the opening vocalizations in the Maasi Theme are almost (if not the) same vocalizations used in the instrumental bridge portion of Aararaari Raaro btw. in case you needed sh*t to hurt more than it already did
#film: jawan#jawan#shah rukh khan#srk#vijay sethupathi#nayanthara#sanya malhotra#priyamani#deepika padukone#bollywood#local gay watches Bollywood.txt#local gay watches Jawan (and spends the entire time filing the various SRK avatars into new DILF categories).txt#that and i think i've figured out the main leitmotifs in the soundtrack which uh. adds significantly more damage to what#has already been added bc see Azad's motifs are Aararaari Raaro and the Jawan title theme. we hear the AR motif twice before the#actual song is played (once when he's telling Narmada he wants her to know about how he grew up and once after the health#minister kidnapping when he's on the desk feet up hearing of all the equipment being delivered to the hospitals)#so that establishes a thread of sorts to his mother before we even see her#while the Jawan title theme has some elements of the Maasi Theme which then leads us to Vikram who also has two#motifs (Maasi and his rock theme that he listens to in his earbuds)#Kalee's theme is an inverted(?)/heavily influenced version of the Maasi Theme that Vikram has. it's his and then it isn't it feels wrong#somehow when you hear it—i think we might have had a brief Maasi Theme feature during the train arc with Azad just to#trick the audience into thinking it WAS Vikram but i'll have to rewind to make sure#also whenever the focus is on Azad's parents Faraatta plays in the background. whenever the focus is on his dynamic with Suji#and Narmada Chaleya plays in the background#the Girls' motif is obvious (Mis Chicas) and plays twice (once during the first half for their train introduction and once during#the second half for their somewhere on vacation introduction)#while Kalki and Eeram have their own eponymous themes. Eeram's might also have played after Aishwarya got arrested but again#don't quote me on that it'll need another rewatch#i know these tags are making zero sense but if you get it you get it you don't you don't that's all

My honest review and opinion on kalki 2898 AD movie;
I just watched the movie today and I do have a few opinions about this movie..
So, first of all, I'm ngl but i really love Amitabh bacchan sir's acting, He , as always was brilliant! Like he is above 80 but the way he carried himself as the role of aswatthama was brilliant!
I did love Kamal Hassan sir's acting even though his screen time was less, the makeup for me was kinda brilliant, and he's a phenomenal actor.
Deepika Padukone in her mother era! She's such a beauty! Like man how the hell is she so beautiful, like wow! Mother is mothering for me!
Saswata chatterjee sir, fellow bong, you were amazing even though I kinda didn't like the comedic thing that they added to Manas's character, but trust me, he was brilliant like always! But My parents did love the comedic thing tbh!
Okay, so Prabash, compared to Adipurush, here his acting and expressions did improve a lot for which he does deserve applause. But honestly, I didn't really like the character of Bhairava, honestly for me the comedic timings were really unnecessary. I mean, making him a tad bit serious would've done it tbh. His acting at some places was kinda stiff , but compared to Adipurush, it was great but still not at the Bahubali level.
Now regarding the movie in general:
The first half before the interval was confusing. I'm ngl but it took me some time to understand certain places and the comedy wasn't really necessary at certain places.
The second half does really picks up the pace , like the second half compared to the first was really better tbh.
I loved the part where they tried to bring every religion together and wanted to convey that every religion is similar to eachother was amazing!!!
Now mythology wise, being a mythology fan and a history nerd,
I hated how they made Arjuna look arrogant, like guys, Arjuna is described as a brilliant warrior, strategist with the kindest heart during that eta. It is often said, that arjuna was considered to be the most humane out of them all. And making him arrogant was not that great according to me.
And bringing karna there was totally unnecessary! His character was not needed! It was not all needed to bring karna back and give him a re-birth.
Aswatthama part I can understand, considering he was cursed to have immortality but still
I feel like they could've brought arjuna back tbh, because it is said that Krishna and Arjuna are parts of the same soul, so it would've done them good if they brought arjuna back to make him as Kalki's guide and friend instead!
And c'mon, the fact that they tried to portray that arjuna only won because of having gandiva, Krishna and Hanuman on his side is wrong. Like he was the greatest warrior of his generation, give him the credit! The respect that he deserves for his prowess!
And giving Gandiva to Kali?! Like if they wanted to add a celestial weapon, they could've added Sharanga, the bow of vishnu instead. Gandiva is not even related to Vishnu or his avatars . And it is said that only arjuna, Krishna and bhima could've lifted the bow, so how can kali lift it? I feel like they wanted to portray that , what would happen if a great power falls into the hands of the evil, but then use Sharanga bow instead of gandiva.
Nag Ashwin sir, even though I really like the action scenes, I feel like, it needs a bit more research on the mythological context.
This is my personal opinion so please respect it!

ramasha do you have any bollywood movie recs?? 🎤
omgggg em im so honored you thought of me!! 🫶🏼🩷
tbh i've sorta been on a journey of watching more bollywood (and south asian cinema in general), since there was a huge chunk of my life where i just never really kept up with releases and was sorta discouraged from watching it so my taste isn't the Most diverse (in terms of genres and years) but i'm working on it 😭 that said, here's my attempt at giving you a lot of different options, so hopefully there's something here that strikes your fancy hehe :3
lots will be under the cut bc im a huge YAPPER.... sorry. also, some of these haven't really aged that well and are sometimes more of just a nostalgic fav and/or ones i think are iconic so... take some of these recs with a grain of salt
some of my bigger personal faves:
om shanti om (2007) — it may hit more if you have a bit more exposure to bollywood cinema and its industry bc it references it a lot, but i still think it's an enjoyable movie regardless! (yes i am biased bc this is one of my fav bollywood movies ever + a huge nostalgic fav. plus SRK and deepika padukone.. can't go wrong there!)
haider (2014) — this movie is SOOOO good! i highly rec it 💞 it's an adaptation of hamlet, set within the backdrop of the 1995 kashmir conflicts. this is actually a part of trilogy of shakespeare adaptations by the director: the other two are maqbool (2003) which is macbeth and omkara (2006) which is othello
main hoon na (2004) — another SRK nostalgic fav
ghajini (2008) — it rips off christopher nolan's memento but i think it adds a lot of its own stuff too and i have a soft spot for it 😭
andhadhun (2018)
kahaani (2012)
tumbbad (2018)
amar singh chamkila (2024)
3 idiots (2009) — the most likely one that non regular bollywood watchers will know and deservedly so imo
gully boy (2019)
hum saath saath hain (1999) — okay not objectively the best movie.. but its a hugely nostalgic and comfort movie for me and i think its great if you wanna watch something that's heartfelt and doesn't have a ton of high stakes conflict
maine pyar kiya (1989) — same as above ☝🏼 i watched this one a lot as a kid
jab we met (2007)
devdas (2002) — worth it for at least the beautiful cinematography, costumes, and gorgeous talented cast
fanaa (2006) — plot is kinda messy at times but it was a real angst machine for me as a kid 😭
photograph (2019)
sir (2018)
bulbbul (2020) — tw for a rape scene though. sorry for the spoiler but it was genuinely really harrowing for me to watch so i think its important to mention
misc other movies i've seen:
qala (2022)
dil bole hadippa! (2009) — admittedly, i haven't rewatched this one in a long time so i can't totally say it holds up. it's a rip-off of she's the man, but … better….. TO ME. yes im speaking from nostalgia bc this is the one i saw first
badhaai do (2022) — this is technically a 'sequel' to the similarly titled movie badhaai ho (2018) but they're actually total standalones
gangubai kathiawadi (2022) — i have such mixed feelings about this one but it's a movie that really stuck with me ever since i watched it soooo yeah
raees (2017) — SRK looks unbelievably fine in that movie. need i say more?
koi mil gaya (2003) — it's a mix of both ET and close encounters of the third kind... but in my very biased, nostalgic opinion: better 🫣 there's also a few sequels, but i only really remember seeing krrish (2006)
josh (2000) — another entry to the SRK looks super gorgeous in this movie 😭 this is basically a desi west side story
go goa gone (2013) — not the best to me, but its a bollywood zombie movie! which was a very new concept to me in that industry so ofc i had to throw it in there
chennai express (2013)
mohabbatein (2000)
dilwale dulhania le jayenge (1995) — had to include this for SRK reasons and also bc it's a massively impactful movie in the industry so i'd be remiss not to
andaz apna apna (1994)
ek ladki ko dekha toh aisa laga (2019)
jaane tu.. ya jaane na (2008)
aaja nachle (2007)
munna bhai mbbs (2003)
gangs of wasseypur - part 1 (2012) — i've only seen the first one in this series but if you want a somewhat slower, meditative, gangster movie this one def fits the bill
what's your raashee? (2009) — can't remember how well this ages (i think it was pretty mid?) but the concept is fun! priyanka chopra plays 12 girls: each personifying a different zodiac sign as the main guy tries to find his soulmate 😭
taare zameen par (2007) — you'll also see this listed as 'like stars on earth' sometimes
amar akbar anthony (1977)
don (2006) — villainous SRK? sign me up! he actually has multiple movies where he's this sorta antihero/"antivillain" type character. and even a few where he's a straight-up villain. i've been trying to get through all of those bc i just love his range
anjaam (1993) — an example of the aforementioned thing ☝🏼 SRK plays a genuinely terrible guy here, and i love how it actually challenges a lot of the tropes that bollywood tends to use in its romances and shows how creepy and stalkerish they actually are (despite it being typically framed in the narrative otherwise)
partner (2007) — i recently found out it was basically ripping will smith's hitch 😭 i haven't seen that one so i can't say which is better, but if you enjoyed that one, you'll probably be into this one too. it's very unserious and not the Best. but i watched it a lot as a kid
aaja nachle (2007)
roadside romeo (2008) — okay this is a very unserious, low budget animated movie rec. it's soooo so silly and dumb but if you're in the market for smth like that, this is an amusing one for that
welcome (2007) — i gotta rewatch this one bc i don't remember a lot but it seems like a lot of tomfoolery and shenanigans
my name is khan (2010) — another one i gotta rewatch for its politics but i figured i'd throw it in regardless
black (2005)
kal ho naa ho (2003)
kuch kuch hota hai (1998)
sholay (1975)
hungama (2003)
some from my watchlist that i haven't seen yet:
(as if this list needed to be any longer.... but anyways! including these bc i think they seem promising/interesting and i think they introduce More variety of genres/time periods than the ones before)
ijaazat (1987)
thappad (2020)
udaan (2010)
merry christmas (2024)
chhoti si baat (1976)
hindi medium (2017)
the lunchbox (2013) — heard LOTS of good things about this one!
lipstick under my burkha (2017)
neerja (2016)
queen (2014)
rajnigandha (1974)
kaagaz ke phool (1959)
anand (1971)
paheli (2005) — it's a mainstream bollywood remake of duvidha (1973)

monica, o my darling (2022)
madhumati (1958)
raaz (2002)
satya (1998)

mahal (1949)
chandigarh kare aashiqui (2021)
bunty aur babli (2005)
talvar (2015)
duplicate (1998)
lootera (2013)
mughal-e-azam (1960)
baazigar (1993)
trapped (2017)
fire (1996) — a hugely significant movie in explicitly showing a wlw relationship in bollywood. i believe it was the first in that regard?
stree (2018)
piku (2015)
english vinglish (2012)
umrao jaan (2006) — there's also an earlier version of this movie with the same title that came out in 1981! i haven't seen either yet so i can't say which is better
jodhaa akbar (2008)
darr (1993) — big movie for villain SRK enthusiasts if that interests you too like it does me 🤭

𝐏𝐎𝐂 𝐅𝐂𝐬 𝐑𝐄𝐒𝐎𝐔𝐑𝐂𝐄𝐒.
hello! just putting together a little resource which is by no means comprehensive, but can be used as a quick reference for some poc fcs with good resources and links to some of their gif hunts. though i’m not an rph, i had made this list already for personal reference and wanted to share in case it brought anyone else inspo. i know there are probably a few of these posts already, but i think the more ways to get people looking at poc fcs, the better! there are so many good poc fcs out there, that it’s a shame we don’t see them more, especially when some have a shocking amount of resources. some of these fcs are already popular, but i figured i’d add them in anyway, though i did try to list out more fcs i don’t see as often.
i tried to include 2-3 good hunts per fc (most were found using this site/link since tumblr tags are a hot mess as usual) and i take no credit for any of the resources linked either. thank you to creators who’ve made such good gifs for these fcs and if you use their hunts, please like/reblog their posts and be mindful of any denoted triggers. hopefully this gives a wee boost to some more underused fcs as well.

Deepika Padukone as an Elf
This came to being after watching Rings of Power and not seeing any beautiful brown elves. And Deepika has this timeless beauty and grace making her fitting as an elf.
I mimicked the lighting they did for Galadriel in FotR, and added a bunch of highlights in her eyes.
Hopefully in RoP they'll add in more Elves of color.

Salaar Box Office Collection Day 7: Worldwide Crossed Rs 500 Crore!
Tumblr media
In a cinematic rollercoaster, Prabhas-starrer Salaar experienced a phenomenal start, raking in over Rs 90 crore on its first day. However, the seventh day witnessed a staggering 85% drop, with collections plummeting to Rs 13 crore. Let's delve into the highs and lows of Salaar's box office journey. Salaar Box Office Record: Prabhas’s Movie Makes History, Beats Shah Rukh Khan’s Jawan Salaar vs Dunki Box Office Battle: Salaar’s Massive Opening Day, Is Dunki Left in the Dust?
The Week in Review
Salaar Box Office Collection Day-wise Breakdown DayCollection (in Crores)190.7256.35362.05446.3524.9615.175.32 (estimated) Occupancy Insights Salaar experienced 21% occupancy in Telugu markets on the seventh day, its primary audience. Hyderabad witnessed a 24.75% occupancy rate with 638 shows. In the Hindi-speaking market, it faced stiff competition but maintained a 20.52% occupancy. Delhi-NCR and Mumbai regions recorded occupancies of 23.75% and 18.25%, respectively.
Global Box Office Collection
Salaar achieved a global milestone, crossing the Rs 500 crore mark on the seventh day. This places it among the elite films of the year, alongside releases like Pathaan, Jawan, Jailer, Leo, Gadar 2, and Animal. Notably, Salaar's global journey began with a robust Rs 175 crore on the first day, culminating in a total of Rs 325 crore for the week.
Prabhas's Resurgence
The film signifies a major comeback for Prabhas, who faced setbacks with Saaho, Radhe Shyam, and Adipurush. Salaar's success paves the way for his upcoming venture, Kalki 2898 AD, featuring Amitabh Bachchan and Deepika Padukone.
Behind the Scenes
Directorial Excellence Directed by Prashanth Neel, Salaar boasts a stellar cast, including Prithviraj Sukumaran, Sriya Reddy, Shruti Haasan, and Tinnu Anand. Anticipation surrounds the second part, Salaar Part 2 Shouryanga Parvam, for which a release date is awaited. https://www.instagram.com/reel/C0W4pEhPAWV/?utm_source=ig_web_copy_link&igsh=MjM0N2Q2NDBjYg== KGF Director's Legacy Prashanth Neel, renowned for directing the Yash-starrer KGF films, adds another feather to his cap with Salaar. The KGF franchise collectively earned nearly Rs 1500 crore in India.
Ceasefire Triumph
Salaar Part 1: Ceasefire, a parallel success, is estimated to surpass Rs 300 crore in India. The seventh-day collection alone is projected to exceed Rs 5.32 crore across languages. The film's global team proudly declared its triumph, surpassing the Rs 500 crore mark worldwide. SalaarCeaseFireHits500Crs resonated across social media, solidifying its global dominance.
Unraveling Salaar's Tale
Adapted from Prashanth's 2014 Kannada film Ugramm, Salaar delves into the story of childhood friends, exploring the transformation into foes. Starring Jagapathi Babu, Bobby Simha, Sriya Reddy, and others, the film weaves an intricate narrative.
The Second Weekend Saga
Amidst drops in the Telugu version, Salaar finds support in the Hindi-dubbed release. As it enters the second weekend, hopes are high for a resurgence, potentially overtaking Dunki’s second-weekend numbers. Salaar's box office saga is a testament to Prabhas's enduring star power and Prashanth Neel's directorial prowess. While facing challenges, Salaar's triumphs and setbacks make it a compelling chapter in Indian cinema. Is Salaar Prabhas's biggest hit? Salaar marks Prabhas's significant comeback but is not his highest-grossing film to date. When will Salaar Part 2 release? The release date for Salaar Part 2 Shouryanga Parvam is yet to be announced. How did Salaar perform internationally? Salaar achieved global success, crossing Rs 500 crore worldwide within a week. What is Salaar Part 1: Ceasefire's standout feature? Ceasefire is estimated to surpass Rs 300 crore in India, showcasing its substantial impact. Can Salaar recover in the second weekend? Salaar's acceptance in the Hindi belt may lead to a strong second weekend, potentially surpassing Dunki's numbers. Also Checkout. Read the full article

★ Salman Khan, Arijit Singh Unite for ‘Tiger 3’ Songs: ‘A Collaboration That Was Waiting to Happen’!
October 19, 2023
The talents of Bollywood megastar Salman Khan and leading singer Arijit Singh will finally be united in Yash Raj Films’ “Tiger 3.”
Singh has sung two numbers for the film. “Leke Prabhu Ka Naam,” a dance number featuring Salman and Katrina Kaif releases next week, while the second song is a romantic track.
India deploys a practice known as playback singing where singers render songs that actors lip-sync to on screen. Via this method, Singh has been the on-screen singing voice of most of Bollywood’s top male stars including Shah Rukh Khan, Ranbir Kapoor, Ranveer Singh and Shahid Kapoor among many others. He had yet to sing for Salman Khan, perhaps because of an alleged disagreement during an awards ceremony in 2014.
Since then Singh has expressed publicly that he wants “to retire with at least one song of you [Salman Khan] in my library” and that has now happened.
“Tiger 3” director Maneesh Sharma said: “We can’t wait for ‘Leke Prabhu Ka Naam’ to drop next week. It’s an out and out party track and having Arijit’s voice on top of Salman’s swag, is the cherry on top. Katrina’s ethereal beauty and the chemistry between the two makes it the perfect formula to have everyone dancing. We had a lot of fun filming in Cappadocia, Turkey, and this will be another huge dance chartbuster to add to the already enviable list of successes that Salman and Katrina have had together.”
Composer Pritam added: “It was a collaboration that was waiting to happen. Salman Khan is one of the biggest superstars and Arijit Singh, our generation’s top singing sensation. These two stalwarts coming together for a song was long overdue and we are thrilled that it is happening for ‘Tiger 3.’”
“Tiger 3” is the latest instalment in producer Aditya Chopra‘s spy universe that kicked off with the Tiger franchise, starring Salman Khan and Katrina Kaif, beginning with “Ek Tha Tiger” (2012) and “Tiger Zinda Hai” (2017) and continued with “War” (2019), starring Hrithik Roshan and Tiger Shroff. “Pathaan,” starring Shah Rukh Khan and Deepika Padukone, released in January and is the second biggest Indian hit of the year with $130 million. The four films have together grossed some $300 million.
In “Tiger 3,” Tiger is in peril after being framed as enemy number one and goes on a life-threatening mission to hunt down his enemies. Tiger wants to clear his name for his country, for his family and he won’t stop at anything.

Tumblr media
Read the article now: Let's Revisit Cannes, Please
The most stunning Film Extravaganza was recently hosted in Cannes, and you are no stranger to that. From Eva Longoria to Deepika Padukone, celebrities and artists from different national fraternities graced the red carpet. As gen-Zers would say, swept it and left no crumbs!
As the paparazzi captured every moment of this breathtaking event, I gawked at the variety of makeup looks and trends celebrities wore. Today I’m going to share my opinion on what the best looks are.
Deepika Padukone - Sultry & Traditional at Cannes
Tumblr media
My favourite look for Cannes 2022 (hands down) was worn by Deepika Pudone. Draped with a golden and black saree, her eye makeup was an attraction. Going for a simple shimmery blush and a black matte stroke over the eyes sealed the deal for her on the carpet. Her looks throughout the festival included Sarees, Louis Vuitton gowns and medium-sized skirts in the streets of Cannes. All of which were paired with minimalistic and subtle looks throughout.
Julia Roberts - Magical Bling in Cannes
Tumblr media
Julia Roberts’ pantsuit was the epitome of all things class has to be my second favourite. The ever-beautiful actor just went for a dignified chic look with a shimmer on the lips and a tad bit of magic around the cheekbones. Almost creating a no-makeup, makeup look all at once. Her hair was sleekly parted in the middle, with the curls harmonising and adding the bling quotient to her appearance.
Bella Hadid - Simple Beauty in Cannes
Tumblr media
Bella Hadid went for the classic winged eyeliner makeup look. The ultimate symbol of elegance and grace. Her signature contour stole the show as always, but what stood out for you this time was the twirled hair bit on her forehead. Gelled to perfection for her entire look.
Anne Hathaway - Head Turner in Cannes
Tumblr media
Anne Hathaway, the Princess bride, was the Belle of the Ball. It was probably the most effortless look I had spotted on the entire carpet. Her magical aura and the way she wears her smile automatically enhance her apples. The perfect impact on the audience. The auburn look compliments her simple half-clipped hairstyle, and the mascara application is refined in the best way possible.
Kat Graham - Trend Setting in Cannes
Tumblr media
Kat Graham is yet another one of my favourite celebrity looks this year. The royal red paired with pearls and a shiny lip all go together. The ombre eyeshadow mix between the orange and golden colour palettes is like a playful mix of shades that needs to be promoted more. It is highly recommended and eye-catching at the same time. I’ve got to try it!
Makeup in Cannes
Tumblr media
Kristen Stewarts' makeup team deserves their flowers this year! About her past looks, Stewart has always stood out of the crowd. She often takes up new ideas and stylistic challenges that aren’t necessarily popular. However, this time Kristen’s outfit complimented her dusky eyeshadow. The essential mascara coat adds to the simplicity of it all.
Some new makeup trends came to life at Cannes this year. For example, the similarity between blush and eyeshadows. They were frequently interchangeable this year during Cannes. Reviving the old-age delicate techniques made them a millennial trend. Fashion is eternal, and so is the fad. Will we see this again next year?

Cirkus (2022): Ranveer’s “Comedy Of Errors”
Tumblr media
Twins are two unique souls united by birth. But what if, two identical pairs of twin brothers give rise to a Comedy of Errors? That’s right! Because that’s what happens in Bollywood’s new release titled “Cirkus”. Adapted from William Shakespeare’s "Comedy of Errors", this comedy-drama has been co-produced and directed by Rohit Shetty. The film stars Ranveer Singh in a dual role. Now the question is, will the theaters showcasing “Cirkus” be filled with the same levels of excitement as in a real circus? Let’s find out! Cirkus (2022) Synopsis: This is the story of two pairs of identical orphaned twins who got separated at birth. One of the pairs of identical twins were both named "Roy" (Ranveer Singh in a dual role) and the other pair of identical twins were both named "Joy" (Varun Sharma in a dual role). These two pairs of identical twin brothers were in an orphanage run by Jamnadas (Murali Sharma). The identical twins got separated at birth in the most unusual manner. Jamnadas gave one Roy and Joy to a couple and another Roy and Joy to another couple. So now when they grow up, Roy 1 gets married to a girl named Mala (Pooja Hegde), and later finds out that they cannot conceive. Thus, Mala decided to adopt a child from the same orphanage where her husband Roy was separated from his twin brother. In another scene, Roy 2 is in love with a girl named Bindu (Jacqueline Fernandez). When Roy 2 and Joy 2 visit the same city where Roy 1 and Joy 1 lives, their lives intertwined and a comedy of errors ensued. Watch till the end to find out whether Roy 1 and Roy 2 will be able to save their respective love lives because a dire misunderstanding follows them. Bindu’s father, Rai Bahadur (Sanjay Mishra), had seen Roy 1 with Mala and has mistaken Roy 1 for his future son-in-law, who is actually Roy 2! Rai Bahadur thinks that his son-in-law Roy 2 is cheating on his daughter Bindu when actually the one he saw was Roy 2's identical twin brother Roy 1 with his wife! Cirkus (2022) Official Trailer: https://youtu.be/EkzD0d0yFdM The Good: Colorful Visuals Cirkus is laden with colorful visuals, thanks to the awesome cinematography by Jomon T. John. I was startled by the variety of colorful costumes worn by the actors. Cirkus is a historical comedy, and I must say that the colorful old-fashioned 1960s costumes of the actors did amplify the overall retro essence of the movie. Cirkus was shot extensively across locations in Indian cities like Mumbai and Ooty. As always, the breathtaking landscapes and scenic beauty of Ooty do add to the cinematic essence of any movie which is shot there. https://youtu.be/9BrrPm3_ksQ Electrifying Songs Check out the groovy tracks in Cirkus. The song “Current Laga Re” is absolutely high-voltage! In this track, Ranveer Singh can be seen dancing with his real-life wife Deepika Padukone who reprises her character from her 2013 film Chennai Express. Other tracks include “Sun Zara” and “Aashiqui” which are rhythmic enough to make you tap your feet to their beats. The choreography of these tracks is amazing and has been done by Ganesh Acharya. https://youtu.be/JJwllXK_CAc Aptly Edited Cirkus has been marvelously edited by Bunty Nagi. The scenes in the movie have been sequentially placed so as to minimize confusion in the humorous yet confusing story. Moreover, the editor has managed to keep the run duration to 2 hours and 20 minutes, and I have to agree to the fact that this is a considerable reduction of a massive plot whose original credits go to William Shakespeare himself. Satisfactory Performances I won’t say that the performances of the actors in Cirkus were great. In fact, the forced screenplay of Cirkus made their performances suffer. Still, the actors managed to carry out their respective roles satisfactorily. I am not talking about just any Bollywood actor here. I am referring to the shining star, the "dynamic entertainer" of Bollywood, Ranveer Singh! You must be aware of his incredible performances in historical epics like “Padmaavat” and “Bajirao Mastani”.  This is actually the tyrannous emperor "Alauddin Khilji" of "Padmaavat" who gave nightmares to the audiences! If you compare his performance in those movies with this one, you will agree with me that Ranveer Singh has experienced a considerable downsize in his acting career. Nowadays, he has become more used to playing comical cheeky roles rather than serious, action-oriented, and intriguing ones which he once used to. https://youtu.be/uHcziQcyOUc Varun Sharma who played the second identical twin pair has been seen in various comedy films since the last decade. He is used to playing supporting characters in films, maybe the hero’s friend or his brother. The reason filmmakers cast him is because he adds considerable humor to the script with his bizarre actions and chubby looks. The lead actresses in Cirkus, Pooja Hegde and Jacqueline Fernandez, performed averagely despite their gorgeous looks. I would say, Cirkus actually lives up to its name! I am saying this because this comedy-drama comprises tons of actors and if I start naming them all, the list may end up in another three or four pages! Actors in Cirkus include legendary Bollywood comedians like Johny Lever, Tiku Talsania, and Sanjay Mishra. Veteran actors like Murali Sharma and Uday Tikekar were also present in this movie. All the actors did carry out their respective characters to their full potential. However, certain shortcomings in the script and screenplay ruined their efforts and diminished the impact of their performances. In short, the actors aren't to be blamed for the failure of this film. Interesting Cameo Appearances Cirkus has special cameo appearances of Bollywood biggie Ajay Devgn in the climax, and actress Deepika Padukone in the song “Current Laga Re”. Deepika happens to be Ranveer Singh’s real-life wife. These two special cameo appearances added glamour to the screenplay; a screenplay that was indeed irritating! if you ask me, why so irritating? Then check out my opinion on that in the next section. Ranveer Singh and Deepika Padukone in the track "Current Laga Re" from Cirkus https://youtu.be/df3Id8Kuf-w The Bad: A Forced Screenplay The screenplay of Cirkus by Yunus Sajawal appears forced. I mean, a lot of unwanted comedy has been deliberately forced into the script. What the filmmakers don’t realize is that when you blend excessive unwanted comedy with a confusing plot, it can get direly irritating for the audience. So, this adaptive screenplay of Cirkus fails to live up to its promise of putting in healthy humor. Of course, comedy should be there. But putting in comedy where it is not required does spoil the show! Here, Shakespeare’s Comedy of Errors has been adapted to a script depicting a circus just to add to the humor. Upon becoming aware of the storyline, I feel that depicting a circus in this movie was absolutely unnecessary. Similarly, certain instances as well as characters in this movie have been forcefully added just to elongate the screenplay. In a scene, you will see Roy (Ranveer Singh) touching a live wire but he doesn't receive a shock. Instead of him, his identical twin brother staying somewhere else receives the shock. Such scenes do add humor, but if you ask me, I would say that these are completely illogical and absurd. However, there are some genuinely hilarious scenes in Cirkus like the one where the married Roy gets mistaken by his identical twin brother's would-be father-in-law, Rai Bahadur as a cheater. In fact, he was with his wife then. But as Rai Bahadur’s would-be son-in-law was Roy’s identical twin brother, also named Roy, the grievous misunderstanding happened. The scene was actually funny. Not So Pleasing Dialogues The dialogues in Cirkus co-written by Farhad Samji, Sanchit Bedre, and Vidhi Ghodgaonkar are not at all appealing. The dialogues are supposed to be comical but they fail to create an impact due to the way they have been written and delivered. On a serious note, you won’t find them pleasing at all. They are just there for the sake of it. https://youtu.be/9lCTfg8oLNU The Verdict: I think the main reason why Cirkus fails to appeal to the audience is because of its predictable and unoriginal plot. I say "predictable and unoriginal" as this movie is not only adapted from Shakespeare’s Comedy of Errors but is a remake of the 1982 comedy-drama "Angoor". And what’s more, Angoor itself was a remake of the 1968 film "Do Dooni Chaar". So Bollywood, for decades, has been formulating movies based on the same plot. I doubt if, in the next 10 or 15 years, we will again see Bollywood come out with yet another movie that will be based on the same plot. The film took two years to be completed owing to the COVID-19 lockdown and restrictions. It finally was able to release on December 23, 2022. To be honest, Rohit Shetty who happens to be a master action director in Bollywood has failed to create an impact this time. Shetty has directed some master blasters like Golmaal, Singham, and Simmba. But his direction in Cirkus is disappointing. I can’t blame him for this. When the raw material is bad, then the end product is sure to come out as bad! I mean, a mindless comedy can be healthy but if it is not backed up with some solid scriptwriting, matters do get worse! Cirkus does have a happy ending with all misunderstandings resolved. However, the climax leaves the audience wondering if there would be a sequel that may come up soon. The ending shows the cast of the Golmaal film series (The four iconic friends, if you have seen the Golmaal series you would know them) coming to stay at Jamnadas’ orphanage. So will we see a sequel that will integrate the Golmaal franchise with this movie? Both happen to be Rohit Shetty’s work. It may be possible! Who knows? As you can see, I have subtitled this review as “Ranveer’s Comedy of Errors”. You may wonder, why? The fact is that I believe, Ranveer Singh has done the biggest mistake in his career by transitioning himself to comical roles from serious action-oriented ones. And the truth is, we can see that for ourselves! One by one his movies are failing at the box office. His earlier comedy-drama “Jayeshbhai Jordaar” failed, and in a similar manner, “Cirkus” may suffer the same plight. I believe that Indian audiences are finding it real hard to accept him as a comical hero. But at the end of the day, I hope all goes well for this shining Bollywood star! Read the full article
