«────── « HEADCANON » ──────»
I've been thinking about this for a hot minute, but I only just remembered it again and felt like sitting to write it out… But the whole dynamic between Anakin and Palpatine, right? Especially the opera scene from Revenge of the Sith?
That's how Harcourt and Elsa's dynamic was prior to everything that led to Wilson's Heart. At least, that's how I envision it based on the little we do hear about them in game. More below the cut.
I skimmed through a no-commentary playthrough of the game again, and here's everything that's said about them and their dynamic (both between them, and the wider family):
[First Mention] I was to meet a… colleague. Here. Dr. Arthur Harcourt. He collects data from mysticisms all over the world; any culture claiming to have a link to the afterlife. […] If we can find him, Dr. Harcourt will be able to truly explain what is happening here.
[Finding the Journal] My God, it's… his journal! Harcourt's notes! He never let anyone examine them…
[Seeing the Device] I can't believe Harcourt did it. He… actually created it.
[Banter] No need to curb your language, Wilson. My late husband was… well, let's just say I've heard it all before.
[Examining Corpse] I'll be fine, Wilson. I'm a mother, I have to be self-reliant.
[About the Journal] I needed Harcourt's journal in order to gain the knowledge to build the device for Andrew myself. After months of searching, I finally tracked him down here; residing as a doctor. Pretending to care for people… pathetic.
[About Wilson's experimentation] You, Wilson […] just another casualty of his cruelty […] to keep the device from me, he put it in you.
[About Haunting] No! Of course not. Even after all these years researching the supernatural together, we couldn't have expected this […] I didn't even have to attempt to create it. The fool did it himself.
[About Harcourt's "Innocence"] He deserved it, and more! I might not have intended for him to be killed, but it is a far better fate than he deserved. After what he put us through… What he did to us is unforgivable.
[About Relationship] Arthur Harcourt… was my husband. Brilliant, but only in his mind - not his heart. My son's human body was made… unusable… thanks to a drunken outburst one evening, from Arthur. A small push down a flight of stairs. That's all it took to ruin the life of an innocent, sweet child. And Arthur? He didn't even care. He left us; conducting more research - our research.
[About Separation] Arthur - that son of a bitch! He knew it! But he took the research - and his journal - that we had discovered together… and abandoned us. So if there is a God, Wilson, and any justice in this universe, he is rotting in Hell as we speak.
NOTE: it's important to remember that Elsa is an unreliable narrator, to a degree. She leads Robert and the others on to achieve her goal of resurrecting Andy. That said, I don't think she ever lied about Harcourt's actions, just their relationship dynamic (re: initially telling Robert they were colleagues, not spouses).
But circling back to the original concept of this post… The build-up to this conflict between Elsa and Harcourt.
Given the time period, the age differences, and the later abuse, I believe that Elsa was manipulated and groomed by Harcourt from the get go. They seem to have a lengthy relationship, and given I imagine Elsa to be in her mid-30s, it's likely she was in her early to mid-20s when they'd become acquainted. So there is already a power dynamic, but it seems like there was another factor as well.
Harcourt is easily able to find a position as a head doctor in this hospital, meaning he has experience. Elsa seems to have similar experience, though on the side of clinical research, meaning it's likely that Elsa could have worked under Harcourt as an intern throughout her later education. Being someone in a higher position, it's not unlikely that (prior to their interpersonal endeavors) Elsa idolized Harcourt as a mentor and authority figure.
Sounds familiar, doesn't it? That's the dynamic Anakin had with Palpatine, and the one that ultimately led to Anakin turning to the Dark Side. The one that ultimately led to Elsa becoming willing to kill people, and use them not unlike Harcourt used her.
And we see the seeds being planted in that aforementioned opera scene. The way that a subtle sense of doubt is created to lessen the trust held toward the Jedi Order. Just watch:
The part that really inspired this, too, is when Palpatine tells Anakin to search his feelings and explore what trust is held between all the involved parties. Especially the line:
" They asked you to do something that made you feel dishonest, didn't they? "
More headcanon for Elsa, but I imagine she always did believe in the supernatural. That's why she was eager to work alongside Harcourt, too. He used that to bait her in. But how? Well, again… looking at the time period (and even to a degree, today's beliefs), if someone says they believe in the supernatural or mysticism, what is the reaction? Mockery. Ostracization. Out casting.
If Elsa had ever expressed her beliefs, or the type of research she would wish to delve into, she'd just as quickly have to bury it. To be dishonest with herself, her feelings, and those around her. Harcourt would have been one of the few people who would listen to her grievances, if not the only one. It would have been easy for him to use that to his advantage.
And I just think their dynamic is so… interesting. Awful and tragic. But interesting to delve into and try and develop from the bread crumbs that the game gives us.

AIDEN PEARCE | WATCH DOGS; this man embodies older brother rage and it resonates so hard. like. the protectiveness over his remaining family. the fact he acknowledges (even if a bit harshly at times) that he is a bad guy. the fact he thinks he is utterly irredeemable… obsessed with him and his funky sense of fashion
APOLLYON | FOR HONOR; bastard woman. but i love her for it. her backstory doesn't get a lot of mention and i constantly think about how being a child when her family and such was slaughtered, and to have seen how the man who swore to protect them simply turned his back… i just. the way she's grown into someone who is willing to maintain the presence and intensity of war just to showcase its brutality. the way she took said man's armor and forged it to be her own. her brain!!! she is evil and i support women's wrongs o7
ARCADE GANNON | FALLOUT; the original "just like me fr" character, and one of the first canonically queer characters i had exposure to. my favorite companion always. his personality? incredible. his backstory? tragic. his humor? dry and awful, but i still love it and love him
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
DR. VIKTOR VEKTOR | CYBERPUNK; literally the character with the most transmasc swag i think i have ever witnessed in a game. like. genuinely. this man is trans to me and i am just so head over heels for this old man and his humor and his genuine care for those within his circle
ELSA WOLCOTT | WILSON'S HEART VR; underrated game and underrated character. genuinely. she is such a good character. i love the whole "parent who will do anything and everything for their child" trope (see: my inclusion of sam fisher and, by extension, aiden pearce). but like genuinely, elsa is such a tragic character when you look past the humor of the plot (re: the game being a mish-mash of horror tropes). i wish she coulda had a redemption arc q0q
MAJOR JACK KRAUSER | RESIDENT EVIL; bastard man. but i love him for it. the dynamic he has with leon (aka his obsession over his former ally) is so… man!!!! he also has transmasc energy and i really don't know how to explain it. he just. does
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
OBI-WAN KENOBI | STAR WARS; my first fictional crush fr, but also he is just. the character ever. the things he's been through, the way he uses them to better himself. the way he tries so hard to be a good man for everyone around him… obsessed
PUNISHED "VENOM" SNAKE | METAL GEAR; i am so normal about this man (lie) and the fact that he is a shell of his former self that has been molded to fit another's perfect image in an attempt to achieve a greater cause (one that would inevitably become corrupted and lead to his own death) and i just. mm. obsessed again
SAM BECKER | FAR CRY; underrated fave. i love sam's bombastic personality and how it stems from the fact that, after facing tragedy and having to adapt a role that makes him complicit in shit, he finally feels hope at things getting better (at least that's how i see it). he is my tragic little meow meow and i am still so sad about his death. i literally know it happens and every time i play the game i start getting so :((((
SAM FISHER | SPLINTER CELL; i discovered him while playing ghost recon and then he single-handedly shot me into the splinter cell series and now i am rotating him in my brain always. his character arc is one of my favorites, and a scene that always plays in my head is the one in conviction when he finds out the truth about his daughter's disappearance like. ugh!! plus i just love very involved and protective father figure characters (if you haven't noticed the trend on this list. and if you did? shush <;3)

Marion Post Wolcott (June 7, 1910 – November 24, 1990) was an American photographer who worked for the Farm Security Administration during the Great Depression, documenting poverty, the Jim Crow South, and deprivation.
Post trained as a teacher, and went to work in a small town in Massachusetts. Here she saw the reality of the Depression and the problems of the poor. When the school closed she went to Europe to study with her sister Helen. Helen was studying with Trude Fleischmann, a Viennese photographer. Marion Post showed Fleischmann some of her photographs and was told to stick to photography. While in Vienna she saw some of the Nazi attacks on the Jewish population and was horrified. Soon she and her sister had to return to America for safety. She went back to teaching but also continued her photography and became involved in the anti-fascist movement. Via Wikipedia

Gun out, Chest out, Middle finger out ---------------------------------- SCP-983 [Old Western Charm] J-████ A. Wolcott // Her/They/Him // Adult TW. Body horror, Eye horror
Physical and Characteristics:
Wolcott is a human (transgender-neutral) born on February 14, 18██.
Shares more similarities with her mother, Evelyn, than the rest of her siblings, even resembling some of her grandparents' features.
Experiences stiff joints or a loss of motor skills during the melting process, often requiring a walking cane, especially during winter.
Struggles with mental health and needs to maintain a one-foot distance from Sadie or wear a protective glove when interacting with her.
Often gets too hot to the point of needing to wear breathable clothes or wear shirts unbuttoned, especially during the summer.
Wolcott has the ability to melt into different binary genders or even a non-binary gender. This would weaken her temporarily; her joints would need time to recool and settle into their new environment, while her system needed to clean itself from any ill or unwanted items inside of her. If a pen were to get trapped in her, for example, it'd melt and give her some unknown illness similar to a fever.
Her eyes have some type of appearance, but it's not always the case. 45 percent of the time, her eyes would appear to be ripped out, and an empty socket would be in their place, or the ooze would drip from her eyes. She wears a blindfold to hide this.
Anomalous Properties:
Her amulet works the same but would keep the former's mental state or their physical form, depending on which one Wolcott picked. After a certain moment of time, her mental state will begin to decay (which is where the former's host mental state comes into play, switching her mental state with theirs), and her body will melt into a glop of molten amber.
Wolcott possesses a unique and dangerous ability: she can bend reality with her imagination and creativity.
This incredible power comes at a great cost. To control her abilities and prevent them from causing havoc, Wolcott wears a shock collar to allow her to snap out of her imagination before it goes south. The collar suppresses her reality-bending abilities but also serves as a safeguard to keep a malevolent entity, known as "It," from taking control. She usually keeps it under her bandana.
Her reality bender can also be created from her nightmares. Wolcott's nightmares are harrowing experiences. She often wakes up coughing up black sludge, a manifestation of her inner turmoil. It'll summon sludge-like creatures from her mouth and nose, even sometimes from her eyes.
Though Wolcott's eyes remain intact, she frequently envisions them ripped out. She can see, and there has been a moment of her eyes showing, but 99% of the time they're covered by bandages or 'ripped out.

Dear Colleagues ,Some individuals lead lives akin to heroes, and among them stands Professor of Oral Medicine, Frank M. Lucatorto. In 2001, the School of Dentistry and the dental profession mourned the loss of this influential figure. Born in Italy in 1922 and later a U.S. citizen, Lucatorto served as a combat infantryman in World War II. Upon joining UCLA in 1965, he excelled in oral pathology and medicine, notably pioneering compassionate care for AIDS patients through innovative treatments. His exceptional contributions were acknowledged with the Robert B. Wolcott Award in 1991, and the School of Dentistry's Alumni Association honored him by naming its golf tournament after him.

Okay let me start with my week it began as followed I planned a walk teamed up Wayne Barclay and his team from Texas Roadhouse, then called Jennifer Schmid Battaglia, Jan Cameron, Christine Carnein Carnien, and my brother Bob Marino. The people I just mention are the people that helped make the days leading up to Honor walk happen I could not have made this happen with out the help of these people and the help with the public. I met some amazing and generous people on my journey all way to the end of the walk. Bristol Connecticut Police Department, Bristol Talks Ct thank you for all your support and allowing me to help you heal. This was an Honor to have done and I would do it again in a heart beat. The minute I hit each city or town line I was greeted by their police departments and escorted to the town lines and they made sure I had all I needed to complete my mission. I was stopped by people that gave me give gifts or wanted to take a picture with me. The owner of a chocolate shop in Wolcott gave me a bag of amazing chocolate😁 Chris Culver. Then when I reached Waterbury city line I was greeted and escorted by Waterbury Police Department to Texas Roadhouse on Reidville dr. In Waterbury,CT. Avenue Towing made it a mission to find the biggest BLUE LINE FLAG they could display Texas Roadhouses parking lot and show huge support.
TO AVENUE TOWING,
You have an amazing family and I can't thank you enough for all you have done to help make this one of the best times ever you totally displayed the love you have as a family and for the love for our law enforcement. THANK YOU!
