YES! Two of my favorite things coming together! I just started playing Magia Record again and my luck just scored! Got a few new magical girls from the anniversary gacha. I got Swimsuit Eternal Sakura and Juri Oba. Hell I even got Oriko!

I hope I get Chisato and Takina. Please Madokami let me get my two soldier girl people. I don't remember what they actually are to be honest...

In addition to these, Ikumi and Ryou will get their SE skills. But since I don't have them I have no idea if they are good or not.

I’ve been only half-interested in the recent event, hence why I haven’t been posting much (swimsuit events are all kinda meh to me), but this certainly has come as a surprise.

Or rather...well, I knew it had to come at some point, but I’m surprised it took this long! I thought they would throw it right after Ui or Eternal Sakura. I know it’s just the whim of the gacha, but releasing a “final battle” unit a good ways after the final battle officially concluded on NA feels a bit strange, haha.

While those skills look tempting, I don’t have enough gems to hit pity, nor the confidence to try without that security. I’m sure there’s plenty of people who have been faithfully preparing for this moment, though, so I’m interested to see what’s in store

Secret Treasure Box

Single Effect: Attack Up [25%] (All / 1 Turn)

MLB Effect: Attack Up [30%] (All / 1 Turn)

TLDR: “Secret Treasure Box” is pretty good considering that Swimsuit Sakurako is a support type character. It means she can help her team without actually needing to use her own disks, since the Attack Up will apply to all her allies and not just her.

Review: This is a personal memoria for Eternal Sakura (Swimsuit Ver). 

Let’s quickly explain its effect: Attack Up will increase the equipped character’s base stats, meaning that its effected is calculated before buffs/debuffs are considered. It’s generally considered superior to Damage Up/Damage Inflicted Up, however, because there are so many sources of Attack Up in the game it can be easy to hit the cap of 100%.

At first glance, “Secret Treasure Box” looks extremely useless in comparison to other memoria out there, but look closer-- this applies to your entire team, not just Swimsuit Sakurako. That makes “Secret Treasure Box” much more useful. It means that Swimsuit Sakurako doesn’t actually need to be fighting with her own disks (or using a connect or a Magia/Doppel) for her to support her teammates. It also means you don’t necessarily need to use a Puella Combo for this memoria to be helpful.

The usefulness of this memoria depends on how many slots your Swimsuit Sakurako has, and what you’re intending to use her for. If you only have one or two slots on your Swim-Sakurako, then “Secret Treasure Box” is going to not be as useful-- however, if you’re only using Swim-Sakurako here as a pure Support, and not worried about her own damage, then at two slots it won’t be quite so bad.

Other active memoria that are similar to “Secret Treasure Box” would include any sort of Defense Down actives, such as:

Having both on Swimsuit Sakurako might feel like overkill, but it also greatly increases her ability to support her team.

Overall, “Secret Treasure Box” is pretty good and an excellent memoria for a Support-type.

would you be willing to rank the madoka and homura units, respectively? (Like, best to worst homura units, best to worst madoka ones, what’s good and bad about them)? Some of them I can tell are good or bad but some I think are good but don’t see people utilizing or some I think aren’t the best but see people using, but I also don’t know all the mechanics of the game the best. You’re great at understanding all the powers and stuff so I was curious of your take!

uhhh let's see here... I'm not going to rank them because I dislike ranking things but I'll talk about how I feel about each one?

Let's start with Madoka. Madoka has:

Madoka Kaname: Still a good staple for magia/mp teams. Some units can do what she does better, but that hasn't stopped her from still remaining an excellent unit to have-- impressive considering that she is a day one character.

Haregi Madoka: Pretty bad. Her role is to act as a supportive healer by debuffing the enemy and possibly inflicting darkness on them, but to be honest that just isn't really needed. Being able to inflict Darkness is rare, but regular Nemu can do that too and brings more to the table without being a limited.

Ultimate Madoka: Her permanent survive and newly high stats from anniversary make her rather useful; for both PVE and for Mirrors. I'm not entirely sure how she shakes out now, but she's all-around a good unit for keeping your team alive and for dishing out damage. She's basically a support who can also kill.

Madoka-Senpai: I mean. She's a joke unit. She's not meant to be good.

Ultimate Madoka-Senpai: A staple for her charge conservation in places like Kimochi. There are other units that can do what she does in the game now, but that hasn't stopped this april fools unit from being very very good. She, or someone like her, are gonna be necessary to have for certain kimochi strategies.

Madoka & Iroha: One of the best units in the game. Literally. Top-tier.

Swimsuit Madoka: Fills a similar niche to Ultimate Madoka-Senpai but also has charge draw and gives charge conservation on connect. She is a staple for ranked mirrors.

Homura is next. Homura has:

Glasses Homura: Surprisingly had good usage in the last light kimochi thanks to her skill quicken on magia to the entire team. Otherwise she's pretty eh, but she's also free so there's not too much to complain here about.

Swimsuit Homura: She's a beefed up version of Glasses Homura, which doesn't actually say very much. Notably however a number of people found her very useful thanks to her magia/doppel being single target attribute strengthened, meaning that against certain enemies, she can straight up delete them in one hit. Other units like Eternal Sakura can do this too, but it's possible that more people might have Swimsuit Homura for that to work.

Homura Akemi: She's a dark blaster who has been powercrept by tons of other units in the game. Unfortunately her spirit enhancement didn't really help her do any better. She's not bad, but she's not good especially when compared to more modern/more recent units.

Akuma Homura-chan: Still important to Ranked Mirrors. She'll debuff the enemy, she'll give everyone another round of anti-debuff, she'll delete mp if she hits magia. She's a scary unit to fight. Less useful in PVE but some folks find great success in using her during the Hundred Evils.

Haregi Homura: I'm honestly not sure how good she is. I haven't seen too much play with her at higher levels, but it's possible that she just hasn't had a good chance to shine yet. Her SE active (that extends buffs and debuffs) is a make-or-break feature of her kit. She has excellent atk stats though so I don't think you can necessarily go wrong with having her. I think she might be very good for her respective kimochi but that remains to be seen.

Devil Homura: Well, I mean. Yeah she's fucking incredible? turn two doppel in mirrors (and hell, even in PVE) is amazing. There's a reason that everyone and their mom is using her in Ranked right now. She's easily the best playable homura as of current.

Author’s Note: I started writing this with the intent of having a scene prepped and ready for Valentine’s Day. But I think it works better as a lead-up to one that might be able to be more focused on the primary pair. Maybe...

“Alright,” Nico began from her position by the whiteboard, “so the photographer wants to do another shoot like the last one, where we chose a handful of themes and a pairing to represent each.” She started pointing to the list she had prepared prior. “We did an introductory set where we each did something on our own. Then we did a swimsuit set featuring Nozomi and…” She caught a glint in the spiritual girl’s eye. “Don’t say it. Not a word.” She growled, earning an innocent grin in return.

“Anyway,” Nico cleared he throat, “After that, we had a lovely yukata theme that focused on Umi and Kotori.”

“It really was a lovely set.” Kotori agreed, reminiscing wistfully. “Umi-chan looked positively charming.”

“Umi-chan looks dashing in everything.” Honoka chimed in.

“Next was the cheerleader theme,” Nico mostly ignored the additional commentary, “which was, not surprisingly, led by Honoka and Rin.”

“Our energetic duo.” Eli smiled at her two underclassmen.

“Rin had fun with that one, nya!” the younger of the duo proclaimed proudly.

“We were very passionate!” the older girl cheered, matching Rin’s intensity.

“And then we had the cooking theme with Hanayo.” Nico continued.

“They let me make rice…” Hanayo remembered fondly.

“And for some odd reason she was paired with Maki-chan.”

“What was that?” The redhead uttered her habitual phrase.

“You can’t cook.” The raven-haired girl stated, matter-of-factly.

“I…” Maki’s confidence crumbled under Nico’s knowing gaze “can… a little…” she finished, far weaker than she would have liked. However, as prideful as she was, she wasn’t one to lie about her abilities, unlike a certain bratty senior of hers.

“I’m more curious about how Nicocchi knows Maki-chan can’t cook.” Nozomi cooed.

“She tried to make a snack for us and almost blew up her microwave.” The raven-haired girl explained.

“Y-you didn’t have to tell them that…” The redhead protested as her cheeks flushed.

“Oh?” The purple-haired girl smirked. “And just what were you doing over at her place?”

“None of your business.” The aspiring idol stuck out her tongue.

“I believe the Christmas set was next.” Eli offered, trying to keep the meeting on track.

“Right, with you and Nozomi. And then…”

“That was a nice set.” The spiritual girl interrupted. “Elicchi looked absolutely gorgeous in red and green, but then she looks gorgeous in anything.”

“Nozomi…” The blonde breathed, trying not to blush.

“And we finished things up with Umi and Honoka heading up a New Year theme.” Nico concluded, trying to steer things away from too much flirting between the other two third years. Not because she was jealous or anything… obviously. And it definitely wasn’t because her own target for flirting was an oblivious girl with tsundere’ish tendencies. It was just annoying how blatant those two always were about it.

“I must admit, I actually enjoyed those costumes.” Umi stated.

“Because Umi-chan likes more traditional themes.” Kotori smiled.

“Precisely.” The archer nodded curtly. “Even with the stylized versions, the skirts were of a decent length, for once, and I believe a sufficient amount of the source inspiration was maintained. It was an honor to represent such a set.”

“Right, so that brings us to the next set of designs.” Nico said, flipping the whiteboard. “The photographers have made these suggestions, but would like our input on them as well as to fill out the list to at least six sets. And like last time, they are looking for a pair to be featured in each.”

“Rin wants to do the Sakura set with Kayo-chin!” the cat-like girl declared. “She’d look lovely in pink.”

“Rin-chan…” Hanayo murmured.

“Any objections?” Nico asked, though she didn’t honestly expect any. When nobody spoke up and a few shook their heads, she smiled. “Alright then, we have one theme claimed.” She wrote Rin and Hanayo’s names by the entry.

Kotori raised a hand. “What do they mean by Fantasy?”

Nico shrugged. “Maybe stories like Little Red Riding Hood?”

“Or Cinderella?” Eli mused.

“The Gratitude of the Crane?” Umi offered.

“Maybe Rapunzel?” Nozomi suggested.

The gears in the costume designer’s mind spun.

“Shall we put you down for that set?” Nico inquired.

“Yes…” Kotori uttered, her thoughts elsewhere. After a moment, she grabbed her notebook and began sketching.

“And you’ve already been paired with Umi and Honoka, anyone else you’d like to be with this time?”

“…” It was uncertain if the ash-haired girl heard Nico’s question as her pencil flew across the paper.

Honoka giggled. “She’s gone, Nico-chan.”

Kotori blinked and looked up. “I’m sorry, what was the question?”

“Don’t worry about it, we can decide later.” The idol club president shrugged before writing Kotori’s name by the set. “Those were the two they’ve suggested, so we should try to come up with four more.”

“How about a wedding dress theme?” Honoka spoke up.

“Japanese or Western?” Eli inquired.

“Hrm… maybe Western?”

“I’d love to see Elicchi in a fancy wedding dress.” Nozomi commented.

“Of course, you would.” Nico stated flatly. “But you’ve already been paired with her once already.”

“I know, and it was a really nice set.”

“So you’ve said.”

“I could pair up with Honoka.” Eli suggested. “It was her idea, after all.”

“That sounds like fun.” Honoka added her two yen with a smile.

“Works for me.” Nico put their names on the board.

“Does Rin really need to wear a wedding dress?” Rin suddenly asked.

“You’ll look extremely cute, Rin-chan.” Hanayo assured her friend, placing a hand on her shoulder.

“I’m with Rin on this one.” Umi spoke up. “We’re still in high school, why would we wear wedding dresses?”

“Silly Umi-chan.” Honoka chuckled. “It’s just a pretty photoshoot. It’s not like we’re actually marrying anyone. I know I wouldn’t want to marry Eli-chan anyway…” Her face blanched as her own words registered. “No offense, Eli-chan.”

“None taken at all.” The student council president laughed. “To be quite honest, I have no intention of marrying you either.”

The gaze of the leader of µ’s found that of the spiritual girl across the table, who returned a gentle smile. Brightening, Honoka smiled once again. “So, we’re good on that for a set then?”

“Absolutely.” Eli confirmed.

“Good, because I really want to see what lovely dresses everyone gets to wear.”

“I still don’t see…” Umi started again.

“Because, like Honoka-chan said, wedding dresses are lovely.” Kotori interrupted, turning to her friend. “Don’t you want to see me in one, Umi-chan?”

“I…” The blue-haired girl cut off when her eyes met those of the ash-haired girl. “That’s not…” Her face flushed as she fumbled with what she wanted to say. “… That’s not fair, Kotori…”

“I’m sure we all have someone we’d like to see in a wedding dress.” Nozomi said with a smirk.

“I don’t know what you’re talking about.” Maki scoffed. “What?” She asked as the purple-haired girl’s mischievous grin grew.

“Anyway, what else can we come up with?” Nico looked to move things along.

“On the topic of lovely dresses, how about a China dress theme?” Kotori suggested.

“Oooo, I like that idea.” Nico nodded, immediately adding it to the board. “I’ve always wanted to try wearing one since I always see the servers wear them at a restaurant near me.”

“So a China dress restaurant theme?” Kotori offered.

“I love it.” The twin-tailed girl gave a thumbs up.

“Like what I wore for my first photo?” Rin asked.

“Yes, but for all of us.” Nico replied.

“Works for me, nya!” The orange-haired girl grinned. “So you and Kotori-chan would be the focus pair?”

“Well, that would give me two…” The ash-haired girl thought aloud.

“Two for this time.” Nico shrugged.

“We’re going to be doing thirty-six sets eventually, right?” Eli pointed out.

“So we’ll all get a shot in the spotlight.” Honoka chimed in.

“Well, thirty-seven if you count our introductory set.” Nozomi observed.

“But we didn’t have pairings for that one.” Hanayo said.

“So we won’t really count that one, then?” Honoka questioned.

“But if we’re not counting it…” Umi’s brow furrowed in thought. “And we did six sets during the last photoshoot, then that means we really only did five of the thirty-six paired sets. Thirty-one doesn’t divide evenly into six.”

“So we can do seven sets this time to make up for it.” Nozomi said.

“I wouldn’t want us to overburden Kotori, though.”

“It’s alright, Umi-chan.” The designer in question laughed. “Unlike our live costumes, I’m not making these from scratch. You should see the wonderful collection of base outfits the company has that we can work with.”

“Oh, I guess I didn’t realize that.” The archer lowered her head. “My apologies for stalling things.”

“You worry too much, Umi-chan.” Kotori assured her friend, patting her back. “However, your concern is very much appreciated. Thank you.”

“So, what’s next?” Nico prompted.

“Well, since Japan is an island nation, perhaps a theme involving water?” Nozomi suggested.

“But we’ve done swimsuits already.” Nico pointed out. “You and I were even the focus.”

“That’s true.” The purple-haired girl conceded. “But I was thinking something more like a mermaid theme or something.”

“Aren’t we already doing a fantasy theme?” Maki inquired.

“Yes, and mermaids are indeed a fantasy. But there is also the whole eternal youth and beauty theme that goes with them.”

Umi wrinkled her nose. “But wouldn’t that mean people would be eating us?”

“I think that’s a bit too literal, Umi-chan.” Kotori said gently. “I think it would be a beautiful theme, Nozomi-chan. I could design fins that match all of our colors.”

“So do you want to be Nozomi’s pair for that set?” Nico asked.

“Maybe.” The designer replied. “But I’m already the focus of the other fantasy theme. And the China dress theme. Perhaps I can fill in if we don’t think of another pair later?”

Nico shrugged. “We can leave it open for now.” She wrote the new theme on the board with Nozomi’s name beside it.

“Maki-chan hasn’t been chosen for a pairing yet, nya!” Rin pointed out.

“Me?” The pianist blinked, glancing at the board. Rin was right, though honestly Maki didn’t really mind being skipped.

“Wanna be a mermaid with me, Maki-chan?” Nozomi smiled at the first-year next to her.

“Oh, uhm, that’s fine, I guess.”

“Well, if you don’t want it, you can give it to Umi.” Nico said. “She also doesn’t isn’t part of a focus pair yet.”

“Actually,” Kotori held up a hand, “I have a wonderful idea for Umi-chan’s theme.”

Maki shrugged.

“Alright.” Nico wrote Maki’s name by the mermaid set. “So, what’s this idea, Kotori?”

“Well, based on the restaurant idea, I thought maybe we could do something like a crepe stand.” She turned her notebook so the rest of the group could see her design. The sketched costumes were still in rough draft form, but it was clear that the theme revolved around the sweet dessert and the ingredients used.

“So would it be like us running the stand and serving crepes and desserts?” Umi inquired.

“That’s right.”

“I think I would be alright with that, so long as the outfits provide proper coverage.”

“Of course.” Kotori beamed.

A handful of eyebrows raised as though to question the sincerity of the designer’s apparent promise, but no concerns were vocalized.

“So who wants to pair with Umi on this set?” Nico asked as she wrote the idea on the board and added the archer’s name. “Oh, and we should also choose someone to be with Kotori in the Fantasy theme.”

“I wouldn’t mind sharing the Fantasy theme with Kotori-chan.” Hanayo offered. “It sounds like wonderful idea. Perhaps I could be Snow White?”

“I could definitely design a costume for that.” Kotori agreed.

“Then Rin could be Kayo-chin’s Prince Charming!” Rin proclaimed.

“Wasn’t Prince Charming in Cinderella?” Nico questioned.

“Then who was the prince in Snow White?”

Nico blinked, trying to remember a movie her siblings had watched numerous times, though not particularly recently.

“Prince Phillip?” Honoka guessed.

“No, I think that was Sleeping Beauty.” Nico dismissed.

“Did the prince even have a name in Snow White?” Eli mused.

“I don’t think he did.” Nozomi said, also deep in thought.

“He had to have a name.” Rin stated. “They don’t just have characters without names.”

“He didn’t have a name in the original Disney movie.” Maki read from her phone. “However, in productions based off the movie, he has been referred to as Prince Charming, Prince Florian or Snow Prince.”

“So, then I really can be Kayo-chin’s Prince Charming!” Rin cheered.

“I guess so.” Maki shrugged.

“Nya!” The cat-like girl pounced on her childhood friend and nuzzled into her.

“Rin-chan…” Hanayo smiled and patted her fellow first-year’s head.

“So, Hanayo for the Fantasy set.” Nico added Hanayo’s name.

“Unless someone else wants it, I’d like to be Umi’s pair for the sweet shop theme.” Eli spoke up.

“It’s a crepe shop, not an ice cream shop.” Nico grumbled. “You won’t be serving parfaits to Nozomi.”

“You can put ice cream in a crepe.” Nozomi pointed out. “Making a parfait crepe is easy.”

“Fine, whatever.” Nico sighed and added Eli’s name. “What is it with you two and parfaits, anyway?”

“They’re delicious.” Nozomi said, licking her lips as she shifted her gaze across the table towards the student council president.

“You know what, forget I asked.”

“So we just need one more set, right?” Hanayo asked, counting what was on the board already.

Nico did her own mental tally. “Yeah, if we want to do seven this time. Otherwise we’re good with six.”

“I have an idea.” Nozomi said, returning to the topic at hand. “And the perfect pair for it.”

“I don’t like that smile of yours.” Nico furrowed her brow. “What are you scheming?”

“You wound me, Nicocchi.” The purple-haired girl placed a hand over her heart as though in pain. “Don’t you trust me?”

“Not even as far as I can throw you. But…” The raven-haired girl let out a dramatic sigh “let’s hear it anyway.”

“We’ll we’ve had an Autumn festival theme, a Christmas theme, a New Year’s theme and now we’re going to do Hanami as well.” Nozomi explained.

“Yes, and…?” Nico made a motion as though to prompt the other girl to skip through her usual roundabout manner.

“Well there is one prominent holiday we appear to have skipped.”

“Valentine’s Day?” Eli guessed.

“That is correct, Elicchi.” Nozomi smiled at the blonde.

“You two already had the Christmas theme together.” Nico said. “Let another couple have that one.”

“That’s the plan.” Nozomi’s grin turned mischievous.

“Wait…” Nico glanced a several of the girls seated at the table, her gaze lingering a little longer on one in particular before going back to Nozomi. “You mean…”

“I propose that we do a Valentine’s Day theme!” Nozomi finally declared. “And I hereby nominate Nico and Maki to be the focus couple!”

“Bweehh?!” Maki practically fell out of her chair.

“Seconded!” Honoka cheered.

“Thirded, nya!” Rin cried.

“I’m for it.” Kotori added, meeting the excitement of the two orange-haired girls, but not the volume.

“Alright, first off, we’re not a couple.” Nico stated despite having a hard time keeping her eyes off the redhead whose face was quickly matching her hair.

“But you would make a cute focus pair for the theme.” Hanayo said softly.

“H-Hanayo, y-you too?” Maki sputtered as her head snapped towards her fellow first year. “Wait, d-don’t Nico-chan and I get a vote?” She looked around the table for support.

“It looks like they’re against it, Nozomi.” Eli said calmly to her vice president. “We shouldn’t force them.”

“That’s right.” Maki nodded. “Thank you, Eli.”

Nico’s eyes narrowed. Despite her junior’s reaction being fairly predictable, something about it still irked her. “So Maki-chan doesn’t want to be paired with Nico-nii?” She shifted to her idol persona.

“What was that?” Maki turned to her senior.

“Don’t tell me Maki-chan is afraid that Nico’s legendary adorableness will outshine her own?”

“I don’t get it.”

“It’s alright, Nico understands. After all, nobody can match the cuteness of the No. 1 Idol in the Universe.”

“We’ll see about that.” Maki crossed her arms in defiance. “When it comes to looks, there’s no way I’d lose to someone like you.”

“So, it is to be a beauty contest then?” Nico smirked. “Perhaps we should have the magazine have the fans vote?”

“Fine.”

“Fine.” The twin-tailed girl scrawled the theme on the board, but when she got to their names, she added hearts and a smiley face by her own and an angry face near Maki’s.

“Hey.” Maki protested.

Nico merely stuck out her tongue in response.

Eli made eye contact with Nozomi and mouthed “Are you sure about this?”

Nozomi simply smiled in return.

“So there we have it.” Nico declared. “Seven themes and a pairing for each.”

Maki grumbled something unintelligible.

“Unless there are changes anyone would like to make, I’ll email these to the photographer later tonight.”

“Looks good to me!” Rin said.

“Then the meeting is adjourned.” Nico glanced at the clock. “And it went quicker than I thought it would.”

“So we still have time for practice?” Honoka asked, getting fired up.

“That appears to be the case.” Eli stated. “Let’s get changed.”

Several girls cheerfully voiced their agreement.

Author’s Note Continued: As mentioned above, this was supposed to be a NicoMaki Valentine’s Day scene; one that doesn’t take place on Valentine’s Day, or anywhere near it, for that matter. I wanted to quickly give a review of the sets prior to the NicoMaki pair and maybe mention a few after, but the focus was supposed to be the Valentine’s pair. But I kept finding myself getting sidetracked as the girls discussed things. And I decided I liked where everything was going. The fact that the conversation kept meandering off course just felt very fitting to me. Thus, the scene evolved into something broader that ended up doing a little worldbuilding and mentioned a few of my headcanons.

One of said headcanons that I hold, and have tried to make mention of in other scenes thus far, is that Kotori only makes the costumes for the Lives by herself; or with Nico, Eli, and/or Hanayo’s help. With as many outfits as the girls have worn in SIF thus far, I simply cannot see it as being feasible that the budget of nine high school girls could afford all of the material needed. Not even with the backing of club funds from a school on the verge of being shut down. And not just money, but time, or rather the shortage there of, would also be a major factor. Thus, for many of the photoshoots, the company taking the pictures provides the base outfits and tailor them to fit. Kotori and the others then work with the company to gussy them up with accessories.

And on the topic of SIF, in case I haven’t mentioned it before, it does not exist in the world of HtHaN. In its place is a series of photoshoots that are used in idol magazines. I intend to work in some of the side stories for the cards as entries in said magazines. Some of the main story themes may find their way into HtHaN at some point as well.

I’m not sure I want to put pics of all 35 mentioned cards here. Instead, if anyone who does not play SIF would like to see everything, or anyone who does play but would like a trip down memory lane to the early days, here is a link to the URs. Clicking on each card will drop down a menu with more information about it, as well as provide a link to the entire collection, in case you want to see Maki in her China dress, Nico in a yukata or whatever.

For those non-SIF-playing readers, “UR” stands for “Ultra Rare,” the highest level of rarity in the SIF. In the early days, each set included seven SRs - Super Rare - and two URs. The URs were given special backgrounds that could be lined up to form a complete picture. A bit more recently, a new level of rarity, the SSR - Super Super Rare - was added between the SR and UR levels. These new cards were given backgrounds like the URs, but thus far, none line up with, well, anything. From a photoshoot perspective, it is as if the two girls in the URs had their pictures taken at the same time while those posing for the SSRs were taken at a different time, from a different angle and in a different location in the overall scene.

Of course, as SIF does not exist in HtHaN, so too are URs absent, thus why the girls refer to the chosen pairings by other terms. Also, at this point the URs are the only special ones, but a scene like Ice Queen focused on the newer SSRs. I’m not entirely sure how I want to work the distinction between the two into the story, but I do intend for it to exist in some way.

Unintentionally Going to Second Base

Notes on chapter: In which Sakura and Sasuke suddenly take their relationship to the next level.

Rating: T, very slight M

It shouldn't have bothered him.

It really shouldn't have.

Come to think of it, this should've come naturally.

And it shouldn't have made him this uncomfortable.

It shouldn't.

But it did.

Uchiha Sasuke finds himself completely frozen the exact moment her soft skin makes contact with his. And it takes him a millisecond to realize what he had just done. And another for his whole body to feel overbearingly warm.

His dark locks drip lightly on her exposed sun-kissed shoulders as they rode the harsh waves that covered them just above their knees. The arm he has around her involuntary tightens as he pulls her closer to his hard form.

And she gasps, she just gasps when the reality of the situation finally dawns on them.

The fact that they were currently facing the rest of Rookie Nine, plus Sai and Team Gai.

The fact that everyone was just gaping at them.

And the fact that Uchiha Sasuke currently had both his hands on Haruno Sakura's breasts.

Her white bikini top floats slyly by a few meters away.

He wonders how it managed to stray so far in such a short while.

And the former wanderer berates himself inwardly for having been too stunned to think of any other way than this.

There were a lot of possibilities actually.

He could've just pushed her under the water, it might have hurt, but she was a strong kunoichi who had experienced worst.

Or he simply could've flashed in front of her, the people at the sidelines would have seen but at least... No,...no one was allowed to see.

Or maybe

He could've just burned down the volleyball net to have all of them look at something else.

But nope.

The moment his girlfriend's bikini string started unwinding as she jumped up to hit the ball with her powerful fist,

(The volleyball by the way, ended up hitting Rock Lee on the face, though the Konoha beast wasted no time in praising the cherry blossom for being blessed with the spring of youth.)

And the moment her slim form made contact with the ocean's waters as she lets out a victorious "Shannaro!",

Her pearly white, oh, and strapless bathing suit came undone.

And as those skimpy traitors began to slide an inch down, Sasuke couldn't help but let his instinct take him to his probably oblivious teammate. However, instead of pushing the garment back to her sexy physique, his hands ended up under them...

That was how it happened.

That was how his hands (He thanks his past self for finally giving in to the pinkette's request of accepting the artificial limb.) ended up in the most embarrassing position they ever found themselves in while in public.

Over Sakura's boobs.

For the first time.

With their friends' shocked faces there to witness it.

And Sasuke almost whines. He almost whines.

"Teme?!"

"What the hell Uchiha? Akamaru! Don't look!"

"Oh my beloved cherry blossom, your purity has been tainted."

"Traitor. You're a pervert."

"Sakura-san... "

"Oh my forehead! He finally made a move!"

"This is... troublesome."

"Naruto-kun, did you... see it?"

"Shut up for a minute!"

Her enraged voice shakes his whole person, and her erratic breathing prompts his heart to try to catch up to it. Sasuke couldn't think of anything to say. Nothing at all. She was gonna punch him. She was so gonna punch him. He looks up to the sky and allows his mismatched irises to relax as they focus on the seagulls floating above them.

Might as well enjoy it, his hormones tell him. She'll never let him near her again. Or she'll probably tear his limbs off. He was after all, groping her... at a beach,... with their friends around them... So... he tells himself to calm down and to wait for the impact. To allow himself to finally take a minute to assess how his koibito feels like.

Soft.

Full.

Perky.

Just the right fit in his hands.

and

Perky.

Real perky.

On the outside, he was a total mask of absolute indifference. It almost seemed like what he did had no effect on him at all.

But it did.

It really did.

For some time now, with their tongues in each other's mouths, and their hands exploring their partner's bodies but never quite reaching the next step, Sasuke had wondered how she'd feel like. How Sakura would actually respond to his forward touch... A part of him he wishes to ignore twitches at the thought.

"Sasuke-kun..."

He gulps down his nervousness.

"Sasuke you idiot! Release Sakura-chan's boobs!"

Their blonde teammate's irritating screech dispels his ears' ringing and Sasuke, by brotherly instinct, stupidly decides that it is the right moment to bicker with him.

"If I do, you'll see my girlfriend's breasts."

"Yeah, but I, you..." an uncontrollable blush graces the Jinchuuriki's cheeks.

"Idiots. If you guys don't turn around right this second, I swear that all of you, except the girls, will have broken bones by the time I'm done with you.

And that's when everybody, including the females, face the opposite way to give the couple some privacy.

For some reason, Sasuke feels completely alone now.

And though he enjoys being alone with the young pinkette, this situation actually scares him a little. So he takes a deep breath.

"Uhm. Sasuke-kun?"

Her soft voice, again, stirs his insides. He is sure that she is blushing right now.

"Sakura."

"What is your next p-plan?"

She stutters and the young Uchiha blushes with the fact that she was also unsure of what to do.

And the fact that his hands were still holding her soft... soft...

"Ne, we have to do something, the waves carried it far so quickly."

"Hn."

He tilts his head to the side and spots the offending garment floating on the other side of the net, approximately thirty-two feet away from...

Naruto.

Of all people.

"I guess we can try wading into the waist-deep part of the beach? And I can just sit and cover... uhm... myself, while you go get it for me? Onegai."

He subtly nods his head and starts taking a step to his right.

"Wait."

The confused young man stiffens again.

"Could you... let go of me?"

.

"Other people will see."

It had occurred to him that they were not the only people on the beach, inevitably, their little spectacle had attracted a few civilians.

"Right..."

He takes another step and she follows him. In truth, it only really took them about nine steps to get to where they wanted, but it seemed like an eternity. And as Sasuke checked his surroundings to make sure that the coast was clear and that his girlfriend was submerged in water for anyone else to see her state of undress, the sharingan wielder, carefully, and a bit regretfully takes his hands off her.

It wasn't how he envisioned it, going to second base with her.

But as Uchiha Sasuke bends down to get her white bikini top, his hands wouldn't stop shaking, and his pulse wouldn't stop throbbing, and the heat, the heat would not go away.

There was no turning back now.

He decides that he will definitely make things better for them.

The next time he touches her will be in the confines of their bedroom.

And it wouldn't be by accident and in mortification.

It would be special.

He would make sure of it.

He did after all book the largest suite for the both of them during this summer trip.

Here's a little announcement for my plans for my future SasuSaku fics. I've already typed up most of the next chapter of "Revolution" and will hopefully be uploading it soon. I have a new story coming up too. It will be a multi-chapter fic which will have a different circumstance after the Fourth War. It will also feature one of my artworks. I'm also planning to write a one or three-chapter story about what happened between chapter 16 and 17 of Sorega ai deshou. (I wanna know if anyone is interested in reading that.) And another relating to the "White Wine, Bitter Sunlight Series" which will tie up all loose ends.

Most of these stories have been typed up or have concept outlines but i do hope I'll be able to share them soon. Again, thank you all for reading and especially for your reviews! They continue to inspire me to keep writing.

Oh, for my Love & Roll fic, I know you guys already have an idea what its basic plot is. I have a couple of ideas but would like to hear about yours too. Maybe like a prompt or something?

For Miku, I really like more unique modules. Her Snow Miku 2017 is absolutey GORGEOUS. I also liked Snow Miku 2016 because it was so different than the others. Sakura Miku is cute, too. I also really like her Persona 4 Dancing All Night module, TYPE2020, Infinity, Interviewer, Sonic, and even her Rainbow P Modules. Fuck her pajama module, though. That hair.. Oof. If I have to pick one, it’d be TYPE2020.

For best girl Rin, Alparka R takes the cake. I don’t even need to explain why. Her pajama module is fucking adorable, and Asymmetry R, EoE, Heat Haze, Moon Sakura, Future Style, and even her Tan swimsuit module are a few of my favorites, too. I sometimes find myself falling for her Shake It! module, too. Choosing just one, it’s obviously Alparka. 

I don’t have a lot for Len, but they’re definitely there. I guess School Jersey is pretty cute on him, Moon Feng is the best hands down, White Edge is cool, and crane suits him. His pajama module is the purest thing to ever happen to him. Moon Feng is my favorite of all of them, though. 

Luka has a lot of gorgeous modules, to be honest. She looks beautiful as ever in all her swimsuits, but some of my favorites include Chiffon One Piece, Blossom, Eternal White, Nagisa, Interviewer, Cat Ears Hoodie, her Railroad Conducter (1925), and Loose Fluffy Coat. I will say though, her V4X module is absolutely STUNNING. For it being something she defaultly wears, it’s fucking incredible. The best is Cat Ears Hoodie though and you can fight me if you disagree. 

Kaito doesn’t have a lot, in my book. His V3 is really cute, and I also like how unique his Requiem looks. Violet is cute, and others include School Uniform Parka, Holiday (call me basic but he’s gorgeous in that), Phantom Thief, 1925, and I like how much freedom he gets when it comes to his swimsuits, too (you know which one I’m talking about). Favorite so far is 1925 just for that adorable fucking scarf.

Meiko is such a fucking QUEEN SHE HAS SO MANY CUTE MODULES. I just wish she had more variety. :/ Let’s get this out of the way, Like Luka, she’s gorgeous in swimsuits. Fluffy Coat is cute, Taisho Romance is very exotic looking, I like how flashy Modern Girl looks, and Lorelei is stunning. More favorites are Border Break, Whistle, Noel Rouge, CA, Blue Crystal, Wooly Wear, 1925, Phantom Thief, and her PAJAMA MODULE, DUDE. THE BEST OUT OF ALL OF THEM, HANDS FUCKING DOWN. 

Haku looks cute in everything, but my favorite is Cyber Dive. 

Neru’s Ethnic looks stunning on her. 

Sakine’s Black One Piece is gorgeous. 

Queen Teto needs more modules, but the best is M.S.J.

Kuroo Tetsurou and Kashima Yuu?

I WAS GONNA GO TO BED BUT YOU HIT ME W/ SUCH GOOD CHARACTERS…IM IRRESPONSIBLE BUT I FEEL SO ALIVE

kuroo!! my darling cat son!!

First impression - believe it or not i had to take time to warm up to kuroo. it seems crazy bc he’s one of my favorites in the whole series now, but at first i was fooled by his external appearance and thought he was sketchy. i didn’t know what his game was, and i didn’t like that shit lmao. then my sister assured me kuroo’s just a big nerd who loves making puns and helping his kouhai and then training camp really cemented my growing love for him.

Impression now - He’s Always This Kind and he’s one of my very favorite haikyuu characters. like with hinata, i’m super comfy writing him both as a narrator and a side character - his dialogue comes really naturally to me. he makes me laugh a lot & also i believe in him

Favorite moment - “ah…i can tell this guy’s a JERK” when he meets daichi, as per the english translation, which does away with that “cunning type” noise and cuts right to the insults lmao. also that part where he goes “wait shit idk what i was talking about, i confused myself.” that says a lot about him. also every time he pulls off a cool block and there’s a panel/frame of him looking like an absolute maniac lmao

Idea for a story - like i said in my answer abt kenma, i start each new day with more kuroken content lol. kuroo’s a side character in two ensemble fics i’m working on right now, a college au and a fantasy au. in the former he paints. in the latter he’s a magical cursebreaker. in both he annoys the narrating characters and generally behaves like an annoying nuisance. it’s pretty rad.

Unpopular opinion - ~sexy suave kuroo~ is the worst headcanon ever lmao. like, i get it, he looks sketchy, ok, but he’s got a good heart. he’s a smooth talker, sure, but the second anyone flirted back at him he’d self-destruct. let’s be real with ourselves. he started shit with yaku over which girl in an idol group is the best, he’s a loser, the end, the prosecution rests, etc

Favorite relationship - me, still trying to find room in my pockets for all my kuroken fics: uhhhhh. tbh i love kuroo’s dynamics with lots of characters, even though his rapport with kenma is my favorite. i love bokuto and kuroo’s antics and how kuroo is always ready to drag bokuto at a moment’s notice and how they can duke it out on the court but also chill and be bros no problem. and i kinda really love his friendship with daichi. i always see them as like. ok if you asked them they’d never admit they were friends, but if one was in serious trouble the other would help, no questions asked. i love making them roommates in my college aus and having them squabble over everything. kuroo and daichi roommate adventures include: kuroo eating snacks daichi bought, and then daichi stealing kuroo’s wallet and using his credit card to buy replacement snacks; daichi scouring their bathroom looking for the hair gel he’s POSITIVE kuroo uses bc that CAN’T actually be bedhead; kuroo playing “careless whisper” on the bluetooth speaker every time suga comes over to hang w/ daichi, and then daichi getting him back by blasting “my best friend’s hot” when kenma comes over; and daichi threatening to kill kuroo in his sleep at least 3 times a day.

Favorite headcanon - i touched on a couple, like kuroo instantly dying when/if anyone tried to flirt with him, and also i bet his hair is like that bc he showers at night and sleeps with pillows around his head and it messes it up so it dries funny. furudate, validate me!! also: kuroo ends up with the laziest, oldest, meanest cat in the whole world who loves him but hates every other life form on this planet. kenma is locked in eternal conflict with this damn cat competing for kuroo’s affections.

KASHIMAAAAAA

First impression - shit i don’t even remember…i watched all of gsnk in like a week, i was on vacation and watched one or two eps a night right before bed lmao. i definitely liked how kashima and mikorin can enjoy their friendship even though she beats him in every aspect, and that fucking part where kashima goes to that mixer in mikorin’s place and just STEALS ALL THE GIRLS…TIMELESS

Impression now - bisexual menace and i love her, but someone’s gotta stop her. the last gsnk volume i read had that arc where she had to stop talking to hori for a week and got all dramatic about it, it’s just like. my god. how do they not know they’re in love

Favorite moment - the mere idea that “we can’t tell kashima about the manga bc then all her fangirls will mob the place and we’ll never get anything done” cracks me up every time. also that part where hori just yanks her out of the crowd of girls with umbrellas and drags her dumb ass home, and also when she thinks wakamatsu is a perv for hanging out w/ a bunch of girls buying swimsuits, and also chiyo panicking and screeching at kashima “SENPAI IS REPAYING NOZAKI-KUN WITH HIS BODY.” every part of gsnk is good OKAYIdea for a story - here’s an idea, let kashima and hori go on a date. that’s all i got bc that’s all i want

Unpopular opinion - shrugs!!! my gsnk opinions are pretty much just “they should kiss” and “i fucking love gekkan shoujo nozaki-kun, holy fuck”

Favorite relationship - i mentioned shipping kashima and hori, and i mentioned how i liked kashima and mikorin’s clearly unbalanced friendship lol, and i also like kashima and sakura’s friendship! im stil laughing over sakura thinking kashima was a dude and being super worried abt having feelings for anyone besides nozaki, and then being like “oh good she’s a girl! i’m safe!” lol

Favorite headcanon - listen gsnk is the gift that keeps on giving, i barely have to make headcanons. but i bet kashima rocks that short hairdo not bc she knew it’d be stylish or she’s trying to go for a specific image, but bc she’s lazy and short hair means less styling. everyone is probably super disappointed by this practical reasoning, it’s such a letdown.
