the inchident is so often touted as proof of max being unable to control his emotions when what happened was charles tried a dirty overtake so max did one back and then charles rather than let either of them win decided to run them into a puddle. do NOT let those dimples and tousled hair and loose jeans and the dog and the monaco soft boy of it all fool you, charles is absolutely ruthless and is as much if not more of a track terrorist compared to max, he just has an absolutely incredible PR campaign going on to convince you otherwise.

Random Question, did you ever play the DS Zelda games, Phantom Hourglass and Spirit Tracks? I've been thinking about both a lot lately, especially the Spirit Tracks OST and Ghost Zelda!

I have yet to play Phantom Hourglass but I do think about those two games often haha. Some time ago I was working on some Spirit Tracks stuff because that game always made me think of steampunk and I wanted to incorporate it into their designs. I don’t post a lot of toon link and certainly not enough zeldas so I’ll post more of these two soon o7”

u know what would be a cool genshin fic idea? isekai/transmigrated reader, but instead of appearing within the general timeline, you come into the genshin world 500 years prior to the start of the storyline in khaenri'ah.

honestly it could be either a little before the cataclysm, giving enough time to delve into some relationship building + explore some world building with characters like dainsleif, traveller's sibling (which would probably be lumine bc i actually do like her as abyss sibling & aether as traveller), and npcs like halfdan (still crying over him to this day ;w;) and possibly the khaenri'ahn royal guards (assuming you either join them or have a good enough relationship with them), OR it could be you appear during the crisis, completely and utterly lost as to why you were brought amidst the chaos and bloodshed as you watch everything you barely knew about this nation crumble before your very eyes.

either route will still result in reader's existential crises and constant "why am i here? just to suffer?" monologues because really, who would be fine after going through that after coming from /our/ world? and not to mention you've had to endure the next 500 years wandering with no real set path because you don't know this world— this era of teyvat or of genshin. you're merely stuck, unable to die, and forced to live a life of uncertainty with no clear direction for you to go to.

despite it all, you've at least been able to see dain during this course. while your meetings pass far too quickly for your lonesome, and his solemn demeanour is something you're yet to be accustomed to after having been with him before the fall of khaenri'ah (assuming it's the route where you appear before the cataclysm), you're glad to see a familiar face every now and then. after the messy departure with the lumine who left for the abyss order, you've come to appreciate his quiet presence more and more each time.

and then you decide it might be time to settle. you soon realise it's difficult to do so when your lifespan has become far more than that of a human's — of a mortal's — and so you find yourself becoming used to staying in one place for a few years before setting off for the next. rinse and repeat. over and over. it's come to a point where you've witnessed the nations undergo various changes each time you visit. you know change is inevitable, and yet your heart stings each time you witness it; a testament to how the world is ever-changing, yet you're stuck in place as a bystander.

one thing you're grateful for, however, are the bonds you've established amid your back-and-forth over the centuries. from archons like zhongli and venti to long-life beings such as neuvillette and the adepti to regular mortals who have showed you kindness as if one of their own... you've grown to cherish those memories, often reminiscing them when the nights get too long and surroundings too quiet. it was difficult at first, and still is, but you've become used to the inevitable change and the passing of those you once knew.

and after 500 years, you find yourself face-to-face with one you haven't seen since before you appeared in this world; the protagonist of this world, and the one you eventually join in hopes of finally finding a means to an end, aether.

little side notes/extras:

from /our/ world, you would probably know the storyline from up to around current (5.0) or maybe a little after the fontaine aq conclusion. it gives a lot to work with, but you definitely won't remember a lot of the lore after so long other than some main events, especially since most of your knowledge is pretty irrelevant for the next 500 years,,,

i think it would be cool if you had an inteyvat on your person as a little homage of khaenri'ah, which may or may not invoke some opinions from certain characters (*cough* aether immediately being reminded of lumine and having an existential crisis *cough*)

post-cataclysm you would go through a, uhm, long phase of helplessness, wondering why you were even brought to this world so far back if you couldn't even make any contributions. it does eventually morph into a resolution to do what you can to help those you come across if it's within your capabilities, but the nightmares and helplessness come back every now and then as a reminder for what you can't do :D yippee :D

honestly i'm on the fence whether you would have a vision or some other type of abilities (think on the similar lines of aether/lumine's and dain's), but i think having some type of purification mechanic would be a must in your arsenal !! would definitely lead to some moments between you and characters like dain or zhongli who suffer from the erosion as you give them a slight reprieve from what rages within and corrodes them

a little self indulgent, but i'd like to think your first /proper/ meeting with zhongli happens during a lantern rite festival, wherein you're admiring the lanterns in the sky after making a wish of your own and he comes up from behind with "they're beautiful, wouldn't you say so?" and !!

also as for love interests, as much as i would love for human/mortal characters, a part of me feels like this story would be better suited for the immortal/long-life characters as love interests?? idk i feel like considering that 500 years is, well, a long time, the bonds you would have with them compared to characters like, say, alhaitham or diluc would be way too different ?? though i would definitely still add them as love interest bc i am a sucker for so many of the human characters ;w; it would also add to the angst and hurt/comfort ahahha...

anyway thank you for reading this massive brain dump of a fic bc i absolutely would put this as a long term project, and if u made it this far then i would like to say that dain solos—

In reference to their conversation in the back of the shop in ep5, they’re the only people who can be truly themselves with each other and open about their stress and fear—and they know this. So many people are under Luthen’s “control”, if you will, and he’s always confident in how he speaks or approaches even people like Mon. But with these two, they have the ability to just let loose because they’re the only two to understand their side of things and who know each other so fine tune-ly to say the half of it. Bark that she talked him into it, yell at him for agreeing and saying he’s becoming insufferable… and then being able to reconvene and find a means through it

So I finished The Eye of The World (Wheel of Time #1). (spoilers in art form below)

and Good News I managed to keep my mind off of Stormlight Archive during a very busy week or two where I had to Not Think about the Big Interests but bad news I may need to find The Great Hunt. More art will likely occur. I have several more ideas for sketches (mostly vine references) and one Big Drawing idea.

the earnhardts are such a fascinating intergenerational racing family bc its like. dale's dad ralph earnhardt was also a really successful NASCAR racing driver, but he refused to help dale race AND refused to give him any approval and then DIED young at age 45, which EVERYONEEE who knew dale was like yeah that drove him insane. that gave him issues. lifelong ones. so dale went into debt trying to race and make him proud/prove him wrong, and then dale wins a championship in his second year but because hes so focused on racing (because of HIS father...) he himself ends up not having too much of a relationship with his kids. apparently barely saw them for years and left their mom to raise them alone in poverty. (he did this to two women and three kids but one of them got adopted by his stepdad. oop) but anyways. so it looks like. a pattern might be continuing. father’s inflicting poverty on their sons. generational cycles.

but then. the kids house literally burned down! and when they were in a tough spot because of that, he took them in to his big house on lake norman to raise them with no questions. which okay bare minimum but still. notable that he takes em in. and they have a tough relationship bc his son isn’t so much a tough guy. doesn’t quite fit in with what the mold of masculinity should look like to a race car driver from rural north carolina. so it’s tough. and he sends him to MILITARY SCHOOL… which to me is like. an i don’t even know what to do with you move. utterly unequipped

but even more notable: he starts to miss his kids and he brings them home from school. has another baby. and he starts bringing dale jr to races to ‘help’ with the crew. and then helps him start to race on his own. and dale gives him the support that his dad never did for him, and then to boot— its a way that his stunted north carolina working class rural ass can actually RELATE to his son in a way he never could before, and they DO bond through it. again unlike dale sr and his father. and dale sr wins 6 more championships. and finally daytona. and proves his dad wrong. he CAN race. he CAN win. he CAN help his son race. and maybe, FINALLY, he reaches some peace inside himself with his lineage and he soothes some of that wound in his soul.

but then its the twilight of dale sr's career, and dale jr joins NASCAR. and its 2001. and his son is running p2 in the daytona 500, the biggest race of the year. the one it means the most to win. and dale sr is in p3, and knows how much this means, and knows his own career is coming to the end sometime soon.... and hes the guy famous for racing every lap like its his last. doing anything for the win. the master of the bump and run. the intimidator. and literally as his last act on the earth, he IGNORES that same desire to win a race that has defined so much of him as a competitor and has been created in response to the approval his dad never gave him, and he defends his son's p2 for lap after lap from the cars behind. and then on the last lap, one corner from watching his son podium, he dies. and his son climbs out of the car after finishing p2 in the daytona 500 because of his father. and just has to deal with all of that.

and idk part of what is so fascinating to me about this family is that its two generations of people who SHOULDVE been nepo babies (and in many ways were), but who also lived in periods of poverty because their father's failings. and ralph earnhardt died before he could see his son prove him wrong, but dale earnhardt, despite also doing so much harm to his son and not understanding him for a lot of his childhood, managed to eventually carve through the daddy issues and the history and his own reputation and the particular brand of southern working class repression that can FUCK people up, figured out how to tell his son he loved him the only way he knew how: through racing, and he died trying to give his son a better chance at success. and i think there is a very interesting aspect of tragedy to that

literally struggling writing anything canon related bt bc i just don't see how i can make buck feel reassured and comforted by tommy when tommy left him so unsure by pulling the rug out from under him and constantly dismissed what he says. like anytime i open up the doc for this cock worship fic i wanted to write since october im like i dont want buck to worship tommy. i want buck to be trusted and not get his words scoffed at but thats just not canon tommy. canon tommy repeatedly let his insecurities take priority over buck asking to be together and buck asking clarity about what changed his mind and in my mind it's like i need to write a 50k fixit before i can write this smut fic set slightly in the future

quite famously in the Yellow trailer, the picture Yang shows Junior of the person she's looking for is a piece that Monty had made years before titled Transient Princess, which had initially started as something with Rinoa Heartilly, a major character in VIII's story

Rinoa, during the events of FFVIII, becomes a Sorceress - the only real magic users in the setting, all Sorceresses are women and their power transfers to someone else when they die. Rinoa has a white feather motif and manifests wings when using her Sorceress power

we later learn that Yang was actually looking for her mother, Raven Branwen (whose last name means 'white or blessed raven'), who has a lot of feathers in her design

and then in volume 5 we learn that she's a Maiden, one of the only real magic users in the setting, all 4 Maidens are women and their powers transfer to someone else when they die
