that is featured in our most popular MV does. This music video was filmed in Fort Worth, Texas, BK’s favorite city in Texas, at the Fort Worth Water Gardens (yes, before Kendrick Lamar released his, so he must have been copying our idea 😜) where we were unable to walk down into the cascades due to rainy weather conditions (they close the cascades off on rainy, snowy, and icy days), Vaquero Coffee off the Sundance Square, which is owned by BK’s college classmate, Chris Crafte—an extraordinarily talented songwriter, performer, and artists who needs to publish some tunes—, and other parts of downtown Fort Worth. The music video stars BK’s younger brother, who’s favorite coffee shop was Vaquero Coffee at the time of shooting, BK’s soon to be sister-in-law, and BK.

BK returned to McFly’s Pub in Fort Worth last night for Tommy Luke’s Open Mic Night after a month of absence from performing. The first song was a little rough, but every thing after it sounded pretty good, especially given that he had not played a six-string guitar over that month off and had only played bass for two practices with the other band he is in during that same timeframe (more on the other band BK is in on another day).

Tommy Luke is seen playing the upright bass behind BK as well as walking across one of the shots of Kevin. All three of them, BK, Kevin Wayne Johnson, and Tommy Luke, are original singer-songwriters and unique in their own right. Kevin and Tommy Luke both play in the Texas Americana and Red Dirt scenes, which BK makes appearances in as well, but BK plays folk, alternative, and rock music and only has written one country song. Nonetheless, BK has a good time playing with his fellow North Texas musician friends and hearing their original music.

If you live in or near to Fort Worth, Texas, come out to a Tommy Luke’s Open Mic Night at McFly’s Pub on a Tuesday night. It starts at 7 PM every week. For Tommy Luke, it is a tradition that he hopes surpasses his own life, and come rain or shine, he says every week that the open mic will be going every Tuesday night no matter what.
