male dhampir (frank luther)/fem!human!reader
SFW onshot
Contains: first meeting
Summary: You go to a library for some peace and quiet with good book until you start bumping into a odd stranger who you have much in common with.
A/n: Frank was sort of a throwaway character I had. I don’t remember what he was before but he’s a dhampir now so who cares 😩🫶🏼
~***~
Dark clouds gloomed over your small little town but you didn’t let that get you down as you walked to your local library with a closed umbrella in one hand and a book that you were going to return in the other. You dapple in adventure and sci-fi books or graphic novels every so often yet you found an author that you liked, he wrote stories about a treasure hunting dhampir.
Thunder roared making you flinch as you reached the library entrance. Pushing the door open and making your way inside, you greeted by Yuri, a male kitsune who owns the library and has a obsession with romance novels.
“Y/n! How are you? It’s so good to see you!” Yuri chirped out seeing you. His fox-like grin was warm and welcoming just like always, his fox tail swished around behind him.
You smiled back at the kitsune. “Hey, Yuri. I’m fine just returning a few books. It’s good to see you too. I though you didn’t work on days like this.” You said as walked to the desk the fox was sitting at.
He sighed, his ears falling slightly. “I know, but these clouds just rolled in,” He scoffed in annoyance. “So I’m stuck here but you being here makes me feel a whole lot better.”
You chuckled. “That’s good,” You put the books you came to return in the slot in the desk. “So you guys get anything new?” You asked.
Yuri’s ears perked up hearing your question, he smiled. “Yes, we did. That author that you like so much published a new book a week ago and bought some copies,” Yuri went under the desk coming back up and placing a hardcover book on the desk. “And I did hold this copy for you!” He said.
You gasped as your eyes widened. “Yuri, you’re the best!”
“I know, I know~!” He said as his tail swished around behind as he smiled.
“Seriously, thank you, Yuri.” You said smiling at him.
“No worries. Anything for a friend,” Yuri replied. “Oh! By the way if you’re in a romance mood we got some new stuff. And sci-fi books too.”
“Thanks, Yuri.” You said as you walked away from the fox at the desk and went into the sci-fi section.
As you walked into shelves that held sci-fi novels of all sorts, you stopped in your tracks spotted a another person standing near the end of the shelf, you could see their face due to the black hoodie that they were wearing, the hood covered their face but they were tall and you noticed their hands, they were very pale. They knew you were staring as blood red eyes turned to look at you.
That’s when you got a good look at their face. They looked to be a young man somewhere around your age. His features were so pale that his red eyes stood out to you. He was oddly beautiful.
He gave you a small smile and an awkward little wave, you returned the gesture. You had a strange urge to talk to him though you didn’t know what to say to break the silence.
“Um… hey.” The voice was a bit quiet though you could hear him.
You turned your head to look at the hooded young man and smiled. “Hi.” You said back.
A moment of silence until he spoke up again. “You come here a lot?” He asked.
“I do, every day. I’m friends with the kitsune up front,” You said. “But you’re a new face. I haven’t seen you before.”
“Maybe because I only come here during gloomy days like this. Though that doesn’t happen often.” He said.
“Really? That’s a bit odd.” You said.
He chuckled at your comment. “Yeah, I guess that’s true.”
“You don’t like the sun?” You asked him.
“Not really, it’s a bit draining.” He said stuffing his hands in his pockets.
“I guess it could be. Yet I guess I don’t feel it.” You said.
“Are you human?” He asked you. His voice had a hit a curiosity in it.
“Yes? Why?” You answered you were slightly confused by his question yet you answered him anyway.
“That’s probably why. Humans tend to thrive in sunlight well healthy amounts anyways.” He said.
You frowned, you confused on what he meant by that. Was he not human? He looked human enough though.
“Why did you say it like that?” You asked.
“Huh?” The stranger raised an eyebrow at you, he too was confused.
“Aren’t you human as well?” You asked to clarify.
“No. Well, somewhat. Ugh, how do I explain this,” He face-palmed himself. “I think it’s better to show you.”
He flipped back his hood then your confused look turned into a look of surprise. His pale ears were pointed like an elf yet they were more of the size of a human ear. But he’s definitely not a elf.
“Are you a—?” You paused to think. Was he a vampire? No. He looked more human.
“I’m a dhampir,” He said. “So I’m half human.”
“And half vampire.” You said.
The dhampir looked off to the side and looked to the ground. “Yeah, but I don’t like my vampire said all the much.”
You frowned. “Yeah? How come?”
He looked over at you then turned away again, he scratched the back of his neck nervously. “Well, let’s just say my dad isn’t the best.”
“Oh.” You muttered.
The two of you sat in silence for a bit until the dhampir spoke again.
“Frank.” He said to you.
“What?” You were a bit confused mostly because it was out the blue.
“My name. It’s Frank.” He said with a slight smile.
You smile back. “That’s a nice name,” You said. “Though it’s not what I expected.” Your joking tone made his eyes roll.
“Thanks,” He chuckled. “My full name is Franklin but I’d rather go by Frank. My mother named me okay.” Frank said.
You laughed. “I’m not make fun. Like I said it’s a nice name.” You said.
“So, what’s your name?” He asked you.
You tell him your name and he smiled and said. “That’s nice name.” Frank then peered at the book in your hands.
“So you must be a smartie,” He said. “Oh, you just like books.”
“I guess you could say that,” You said. “I have other hobbies.”
He smirked a bit. “Really? Does it have to do anything with quiet places like this?” He asked.
“For some reason I feel like you can read peoples minds.” You said, smiling.
“Really. Well too bad I can’t.” He said chuckling softly.
You spoke more with Frank as you searched for the books you wanted. You gave him some recommendations on books which he took and decided the read some of them. You found that Frank had more of personality than he let on but you found he’s a ‘keep to themselves’ type. Yet you broke him out his shell.
