We're bringing this event back! Special thanks to the new team who has helped me breathe new life into this event.

This is the sign up form for a Star Trek calendar with a focus on Polyamorous ships. QPRs are valid, and welcomed!

This calendar is SFW.

The schedule is as follows:

Sign-ups close March 1st.

Months will be sent out to their artist by March 4th.

Check-ins will be on May 4th

Pieces are due June 4th.

So I was thinking about Julian not really knowing what a healthy relationship looks like, and Garak not either, but they're both trying their best and muddling along and it's a sharp, spiky, precious thing. And how it might be if Julian was dating the O'Briens as well, and seeing what a long-term healthy relationship looks like from the inside and learning how to be loved in a very different way to how he or Garak have experienced, and he brings all this back to Garak.

And then my mind wandered off to giving Garak another partner (because polyamory has no limits and if Julian's got both O'Briens, Garak deserves someone else right? :p anyway...) and so naturally I paired him up with Odo. Who also doesn't know what a healthy relationship looks like. And so the circle of passing on tips from Miles and Keiko grows....

And goes full circle? When Odo starts dating Kira who's been dating the O'Briens, and idk where I'm going with this really, I just want a circle of people who've been overly reliant on Miles and Keiko's relationship advice without them really realising how much influence they've had 😅 (Which is to say, they're 88.7% responsible for Garak and Odo making it through their first month together... Not that either man would admit it.)

I just finished season 5 of deep space nine as a first time viewer and here are my thoughts:

- so we're entering the war seasons huh

- Quark's got game and no one (Odo) can deny it

- Worf, please get over yourself, Jadzia is so hot and so into you

- Ensign Vilix'pran singlehandedly causing overpopulation on the station

- Trials and Tribble-ations!!!! Watched it twice

- as if Kirk wouldnt notice smokeshows Jadzia and Benjamin!!!!! he would flirt with both of them in a second

- Curzon Dax... im obsessed with your passing... getting fucked to death? slay

- quodo camping trip, enemies to loves, huddling for warmth, only one bed(roll), hurt/comfort... i see you ds9 writers

- once again Kira is dating a boring ass white guy (she should date me)

- I'm so proud of Nog, that's all 🥹

- ziyal needs therapy for her daddy issues cause why else would she have a crush on an old gay lizard? who is in fact her father's nemesis???

- Dukat, they could never make me hate you (I hope)

- I'm so sorry Julian! I def would have noticed if you were missing 🥺 ily so much, you looked rlly good with your jail stubble 👉👈

- Julian's parents, they could never make me like you!!! Losers!!!

- ok but Miles talking about his love for Julian to anyone who will listen 😏

- depressed Quark was kinda... 👀 (I have deep issues and I am aware of them) (I can fix him)

- my mom watched "blaze of glory" with me and asked if Sisko and Eddington were best friends

- I need a full length horror movie of Empok Nor, including sweaty crazy Garak

- twice in different eps someone has said "who told you that?" and they just list characters? Polycule going strong I see...

- Benjamin Sisko, you are cool as hell. And such a petty bitch for leaving your baseball behind for Dukat! 😘

Keiko and Miles where they both don't realise the other is okay with being polyamorous due to a tiny little moment of miscommunication way back when they started dated.

Keiko asked in the most roundabout way possible, slyly going “so… is there anyone else you might have your eye on…?” and then listed a bunch of women she personally found attractive. Miles— being Miles, and being friends with Data (whose concept of relationships seems to stem entirely from 20th-century sitcoms) and Worf (whose entire concept of relationships is mind-blowingly conservative and rigid to the point of near absurdity) whom he went to for advice about the conversation— misinterpreted this as Keiko ~testing~ his faithfulness or something, so he very resolutely responded that he wasn’t at all interested in anyone but her because he is a committed person who “takes his relationships seriously”. Keiko misinterpreted this as Miles making clear that he was not at all comfortable with polyamory or an open relationship.

Hence, they both end up thinking that the other is the one who doesn’t want to open the relationship. Keiko has been patiently waiting for Miles to bring it up again and change his mind, but she won’t do it herself because she doesn’t want to seem pushy about it. After all, in her eyes, Miles set a very clear boundary and she wants to respect that… but she’s absolutely certain he’s got some kinda feeling towards Bashir and/or Kira. (Which Keiko very much shares! But she doesn’t want to make Miles uncomfortable about it!)

Miles, however, has been adrently pushing down any such feelings with the intense repression of a catholic schoolboy realising he had a fleeting thought that those paintings of ol’ Jesus Christ are kind of hot. Miles is shoving those feelings as deep down as he can get because he thinks Keiko is the one with a jealous streak who will be upset if she thinks Miles is attracted to someone other than her.

(Keiko, conversely, thinks Miles is the one with the jealous streak. She thinks she’s making fun little jokes about Miles having eyes for other women because she believes she can trust him so deeply that the idea of him cheating is absurd, especially since she also thinks she has made it clear that she would be fine with him having other partners if he just talked to her first.)

They spend years like this, with Keiko happily monogamous but quietly wondering when her beloved husband will realise that *he* isn’t perfectly happy being monogamous, and Miles shovelling down his obvious interest in anyone else, until…

He and Bashir (who else would it be, really?) make out a little while drunk one night. Miles heads to Keiko immediately in the morning and miserably tells her he screwed up, and Keiko is so, so confused because she thought she’d made it clear that Miles could have other partners, she would just like to be kept in the loop about it which he is doing so… What’s the problem?

Miles and Keiko abruptly realise that little moment of miscommunication that led to them both thinking polyamory was off the table even though they were both comfortable with it, actually.

(Keiko then quietly asks Miles if he still has the contact details for that Cardassian scientist, y’know, Gilora? She didn’t go for it at the time because she thought Miles would have been upset, but hey, if they’re actually both okay with it after all, well, maybe she could give her a call and— Miles interrupts that Garak is never gonna let him hear the end of this because Keiko was his excuse for turning Garak down this one time Garak got kinda tipsy and now Keiko is interrupting him because how could Miles not tell her about that?!)

(Keiko is sighing over how impossible her husband is to Kasidy later, who laughs and says “oh so I should have told Ben to go for it, huh?” and Keiko is grabbing her by the shoulders and emphatically telling her that she can go ahead and do that now immediately though please.)

O'brien Polycule

This is the magnum opus of the DS9 fandom and every time I see a new relationship map drawn out for it with the artist's own personal headcanons, sometimes branching out of DS9 and into TNG (because of Worf, Miles, and Keiko) or TOS (because of Jadzia) or VOY (because of Q and Lwaxana) I feel the purest glee. Every single one of those characters is in some kind of psychosexual tangle with at least three others and I think that's beautiful.

tbh I want to see more DS9 polycule stuff centering on Kira. Like, "This is my girlfriend, Jadzia (she's also Worf's wife), and my girlfriend Odo (who is also Quark's boyfriend), and my boyfriend Miles, who is married to my girlfriend Keiko, and they're dating Julian (who is really just my metamour, but he DID get me pregnant with Miles and Keiko's child), and my boyfriend Shakaar, and my boyfriend Bareil, and my boyfriend Damar, and this is Gul Dukat, who I want to kill, but is the father of my adopted daughter-"
