Can You Have An Evil Or Sinister Digimon Partner, And Have Them Still Care About You.

After playing Digimon Survive, I started wondering if you could have a Digimon that’s considered evil as your Digimon partner. I noticed in Digimon Survive that not only does Kaito had Dracmon as his partner despite the fact that the Digimon Reference Book says that Dracmon isn’t really a nice Digimon. Despite this, Dracmon and all of his evolved forms (Sangloupmon, Myotismon, Beelzemon) seem to care about Kaito despite the fact that they’re all considered evil Digimon. (I know Beelzemon isn’t exactly evil, but he’s not exactly good either). I was wondering if it’s possible for a human to have a Digimon that’s considered evil or sinister as a partner that genuinely cares about them. I’m just curious is all. I just think it’s interesting to have Digimon that are generally considered evil as your partner, and have them genuinely care about you, no matter how dark or twisted their personalities are.

Digimon

When they find a human child. (The kid is 4-5 years gender/neutral reader)

It was forever ago that I watched digimon and the different versions. I had to look up some of the digimons personalities. This is basically taken from different shows, mostly generation 1. The digimons that I like and are easy to place the right text to.

Is the big and mature digimon who will help the kid find their home. They know the moment they see you that you don’t belong to this world and made it their mission to help you find a way back. They are used to dealing with younger digimons so a human child is no big deal. They pick you up and ask you a lot of questions about your parents, how you came here, where you are coming from etc. The longer it takes the more worried they get, because digiworld is not a safe place for a little human child. Don’t worry though, they will take care of you until you find your way back home. They will teach you how to survive in this world. What you can eat and not, how you can defend yourself and what to do in different situations. They probably will start calling you their kid at some point and will feel proud and happy that you see them as a parental figure.

“Ew why are the brat following me?! Go somewhere else!!”. Doesn't like the kid at all and tries to get rid of it. Not by killing it or hurting it of course! They are not that cruel! But by running/flying away or tricking the kid to go somewhere or putting the kid in a box or hanging them up on a nail on a wall. Really, they try many different ways and become satisfied when they ‘think’ they have succeeded until the kid is sticking to their side and they sigh and get irritated. However when they finally succeed in getting rid of you they stay there and wait..and waiting..and waiting a little extra just to make sure you aren’t coming, just for them to miss you and getting worried. “Hey Brat! Where did you go?! Come back!” They end up taking a liking to you instead but they are pretty awkward about it. “Hey! Don’t go there! That’s dangerous!”. Yes, you somehow became their annoying little brat but they do have a soft spot for you, however they are not good at parenting though!

Say goodbye to your parents! You are theirs now! All you really did was call them “pretty” or “cool” with excitement in your eyes and they instantly fell for you and adopted you. They take you up in their arms? Paws? Claws? and take you home and fix a room fitting for you. They might spoil you to make sure you want to stay and have you ‘forget’ about your real parents. They will spend a lot of time with their kid, teach them things they know and totally show off while doing it too!

If anyone questions it they get upset, “What do you mean they’re not my kid?! Of course they are! Yeah they’re human, so what?! All babies don't come out of an egg”. Their parent instincts kick in whenever you aren’t around them or they don’t know where you are. “Where’s my baby!!” 😨

Awkward... They aren’t used to being around kids at all and lacking knowledge about them. Like what are they supposed to do? They don’t have the heart to just leave the kid, what if they die? They go around and ask other digimons if they know anything about humans or where they are coming from, so they can take you home. What do humans even eat? What do they feed them with?? What if the human gets ill?” 

They do find the little human cute and they don’t mind the hugs and affection you are giving them, however- they believe that they aren’t good enough to take care of you so they search for someone else who could do a better job. Of course they have gotten attached to you and will have difficulties saying goodbye when they find the right person and place. Might or might not cry when they hug you farewell, maybe you’ll meet in the future when you are older, maybe you can be together then…

They found you by accident. At first they watch you from afar for a while. Finding you very interesting and adorable. They already know at first glance you are a human from another world and the chances for you to come home is pretty low. 

They approach you slowly so as not to scare you and ask you questions about you and your home. The longer they talk to you the more comfortable they become and they actually enjoy themself. They end up offering you food at their place. And somehow along the way you end up in their care and now they are much more happy and have something precious to protect who needs them.

Knowing you are safe and waiting for them to come home and knowing you will be happy to see them will get them through even the toughest days.

“Oooh!! A new friend!! Let’s play together!”. These digimon is basically a child themself and doesn't think so much about the difference. Ask you what kind of digimon you are. Actually, they don't really care what you are! A friend is still a friend no matter what! Will ask you a lot of questions. They might get you in trouble but they will of course protect and defend you if something bad happens even if themself aren’t that strong. 

At the end of the day you will fall asleep together under a big tree. You got yourselves a lifelong friend (hopefully) and will take care of one another. <3

Wow you are very unlucky if you meet these digimon. You probably become their dinner or even worse, they see you as a toy to play with (and not so nicely). Will totally chase you and throw hurtful stuff at you while laughing. And when the fun is over and they get bored, they will probably kill you, unless your screams are heard and the digimon from the first text/part will come and save you!

A list of headcannons/actual canons in my AUs for digimon things

If in a universe like Adventure or Frontier where the kids are stuck in the digital world for a long time, then the kids will start to develop their own slight accents. They don’t really notice until they go back home and people think that they’re weird not only for acting like they haven’t seen each other in months, but also for talking weirdly

Unless digimon have preferred nicknames, then it’s seen as rude to refer to digimon by nicknames. Only partners and really close friends/family are allowed to shorten a digimon’s name

To add onto that, again in a series like adventure or frontier, the kids will usually start to refer to other humans by their full name out of habit if said human introduces themselves by their full name

When the digital world was young the Net Ocean and it were one in the same, however as time went on and the internet as we now know it developed, the digital world and the net ocean separated, connected by the Network (or whatever it was called in :2020) and the Real World and the Net Ocean are connected by the AR field

The digimon are native to the digital world while appmon are native to the net ocean. While digimon are made of data and their surroundings, making their evolutions more free, appmon are made by specific codes, making it harder for them to adapt, which is why they evolve through applinks with the right appmon

AI, digimon and appmon are pretty similar, but I think of it more like an actual evolution line, if that makes sense? All digimon and appmon are AI, but not all AI are digital monsters. Likewise, appmon are all digimon (digital monsters), but digimon are not all apps, if that makes sense.

Depending on the universe, the time difference between the digiworld and real one is set in stone pretty early into the digital world’s creation, however once the net ocean comes into play, it’s Timemon who controls the time ratio between worlds. Which is to say, one day it could be a year a second and the next it’s the exact same. He’s kinda quirky like that

Also the real world is actually called the analogue world, bc the digital world and net ocean are just as real as it is

the chosen playing stardew valley headcanons

listen, im obsessed atm. please ignore this incredibly specific headcanon post okay love u

taichi - he only started playing bc hikari insisted. idk he likes the fishing, tho!! he eventually marries abigail bc she, like agumon, will eat most anything.

yamato - he plays a bit in between his classes and thinks that the farming is really relaxing. he eventually marries penny bc he thinks she is sweet. (his character coincidentally looks like sam)

sora - she is gradually getting addicted to stardew valley and spends waaay too long picking out names for her farm animals. she initially tried to romance sam, but switched to shane bc she felt bad and wanted to help him!!! (her blue chicken is named “frosty”)

koushiro - koushiro knows of stardew valley, but he definitely doesn’t have time to play it. plus, watching his friends develop parasocial relationships with pixels is a little concerning. he does help miyako create mods for it, tho!!

mimi - she is obsessed!! she wishes the flower dance were every month and that the pretty colors of spring and summer could last forever. every festival, she spends all of her money on decorations. as soon as possible, she bought the furniture catalog at robin’s and spent HOURSS decorating her farm, house, AND the town. (linus has a little sitting area now!! the mines have flowers all in the entrance!!) she will marry haley every single time. they have two beautiful kids!!

jou - he literally has no idea what the hype around stardew valley is about, but he has seen the harvey thirst traps on tiktok and is happy the public are appreciating healthcare workers!!

takeru - npc interactions are his favorite, tbh. he does his best to give everyone gifts they like, except demetrius. he doesn’t like workaholic fathers for some reason. also, he wishes he could talk like elliott in real life without sounding like a sociopath.

hikari - she has played for over 300 hours. she has a fully functioning farmstead on ginger island and explores skull cavern for FUN. she has well over twelve save files- one for each bachelor and bachelorette she wants to romance. (elliott has been her fav so far - his poetry!!! his rizz!!!)

daisuke - he yearns for the mines.

ken - ken enjoys stardew valley, but only plays casually. (he just wants to have something in common with the others so that they can all talk about it.) he likes maru so far and has formed an attachment to his in-game cat named “miso”.

iori -he likes watching over daisuke’s shoulder as he plays, laughing whever a slime kills him in the mines.

miyako - a leah stan for life. the only thing she loves more than her wife is the DRAMMMAAAA and LORE these characters drop on a random tuesday afternoon. abigail’s heritage?? miyako is SCANDALIZED. alex’s entire exsistence? she is SAT, tissues in hand.

There’s an elementary school around the corner from my house and I pass by it every day. It has one of those signs out by the road that has various changing messages like “School year begins August 25th” Or “Halloween trunk or treat Tuesday night” or whatever. Pretty average stuff.

Today I drove by and it said “Welcome author [name]!”

I don’t know why but I thought this was extremely cute??? I think this is the first time I’ve ever seen them announce they’re having a guest on the sign.

I just want there to be a sign outside the elementary school Hikari works at saying “Welcome author Takaishi Takeru!” 🥺

Some things I love about Beelzemon is that he looks like a 40 year old dad that looks like he smokes at least 5 a day, probably does some hard drugs, very overprotective of his kids and starts squakin’ any time someone gets near, joins a biker gang to shoot up bitches and play pool at a bar and has a general hatred for society

Headcanons under the cut (along with another doodle)

Full disclosure I've only played the Harmony route of Survive so my opinions will probably change in the future to become more accurate if anything's off.

Older Kaito tries really really hard to not get into fights and control his anger. He still has episodes but he knows every calming strategy under the sun and with Dracmon by his side, he's able to envision himself in a happier place and relax.

He runs daily early in the morning to not only stay active but get rid of excess energy if he's stressed. You can bet he's listening to hardcore metal most of the time during his jogs to really go all out. Sometimes Minoru joins him on a weekend and they take a slower pace together and vent out frustrations about family.

Despite the times they've butt heads, Ryo and Kaito hang out a lot one on one after Survive. They often are silent most of the time, but enjoy each other's presence. Aoi joins them every now and then to eat together or watch a movie.

Kaito has many videos downloaded on his phone of relaxing music to listen to while working. Even if he isn't the biggest fan of technology, he loves music and it helps improve his mood a lot. He has an MP3 player to use on his runs and Miu helps him download youtube videos of relaxing music to fall asleep to.

Kaito wears a locket with two photos: one of the gang together after a party and the other of him, Miu, and Dracmon. Whenever a major panic attack is building, he holds it close and looks at the photos to try to calm himself down.

While he's still on the antisocial side, Kaito has gotten better at being friendly and more trusting towards new people. Yes, the survive crew matters the most to him, but he tags along with his friends to certain school events to be more open.

Kaito loves to jokingly wrestle with friends. He and Takuma fight sometimes while hanging out and Aoi will indulge and arm wrestle every now and then. If Minoru and Kaito fight while playing sports together, they often chase each other around while Dracmon and Falcomon watch in amusement. Also, Miu loves to go on his shoulders and back. Not only to feel more tall but to make fun of Kaito if he shows any sign of struggle or weakness supporting the growing Miu. She does appreciate him trying for her but doesn't admit it

After survive, Kaito tried to let Miu handle her issues by herself more. He recognized that his violent habits often made things worse with her social life, so he agreed to back off. He only broke this promise once when he stumbled upon a couple of boys a year under him made fun of Miu and attempted to get physical with her. He ended up telling Takuma and they both scared the bullies off with as little violence as possible. Miu did get upset at Kaito, but forgave him after they sat down and talked about the situation.

What school clubs the Digidestined partook in

Since Japanese children are expected to join a school club in their time as students, I thought it would be fun the speculate about the school club participation (or lack thereof) of the main characters from Adventure, 02, Tamers, and Frontier. I was going to speculate on the others well, but that sounded exhausting (plus in the case of Savers, I think it's obvious that none of the main characters were participating in school clubs, at least not during the events of the show).

First, I will list the characters whose club participation has been canonically

Taichi, Daisuke, Ken, and Takuya all play soccer. Sora used to play soccer, but switched to tennis in middle school. Koushiro and Miyako are both in the computer club. Iori is on his school's Kendo team

Now that we've went over those characters, let's speculate on the club participation (or lack thereof) of rest. And since joining more than 1 club is frowned upon in Japan, I will be writing this under the assumption that the kids only do 1 club with a few exceptions .

Adventure

Yamato- I got the vibe he was part of the 'go-home' club

Mimi- Mimi is probably 1 of the few characters I can see participating in more than 1 club. But if she had to only do 1 club, I say she'd be in the drama club, or perhaps a fashion club or cooking club.

Jou- I can see him joining a literature club or perhaps he could be part of a library committee like Komachi from Yes Pretty Cure 5.

Takeru- either basketball or some kind of literature club. I'm leaning towards the latter.

Hikari- Probably photography club.

Tamers- quick note, while I don't think any of them were already in clubs during the events of Tamers, I can see most of them joining clubs in junior high.

Takato- probably art club

Ruki- maybe some sort of sports team or mechanics club

Jian- probably computer club like Koshirou and Miyako.

Juri- home ec club? band? gardening? animal caretaking?

Ryo- I'm just gonna assume he's a member of the go home club

Kenta- upon entering middle school, Kenta considered joining the Chorus club, but much to the relief of everyone's ears, some of his friends out of it, and he instead winds up joining Drama club or literature club.

Hirokazu- drama club

Suzie- she's a little young for me to able to pinpoint what her interests in middle and high school would be, but maybe an animal caretaking like Kotaro in Ghost Game (Hopefully by this point, she's learned to be more gentle with living creatures).

Frontier

Kouji- I can see him joining his school's Kendo or Bōjutsu team.

Izumi- maybe literature club, as she's seen reading in at least 1 flashback

Junpei- one of the CD drama revealed that he took up Opera, so maybe a club relating to music

Tomoki- Once he's old enough to join a school club, I kinda like the idea of him joining cooking club or a home economics club.

Kouichi- maybe a literature club (then again the only time we ever saw him reading a book was in Takuya's imagination). Or maybe soccer, since one of the CD drama reveals that he apparently likes soccer.

LadyDevimon Headcanons

Yes. That being on her shoulder has a sentience of its own! It doesn't talk, but it does have its own little feelings and does its own little actions. It can even eat! Although, when grabbed should someone does so - it actually feels more like what comprises LadyDevimon's outfit.

LadyDevimon tends to be quite playful when it comes to having a Tamer. She likes to tease them more than anything, in any way that she can make her Tamer flustered. It just amuses her. It amuses her MORE when her Tamer actually teases her back! Just know her teasing is much more fun-loving than from a place of malice.

Otherwise, when not with one, LadyDevimon won't hold back and knows just what to say to make someone tick. She loves making people angered in such ways, loving watching them get so angry and flustered by her words. Her words can strike to the core, and she loves the reactions she gets!

Is a menace when it comes to sweets, actually. If there's a sweet treat laying around somewhere and LadyDevimon knows it's there, she's going to be snatching it up. It doesn't matter if it was a dessert some Digimon made that was resting to cool, or if a Tamer had something that was sweet in their bag. She's taking it, and she's shoving it into her mouth without a care. She just has a massive sweet tooth, though she tries to avoid being seen with such. She won't fall for tricks involving them, though.

The BIGGEST bitch if you make someone she cares about sad/upset in some way. She absolutely will defend anyone she cares about - this goes especially when it comes to having a Tamer. She's not going to let anyone make her Tamer upset in any way, and she'll give whoever did it the WORST tongue-lashing of their entire life. Even if she doesn't have a Tamer, but has a Digimon she's close with (which is rare for a Digimon like her), she is going OUT OF HER WAY to make sure whoever hurt them is going to be hurt 10x as much from her words.

LadyDevimon just likes to cause problems on purpose. That's just known. She also hates to show weakness in any way, so she always hides when she has an injury, or she never mentions it. You'd have to have her trust on a damn high level for her to even let you attempt to get close to her to help her. She acts like a cat when she's hurt, going to hide somewhere dark until it heals over.

Tai thought he was special (and he is) for having Agumon as his partner. The special-est of snowflakes. I'm biased in saying he is.

Then you showed up with an Agumon in tow. While the Agumons were PSYCHED about having a buddy, Tai was absolutely pouty. I imagine this happens around 02 time, so he's just extra pouty. Less adventures already, and now a second Agumon?? Ugh.

Every time the 02 gang sees him, he's pouting. It's because you're there. He won't admit that, though, because that's rude and Matt would punch him.

Of course, T.K. and Kari pick up on this regardless and tease that they only need one Agumon per outing, making Tai pout even harder.

You settle into the group pretty easily (ignoring Tai), and even he has to admit you're a hard worker and you're doing your best to help out. Begrudgingly he admits that maybe it's useful to have your Agumon around when he's not there to help Agumon Digivolve.

Begrudgingly.

Then again, the more he sees you, the more he realizes you're a real asset to the group. You prove yourself over and over, and if his sister likes you, well, you must be cool, right? He slowly starts to get over his pouting. Slowly.

As you get friendlier, you exchange notes on how to keep Agumon fed. Because you know, that's the most pressing issue when Agumon is your partner.

We don't talk about the time you two accidentally swapped Agumon. Oopsies.

It doesn't take long for your interactions to turn into a romcom, and everyone but you two can see it. You're literally holding hands how can you not see it.

It's Sora who walks up to you two and goes, "You need to go on a date <3" and because no one argues with Sora and gets away with it, you do.

Look at that, you're dating now. Was that so hard? (Now you don't hold hands because you're both blushing really hard. Oops.)
