Wood Engraving Wednesday

ERIC RAVILIOUS

Here are a couple of small wood engravings by the noted English designer, painter, and wood engraver Eric Ravilious (1903-1942) illustrating English poet Harold Monro’s (1879-1932) poem Elm Angel, published in London by Faber and Faber as No. 26 in The Ariel Poems series in 1930. The edition was limited to 250 numbered copies on English handmade paper, and our copy is signed by the poet. Ravilious was one of the most significant wood engravers of his generation, despite dying at the age of 39 when his plane vanished over the north Atlantic during WWII.

Storyline so far

Angel has been given a new nickname by the fanbase as a result of his most recent matches: The Slasher-Killer. From the past few pay-per-view events, Angel has defeated the likes of Michael Myers, Mark Hoffman (who was working under the ringleader John Kramer), and Chucky. He’s also defeated the horror newbies Longlegs and Paddy (Speak No Evil).

The Slasher-Killer nickname may have gotten to Angel’s head. Enough to the point that the other slasher-wrestlers have formed a temporary alliance to get at least one victory over Angel.

Now, Angel finds himself in his biggest challenge yet; a casket match, where one wrestler must throw their opponent into a casket and lock them inside.

“You’re gonna melt. Get in here.” Rio said, eyeing Elm Root from the corner of her eye. "Worried about me?" Elm Root questioned, a smile on its face as it stepped back inside. Although it asked, the answer was pretty clear to the artwork. Rather than out of concern, it was out of inconvenience. "Should I be?" The Hikari looked up, looking quite disinterested as usual. Answering her question with yet another smile, "I suppose not." And yet perhaps the artwork was curious whether or not the artist could truly feel concern for another. Only time would tell.

"I REALLY LIKE YOU ." elm blurts out despite herself . she can feel her skin getting warm at the words, and even that is probably a sign that she maybe can't do this . she looks up at her and finds herself looking right back down . whether it's in guilt or shyness she can't even tell anymore . "like more than i thought i would . a lot more than i thought i would ." elm hesitates a moment before meeting her eyes and adding, "i know that sounds like it might be an insult but i swear it's a compliment ."

Sweet!! Yesterday I delivered to the original Nightmare on Elm Street house!! I was staring at it for a bit before, then when I was delivering to the patient, I asked, “so this house..” She immediately cut me off- “yes it is.” So fucking awesome!
