What’s your fannish ID? Hello! I'm Descaladumidera on all platforms. Weirdly enough I get asked sometimes where this name stems from and the short answer is that my ex and I were just goofing around. He said this made-up word, and I ran with it. It's got a nice ring to it, it's unique, and I can shorten it to Desca.

What types of fanworks do you create? I mostly draw fanarts, as I'm a freelance artist and it's my passion and job. But I also love to write fics, even though I rarely have the spoons. Creating and sharing those creations is just a fun way to connect (and I also crave the validation, sue me). The best part is posting them and making someone's day, because they have been waiting for that particular update or just needed that kind of art right now. I experience these feelings myself when I see particular creations and I just hope I can make someone else feel that way, too.

What are your favourite types of fanworks, when you’re not creating? I just love everything that makes me feel something. Be it a particularly well-made gif-set, a fan-vid of my ship of the week, a wonderfully drawn fanart, or the fic I read before going to sleep. It's just the happiness that people with the same interests as me are out there, doing what they love, and sharing it with the world.

What do you like in particular about this fandom? My current comfort characters are Matt Murdock, Frank Castle, and Peter Parker, so I, naturally, like to see them together. Since NWH I'm deeply in the Matt & Peter pit, especially with Matt as a mentor and father figure. But I also fell in with SpideyDevil and Fratt, and my brain is very happy to see nearly anything about them.

Do you like participating in fan events? I love events! Sadly I barely have the energy or time nowadays to participate. I really hope that will change in the future.

What about your creating process? Ah, I absolutely need some kind of background noise, but it can't be music or I'll sing along instead of drawing or writing, haha! I mostly have reruns of shows in the background or some let's play on YouTube. I also use a Discord writer bot to get myself into writing more and I'm part of the Marvel Art Party Discord, which is great at motivating me. Talking to friends about what I'm planning and showing them WIPs is also a huge part of my creation process, because they are super supportive and always have a kind word for me.

Do you interact a lot with other fans? I try to! Sadly I'm pretty damn anxious, so I'm always worried I annoy others with my mere presence, but I try. In the past I did collabs with people in other fandoms, so I hope this will be something I'll be doing here as well in the future.

Is there any particular piece you'd like to showcase for this post? What is the most important part of being a parent? To see the children happy and are able to pursue their dreams. That's why most parents work hard for providing the best for the children. Yet in a village in Tamil Nadu, things work differently. Three generation of women will have to suffer after their life is affected by some patriarchal values and decisions. Things get worse because the religious values and the local norms are intersected and perpetuate those patriarchal and masculine dominations in that society. Women are unable to raise their voice nor even to stand for themselves. Everyone is a moral guardian to another. I do not want to go on with the plot as I may end up giving you the spoilers. Overall when we are about having the Buddy Read on this book on 2 May 2021. But the female characters and the masculine domination (or stupidity) which operate throughout the novel leaving me breathless. It's prolly because those are something that we see or maybe we experience in our everyday life. And this is what makes us horrified. Yet that's what Salma prolly wants us to see: the subjugation of women as a second class citizen. I firstly had a problem with the numbers of the characters here. I would even have to take a note and draw a biological tree to keep myself in track. But this book really leaves me emotionally attached. My heart constricts seeing how the society and religious actors treat those women. It breaks my heart seeing the sacrifiction those woman have to make throughout Salma's Women Dreaming too. Ah, Salma's provocative yet evocative writing and Meena Kandasamy's beautiful translation making it easy for us to be so deeply immersed with the story. Monsieur Zaraguirre is a homme fatale even when he is nearly sixty. The fact that this French stud resides in South America only adds a point to his charm. Whenever he goes, he always leaves long lasting great impression to women who fall at his feet. Women try to capture his heart and trap him into a marriage. Yet M Zaraguirre clearly states that he enjoys their companion but never ask him to promise anything (p.18). He is generous to his lovers but simply does not look for any emotional attachments. He bids those girls a farewell with expensive jewellery to commemorate him and their love affair. His friendship with the Duvilles brings him to an encounter with the young beautiful widow whom happens to be young Louis Duville's fiancée. A marriage is arranged and the Duvilles invited their long best friend M. Zaraguirre. Alas the old man falls for the young widow's charms. He decides to elope with and makes her his own wife leaving the poor Louis on his own. What goes around comes back around. Several years later, the young widow who is now Mme Zaraguirre accompanies his husband to a trip to Europe. She makes an ally with a woman whose job is only gossiping. Young Louis found out that his ex lover is in town and comes out with a revenge plan. The book to me is a diabolical love comedy. I love the intrigues in the novel, the portrayal of love, the infidelity, the complexities of the characters. My book edition comes with a set of beautiful drawing. It also adds a touch to strengthen certain particular scenes. finally, a map of udaea, even tho that’s probably the name for the planet and not just this particular... continent? all the landmarks are color-coded stars bc gimp didn’t have much of anything better and i wasn’t drawing that shit myself now i just... need to figure out names for everywhere...

the pink line is the path the six take, starting from the kingdom formed by the yet to be named legendary hero ages ago, where Sho and Tracee were born and raised

red stars are demon settlements, though they pop up like, everywhere, these are the most notable, the big one at the top is their primary portal/gate into this world

green stars are folian forests, and like demons they’re found in a lot of places, these are just most notable, with the one at the top being like a giant rain forest taking up most of that grassy bit, with a HUGE, tree? i guess in the center the green star near it outlined in black is a dissenting folian community more accepting of humanoids, and live with them as long as they follow folian rules

black stars are various human communities, and they sort of divide themselves based on similar appearances and have different cultures

yellow stars are Mes elf theocracies, the one on the bottom right being where Mim and Mathy were born the one outlined in black was originally human but Mes elves are gradually seizing control, trying to convert everyone

purple stars are Urs elf inhabited areas, the one at the top being where Desca is from

light blue stars are the primary entrances to the dwarf caves, which are incredibly expansive and not even 100% inhabited by dwarves or other humanoids bc the planet is just kinda like that, very hollow

the sun spots are general areas where ruins might be, where the old ones used to inhabit the place

Handle your Daredevil every day so he gets used to your smell. Daredevils don’t have the best eyesight, so they rely heavily on smell to identify people and other things. Once your Daredevil gets used to your smell, he will start to recognize you and feel more comfortable in your presence.

To handle your Daredevil, gently pick him up by scooping your hand under his belly and lifting him up. Then, you can hold your Daredevil in your hands, or sit down and let him rest in your lap.

Try to handle your Daredevil for at least 30 minutes every day while you’re trying to tame him.
