📚 Book Review 📚 Q: How is your November going? Mine has taken a bit of a swerve into sick territory (don't worry, we are all doing fine) but this means I get some extra time to work on my #NonfictionNovember TBR for this month. "What We Don't Talk About When We Talk About Fat" by Aubrey Gordon gets a whole hearted ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ out of 5 from me. Gordon takes the time to educate with a mixture of personal anecdotes, academic research, and cultural references that bring fatphobia and the systemic issues in our society to light. She makes a point of highlighting what thin, "straight" sized people don't see (or don't want to see), and it's not only sobering, but heartbreaking. It isn't simply a plea for the world to reckon with the antagonistic world that surrounds fat people, but a call to action. We all have the power to work towards a world where people are not made to feel less for any reason, and we need to start doing that. Now. I LOVED THIS ONE! 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 Summary: Declan is trying to become CEO of his family's empire but his grandfather says he has to be married and have a baby before he can be CEO. Iris his assistant tries to arrange a marriage for him but right before they go to announce the soon to be bride splits. This leaves Iris to step in. Review: I love when books have a romance but when the romance has this much build up and so much depth, it it puts the story at another level. I love how business Declan is and I love that Iris pushes his buttons so much that you can't help but fall in love with them. Let's just be clear- Declan may have put the contract in place but Iris is running the show the whole time. -Workplace romance -Boss/employee -Angst -Fake Dating -Fake Marriage -BANTER, BANTER, BANTER Not only were Declan and Iris completely great, I loved CAL!!!! The friendship that Cal and Iris had was untouchable. I love how much Cal looked out for Iris and was just fun. I also want to note that Iris's Nana feels like she could have the funniest Novella if it was out there. This is the second book in the Dreamland Billionaire’s Trilogy by Lauren Asher. Teguh Affandi @teguhafandi and Ucha @enthalpybooks shipped me Ziggy's books a while back. I could not help myself but to bring these cuties to work simply because I want to read them as a remedy of my homesickness - I do long to be among those in the Indonesian literary circles it's not funny! Luckily Edwin - our well-being parter conducted a resilience meeting where @dwitarina and I attended. We needed to do a bit of origami. What crossed in my mind were: a book by Susanna Tamaro entitled Va' dove ti porta il cuore (Follow your heart) and a poem written by Li Po - my first love in literature entitled the River Merchant's Wife. His poems always touch my heart and in this poem, I can always feel the love starvation that the woman feels towards the husband. Ah Li Po, what would our love be without you? We are mortals? Young girls who fall in love with their eye lashes fluttered at the littlest provocation? Today and the upcoming days are going to be a super bright and successful ones. Finally opened by book box from @thebookishbox! The book is The High Mountain Court by A.K. Mulford. I have yet to read this but it is on my TBR. Should I move it to the top? Comment your thoughts on the book below (no spoilers please). Not only is the book gorgeous but I love when the books don’t have a sleeve. All the detail is on the cover itself and I love it! Meeting them helps the young man dealing with tragedy, as things are suffocating at home, because of overprotective parents. Kermit meets Matt, and the friendship turns into love.

The Minus-One Club is a moving and emotional young adult novel. Fifteen-year-old Kermit Sanders is deeply wounded by grief after losing his big sister in a tragic car accident. The Minus-One Club is the story of a transformation, as Kermit loses his last drops of childhood innocence. Emotional, mental and spiritual changes are rooted deeply in Kermit’s story.

Kekla Magoon wrote a powerful novel, raising strong and difficult topics. Death, grief, alcoholism, suicide, fear of rejection. Kermit’s homosexuality discovery is at the heart of the novel. His relationship with Matt is sweet, but also ingrained in fear. Kermit’s family is really religious, and the teenager knows he will never be accepted for who he really is.

The Minus-One Club is a good novel. You jump easily from smile to tears. I loved the evolution of the story, and how all the characters evolved. Even if Kermit is the main character, the secondary cast also plays an active part in the story. They all grow and learn from their shared experience.
