Hip against the table, that gets his attention. “Hey.”

Sam looks up from his notes. “Hey?” Quizzical, with his eyes slipping away for a split second to check the clock on the far wall. “I thought you’d come get me at six.”

Dean shrugs one shoulder. “Guy can’t change his mind? It’s a free country.”

That gets him one of those puppy frowns, some frankenemotion of amusement and annoyance, with some suspicion thrown in the mix. “Well, I’m not done.”

Dean is already pulling back a chair, legs scraping over dark grey carpet floors. “That’s cool, I’ll wait.” He sits, chair groaning as Sam shrugs and returns his attention to the book in front of him. Not even a ‘sure, whatever’.

But that’s fine, that’s cool. Dean can wait.

He looks at the wall, watches the clock tick away silently at the next minute. He looks at the carpet floors, wonders how many stains have soaked into the carpet and if any would show up under black light. He looks at the books, tries to guess their topic without moving in closer. He looks at Sam.

The seams of his shirt are pulled tight, crinkling a little. It’s Dean’s, used to be, some vague shade of dark blue that always looked better on Sam. Rolled up, too, the ass, and stretched over his biceps. His forearms are tan and strong, he’s fidgeting with his pen as he reads. The rhythmic click-clack of his pen should be annoying, but it just draws the eye to his long fingers. When Dean flicks his gaze up, it sticks to the shadows under Sam’s collar, the dip between his collar bones. Shoulders, the golden shimmer on his chin where the neon light catches in his afternoon stubble. His Cupid’s bow. The mole on his cheek.

“Hey.”

Hum, no real answer. Sam flips a page, circles something in his tattered spiral notebook.

“Hey.” Dean kicks his chair.

“What?” Annoyed, this time. Sam glances over, long lashes and a furrow between his brows.

But Dean is leaning in already. One hand rests on the table, crinkling paper under his palm. The tip of his nose brushes Sam’s cheek, then he fits their mouths together.

Sam tastes like Sam, like a day at the library, like dusty carpets and the scent of books. Like the aftertaste of coffee, like neon lights and surprise. Dean nips, coaxes. His neck aches, his lower back pulses with pain, but he doesn’t pull back until Sam returns the kiss, until he rests a warm palm on Dean’s cheek and everything tastes like Sam, Sam, Sam. Until the book slips off the table and bounces on the carpet floors. Forgotten.

At the end of the day you can use "Varric is an unreliable narrator" to overwrite literally any part of DA2 that you don't like. Like you can say, "Oh of COURSE Varric isn't actually against mage freedom! He just said that he objected to Hawke freeing the mages because Cassandra was interrogating him." And sure, I can't prove to you that he isn't lying about that. I can't prove to you that Varric isn't lying about anything. I can't prove to you that the entirety of Inquisition isn't also Varric making things up because he did also write a book about that and we hear Cassandra reading it in the end credits. At the end of the day if you want to you can basically wipe out Varric's entire character as presented to us and say, "Actually he was lying! He's really this."

But at a certain point you do also have to acknowledge that the frame narrative is a storytelling device that's meant to enhance the story, not like... erase it. Or at least I prefer to acknowledge that, because going too far the other way basically guts the story of all meaning. If Varric is a character we are meant to engage with on any level--and I think it's clear from his prominence in the franchise that he is!--then at least some of what we see him say and do needs to be able to meaningfully interpreted, even if we second-guess him, even if we can pick out half-truths here and there, even if we cross-check our interpretations against how he behaves in other parts of canon.

Like at least some of what we're given about Varric has to be meaningful to his character, or why even bother, I guess is what I'm saying.

or write it in a normal document editor and save it as a normal pdf which literally all formatable document editors let you do, and which allows you to save the thing in the programme you're already using?

literally it's a two click save process in every document editor I've ever touched. there are certainly advantages to using a specific typesetting package but frankly for something like a CV the time it takes to familiarise yourself with a new programme isn't worth the improvement you'll get from it. and I'm speaking as someone who makes my CV in InDesign BUT! that's because I Am Already Using InDesign.

save your CV as a pdf so the formatting doesn't get fucked. you can do this by going to 'save as' 'pdf'. it will look exactly as good as most people's CVs need to which is to say - tidy, readable, with line breaks, page breaks and margins where you put them. not everything requires the cleverest available tool sometimes it requires the Easiest Way To Not Fuck Things Up.

so usually when im following dialogue trees i have to take notes bc its pretty hard to keep track of everything when ur jumping from one json object to the next but luckily i have my good friend python programming language and the its built in json package to make things easier <3
