★ Salman Khan, Arijit Singh Unite for ‘Tiger 3’ Songs: ‘A Collaboration That Was Waiting to Happen’!
October 19, 2023
The talents of Bollywood megastar Salman Khan and leading singer Arijit Singh will finally be united in Yash Raj Films’ “Tiger 3.”
Singh has sung two numbers for the film. “Leke Prabhu Ka Naam,” a dance number featuring Salman and Katrina Kaif releases next week, while the second song is a romantic track.
India deploys a practice known as playback singing where singers render songs that actors lip-sync to on screen. Via this method, Singh has been the on-screen singing voice of most of Bollywood’s top male stars including Shah Rukh Khan, Ranbir Kapoor, Ranveer Singh and Shahid Kapoor among many others. He had yet to sing for Salman Khan, perhaps because of an alleged disagreement during an awards ceremony in 2014.
Since then Singh has expressed publicly that he wants “to retire with at least one song of you [Salman Khan] in my library” and that has now happened.
“Tiger 3” director Maneesh Sharma said: “We can’t wait for ‘Leke Prabhu Ka Naam’ to drop next week. It’s an out and out party track and having Arijit’s voice on top of Salman’s swag, is the cherry on top. Katrina’s ethereal beauty and the chemistry between the two makes it the perfect formula to have everyone dancing. We had a lot of fun filming in Cappadocia, Turkey, and this will be another huge dance chartbuster to add to the already enviable list of successes that Salman and Katrina have had together.”
Composer Pritam added: “It was a collaboration that was waiting to happen. Salman Khan is one of the biggest superstars and Arijit Singh, our generation’s top singing sensation. These two stalwarts coming together for a song was long overdue and we are thrilled that it is happening for ‘Tiger 3.’”
“Tiger 3” is the latest instalment in producer Aditya Chopra‘s spy universe that kicked off with the Tiger franchise, starring Salman Khan and Katrina Kaif, beginning with “Ek Tha Tiger” (2012) and “Tiger Zinda Hai” (2017) and continued with “War” (2019), starring Hrithik Roshan and Tiger Shroff. “Pathaan,” starring Shah Rukh Khan and Deepika Padukone, released in January and is the second biggest Indian hit of the year with $130 million. The four films have together grossed some $300 million.
In “Tiger 3,” Tiger is in peril after being framed as enemy number one and goes on a life-threatening mission to hunt down his enemies. Tiger wants to clear his name for his country, for his family and he won’t stop at anything.

Brenda Lee and Peter Tork at Lee’s 1966 New Year’s Eve masquerade party. Photo 2 (and 1, too?) by Ric Klein.
New Year's Eve 1966:
“Every year for several years we threw a big masquerade party in December. […] We always had great entertainment, too. One year it was Gale Garnett singing her hit ‘We’ll Sing in the Sunshine.’ Another time it was Jewel Akens, who sang ‘The Birds and the Bees.’ My favorite was the time we booked the Monkees. They were the most popular group in America at the time, with hits like ‘I’m a Believer,’ ‘Last Train to Clarksville’ and ‘Daydream Believer.’ Needless to say, the Monkees were ‘fave raves’ in 16 Magazine. And since editor Gloria Stavers had long been my buddy, the gala got a photo spread in the teen magazine. After I sang with the group, I posed happily with Monkees Peter Tork and Davy Jones. Since I was a clown that year, my cheeks were dotted with red circles, and I was wearing a puffy ruffle around my neck.” - Brenda Lee, Little Miss Dynamite: The Life and Times of Brenda Lee (2002)
“[Lee] held it [the party] in the warehouse of her husband’s electrical store and everyone came in costume. We wore the clothes we had on but I guess some of the guests thought we were in costume anyway. They had a rock and roll band playing and it was mainly older people. Peter sat in on guitar with the band and Micky did his solo complete with dancing and falling down. [...] Davy did his number and then Brenda Lee sang a few songs. It was really great and the Monkees didn’t mind being away from home so much on New Year’s Eve because of it.” - David Price, Tiger Beat, March 1967
New Year's Eve 1967:
Peter, along with Karen Harvey and baby Justin, traveled to London.
"Saturday morning, the telephone rings, Dad answers and the operator tells him that there is a call from New York for Davy Jones, or anyone at Clumber Road, so Dad accepts the call. ‘This is Peter, Peter Tork, sir. I’m so pleased to speak to you. David has told me such a lot about you.’ The message is to tell David that Peter is at the airport in New York and is flying to London, can David meet him there for the New Year? Luckily we are able to get hold of David and fix things up. On Sunday morning Peter flies into London and David meets him at the airport. [They attended] a swinging New Year’s Eve party at the 'Speakeasy Club' in London." - Hazel Jones Wilkinson, Tiger Beat, April 1968
On this London trip, Peter writes "Long Title..." (read more here), plays banjo for one of George Harrison's Wonderwall Music recording sessions (read more here), guest hosts Top Of The Pops, and gives interviews at a press reception held at London's Decca promotions office (read more here; yet more about that press reception here).
New Year's Eve 1982: Peter with MTV's Nina Blackwood (watch here).

Mmm Augh *mental chewing* :]-
I understand ppl who dislike tables and like to keep things vague or just go with nothing and everything, and I can totally respect that 100%- however in my own case I collect lables like pokemon cards and chew on them when I feel upset.
Probably bcs I had very little of personal interests and shit when I was younger, but ad a result now the fact that I get to have concrete facts abt myself and things I like is just,,,, makes me wanna bite them and chew on them yk? Idk.
Sounds kinda stupid outlook ig but it's a comfort thing

M.I.A. - Paper Planes 2008
"Paper Planes" is a song by British hip hop artist M.I.A. It was released on 11 February 2008 as the third single from her second studio album, Kala (2007). It samples English rockband the Clash's 1982 song "Straight to Hell", leading to its members being credited as co-writers. A downtempo alternative hip hop, pop track combining African folk music elements, the song has a less dance-oriented sound compared to other songs on the album. Its lyrics, inspired by M.I.A.'s own problems obtaining a visa to work in the USA, satirise American perceptions of immigrants from war-torn countries, and said that the issue was probably "them thinking that I might to [sic] fly a plane into the Trade Center".
M.I.A. had wanted to work with American producer Timbaland for the album Kala, but her application for a long-term US work visa was rejected. This was allegedly due to her family's connection to the Tamil guerrillas, commonly known as the Tamil Tigers, a claim M.I.A. denied. Her visa problems were also attributed to her criticism of the Sri Lankan government's discrimination and alleged atrocities committed against the Tamils, with whom M.I.A. shares an ethnic and cultural heritage. She expressed this on her politicised debut album Arular. The unexpected success of "Paper Planes" paralleled M.I.A.'s condemnations of the Sri Lankan government's war crimes against the Tamils, generating accusations that she supported terrorism.
The song received widespread acclaim from contemporary critics, who complimented its musical direction and the subversive, unconventional subject matter. It won awards from the Canadian Independent Music Awards and the American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers (ASCAP), and earned a Grammy nomination for Record of the Year. The song has received praise in publications such as NME, Pitchfork and Rolling Stone, each naming it among either the best songs of the 2000s decade or of all time. The review aggregator Acclaimed Music reports it as the second-most acclaimed song of the 21st century.
"Paper Planes" was used in the theatrical trailer for the 2008 stoner comedy Pineapple Express, directed by David Gordon Green, which catapulted the song to mainstream success in the US. "Paper Planes" and the DFA remix appear on the soundtrack to Danny Boyle's drama Slumdog Millionaire, released in 2008. The video game Far Cry 3 (2012) begins with "Paper Planes" used in the opening cinematic sequence.
"Paper Planes" received a total of 68,9% yes votes!
