OK...I'm asking....
Yay!
So this happened in what I consider the worst job I ever had. And that is saying something because I very much worked retail in a mall. I had just graduated uni, I couldn't afford toronto anymore, and I needed a full-time job to make ends meet now that the stability of university was gone. So I went to edmonton because I had one family member I could stay with until I got on my feet. And I was not in a position to turn away a job that paid.
So I took a door to door sales position. For telus. I can hear the canadians in the room wincing so to everyone else: telus is one of the three whole mega megacorporations that control the ENTIRE canadian telecommunications network. And all three of those companies are buddy buddy and have us all by the balls. That's why canadian phone plans are the most expensive in the world. Not in the developed world: in the WORLD.
The meth lab incident happened on my 3rd whole day on my own. I was in St. Albert, which is this suburb of edmonton that is like if a kale smoothie and that guy who won't shut up about bikhram yoga had a baby they abandoned in an HOA meeting. Which is what makes this that much more unhinged: it was in the most cookie cutter suburbia part of the EMR.
So I was doing my knocks in my blue Jay's hat and my telus branded polo shirt with my clipboard and I knock on my next door. I'm greeted by a middle aged woman who proceeds to dump on me that she's divorcing her husband of 30 years and moving to New Brunswick. I'm like okay cool I just wanna sell you cable packages, good luck with that?
I write that off and continue along the cul de sac until I knock on this other lady's door. And when I say talkative I mean a real chatty Kathy. She practically grabs me by the collar and plops me down on her deck chairs, shoves a coffee in my hand, and says "HEY TELUS GUY DID YOU KNOCK ON METH GUYS DOOR???" And points to the house of the lady who just told me she was getting a divorce
At this point I have forgotten about my commission. I have forgotten about my shitty supervisor and how every part of this job sucks and how I wanna go back to Toronto. I have thrown away my clipboard I have started sipping her coffee that could very well be spiked with something and I go "you have to tell me about the meth guy"
That house I knocked on? The weird oversharing lady who was getting a divorce? Her husband was running a meth lab out of the basement THEIR ENTIRE MARRIAGE and she ONLY FOUND OUT THEN?? He called it his man cave and said that she wasn't allowed in?? And then one day she went down out of curiosity and it was a METH LAB??? All the bonuses he said he got at work were meth money.
I'm still enamored by how this happened. Did it not smell? Like for those who don't know edmonton there is a HUGE meth problem here. Like across the political aisle we all agree that something has to happen about all the meth, the details get foggy and that's where people argue, but needless to say I have smelled and been offered meth before just by virtue of living downtown. That shit REEKS. Like you know meth smell because it somehow smells like the word "meth." You will know what you are smelling even when you've never smelled it before. And it lingers. It hangs. It gets into walls. I know when I've taken a train car before because the smell of that guy who hotboxed it with meth smoke last week will still kinda be there. There's no way that house didn't smell like ass down to the foundation.
And the "you arent allowed in my man cave" excuse... im enamored by both the sexism towards his OWN WIFE and the way she just... went along with it for 30 years? Never set foot down there? The sexism and the just believing it?
I kept trying to steer the conversation back to the meth lab and this lady I was on the porch of kept actively trying to buy internet deals from me. Like she was the only person I ever pitched who was TRYING to get my bundles. I ended up just handing her my list of products and told her to check off what she wanted and was like "more meth lab?" And she went right to "yknow i think if I was your age I would've been a boy now. We didn't really have those terms when I was a kid" I DID NOT BRING THAT UP MA'AM I DONT HAVE TIME FOR YOUR GENDER CRISIS TELL ME MORE ABOUT THE METH LAB
That job was so shit that that was the only one I ever quit with no back up plan and did not regret for a second. I then went to the mall and handed out CVs and got my retail job by the end of the week from doing that.

That face in the rain, you just pick out the face, and it disappears, and you can never find him/her again. You get married, divorced, married again, have kids, divorced, move to Edmonton from Mexico city. Then you're at the store, and for a second, out of the corner of your eye, you spot him/her. You look, but there's something in your eye and you have to rub it out and she/he is gone again.

43 - mess by noah kahan - "i'll put all my pieces back together / where they belong and i'll say / i'm a mess" i mean. future fic where they're both Doing Bad. i'm thinking brady is divorced (already off to a great start) and quinn gets a bad injury, perhaps during the playoffs, and so brady goes out to help because what else is he gonna do? be lonely in his house and not in the playoffs? nope! and it's a lot of trying to help quinn and quinn reluctant to accept it; quinn pushing brady to talk and brady reluctant to do it. lots of new jagged edges they aren't used to finding as they confront life's disappointments and, eventually, the looming realization that they way they both felt at sixteen was a lot deeper and stronger than most best friendships. that there was a chance there neither of them knew to took. now, though,,,,
98 - sweater weather by the neighborhood i gotta be honest this would be weird slightly pretentious post edm/florida game at edmonton pornography that would be very atmospheric and thinking about the places matthew left behind, the people. is leon one of those people. how long are they gonna keep this thing going; then again, the sex keeps being so fucking good. it makes matthew reluctant to stop even though maybe he should. then again, leon isn't telling him no, is he? and his hands are warm. better to stay under the covers.

okay bestie bear with me here but picture this: it’s like 20 years in the future. both of dylan’s kids are in college/out living their own lives and both connor and dylan are divorced at this point. connor has been working in erie, with the otters specifically, since he retired a few years back, freshly divorced. he’s searching for something, anything, that resembles the peace and the happiness he felt playing hockey in erie as a teen, and sometimes he thinks he’ll never be able to find it, that edmonton broke him in a way that means he’ll never actually be fully happy again, but he can work at being content (he’s always been good at hard work, at pushing himself farther and farther towards an unreachable goal-the way he finally lifted the cup, 15 seasons into his career, aching in ways that let him know that maybe it was time to start considering retiring)
dylan is working on player development? scouting? something like that, that has him traveling a bit and he’s around-sometimes in erie, sometimes against the teams they’re playing, and there are these moments where connor and him are making small talk, catching up on the milestones that don’t make it to social media, pretending they’re both not aware of the things that circulate in the gossip circles, and it makes connor want
anyway it’s actually just a study in the ways edmonton broke connor and how dylan helps him realize he can put himself back together again 💖

Recently, I've started thinking about how magic works in the Asterix universe.
Let's start with the Druids. It's obvious the exist and they're well respected among the common people. They participate in an annual festival, where they compete to see who has produced the best potion. Asterix, the village's greatest warrior, always makes sure that Getafix is ok and sometimes he doesn't even act without Getafix' consent. Even Vitalstatistix, the village's chief, asks Getafix for advice. And Getafix' opinion is always respected.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
We have seen Getafix producing more kinds of portion, not just the magic portion that gives its consumer great strength. Like that one time where he profuced a magic potion that healed or made Asterix jump like a grasshopper.

Ok, but hear me out: Mathios from "Sasmos" is the perfect Tumblr man that every Tumblrerina simps for. Let me explain:
He's tall, dark, mysterious and intimidating
He's a murderer (and we all know Tumblr's tendency to overromanticize killers *cough cough* Jeffrey Dahmer *cough cough*), but not just any murderer
He killed to be closer to the love of his life. And he waited for and stayed loyal to her
Tumblr media
Honestly, I don't know why the internet doesn't talk about him that much.

From left to right: Asterix (Asterix), Lucky Luke (Lucky Luke), Idefix/Dogmatix (Asterix), Iznogood/Iznogoud (Iznogood/Iznogoud) and Bass Reeves (Lucky Luke).
Note: Bass Reeves is actually from a new album of Lucky Luke (A Cowboy In High Cotton), but I added him because I really liked his design! It was nice to see a black cowboy for once (when black characters like him are usually background characters in this series)!

I know I'm late to the fandom, but I just wanted to share the similarities I found among "Six: The Musical":
"No Way" - "Get Down": Both songs address Henry for the same reason: to prove him wrong! Catherine wants to prove to Henry that he's wrong about divorcing him, as she has never ever has done something to upset him or cause him pain ("If you could just explain/ a single thing I've done to cause you pain/ I'll go/ No?/ You've got nothing to say/ I'm not going away/ There's no way!"), meanwhile Anna states that Henry was wrong about him calling her "ugly" ("You, you say that I tricked ya/ 'cause I, I didn't look like my profile picture/ Too, too bad that I don't agree!")
"Don't Lose Ur Head" - "All You Wanna Do": Both pop songs address the audience and they follow a "storytelling" structure, with both Anne and Katherine explaining how their life was before Henry, how they met him and what they did to deserve their "beheadings", caused by their childlike and immature personalities ("I wouldn't be such a b- if you could get it up!/ Oh oh!/ Here we go!/ Is that what you said?/ And now he's going 'round yelling "OFF WITH HER HEAD!"/ Yeah, I'm pretty sure he means it/ Seems it", "Thomas is there to lend a helping hand/ so sweet, makes sure that I'm ok/ and we hang out loads when the King's away")
"Heart of Stone" - "I Don't Need Your Love": Both songs are ballads, specifically dedicated to their loved ones - Jane to Henry and Catherine to Thomas - and expressing their grief that they can't enjoy their lives with them - Jane because she died from childbirth and Catherine because she's forced to marry a man she doesn't love. However, each one ends on a different note, as Jane's song continues to be sad, even to the end (as, you know, she died), whereas Catherine's ends on a positive note, as she survived and she was finally free to marry the man of her dreams (even though said man turned out to be an asshole).

✨️ If you get this, answer with ten random facts about yourself, and send it to the last 7 blogs in your notifications. Anonymously or not! Let's get to know the person behind the blog ✨️
Thank you to @lindszeppelin, @blurredcolour, @floralcyanide, and @soloangel for tagging me ( or my main blog ) or in lindsay's case, messaging me this.
I am a dual citizen of the US and Canada by birth. My mom is the Canadian half of my parents, my dad is the American half. I was born in Edmonton.
I was named after hurricane Alicia because my parents lived in Houston when it hit. It shows in how I am as a person. ( And yes, I know why do you go by Ally, then, it's because it's a version of Ali. )
I am ten years younger than my parents marriage. Give or take some months because they got married in October, I am an April baby. So, they've been married 40 years this year, I am 30 now.
I have been going grey/have been prematurely grey since I was 15 or 16 give or take. Coincidentally I have spent many a year dyeing my hair a red not dissimilar to Priscilla Presley.
I was a theater and debate kid in High School. Dreamed of being a lawyer. Didn't happen, probably won't ever happen. Still kind of bums me out.
I'm an only child but if you ask my mother she is sure she was carrying twins because she carried so big with me. To this day she tells me I ate my brother when I act like a stereotypical "guy". She means it with all the love in the world, promise.
I used to study engineering once upon a time. Switched to psychology after a breakdown over failing Calc 2 for the third? time. Much happier and much better fit for me as a human being.
I haven't gone up to visit my family in Canada since I was like 3. The last time I tried to go to my cousin's wedding and me and my parents hit an 18 wheeler tire in Kansas and hit a deer outside of Cheyenne, Wyoming. We decided to not go especially after we were gonna miss it anyway due to the car needing to be fixed from the deer and less so the tire. My cousin got divorced like a year later.
I have a sailor's mouth. I have tried many a year to control it but if me having a kid can't even get me to control it, yeah there's no hope I'm stuck this way.
The only sports I enjoy are swimming, figure skating, speed skating, gymnastics and hockey. I am only good at swimming because it's not easy to find a ice skating rink in Texas. And while I do live pretty close to a gym with a famous gymnastics coach, I never took up gymnastics but trust me I had the flexibility for it.

Anon, this lady is behind all drama....anyway to your ice hockey questions.
There is one Toews in Colorado Avalanche locker room. Not Tazer's brother btw other magic kid Nathan McKinnon hails from Halifax like Crosby. There is Kane, Evander Kane in Edmonton Oilers, other possibility for Tazer We don't know where both Tazer and Kaner will finish next season but I guess they are on the move So Tazer's any partner and I have no clue or an idea and I don't care people have friends of both sexes or flings or just break up, divorce or find new relationship. I think Kaner is established, with a toddler. Tazer will sort out certain stuff according US or CAN NHL team and seriousness of his relationship. So work or visa or tax residency.
Kathy Leutner is US citizen and Pittsburgh is US city . No problem to visit Halifax and no work problem which is a trouble for any WAG due to frequency of moving or just visa.
Tazer has never been a big user of social media but also he did not hide a girlfriend or paranoid about media like Sidney Crosby . There were sightings of Tazer at the airports and posing with fans like you see in the photo . Crosby has more sightings and posing with stars nowadays. Tazer is careful and quite mystery. Not anymore.

I see all y’all’s cute headcanons about them dating and defying their respective family/friends and being a sweet happy lil’ couple. I want that to be true but it just rings false to me. No way. Can’t happen. Not in their world. (Also, let’s be honest, Two-Bit’s drunk ass should not be marrying anyone, certainly not some sheltered young girl with poor conflict resolution skills.)
Here’s what I do see happening. It’s way later in life. Like, mid-80s? Reagan’s in the White House. Neither is in Tulsa anymore. They’ve both wound up, indirectly, in a not-too-far away city, like, I dunno. Edmonton or Fayetteville. They know through the grapevine the other is living there too but don’t seek each other out. It’s serendipitous, the day they run into each other. It’s a treat. Not gonna lie, it’s a special treat for both of them when they find out pretty quickly that they’re both single.
Date night! Dinner and drinks at a bar. Both are a little nervous but they wind up spilling their guts and roasting each other the whole time. There’s bowling involved. It sounds lame, and compared to their teenage years of course it is, but it’s still a blast, because it’s them.
Both of them feel like they’ve pretty much fucked up their lives so far. The more they share, the more comfortable they both feel sharing more. Marcia tells him about her asshole ex and how most of their kids hate both of them right now and how she’s living like a fugitive to avoid getting served papers because her husband got photographs of her screwing around with another man while they were unofficially separated. Two-Bit tells her about the stupidest and most embarrassing arrests he’s been put under. The late 60s and 70s weren’t kind to him. He made a lousy hippie. But he was a big fan of the drugs. He has a kid too. His kid adores him, because he visits only occasionally. He’s Disneyland Dad. Two-Bit doesn’t push the mom for more because he knows she’s right that it’s not good for the kid to expect consistency that he can’t live up to.
Both of them roast themselves. This is Two-Bit and Marcia. They don’t just make polite awkward self-deprecating jokes. It’s not “funny.” It’s not fishing for compliments. It’s brutal. And they don’t reassure each other. They roast each other too. They talk and laugh loudly but they’re in their own old language of metaphors and wordplay and non-sequiturs. No one understands them. It’s okay to tell each other all of their fuck-ups though. Neither of them is surprised. Neither of them thinks any less of the other. “You haven’t changed,” Two-Bit tells her. “You stop that,” Marcia says, “I wish.” “Fine, you’ve changed. You’ve grown up.” “I’ve still got that same stick up my ass.” Two-Bit lights up. He starts trying to physically locate it. In the bar. She has to throw some of her drink in his face. They leave sniping and laughing.
Once they meet, Marcia gets more serious about getting her affairs in order. She gets a new lawyer, stops playing games and procrastinating, gets the divorce finalized. She does get screwed quite a bit but at least it’s a closed book now. Two-Bit goes back to AA for, like, the eighth time? It’s different this time. Everyone can tell. He didn’t come to make friends. He didn’t come to get an audience for his “and I’m a shit-faced motherfucker!” jokes. He came to finally advance past Step 4.
They drive to Vegas to elope. They like being on the road so much that they stick with it for years, becoming antiques and mechanical parts dealers. They kill at it. Eventually they decide to settle in one spot again, but they don’t lose their zest for life. Two-Bit is steadily employed by the time his kid graduates and he puts the kid through college. They make new friends. Not greasers or Socs or suburban robots or criminals. Just regular ordinary people.
