DOOMs and Mediumship, as we are, naturally, a bridge to the other side

This text contains mostly my opinion about mediumship and how it works for us, all based on my own experience inside and outside my religion, so not everything needs to be taken into account since most of the content will be conclusions I have about these things, but I will also put theoretical content about it.

In Death Stranding this is the simplest explanation of DOOMs we have:

DOOMs is a condition granting individuals a greater connection to the other side. Those with DOOMS are called "sufferers" of the condition. DOOMs was spread throughout humanity by Amelie in an attempt to understand the chronic visions of extinction she has as an extinction entity. Not knowing which to trust, she shared them with those who would become DOOMS sufferers. From that point onward, Amelie's dreams of extinction became the nightmares commonly associated with DOOMS.

DOOMs is basically the perception that some individuals have of the "other side", which could be considered the plane of the dead, but is closely linked to extinction, to Amelie as an EE.

Here for us, mediumship plays a "similar" role, but calm down, it has nothing to do with our extinction… at least not yet.

Mediumship is the ability that every individual has to "communicate" with the spiritual plane. We are all mediums and have mediumship, but at different levels and we can all "evolve" our degree of mediumship, which would be our degree of perception of the subtle world. And you ask me, "Wait, are you talking about the plane of the dead, the plane of spirits or the subtle plane?" - well, it's all the same thing…

To give a simple example of how mediumship works for us, without going into the complexities of doctrines and religions that deal with it, let's use that scenario where we're going to a party full of people and drinks and then when we step into the place we immediately feel bad, as if the energy of that place is heavy and as if those people, all with drinks and talking loudly, are going to swallow you up. It messes with you and breaks you down. Well, I'm sorry to tell you, but you have mediumship. You've just picked up on all the negative energy surrounding alcohol and what it can attract. The same can happen when you come across a person and immediately feel that there is something wrong, or that this person seems to suck your energy. Yes, they may actually be doing this (consciously or not) and you're just reacting to it. This is the basic concept of mediumship.

Or when you look at a friend or family member and the two of you are silent, but you can still read that person, you can feel that they need a hug, they need to be warmed up, they need some kind of exchange and that it could make them better in some way. This is also mediumship.

When I say that mediums are or have a perception of the subtle plane, this doesn't just concern the dead or spirits.

159. Everyone who feels the influence of spirits, to whatever degree, is a medium. This faculty is inherent to man. That's why it's not a privilege and there are very few people who don't possess it in at least a rudimentary state. It can therefore be said that everyone is more or less a medium. Usually, however, this qualification only applies to those who possess a well-characterized mediumistic faculty, which translates into patent effects of a certain intensity, which depends on a more or less sensitive organization. It should also be noted that this faculty does not appear in everyone in the same way. Mediums generally have a special aptitude for this or that order of phenomena, which divides them into as many varieties as there are species of manifestations. The main ones are: physical effects mediums, sensitive or impressionable mediums, hearing mediums, talking mediums, clairvoyants, somnambulists, healers, peneumatographers, scribblers or psychographers.

There's a lot in the Spiritist Doctrine that makes me a little uncomfortable, but I've come to the conclusion that it's going to take a long time for incarnate humanity to understand all the complexity of the subtle planes, so for now it's only up to us to be able to understand these phenomena up to that point. We're still children.

Mediumship plays an even funnier role if we compare it to the fact that everyone will have a more developed skill within this field than another, let's just imagine it like a big RPG where our skill tree is gigantic but due to the class we choose we will be diverted to the paths that best fit what we can do.

In my religion there are what we call incorporation mediums, which I believe is the most common thing within it, of course there are other ways you can practice your mediumship, but I'm going to use incorporation mediumship to explain something "very cool"… oh, well… or at least it should be?

The mediumship of incorporation consists of the medium's ability to link energetically with a spiritual entity and then that entity uses the medium's body to carry out work on the plane of the living. So here we literally have a medium being a bridge between the spiritual plane and the carnal plane. And how does this coupling work? The spirit attaches itself to the medium through specific energy points (remember when we talked about Chakras?) and, roughly speaking, uses the medium as a "puppet". The medium in question needs to be well trained and prepared in every way, physically, emotionally and spiritually, because this coupling cannot fail.

You know that I didn't use that kind of purpose, since I'm trying to establish a comparison between DOOMs and Mediumship, and using the mediumship of incorporation here is literally opening up a parallel with DS2 where we'll have these people being controlled by strings that in my point of view will basically be linked to another plane of existence.

There is a vast amount of content about mediums and mediumship that covers various fields of research and study. This isn't just something from a religion or something supernatural that looks cool in a TV movie, it's seen in our daily lives and practiced by all of us without us even realizing it, but I'm not going to write any more, otherwise the text will never end.

In order to know the things of the visible world and discover the secrets of material nature, God has given man corporeal sight, senses and special instruments. With the telescope, he plunges his gaze into the depths of space and, with the microscope, he discovers the world of the infinitely small. In order to penetrate the invisible world, God has given you mediumship (KARDEC, Allan. The Gospel according to Spiritism, chapter XXVIII, it. 9).
