Riley's sense of self

For a possible “Inside Out 3”, this might be too dark for Pixar/Disney but I’m wondering if they can do a story that’s Anger-centric. Specifically, the plot lines that came to my mind are:

1) Riley goes to high school and becomes the victim of bullying. Anger wants to fight back, but Fear, Joy, and Anxiety hold him back because they don’t want Riley’s reputation ruined. This leads to Anger becoming suppressed and the emotions’ headquarters slowly falling apart because Anger isn’t allowed to do his job.

2) Riley enters into her first relationship. It starts off amazing (Joy and Anxiety are the initial focus here) until Riley learns that her partner is cheating on her. Same thing happens with the 1st storyline in that Anger is suppressed by the other emotions because they think they’re protecting Riley and her reputation.

Problem is, the more Anger is suppressed, the more volatile Riley becomes. Even though Anger is suppressed, Riley starts acting as if Anger is still at headquarters (“can’t control their rage”). To make things more complicated, the solution isn’t allowing Anger to control Riley since that would lead to Riley doing something reckless like getting into a full-blown fight with her bullies/the cheating ex. The moral has to be something about learning how to channel anger in a healthy way. Maybe Anger willingly decides to step away from the control panel or Anger does take control but chooses to express Riley’s anger in a healthy way. For example, instead of punching her ex, Anger just has Riley break up with them and walk away.

Oh, just thought of a possible climax! Maybe in the climax, Joy is convinced by Anger that he needs to control Riley because it’s for her own good and that Joy should be on his side since getting revenge would make Riley “happy”. That’s when Disgust steps in and convinces Anger to step away. The idea behind this is that Riley, even though she’s “disgusted” by her bullies/cheating partner, they aren’t worth her “anger”.

And another idea for all of this. To expand on the lore, maybe the movie can establish that the emotions can change into a villainous version of themselves. Not a voluntary change, but as a reaction to something that deeply affects Riley. What I mean is something along the lines of this:

Anger can turn into Vengeful

Joy can turn into Addicted (because if you get addicted to something, you’re engaged in that habit because it makes you happy/“joyful”)

Fear can turn into Cowardly

Disgust can turn into Hateful

Sadness can turn into Grief

And so on.

I just can't help it when I heard this song as thinking about Riley. This little girl had been through so much on Dream Productions Inside Out. Yeah, I watched the whole episodes last week and it was so good, I really enjoyed watching Riley growing up.
