Rowena critiquing Charlie for seeing the brothers as family and giving them blind faith is so juicy. Rowena may not see the future but she knows well enough, with all of her talk of balance, that Charlie isn’t making it out of this. She said she read Charlie like a book the moment she met her, and what she saw was an unaware martyr.

Charlie tells Rowena she sees them like her brothers and that should be the warning signs for the audience. Anyone who has ever seen the brothers as family always gets caught in the crossfire. It reminds me of Adam because he was their biological brother, but at the end of the day, anyone can be collateral for Sam and Dean except Sam and Dean.

Rowena may be a master manipulator, but those are the skills that let her see the truth of Charlie. That she is doomed by the narrative just like all the others that came before.

The only irony of the situation is that Rowena herself will die for the Winchesters one day. That’s the way of supernatural, either die an antagonist or live long enough to see yourself become a Winchester martyr.

Rewatching Supernatural for My Mom's First Time Watching

Season 10, Episode 21: Dark Dynasty

My Mom: Nothing is gonna happen to Charlie, right?

Me: *With a straight face lying like a Winchester* No of course not.

*Charlie dies*

My Mom: *angrily throws a Snoopy plush at me*.

Me: *catches it* Whoa! Whoa hey now hold on!

My Mom: *picks up a shoe angrily yelling at me.*

Me: *life flashing before my eyes as episode 22 starts* Let me tell you something LET ME TELL YOU SOMETHING! Put the Chancla down! JESUS CHRIST!

It’s interesting that when Rowena met Charlie in season 10, she could read her pretty well and clocked all their similarities. She ended the exchange about Charlie loving Sam and Dean and feeling like a Winchester sibling with : ‘that steadfast loyalty will be your undoing my girl.’

I wonder if the writers already knew what would be Rowena undoing.

Probably since, as Mark Sheppard said, we all love Sam and Dean. And we’re interested in other characters on the show in part because they are our proxy; they love the Winchester in our place.

So it was inevitable that Rowena would end up exactly like Charlie. (Less plaid and longer hair but same difference)

These episodes feature two of our favorite SPN ladies…in drastically different ways. On the one hand, we get to see more of Claire in all her badass but vulnerable glory. And on the other, let’s just say we get pretty snarky about Charlie’s untimely and controversial ending. Rest in peace, queen. ⛳️

I'd been spoiled that Charlie dies, but God it was still tragic when it happened 😭

Why didn't Sam or Dean call Cas and get him to zap her out of there when she phoned and said she was in the motel?! He's a lot faster than driving!

Two episodes into my attempt to finish Supernatural and I see the infamous death of Charlie. Guess my instinct to quit was spot on.

Not only was it a dogshit episode overall but wtf was that death? Totally contrived, since maybe it’s just me but why the hell did Charlie go to the hotel??

And they didn’t even show us a cool fight, show Charlie go down swinging? She lost to some one-armed chump with major blood loss??

i think sam should've held his little secret "remove the mark" operation right under dean's nose in the bunker instead of in that distillery. i mean, sam having to come up with the most ridiculous reasons why dean can't go in the dungeon because he doesn't know rowena is chained up in there, dean getting hilariously paranoid because sam and cas are clearly sneaking around about something, charlie keeping sam's stress levels at 10000 because she feels so guilty about lying that she keeps almost spilling the beans (also since the bunker is safely guarded she doesn't get needlessly butchered), like i just feel like there's a lot of potential there and it would be hilarious to watch sam lose his mind as he's trying to get control of all this chaos to keep everything a secret AND watch dean lose his mind as he gets more and more confused about what the hell is going on
