So what does Candy Cadets story in RUIN mean now after SOTM?

Now that it’s been a few days since sotm released and people have been replaying the game, out of bounds exploring, and theorising… it got me thinking about how this leads up to ruin and how does that change our view on the mimic now that we know its origins?

we met candy cadet and to my understanding, it led us (at least me) to think the mimic killed David. Is that still true? Is there evidence that David was killed by the mimic? Is this story now confirming a whole piece to the Murry family?

candy cadets story in Ruin goes like this:

“Now I will tell you a story. About a mother and a little boy who lived alone in a cabin in the dark woods. There was a monster in the woods, but the mother caught it and kept it locked in the basement. The monster always made scary noises at night, but the mother would tell the boy not to worry because it could never get out. Then she would sing the boy a lullaby to sleep. One day, the monster stopped growling and instead, listened and learned the lullaby. The next day when the mother went out to find food, the monster sang the lullaby from the basement. The little boy heard the lullaby and opened the door.”

it was always Fiona and David, Edwin wasn’t really around for them, for his family as he prioritised his work and contract for Fazbear. When I think cabin in the woods, I think of their house because it feels so deep somewhere after managing those underground tunnels just to get to the house in SOTM. M1, but it could also mean F10-N4, who is trapped under the warehouse, that could be considered a basement because of how far deep the Research and Development room is. M1 is still a mimic program that learned to mimic voices, but has a conscience. M2 (mimic we see in ruin) is just a program that is mimicking action and abuse that it was taught by Edwin. If it has a conscience, it shows it by mimicking words already said to it back to Edwin. We know it hurts but all it knows is to hurt and hurt others.

Who was luring and so who did it lure? What does the story mean now?

Thanks for asking!❤️I'm glad you're enjoying the fic -- it makes me smile to know other people like my self-indulgent fluff stuff.

The Cadet Batch's interactions with each other and the adult vode are some of my favorite things in the fic! A large portion of the bitty batcher's conversations have spent months in a jumbled together draft, because I've been jotting down the ideas for quite a while. Most of the banter and nonsense are either inspired by conversations I've overheard or directly pulled from my own interactions with my younger siblings. For example, this part in Chapter 23...

“If we find them, do we get to keep them?” Comet asked. It was a jest, obviously, but Wolffe detected a tiny little bit of hope in the soldier’s eyes, too.  “No,” Echo said flatly.

...is literally just a transcription of what my munchkinest sibling said in Belk one day when I was pushing her in the buggy and we were looking for our mom and another sister in a different department. Her cute little three-year-old self asked, "If I find them, do I get to keep them?" and like four people nearby started laughing.

She has so many of the cutest comebacks and random statements. She stole my other (younger) sister's goldfish one time and the other sister declared it to the world. Baby sister then looked panicked and said "No, No, No -- I don't wanna go to jail!"

Other sister: "Why not?"

Baby sister: "Uh, because I doesn't!" Like duh!

(I was probably just overcaffed that day, but it tickled me to death. Said baby sister is also known for her ability to overcome any attempts at babyproofing the house, so that might have played into the Batchers' escape artistry.)

I'm also sticking to the chaos of my The Tales of the Bad Batch series when I write the little batchers' lines, because they really are just tiny versions of the Batch we know and love. I try to make sure that Crosshair is still snarky, Wrecker is still a loveable teddy bear that's also tough as nails, Tech is still a little nerd, and Hunter is just barely on the near side of the responsible-but-also-a-chaos-gremlin equation.

The little Batch is just so adorable and I love writing them so much. It's kind of like "what would Hunter say in this situation if he had absolutely no filter?" and letting the words flow from there. Also, Echo gets to chase his four energetic baby siblings around and try to keep them out of trouble, so that's fun (for us, and a little bit for him, too).

On a separate note, I'm trying really hard to get the baby batchers' dialogue and characters right because even once the fic is over, they're not going away. I won't say anything about it yet because it would spoil the ending😫but my sister and I have been talking about a spin-off series that takes place after the epilogue of Echo and the Cadet Batch. The Hondo and the Cadet Batch spinoff is still happening, but this new one will take place in the original fic's timeline and will include some other tiny clones along the way. 😁🥰

You know that Candy Cadet story in Help Wanted 2? Well what if- what if-

What if that story was talking about Cassie's dad all along? I think it's pretty evident at this point that Cassie's dad was the Bonnie bully in 1983. And we definitely know that Cassie's dad had some involvement with Fall Fest thx to the HW2 minigames. In 1983 he would have been 13-15, and as we know the 'Secret of The Mimic' takes place in 1979. Bonnie bully would have been a kid at that time. It's not impossible that he was there. We know that Fall Fest had some sort of accident that led into a giant fire. And possibly now with the teaser out, clearly the Mimic probably had some involvement in this.

What if in his childhood, Bonnie bully was scarred from the Fall Fest/Mimic incident, that when he grew up he returned to face down the Mimic? And he did so so that no other child would get harmed yet he failed because in either ending, he gets trapped and can't do anything to save his daughter. Y'know?

Look I'm just very hyped about the game and this is kind of a crack theory but imagine if in this new Carnival/Fall Fest game the protagonist is the Bonnie bully? That would be cool-

I still prefer the theory about Cassie's dad being Help Wanted Jeremy being scarred by Glitchtrap and coming back for revenge in Help Wanted 2 (since imo it doesn't seem like he had anything to do with the Mimic, primarily focusing on Glitchtrap stuff who I am 99% sure is William), but it's an interesting idea!

In the gameplay the four just kinda have copy paste Mechanics (during the night and interview segments, Lefty has their five dollar dealio going on in the pizza Sim segment), so I wouldn't be surprised if it was all four or maybe someone else? Hell, even helpy might be a candidate.

I just have to tell you, I've been coming across your Cadet Batch posts and every single one makes me even more excited to read your fic! I'm waiting just a bit longer before I start reading it since I prefer binge reading, and I'm so looking forward to it!!!

Can I say that I am also excited to binge read it after its completed? 😂 I skim previous chapters weekly to get a feel for where I am in the story (mainly to keep myself from accidentally disclosing something no one can know yet about the ending, etc.) but I think it'll be really nice to sit down with a (large) cup of coffee and reread it from Chapter 1 to Chapter 30 in one fell swoop.

(That aside, it's bittersweet to think there's only six more weeks of this fic, but I console myself with knowing there's more bitty batcher stories to come.)
