Hope so much you enjoyed it and if you watching it on your birthday, hope your celebration of it was even better! Happy birthday you all! It was a bit rough because even if its special for my birthday, I hoped to publish it then sadly I didn't got enough time- and in last minute I decided to put colours on names as well! Comenzaremos por lo más básico, y es ¿sobre qué trata este blog de Tumblr? Bien, bien... Como veréis, este espacio está dedicado a Kamigami no Asobi, una serie de videojuegos en el que implican a deidades de distintos panteones. Principalmente, podréis realizar preguntas o establecer algunas situaciones concretas en las que os gustaría que los personajes reaccionasen. Siento que puede ser una forma muy linda para interactuar con vuestros personajes favoritos y, para que mentirnos, con suerte podremos revivir parte del fandom sobre este maravilloso otome. Antes de continuar, caben aclarar tres pequeños pero importantes aspectos:

Por el momento, aunque probablemente sea así siempre, solamente yo estaré a cargo del blog. Así que, si en algún momento empieza a haber un cúmulo de preguntas, por favor tenedme paciencia ♡

Reading into Dionysos cults today, just a bit.

He possessed numerous shrines and temples throughout Greece and was widely worshipped as a fertililty god. Phallic processions and contests held in his honour were quite common. 

I didn't know about him being a fertility god, and that seems to be pretty basic knowledge, though in my personal practice I come to him more for his chaotic side. -A/D

The oldest representations portray him as a mature, bearded god dressed in heavy robes and holding a thyrsos (pine-cone tipped staff). In the Classical and Hellenstic eras, on the other hand, he was usually depicted as a pretty, effeminate youth holding a bunch of grapes. Sometimes he was shown drunk, leaning heavily on a companion. Dionysos was also frequently portrayed him as an infant or child in the arms of Hermes or Seilenos.

Well hello there Hermes, fancy seeing you here as you were the other god I was going to research.

I believe the first depiction is more commonly known as Bacchus but Dionysos and Bacchus are the same as far as I'm aware.

Herodotus, Histories 2. 49 (trans. Godley) (Greek historian C5th B.C.) :

"Melampos [a mythical seer] was the one who taught the Greeks the name of Dionysos and the way of sacrificing to him and the phallic procession; he did not exactly unveil the subject taking all its details into consideration, for the teachers who came after him made a fuller revelation; but it was from him that the Greeks learned to bear the phallus along in honor of Dionysos, and they got their present practice from his teaching. I say, then, that Melampos acquired the prophetic art, being a discerning man, and that, besides many other things which he learned from Egypt, he also taught the Greeks things concerning Dionysos, altering few of them; for I will not say that what is done in Egypt in connection with the god [i.e. Osiris] and what is done among the Greeks originated independently: for they would then be of an Hellenic character and not recently introduced. Nor again will I say that the Egyptians took either this or any other custom from the Greeks. But I believe that Melampos learned the worship of Dionysos chiefly from Kadmos of Tyre and those who came with Kadmos from Phoinikia [modern Lebanon] to the land now called Boiotia."

Captivated me personally, I find Herodotus' writing to be very intresting, and I look forward to reading more of it when I have more time

Translation notes Konkonchiki - Traditional Japanese game, where player put one’s hand through a loop that had been created in the middle of a long sash and grab a cup of sake that was placed on a stand behind the loop, and should remove it until circle created by others closes. ( I had no idea how to translate it ) Melissa uses 'Tereru' which is more translated to being shy/awkward, but I picked to translate it this way because of previous phrase he says. It was hard to translate to make sense.

HEADCANON - Selene and Lunacy

There are some myths that mention that Selene was a ‘controller of madness’. Some, now outdated, words surrounding madness come from her or her roman name Luna.

Lunatic = ‘moon-struck’

A myth by Nonnus tells of a time that Dionysus calls on Selene/Mene’s help in dealing with Pentheus who was threatening him.

Her response is this:

‘Night-illuminating Dionysos, friend of plants, comrade of Mene, look to your grapes; my concern is the mystic rites of Bakkhos (Bacchus), for the earth ripens the offspring of your plants when it receives the dewy sparkles of unresting Selene. Then do you, dancing Bakkhos, stretch out your thyrsos and look to your offspring; and you need not fear a race of puny men, whose mind is light, whose threats the whips of the Eumenides [Erinyes] repress perforce. With you I will attack your enemies. Equally with Bakkhos I rule distracted madness. I am the Bakkhic Mene, not alone because in heaven I turn the months, but because I command madness and excite lunacy. I will not leave unpunished earthly violence against you . . .’

She gave Pentheus both visual and auditory hallucinations until he forgot what he had been previously been doing and he was terrified.

My own headcanons:

Selene struggled in adolescence with mental illness, including elements of depression, mania and psychosis, but has since held control over it. She is able to influence the mental state of others - particularly mortals.

She may use this to help Dionysus in his Bacchic festivals.

When she loses Endymion, her control weakens and she struggles with another great period of mental illness which her family help her out of.
