Why are college websites sooo stingy with their details, I just want to know what the course actually entails, like what are the concepts they're actually teaching, and they're like oh we're too cool and aloof and mysterious, we can't let you know that, teehee, now sign up for my email list that just redirects you to the home page, boy.

EYYO LOOK WHAT I GOT TODAYYYYYYYYYY
Tumblr media Tumblr media
OKAMI PHYSICAL SWITCH EDITION MY BELOVED!!!!
The box art is so damn pretty and I NEVER see american releases come with a tiny lil leaflet for game controls and tips inside it! And the fact we never got an english physical release of the game and only digital is so mean, but thankfully this costs less than even some of the cheaper english games you can buy and it arrived WAY ahead of schedule yay ;;w;;
Only one teeny tiny downside.....
Tumblr media
I was misinformed that my digital copy was gonna also work for the physical and like, load my saves there too..... it does not
THAT JUST MEANS I GOTTA 100% THIS ONE TOO ONCE IM DONE THE DIGITALLLLLLL WEEEEEEEEEEEEEE sobs in 40+ hours agaiiiiiin
Least it plays in english thanks to not being region locked, the title logo remains the same in its Japanese form, its really nice XD
Now I patiently await one more tiny Okami thing to arrive!

#ok i am in a peaceful headspace because i entered this meeting in a zen state of mind and told myself that nothing could disturb my peace#but i must just relate what happened#me: it's such great news that higher-up leadership has greenlit this multi-year plan!#since they want to see the first stage implemented this next academic year i plan to get started on faculty recruitment & course developmen#redacted: [vague faraway expression] i had a great idea which is [long rambling description of a totally new program#that is totally disconnected with anything we've ever done before and would cost a gazillion dollars to implement]#me: that's... great. however i wonder if leadership will expect us to implement the plan they just approved#which we spent months developing and iterating with them#so let's keep thinking about that but i suggest we move forward with the things in the plan#R: now I haven't read the plan yet [VERBATIM QUOTE LMAO]#but i think the main problem with it is that you're always coming up with these new ideas. and then you never explain#how we're going to implement them or how much it'll cost or what it will take to make these things happen#me [breathing in for four - hold - out for four]: perhaps we can look at pages 14-17 together#where i have put together a detailed implementation plan with a timeline + estimated costs + commitments from partners#who will need to be involved#R: [staring at me with a look of poorly concealed dislike] ok..why don't you go work on revising this draft so we have an actual plan#me: this is the final plan. this is the plan that has been vetted and revised with your boss's feedback & officially greenlit by your boss#R: the real issue here is that you have all these new ideas... let me tell you about the amazing work i did on this back in 2011.#why don't you go back and look at that report and see if you can just use that to develop your plan#me: that report - which is two pages long and 14 years out of date - is already incorporated in this finalized plan.#i don't know how many ways i can say this. i can't revise the plan anymore because we are done revising it. it has been formally approved.#they are asking us to implement the first stage of it this fall#i have to move forward or we can't implement it this fall#because we won't have done any work. because we were revising a plan that is already finalized#LIKE WHAT IS HAPPENING#WHAT IS EVER HAPPENING

Sea level rise will become unmanageable at just 1.5C of global heating and lead to “catastrophic inland migration”, the scientists behind a new study have warned. This scenario may unfold even if the average level of heating over the last decade of 1.2C continues into the future. -The loss of ice from the giant Greenland and Antarctic ice sheets has quadrupled since the 1990s due to the climate crisis and is now the principal driver of sea level rise. The international target to keep global temperature rise below 1.5C is already almost out of reach. But the new analysis found that even if fossil fuel emissions were rapidly slashed to meet it, sea levels would be rising by 1cm a year by the end of the century, faster than the speed at which nations could build coastal defences. The world is on track for 2.5C-2.9C of global heating, which would almost certainly be beyond tipping points for the collapse of the Greenland and west Antarctic ice sheets. The melting of those ice sheets would lead to a “really dire” 12 metres of sea level rise. Today, about 230 million people live 1 metre above current sea level, and 1 billion live 10 metres above sea level. Even just 20cm of sea level rise by 2050 would lead to global flood damages of at least $1tn a year for the world’s 136 largest coastal cities and huge impacts on people’s lives and livelihoods. However, the scientists emphasised that every fraction of a degree of global heating avoided by climate action still matters, because it slows sea level rise and gives more time to prepare, reducing human suffering. Sea level rise is the biggest long-term impact of the climate crisis, and research in recent years has shown it is occurring far faster than previously estimated. The 1.5C limit was seen as way to avoid the worst consequences of global heating, but the new research shows this is not the case for sea level rise.

saw that you were working on turning the game into a full scale video game- if you ever need an illustrator I adore the project and would love to contribute. my portfolio is at https://orzaika.art/ and my bsky is @orzaika if you need examples :) but also congrats!!!! that's incredible news and I'm looking forward to more of signal hill
Omfg thank you! While I'm nowhere near being able to do any of this, my hope is get a game design document and a bunch of pre-production done on my own dime in order to put together a reasonable pitch for fundraising so I can actually pay folks to help me with the massive amount of work it'd be, so while I do need to do some more planning before I commit to anything I will absolutely keep you in mind when it gets to the proper pre-production stage because I actually do definitely need an illustrator :D Appreciate you!
(And if anybody's looking for commissions... 👀)

When you've spent the whole day thinking about the intricacies of your fandom spaceship plans, and you're interrupted by the architect-neighbor loaning you reference material and have to switch to talking about the intricacies of your pipe dream home-remodel plans...
...not entirely sure if this is a "Why am I like this?" or a "This is why I'm like this" situation.

there's so much nonsense and cruelty packaged into this. preaching to the choir here but just touching upon a couple things:
work requirements demonstrably don't work (source, source) most medicaid enrollees are already employed. this is a fake solution that does nothing more than perpetuate conservative talking points about self-sufficiency in a brutal healthcare system + economic conditions (stagnant wages + rising COL) that literally doesn't make that possible.
forcing beneficiaries to renew (aka recertify) their medicaid eligibility more frequently would only exacerbate existing procedural inefficiencies and churn (source) because of how disruptive and harmful it can be for beneficiaries to lose coverage, especially due to procedural errors or processing delays, many states have already taken steps to ensure that continuous eligibility is in place for, at the very least, children to minimize gaps in coverage (source) you can't make 'american healthy again' by making it even harder to access or maintain benefits than it already is. lol.
there's a lot more i wanna say but just read through that page and check out other resources linked within the chart. just reading over what they're proposing is making my blood pressure go up i cant do this anymore rn. im gonna go drink some water now.
