I have not been as consistent with updates as I wanted to be 😭 anyways

Sinead has been doing well and making friends! Her feet are still an issue - I can pick up and clean her fronts but she’s struggling with holding up her hinds because she’s super unbalanced. She’s very much on the forehand (I think? Now that I’m reading this back I’ve confused myself - point is, her balance is worse in the back) and wants to go everywhere with her nose in the air. When I actually hold a hind off the ground, her butt leans to that side and she loses her balance :( even when I move her tail to the side she sways.

Makes sense though - she’s almost 6 and has been mostly unhandled up until a month ago. She didn’t even know how to back up when I got her. Just have to keep working at it I suppose

It'd be funny if Fiona passes the time by underlining and circling different plot elements of fairytales that she likes and wishes into existence for her own life from the books she has in her tower. It almost reminds me of actresses receiving scripts and marking the parts they do and don't like for further revisions while they're in production for a film. I should keep a running list of all the things Fiona actively hates and what she'd love. It goes without saying that she's fanatic about anything revolving around validation, beauty, true love, the kiss of true love, and the sense of an everlasting nature- whether that be in beauty, romance, love.

Ok so: I have a big to catch you guys up on. I was able to get the mare to me a couple weeks earlier than I’d thought 😅 her name is Sinead! And we have a lot of work to do.

She is a very smart and sensitive girl. Like incredibly smart, she picks things up quickly. I have to be very intentional with her - everything is a whisper. I have to be careful that I don’t accidentally teach her bad habits.

She’s got a great brain and I’ve only seen her spook once. She’s mostly just observant. The other horses will get excited and run but she will just look at them like “what’s wrong with you guys?”

The first big thing was getting her haltered and leading solidly, the next is getting her prepared for the farrier and her feet are atrocious. I can smell that they are thrushy and just wicked long. I have a rasp to file some of the sharper edges off when she’ll let me.

I’m super pleased with her overall, I think she’s going to be a really great little mare. And thank you all for your kind words when I announced I got her!
