Star Trek XIII will begin filming in early 2015, and will be in theaters for the 50th anniversary of the original series in 2016. Karl declined to name the new director, but he knows who it is.

So this weekend I got to meet Osric.  He was standing in line behind me for the SPN fan panel, and I almost didn't even try because people kept coming up to him and I'm sure it was tiring and overwhelming, but I did.

A few months ago, Osric announced his cosplay contest, and I tweeted about him making me wish, more than ever, that I had any kind of creative talent.  To my surprise, he answered my tweet, and told me that talent stems from desire, and that if I wanted to do something creative, I should. And it just... clicked.

Since then, I've learned how to knit, I've been writing and drawing and playing around with some watercolor stuff. Because I can.  Nobody starts as an expert, we all have to start at square one.  

So I told Osric that he helped me a lot with that, and I asked if he would sign my sketchbook (which I was very embarrassed of, I'm still in that stage of being terrible at everything) just to keep me inspired.

He took my notebook, leaned against the wall, and wrote me a whole page.  He told me we all start at square one, and that when I look back on today, I'll be so glad I started. And maybe someone else will tell me they have no creative talent and I'll be able to help them, too.

He *might* have made me cry just a little, and I'm incredibly humbled by the experience. I guess this post is just a small thanks, for having faith in so many people that he's never met. Osric is genuinely a fantastic human being and I'm lucky that he's touched my life :)

When asked what he wants to see in the new Star Trek movie, Karl said he wants to see the triumvirate's relationship developed more, as well as getting more of Kirk and McCoy's deep friendship shown onscreen rather than simply implied.
