English class taught me to embellish my stories with adjectives to draw it out for a word count when I should've learned how to cut it down for clarity.

I would love to hear more about chinglish 👀
Yes I love it and find myself speaking it quite often but of course, because im supposed to teach in “proper English” at my job, it’s discouraged. Which. I kind of get but ugh.
Anyway here are some examples of Taiwanese Chinglish stuff I’d hear (or even say tbh) on a daily basis:
“Because yesterday is my piano recital, so I didn’t do my homework.” <- leaving off past tense of verbs and using conjunctions in ways that reflect how they are used in Mandarin
Similarly you’d often get something like “When I am little, I go to Japan.” <- lack of verb tense in Chinese means it’s easy for the listener to just know this is talking about the past without conjugating it that way
“He” and “she” are represented by different characters in Chinese but they are pronounced the same. Same with “his” and “her” so you get a lot of, “My mom will be so angry if you tell him that”
Articles aren’t really a thing in Chinese either so lower-level English speakers will use ‘the’ in places it wouldn’t be in other variants and also omit it randomly. Like when asked what they like to eat, maybe they’d say “I like the banana.”
In Mandarin, plural indicators are not always used, so even a more advanced speaker saying they like to eat bananas in general may still say “I like banana,” following that same example.
-s is also frequently omitted at the end of third-person verbs. For example, “My brother go to school in Japan.”
Many verbs in Chinese have multiple English meanings which can lead to sentences like:
“I know!” in response to an explanation that a speaker of another English variant would say “I see” for. (coming from 知道, to know / to realize)
“Do today have a quiz?” for “Is there a quiz today?” (coming from 有, to have / to exist)
“Can you say Chinese?” for “Do you speak Chinese?” (coming from 說, to speak / to say)
“Close the AC! I’m cold!” (coming from 關, to close / to turn off)
“I can’t see! Open the light!” (coming from 開, to open / to turn on)
“Yesterday I look TV” , “I like to see book” (coming from 看, to look / to see / to watch / to read)
Also modal particles like 啊,啦,吧 can be included at the end of a sentence that is otherwise in English, particularly la/啦 to express emphasis or commonly some sort of frustration. Similar to Singlish I guess:
“Stop hitting me la!”
“I already gave it to you la.”
“Yes it is ah!”
Lastly obviously there are always going to be loanwords or concepts like that:
I’ve posted about this before but familial words are quite common in Chinese. An auntie or an ayi is an older lady or perhaps some sort of domestic helper or nanny or something. An uncle is the same for men. (Sometimes younger people can be referred to as sisters or brothers but it’s less common in English. An old old lady will probably be called an ama)
Food words. Some food words just shouldn’t be translated. And people will try but it’s just. Dumb. Douhua will always be douhua, I don’t even know what it would be in English
Place names don’t usually have English translations but predictably even the ones that do might still be in Chinese when speaking English. Using “yushan” when talking about Jade Mountain for example
Swear words obviously. A lot of those are actually Taiwanese words people use in Mandarin that have now come over to English
I can’t think of any other specific vocabulary for Chinglish but just. Cultural stuff, you know. Like a lucky charm, it’s always going to be a pinganfu to me.
Anyway la, im sure there’s much more but it’s nice to get all this stuff down in one place. The point of English variants is that their features are common and intelligible, abd while there’s a huge push to teach “”proper English”” around here, I think people should be a little more lenient and understanding of local features and not be embarrassed to use them.
Taiwan is set to be the world’s first bilingual English-speaking country by its own free will by 2030 (I have thoughts on that lol but that’s in another post somewhere) so this is all fascinating stuff

Sinner - f!Sydney/f!PC
18+, content warnings & tags: forbidden feelings, religious guilt, flirting 737 words (a little pure syd blurb 4 my lovely lezbos)

Sun beamed through the windows of the library, illuminating Sydney’s strawberry blonde locks. She idly chewed on the end of her pencil, working on some homework between library customers. Her thoughts kept trailing off to the beautiful girl she’d met last week. You’d been visiting her nearly every day after school, and she’d found herself anticipating your arrival. She wasn’t sure why you were plaguing her thoughts, maybe it was the suggestive comments you always made towards her. She ought to keep you in her prayers.
The pencil in her mouth made a loud crack as it snapped in half between her teeth, causing Sydney to flinch. She hadn't realized how hard she was chewing. Just as she spat out the wooden debris into a tissue, the sound of clicking heels approached the counter - snapping her attention upwards. She stared up at you with her mouth buried in the napkin before coming back to reality, cheeks flushing bright red as she discarded the tissue. Instinctually, her hand flew up to her holy pendant, clutching it with trembling fingers.
“H-Hello, how can I help you today?” She stumbled over her words, a smile rising to your cheeks as she struggled.
“Hi Sydney, Do I really have you so flustered already?” You bit your bottom lip between your teeth, dragging your eyes down her seated body. Sydney squirmed under your gaze, clearing her throat loudly. Your raised eyebrows and taunting expression did little to tame the heat rising to her face. Leaning into her personal space, cleavage only inches from her face, you picked up the cross pendant around her neck. Twirling it between your fingers, you whispered in her ear.
“Such a lovely necklace, really. Does it remind you to be a good girl?” Sydney’s eyes went wide at your suggestion, the warmth in her face moving sinfully downwards. What… is she even supposed to say to that? Yes? If it did, it certainly wasn’t doing its job right now. Her gaze was fixed firmly on your chest as you pulled back, but you simply stared back at her like nothing had happened.
“How much longer until I need to return my English textbook?” you asked with an innocent smile gracing your plump lips. Sydney felt like she had whiplash from the sudden turnaround in your attitude. Her imagination must be in overdrive today. Not that she shouldn’t be thinking about another girl in the way she has been, anyway. She focused on the task at hand, logging onto the library computer to check your rental date. Trying to will the blush away from her cheeks, she looked back at you.
“You've got… uhhh….” She scanned the page for the details, “6 more days.” The end of her sentence was punctuated with a forced polite smile. Thoughts swirled through her head regarding the color of your lipstick, the cut of your top, the length of your skirt. She couldn’t really seem to think about anything but the gorgeous girl stood before her. It wasn’t even just how attractive you were to her, you were also just… kind. You were every bit as nice as she was, but without any of the religious motivations. You took time out of your day to check on her, to be good to her. That fascinated her. To be that sweet in a town like this was next to unheard of.
“Thanks, Syd!” you walked around to her side of the counter, ignoring her quiet protests about the rules. Setting both hands on her shoulders, you bent down to press a 3-second smooch to her cheek. Sydney’s heart was beating so fast it felt like a borderline medical event. “You’re such a good little helper.” your voice was low as you lingered next to her ear, letting your warm breath spread over the crook of her shoulder. She let out a trembling exhale, wide eyes fixed firmly on the carpet. As you finally pull away, you put your hands on your hips, looking down at her with a smug grin.
“See you soon, cutie,” Your voice is intentionally seductive, if she isn’t just imagining things. “Don’t spend too much time thinking about me, okay?” With that, you turn on your heel, swaying your hips as you walk out of the library. Sydney clamps her thighs together, brows furrowed as she stares like a woman hypnotized. She had a lot of praying to do.

What subject AOT vets would teach
(Erwin, Levi, Hange, Miche, Pixis, Hannes, Nile)
Erwin: He teaches English and AP Government. He has first, second, and third period English and teaches fourth period AP Gov. He also wears a tie to school every day and does Sudoku or cross words during class and passing periods. Has the lunch ladies put his lunch in the fridge since it's colder than the mini fridge he has in his classroom, and everyone says hi to him or talks to him on his way back to class. Watch the history channel after school and during lunch.
Levi: Slightly strict History teacher that everyone loves. If you ask him a stupid question, he'll respond with, “I'm not answering useless questions.” Doesn't hesitate to send people to the principal, but never really gives detention because he doesn't want to stay after school with a bunch of teenagers in his classroom. But if you ask him for help or tell him you don't understand something, he will stay after school to help you understand the work. Has the best test scores in the school.
Hange: Biology teacher that somehow still has a job. They've had so many accidents during experiments that they have a helper teacher (Moblit) in their classroom to keep them from blowing up the school. Yes. They do experiments that could cause explosions. In a biology class. Don't ask. Has an entire snack drawer, microwave, coffee machine, and kettle of water with hot chocolate packets in a basket next to it, in their classroom. Is seen as the 'cool teacher' and always has people sitting in their classroom during lunch.
Miche: Super cool math teacher whose class students always request to switch into. Teaching style makes it super easy for everyone to understand and is super nice. He also gives great advice and when girls spray themselves in body mist before class ends, he doesn't get upset. When grading tests, he writes little notes like 'your shoes were cool that day' or 'I liked your shirt that day' Also has the best test scores and grades out of all the math teachers.
Pixis: Law teacher who uses his own charges as what not to do. Also gets a lot of parking/ speeding tickets and complains about how cops are dicks. Never gives a grade below a C- because "at least you tried” Has something called 'movie Thursday and Friday' where at the end of class on Wednesdays everyone votes for a movie then the last half of class on Thursday and all class Friday (sometimes all of Thursday and Friday depending on the movie length) he puts of a movie for everyone to watch.
Hannes: "Teaches" Statistics, but he actually just uses it as a free period and everyone passes his class. Since he's good friends with Eren, Mikasa, and Armin's parents, the three of them hang out in his classroom the period before lunch since their teacher lets them out like half an hour early so she can go on her own lunch break early. His entire chalk board is covered in drawings, and for some reason has a fridge with every juice you can think of. (He says it helps with hangovers)
Nile: Finance teacher. Strict grader and gets asked about Erwin since people know that they went to high school together. He may be a strict grader and give a lot of homework, but his tests and pop quizzes are a piece of cake. Has a box of saltine crackers on his desk for some reason and always has Werther's Originals with him where ever he goes. Has the WORST coffee breath and only drinks one cup of black coffee all day.

“Remember what we talked about, kid.”
Nemuri raises an eyebrow at her nephew. “What exactly did you talk about?”

Expert Assignment Helpers Tips On Tackling Academic Writing Challenges
Best Tips from Assignment Helpers to Approach Challenges in Academic Writing
Among students in modern education, academic assignments play a huge role in the way to success. Still, they often seem to be barely doable for a student without some difficulties. If you have ever thought, "Can anyone help me with assignment?", then you are not alone. Professional assignment helpers are available to guide you through the process and ensure you excel.
This blog discusses some of the common problems students face in academic writing and provides practical tips from expert assignment helpers on how to overcome them.
Common Challenges Students Face in Academic Writing
1. Understanding the Requirements of the Assignment:
Each assignment comes with specific requirements. Students may struggle to grasp the structure, format, or key points, leading to confusion. This is where professional help on assignments can make a significant difference.
2. Time Management:
Results in hurried homework, juggling studies with part-time work and personal life. Poor time management affects the quality of work and eventually grades.
3. Difficulties in Research:
Finding credible and relevant sources is often daunting. Poor research leads to weak arguments and a shallow depth in writing.
4. Plagiarism:
At times, students plagiarise without knowing it because sometimes they either don't cite their sources correctly or lean too much on one reference. Academic integrity is important and should be observed to avoid severe consequences.
5. Language Barriers:
Non-native English speakers sometimes have difficulty with grammar, spelling, and academic tone in their writing. Even native speakers have trouble at times with formal writing.
Expert Assignment Helpers' Tips to Overcome Challenges
1. Understand the question:
First, make sure you understand what the assignment asks. Clarity is the first step to effective writing.
2. Allow for Planning of Time:
Divide your work into doable steps and allot time for each. A well-planned schedule ensures timely completion without sacrificing quality.
3. Utilise reliable research tools:
Please use Google Scholar or other library resources for academic databases. You must also establish the credibility of your sources to build up your arguments.
4. Learn Proper Citation Methods:
Get to know the various citation styles- APA, MLA, or Chicago. Tools like Zotero or Citation Machine make this process easier.
5. Emphasise Writing Skills: Practice writing regularly. Read academic articles, and understand the tone and style of writing. Grammar and syntax can be refined using tools like Grammarly.
6. Editing and proofreading:
Reread your work many times to eliminate any grammatical errors and awkward phrasing. Make your arguments are matched with the assignment objectives.
7. Seek Early Help:
Never wait until the last minute and then request assistance. Reach out to assignment helpers and ask questions to help you complete your assignments on time.
