The Cymond Cluster

This is a list of the many universal streams within the Cymond universal cluster (its name a reference to the Diaclone franchise that preceded Transformers, whose name comes from a merger of the words "diamond" and "cyclone"), one of the many clusters of different universes that make up the Transformers multiverse as documented by the TransTechs. The Cymond cluster mainly consists of worlds from other franchises that either precede the franchise itself, or some miscellaneous TakaraTomy franchises that are somewhat related to the franchise.

So, last night I was trying to find an obscure 80s toy, and I saw some Transformers stuff pop up, and as almost always happens, I started thinking back to this Transformers ‘knock off’ my parents got for me one time when we went on a trip to Canada.

I scrolled a little bit more, and for no reason at all, because it wasn’t THAT connected to what I was searching for, THERE HE WAS.  AND HERE HE IS.

(And I know, this is from Takara, so not TECHNICALLY a knock off, but when you’re a kid in 1987 or whatever, and you see these guys, you’re gonna think ‘Transformers knock off’.  And y’all know this was released outside the Hasbro Transformers line just to make a few bucks because it was similar.)

I was beginning to wonder if he was real, although I’m pretty sure I *still* have fragments of him scattered in some dark corners...

Secondo Forbes, è la quattordicesima persona più ricca del mondo. Per le primarie democratiche ha già speso 314 milioni di dollari, pur non essendo ancora entrato in corsa (lo farà per il supermartedì, il 3 marzo). I telespettatori americani sono subissati dai suoi spot - se n'è comprato pure uno per il Superbowl, unico tra i democratici. Ha assunto oltre 1.700 persone per la sua macchina elettorale La notizia di queste ore è che Bloomberg è di ottimo umore per quello che è successo nell'Iowa: sia per la sconfitta secca di Biden (con il quale compete per l'area moderata del partito) ma anche per il casino successivo al voto, a cui lui non ha partecipato. Per uno che se la gioca tutto sulle "competenze" e sulle "capacità", è ora più facile mostrare che sono proprio queste a mancare nel campo dei democratici. Qui in Italia 26 anni fa ci siamo accorti di quanto il denaro possa distorcere la democrazia. Chiunque abbia seguito la vicenda nostrana ai tempi, o ne abbia letto un po' sui libri, ormai sa bene che senza la sua potenza aziendale ed economica Berlusconi non avrebbe mai potuto creare dal niente, in tre mesi, migliaia di club di Forza Italia né avrebbe potuto usare la rete di Publitalia trasformando una concessionaria di pubblicità radicata capillarmente sui territori in una macchina di propaganda e coinvolgimento. I kit, le convention, il casting davanti alle telecamere, i falsi sondaggi di Diakron branditi per mesi - ancor prima dei Mengacci, dei Vianello, delle Ambre Angiolini e dei Mike Bongiorno mandati in tivù (le sue tivù personali) a dire "votate Silvio". Adesso però la questione non riguarda più uno staterello periferico come l'Italia, né altri paesi dove altri miliardari si sono comprati le elezioni: riguarda la prima potenza del mondo. Dove a novembre potrebbero sfidarsi due signori che per patrimonio personale nemmeno fanno parte dell'uno per cento, ma proprio dello 0,001: la punta della punta della punta della piramide sociale.... Primo, per la democrazia: la cui distorsione, se diventa cosa esclusiva tra miliardari, è abbastanza evidente. Non ci si può lamentare se i cittadini finiscono per credere sempre meno a questo modello politico se il consenso diventa pura merce da acquistare con un mix di miliardi e media. Secondo, sarebbe una catastrofe per il partito democratico: che si affiderebbe a un tizio il quale progressista non è mai stato, anzi era proprio un repubblicano. Sarebbe quindi una rappresentazione esasperata di quello che abbiamo già visto tante volte, cioè la sinistra che per non perdere contro la destra "cattiva" si affida alla destra "buona", così perdendo sul lungo ogni reputazione, ogni idealità. ... A proposito: per quanto ho scritto sopra riguardo a Bloomberg, questa mattina ho fatto quel poco che potevo e posso fare. Cioè buttar giù questo post e donare qualcosa a Bernie. Niente di che, nemmeno il costo di una pizzata coi figli. Ma forse è valsa la pena, visto che il bivio è tra la democrazia di tutti e quella solo dei miliardari.
