Trying to remember random one off Star Trek characters to be villains for all of my tng Disney AUs and the only reoccurring character I dislike enough to make a villain is Dr. Palaski (not that I think she would be a villain per se but like antagonist at least) and she isn’t gonna work as Gaston or Ursula

I couldn't write this properly, but a thing I like to imagine about Dataforge is Data doing thousands upon thousands of pages of reading about how to romance and pleasure a cis dude.

Then he goes to Geordi, and bats his eyelashes, and explains with complete impassivity that he would like to experience sex with a man, and Geordi is the person he trusts most in the universe.

And I imagine that, initially, Geordi is shocked. But for some reason, he keeps striking out with women (because thirty minutes alone in a room with this dude, and you know he's in love with a guy already, even if HE doesn't know it), and he's human, and needs intimacy. And Data is so sweet, and so earnest, and so refreshingly frank.

And there is a lot of, "Iiiiiiii dunno about this, Data."

And Data, afterward, is like, "I regret that I cannot love you, because I am only an android. However, I can tell you that you are the most important person, to me, and that will not change."

And Geordi says, "that's what love is, Data. And there's nothing 'only' about being an android."

And then they fly off into the sunset together and adopt babies and dogs. Amen.

Honestly I feel like we don’t have enough queerplatonic ships on this site. We all need to value queerplatonic stuff more

Sadly I don’t have any queerplatonic House ships (though I both ship Taubner AND brotp Taubner) ((change my mind!))

But I DO have some queerplatonic ships. Shawn x Gus from Psych (Gus moves for Shawn! Clearly paralleled with the canon relationship! (I could also enjoy the right flavor of Shawngus in a non-queerplatonic way but they just SCREAM queerplatonic to me.) They’re best friends. They’re “weirdly” involved in each other’s lives. They’re queerplatonic partners your honor!

Dataforge. DATAFORGE. The OGs! Data is aroace (I will die on this hill) (also I’m not totally convinced Geordi isn’t aro spec ace spec or both) and the two of them are queerplatonic soulmates.

Look I know people love to ship Merthur so don’t eat me alive for this but. Queerplatonic Merthur.

Also I wonder if half the problem is that there’s no way I know of to denote a queerplatonic ship?

Rewatching some TNG, and I've got thoughts:

S4E18: Identity Crisis

I love the premise. Space mystery is a great starting spot.

And it's a Geordi episode! My man! And we get a friend from the past! Heck yes.

And the mystery thickens! Disappearances, torn uniforms, shuttle crashes. I love when TNG does horror/suspense eps, they're surprisingly good at it.

I remember how this one goes though, and I've already got Questions. Why can't Geordi see the frog guys? He's got shrimp vision.

And things look mysterious! Grim even! But they're gonna Do Science About It, and honestly that's something I love about Star Trek. Things might look hopeless and grim, but if we can just Understand What Is Happening, we can Make A Difference.

And Data's worried about Geordi! I didn't grow up a DataForge shipper, but dang if it don't fit. "Strongly motivated" indeed.

Also I love the creature effects in this one. The blue veins, the goofy lil hand paws, they work so well to show the transformation. The scene in sick bay gets top marks from me. Like I know it's a black light and some funky paint on latex, but dang it works really well.

Also shout out to the actors who did the holodeck simulations.

Nope, still got the same question. Why can't Geordi see the frog people? If they cast shadows, he should be able to see them. Yeah yeah, they generate a dampening field, but a person-shaped dampening field would still be weird as hell, right? Like the tricorder might not notice anything because it's as smart as we made it, but Geordi has a brain behind his shrimp vision. I know it's not the point of the episode, but it bothers me.

Also I forgot Nurse Ogawa is in this! She's great.

I do love how the technobabble solution to this episode is a black light.

Also another question. They said there's no life signs on the planet, so why is it filled with frog noises? Y'all expect me to believe the wind is making frog sounds?

Also I love these kinds of episodes. Both because we get to see lots of good character moments, but also because it's one of those Space Is Just Like That episodes, where Things Go Awry because Space Is Dangerous. It's so easy to get bogged down in our day to day and forget how weird our planet is, let alone space.
