Tablet (card) weaving

Not a long ago I found an interesting post about tablet weaving and I decided to try it out, after all I'm generally interestid in all kind of arts and crafts things so I gave it a try.

But first I needed to make the equipment, luckily this technique doesn't need much. Just many (for me the first time 8) piece of square cards, 2 coloured threads and two paper clips of some sorts.

Because I like to complicate everything I designed a 3D model of the card and then printed it out with a 3d printer, instead of simply cutting it out of cardboard.

And now came the fun part, setting up the whole weaving, without any loom or anything profesional equipment (or knowledge).

As you see it needs a lot of space (not actually I just have tiny space) for even a small piece of work.

But after that I could finally start the actual weaving.

And after a suprisingly small amount of time later (maybe around 2 hours? Or 3) I finished it.

The fun thing is, that you can clearly see the logic behind this crazy spider web thing if you check the back side of it.

Its basically like organizing spirals together.

I need an assist. I have this dremel that I got from who knows where, and I think it's got a problem. I've looked through the manuals and of course there's no images at the angle I need to figure this out. This is a collet nut, and I have a feeling the silver part is a collet that has gotten busted off in there. Can someone confirm this for me, or explain wtf I am looking at and how to get a collet in there properly?? Actually, I used simple cotton yarns, which I got from a cheap crafts and hobbies shop. But I'm sure you can buy yarns from any paper stationery shop only for a little more money. I took a photo of the label of the thread, maybe it helps you to know what type to buy.

The needle I used has a big hole for the thick threads, and it is long, to make the weaving easier. Unfortunately, I cannot give you a professional description since I don't know the details. (And I'm still not an expert in this topic)

I hope I helped a little.

Here is my newest finished sewing/weaving/patching projekt.

This cloth had a quite big hole, so instead of just sewing it together I weaved some extra textil into it. This patching method gave the cloth some character, color and of course texture to it.

I used four cotton yarns, one turquoise and dark cyan blue, a pastel pink and brown.

I had a lot of fun making it, and I'm glad I don't have to throw out a nice fabric while practicing my hobby.
