Imagine a pokemon trainer in Galar. His name is Arlo.

His starter pokemon are 2 eevee's, a male named dusk, and a female named dawn.

He is going around galar getting pokemon for his team.

He doesn't care about the gym challenge, be just wants to battle for fun, and so his pokemon get exercise.

One day while out in the fields of turffield. He meets a tall farmer type man in the grass. The man challenges Arlo to a battle, and Arlo wins. Not easily, but he wins.

As the man turns around to head back to the town, he tells him to come by the gym for a rematch sometime. He then flicks something at Arlo, it's the grass gym badge. That was Milo, the grass expert of galar.

He just accidently won a gym battle.

This is the story of a trainer who keeps having unofficial gym battles, accidentally becoming a rival to 4 other trainers, and somehow becomes the champion. He didn't sign up for the league! What the heck!

Arlo: Leon don't you dare put that cape on me! Come back! I'm not supposed to be that champion!!!

I like to imagine that he put the grass gym badge on a necklace, the other gym leaders saw it and decided hey I haven't had a non big gym battle in a while, so they decide to battle this kid. Everytime he gets a new badge he puts on a new necklace, so he has 8 at the end.

Evolution Item Basics

1. A lot (not all) of the Kanto pokemon that evolve into Johto pokemon will use what're called evolution items. These are new to the update.

2. These evolution items will be used in conjunction with candies to evolve the pokemon

3. There are 5 types of evo items and 8 pokemon that use them (see next section).

4. They are single-use

5. They can only be obtained via PokeStop

6. They appear in your items menu (as pictured above) and take up an item slot until used (more of a reason to take advantage of the deal and buy the extra storage if you can).

7. You can see if a pokemon requires one of these by looking at their profile, where a little picture of it will be next to the candy icon. No picture, no item required.

Metal Coat: Scyther and Onix

King's Rock: Poliwhirl and Slowpoke

Sun Stone: Gloom and Sunkern

Dragon Scale: Seadra

Upgrade: Porygon

Note: Golbat is an example of a pokemon that doesn't require an evolution item, even though Crowbat is a Johto pokemon. They don't all require an item. Also, Espeon and Embreon are acquired by following a naming convention, Sakura and Tamao, respectively.

I will update as soon as I get any info on frequency and chance rates. As far as I've experienced, I've only gotten one evo item in a night of playing, for your reference.
