I JUST GOT BLOCKED ON AO3 FOR THE FIRST TIME (that I actively know of) AND IT'S THE WEIRDEST FUCKING REASON I CAN POSSIBLY IMAGINE???

Someone left this on a Jungle Book fanfiction from 2014 that is also tagged for The Lion King due to some minor crossover happening within the fic. So, truthfully, I replied that no, I don't write TLK fics, because this is primarily a Jungle Book fic.

I've never been called a "fandom deserter". Also how I can I desert a fandom that I have never been an active part of.

And who does that. Who digs up fics from nearly a decade ago, to comment in them to ask if the author writes for this fandom and then call them names and block them immediately?

What. What.

Ngl, I always expected the block button to be used against me. I write a lot of unpopular stuff. I also expected to be made aware of being blocked at some point, like antis in my comment section who only block me after telling me how morally wrong I am for the fiction I write.

But I never expected to be blocked for not writing Lion King fanfiction.

That was not on my 2023 bingo. At all.

ohhh this is a fun one HAHA. i think my go-to writing style elements are: dialog heavy, internal monolog heavy, a lot of explanation about feelings and past happenings, SPARSE NARRATIVE DESCRIPTION LOL (i suck at it), and a shithead sense of humor. plus, if the fic is titled in all lowercase.

ive had people from past fandoms come across my newer fics without knowing it was me yet and they said they totally recognized my writing style. while i cant describe what exactly makes my style mine, it seems it's rather obvious to others and people would have no trouble guessing

for growing pains, one of my all time favorite fics ive ever written, the scene that took me the longest was this short snippet (short enough that it fits in one screencap omg) of giann after he finds marius in the basement

and the reason why it took me the longest wasnt because it was hard, no no. it took me the longest because first i wrote the scene, then i deleted LARGE CHUNKS OF IT.

this scene originally had wayyyy more going on in it. stuff like the bullies' reactions, giann and austin riding with marius in the ambulance, giann waiting by marius' bedside during his recovery, etc. but then i thought no no. no this scene doesnt need to have all that. what it needs to be is striking and dreadful, so i kept removing details until i got what you see now: just this short, horrible, full-of-fear snapshot. theres no reactions from people who dont matter, no and-then-after-that-here's-what-happened, theres just. giann holding his brother, begging for him to hold on

I wondered if Cassis would make a fuss, like during our first meeting, but he didn’t. He just stared at me with a terrifyingly cold look.

His reaction made it clear to me that Cassis had known my identity even before I visited him today. Was it Charlotte that told him?

She probably ran her mouth and let slip my name when she had entered to attack him. Not that it matters… It’s not like I was going to hide it from him; he would’ve found out anyway.

It was clear that Cassis hadn’t fully trusted me yet. Nevertheless, I moved forward to get a better look at his face.

In turn, Cassis questioned me. “What’s your relationship with Lanche Agriche?”

“He’s my biological father.”

My absence must have prevented him from verifying my identity sooner. Still, I wished he were a little more grateful- more… clingy- after my being gone. Early days, I suppose.

 However, he knew I wasn’t benevolent, or a secret philanthropist at heart- I wasn’t helping him for free.

“What’s your reason for approaching me anonymously?”

“If I revealed my identity too soon, you would’ve been more on your guard. As for why I’m helping you… well, I told you that already. I don’t want you to die here.”

Cassis laughed coldly at my words.

“So instead of killing me, you’re going to make me your toy?”

Oh great. Of course Charlotte had let the cat out of the bag.

Regardless, from now on, Cassis’ treatment was going to change, so I suppose I would’ve had to let him know eventually- despite how embarrassing it was to explain it to him.

“Isn’t that better than being tortured and dying here?” Was I too straightforward?

“This is the only way to get out of the basement. I’m your only way to escape Agriche safely.”

“Are you telling me to trust Lanche Agriche’s daughter?” Despite his indignation, Cassis seemed to mull over my words carefully.

I wished I knew what he was thinking, but unfortunately, his face was so difficult to read that I couldn’t grasp or guess a single thing going through his mind.

“I don’t believe you.” Cassis opened his mouth, looking at me with expressionless eyes. “Though I do find it strange that you’re not lying.”  

“Cassis Pedelian,” I said, holding my gaze. “I will protect you.”

His expression became strange. “Until you escape this place, I’ll protect you.” After all, succeeding meant escaping my unfortunate death.

Cassis Pedelian and Roxana Agriche- the names of two people who had now become entwined in history.

The first chapter of our story was just beginning.

Unsurprisingly, Father didn’t let Cassis leave the dungeon quietly. He had his officers drag Cassis out and kneel in humiliation at his feet.

I quietly observed the two men glaring at each other. Cassis had his limbs bound and mouth gagged, his entire body forced to take a submissive position on the floor.

However, his eyes were not those of a defeated man- there was no one who could watch such a scene and think he were a prisoner. His eyes were overflowing with intensity- hatred, determination, and an electric desire to live.

A deep smile appeared on Father’s face, and his feet suddenly struck Cassis’ chest. My chest tightened. Even now, Father can’t stop collecting death flags. Father then kicked in Cassis’ face; I turned away, unable to watch.

I said I would protect him, so I was now slightly embarrassed at his current state. Not that I could help it- Cassis’ ownership hadn’t fully been transferred to me.

“Those disgusting eyes of yours…!” Lache continued kicking Cassis. “… Exactly like that bastard, Richard Pedelian!”

Cassis now had blood leaking from his side and forehead, with his cheek pinned to the floor by Father’s heel.

“I would’ve kidnapped both shithead children, but I thought you’d last longer than the girl.” My dear father seemed to gain considerable pleasure from stepping on my poor toy.

“Roxana.”

“Yes, Father?”

Father placed the sole of his foot on Cassis’ cheek and beckoned me over. I obeyed quietly, standing still beside them. Cassis’ hot gaze slid over toward me.

Hey, just because I’m in this position right now doesn’t mean I’m really on my father’s side… That look you’re giving me is a little…

But honestly, if I were Cassis, Lanche and I would look like the same villainous person. I sighed softly; this was just an attitude I would have to deal with for a while.

What a father! He never cared about his children’s birthdays in the slightest.

1. The cringe of using crap fake names for both Felicity and Olicity, in a comment on AO3, is... absolutely the level of childish behavior I’d expect from someone who can’t just scroll past fics about ships they dislike but have to click on them and leave shitty comments on them to let the author know how Very Very Upsetty they are that the Bad Bad Ship uwu exists. Makes me feel like I’m interacting with a toddler, so I’ll try to use simple words, kay kiddo?

2. Felicity is literally a comic book character. To act like the character of Felicity Smoak herself has no business in the DCU (Comics) tag just shows that you don’t know shit about the comics. She’s been around for a while, in different forms (as Ronnie Raymond’s stepmother, as a Batgirl in Bombshells), but specifically thanks to the New 52 we know Felicity Smoak exists in the main timeline in current continuity.

{ I’ll answer your question in one simple word dear anony, M A S O C H I S T.

Koui is, and always has been, a huge masochist from the very start of his creation pretty much. Even in his previous version from OnS he was a masochist, of course not as a thirteen year old but in his verse where he’s an adult, and even then he was still interested in the concept of pain when he was young. Though he more was interested in it in the sense of how pain often times made people stronger. As an adult, Koui finds pleasure in pain and will more often than not seek out people who will give him said pain that he can wholeheartedly enjoy, like his client Raphael Gwyneth for instance. That guy is a complete asshole and actively enjoys hurting Koui and he knows Koui enjoys being hurt by him in turn so it’s a win-win situation there.

Now the reason why he wanted Crystal to hurt him is also very simple, it’s because he loves her and what greater pleasure can you get than from your lover? Or at least that’s how he sees it anyway. Please keep in mind that Koui’s mentality is all twisted up and corrupted due to his past so while it may not seem reasonable to you... it is to him. Of course he won’t ask for it all the time from his lover cause he knows most of the time your lover does not enjoy physically hurting you (unless they’re a sadist or they’re an abusive shithead), but he will on rare occasion. This is actually something that turns most people away from Koui as a whole (and by people I mean muns and muses alike) because they find it either “strange” or “gross”. Believe it or not, but I’ve also actively had people tell me that it’s “unnatural for a man to want to bend to the will of a woman, especially for pain” or “men shouldn’t be masochists because it’s gross and that means they’re in the female’s position”. In my opinion, that’s just utter bullshit because I know a lot of men who are masochists for the women in their life (romantically of course) and they’re still in the supposed “male position”, whatever that’s supposed to mean.

And as for your question about it hurting, of course it would. That’s the whole point. Masochists desire pain to receive pleasure (it has to be done a certain way though because masochists don’t just enjoy any kind of pain so keep that in mind) and that pleasure with that specific method is what they crave usually (not always since it depends on the person so please don’t quote me on that). Now in Koui’s case, because he’s mentally damaged from years of abuse, he DOES crave any kind of physical pain — be it normal physical pain or sexual pain — and the only actual pain he dislikes is mental/emotional pain caused by someone’s words/insults or actions (like cheating or jerking him around by his feelings) because this is what was mainly used to break him down little by little mentally. Anything else that involves pain? That’s all fair gain. }

Blog Post: The Weekend

More trivial things about my relationship life. I am very ill, bear with my rambling.

It’s Monday, I think. Or, I know that now. I haven’t the slightest idea what planet I woke up on today, but I do know I still feel hellish and I want to go back to bed.

I was sick most of this weekend, but I had the work fam over for St. Patrick’s Day. They pregamed; I made tea. They insisted we go out… No one wanted to listen to the predominantly Irish kid (me) advising them it would be a shit show to go out at midnight in NYC on St. Patrick’s Day, but we went anyway. Aside from my personal space being assaulted the entire evening, my inability to breathe out of my nose, and zero desire to be out, I did have fun… ish. Well, to the best of my ability to enjoy a night of drinking with a fever.

I had an entire conversation about my relationship with the girl I had…have a hella crush on, while the male part of my courtship was standing/dancing right next to us. That was interesting. We all worked together; I left, but they are still together. She asked me about he and I, and I fessed up that we had been doing this since July. She was excited to know her suspicions were correct, but asked why I had made a pass at her (she made it at me, but drunk her did not remember such). I informed her that I like her, and my male counterpart is none too good for commitment. I did not know where I stood with him (still don’t), and I was exploring to find something with potential. I had anticipated attempting something with her, but neither of us had ever made mention of the events of that evening, so I figured she wasn’t into it. I also realized, after attempting to see someone else for the most minute amount of time, that I love with this man. I am dumb, I know. Seven months is a lot of time to give someone who won’t admit whether he wants a relationship, and kind of ignores every mention of my wondering what the fuck I am to him. Regardless, she affirmed that he is a good man: intelligent, creative, and great to be around. We got back to dancing (me, more or less swaying because I felt absolutely heinous), before the four of us decided to call it a night.

I am spilling my heart out to you, dear Tumblr followers, for reasons unbeknownst to me. I think the anonymity of Tumblr gives me the confidence to be public, without being public. This is my online diary, where I can get feedback, and take it with a grain of salt if I need. I suppose it’s the possibility of validation, or perhaps just the mechanism of writing things down that makes me think a little more. I believe that confessing things to Tumblr is more justifying than writing them in my personal diary. I am sorry for the interjection, I felt the need for the disclaimer as to why because my shithead ex always used to harass me about this. Of course, I never need to justify why I do things, but sometimes, it helps.

As time has gone on, this man I have been seeing has improved markedly. I may not get the verbal validation, nor total social validation, but I trust him. I keep him aware of what I am thinking, and feeling, and he continues to see me. Therefore, I don’t think there is an issue with our “togetherness”. He has allegedly confessed to our coworkers that we have been seeing each other* (*that we have ‘hooked up’, not entirely sure if the length of time was discussed, or if it had been anything more than that). He is no longer afraid to PDA me (I’m making that a verb), he always waits for me, helps me out, arm around me. I’m painfully white, but that does not deter him from dancing with me. He is sweet, supportive, playful, and patient. He is protective, if not the slightest bit jealous, but will never say so. He is more and more comfortable with me, and I appreciate all the time he gives me. He spent Friday night, and all day Saturday with me, which is rare for him. It was a day of lame movies, and endless cuddling, which he said was his favorite part. I think I’m really growing on him, finally.

I believe that waiting is the right thing to do. He keeps getting better, and has done nothing to hurt me. He fulfills what few needs I have, and makes me really happy. That’s what truly matters, right?
