Chapter 1: The Wonderful Journey — Go to the Firework Isles!

To start this quest, head over the the Mayor's Residence in Florawish.

Go into the Mayor's Residence and talk to Grace. She'll fill you in on what's going on and send you over to Marques Boutique by the Wish Tree.

Marques Jr. isn't there, so you end up talking to Marques Sr. He'll give you the gift you came to pick up. Next you'll be on your way to the Flora Wharf in order to meet David and take his boat to Firework Isles.

When you board the boat, you'll get to see a nice little cutscene of you going to Firework Isles for the first time.

When you arrive at Firework Isles, you'll receive some new quests. This is a whole new area to explore, so take your time with it and have fun. The next part of this quest leads us to Camp Kaboom where we will meet up with Mr. Manague to hand over the gift we're delivering and check on the current situation at the Isles.

After handing over the gift and talking to Mr. Manague, you'll go around and talk to some people to get an idea of what's going on in this new area. It'll end with us meeting a girl named Opera and Marques Jr. Shortly after their meeting, an explosion happens, which sends you back to Mr. Manague for answers.

When you start speaking with Mr. Manague, Marques Jr. will show up saying that Opera is now missing after the explosion.

When looking around for Opera, Scintillada shows up with a letter from her that Nikki reads. This ends the quest.

I have a bad startle response and a synesthesia where sudden/loud noises light up my eyes like milquetoast fireworks. It doesn’t happen if I’m expecting the noise. But oh, if I don’t have my white noise running and it’s a quiet night, I can hear a train horn when I’m trying to sleep, even if the tracks are over a mile away. Nope, it’s like I’ve been flashed with a spotlight in the face.

But it doesn’t happen if I’m expecting noise.

If you find fireworks a trial, try playing death metal through noise cancelling headphones. It’ll work much better than white noise / brown noise to blurr out the worst of the percussive shock of it.

It's almost 3 in the afternoon, so I'm pretty sure enough people have seen the fireworks event, so here are some pictures I took from it. Of course, under a cut, so I don't spoil it for anyone who hasn't seen it!

Apartment #11

When me and my family just immigrated to San Diego, California USA. Me and my family live in Aunt Kim's and Uncle David's apartment, "Apartment #1" for multiple weeks.

After those multiple weeks, me and my family live in the same apartment building, but a different apartment, "Apartment #11". It is an 1 bedroom apartment on the second floor, 2 Floor (2F). Me, Du, Ho, and Nghim sleep in the living room. Bun and Lieng sleep in the bedroom.

There were very few times I woke up by the nightmares in my sleeps late in the night. While I'm awake, I could sees Nghim at her desk. She is struggling by using a Chinese to English Dictionary to understand the English writing important documents (paper works) related to the USA immigration and school enrollment. I would stopped myself from crying about the nightmares I had. Because I could tells she is really stress out about those important documents.

Around November 1993, I don't know the whole story. My father, Chung Wun Lam found out that my aunt, Kim Lao wanted my mother, Sok Nghim Hoi to remarry and have a new husband.

So, Chung wrote a letter to Aunt Kim. From what I heard that letter have bad words cussing at Aunt Kim. Also, threaten her to stop trying break up our family. He send that letter to Nghim and told Nghim to hand that letter to Aunt Kim.

After Aunt Kim read that letter, she got into an argument with him in the long distance telephone call.

From what I heard, that letter and that argument created conflicts between our family and Aunt Kim's family. Those conflicts is our family have to choose to agree with our father or to agree with Aunt Kim's family.

To me, I still remember Aunt Kim picking up our family at the San Diego airport. Also, our family living in Aunt Kim's apartment for multiple weeks. But, our father have been a fatherly figure in Sand Be and the capital city, Ho Chi Minh.

Even though, Aunt Kim's family is the only connection our family have in San Diego, but Chung favorited me as his favorited son, so I have to agree with Chung.

Like I wrote above, I don't know the whole story. Also, I don't hate Aunt Kim's family. I just want to agree with Chung.

In addition, whenever I sees Sandy at the CPES campus, I would pretend that letter and Chung versus Kim argument didn't happen. Vice-versa, I think Sandy felt the same way as me.

Apartment #7

Around May 1994, Chung immigrated to the USA. After Chung immigrated to the USA, our family move from Apartment #11 to Apartment #7 in the same apartment building.

Apartment #7 is a 2 Bedroom apartment on the second floor, 2 Floor (2F). Chung and Nghim sleep in the first bedroom. Bun and Lieng sleep in the second bedroom. Me, Ho, and Du sleep in the living room.

In Book 1 Chapter 3, "Consultant Meeting" section, I wrote that in Sand Be, in Chung's consultant meeting, I would try to hide about I had became a leader leading children in Sand Be.

He have immigrated to San Diego. I have been acclaimed as the champion in the unofficial junior local Empty Handed Combat league. Also, I'm leading the students in the CPES campus by showing those students how to manage and regulate that league.

I would run over to him and gave him a hug like in Sand Be, when he return from his Hong Kong trips. At the same time, I would put to the side. I have became a champion. Me and my classmates are regulating the Empty Handed Combat league. And, I'm leading students in the CPES campus.

The argument is if I have a supportive father who have been very supportive on everything I do, then do I need to became a champion, regulating league, and leading students?

I would argues it is hard to try to forget seeing those scenes where orphans watching parents buying ice-creams for their children.

In "Happiness Faraway" section, I wrote the following: After the USA Immigration, my father would tell me, Ho, and Du. To forget about the things he told us and forget about the things I know in Vietnam. Because he doesn't have the wealth, power, status, and connections as he have in the Asia continent. Also, he doesn't speak the English language, so he can't help us.

Even though, he wasn't always there for me. And, because he don't have a lot of power in USA, so he won't able to support me on the things I do. But, I would argues that I can't expected people to be in my shoe and able to understand how I'm feeling about my father. Yet, I'm very glad to sees my father.

In Book 1, I wrote about during the hug each times when he return from his Hong Kong trips. Me and him would laugh and have a great time about his Rock-Paper-Scissor game trick.

In the San Diego hug, he told me I probably won't laugh and have a great time about his Rock-Paper-Scissor game trick anymore.

It is a fatherly way to imply that it is a tough country to live in. I have to be smarter and wiser than before. So that implication is equivalent to a compliment that I have grown smarter and wiser.

How did he know I have became a champion, he was in Vietnam?

All Day Hike

Occasionally, me, Ho, and Chung would go on all day hikes as a way reconnect from the years we were apart.

Our father have wealth, power, status, and connections in Asia continent. He have done many noble deeds and he is a highly acclaimed figure.

Whatever me and Ho have went through in the USA in those years when our father is not around it is the will of the sky. But, sometime when a person is facing too much pressures or overwhelming odds that person could change into a person that he doesn't want to becomes. Or, being possessed by a person he doesn't wanted to be possessed by.

During the all day hike, he would pick up broken glasses, thorns, nails, pins, and sharp objects in general on the hiking trails.

He would told us.

"The sky watch over the world. See everything people have done. It is a noble deed to pick up sharp objects on the ground. Because if people accidentally step on it, then those people could get cut in their feet. The same with bicycle's tire. The bicycle's tire cut by it will have a flat tire.

No one will see you do these noble deeds. But, you are not doing it so people would see you doing noble deeds. You are doing it for the sky.

It is the sky's will to have plans for all of us. Just remember that the sky see everything."

Only the sky see us doing noble deeds. Otherwise, we are 3 immigrants. New to the country. Not important enough to be notice.

During the hike, he would feed the birds with bread crumbs and crackers. He would told us the same thing as pickup up the sharp objects on the ground. "The sky see everything. You are doing the noble deeds for the sky."

I would argues because me and Ho are very glad to see our father again, so whatever he is doing we are following him. At the same time, we think is the right things to do. In addition, me and Ho are very glad about able to spend some time with our father. Otherwise, the argument is it is just hiking around.

During July 4, 1994, he told us. That in the morning of July 5th, me, Ho, and him going to hike from 4 AM to 6 PM.

Start at the bay shore of Crown Point park. Keep the trail on the bay shore as much as possible. We will be passing through some parks and bays on this trail. Going through the multiple parks and bays would be around 10 miles. From the parks and bays, we would travel to the Mission beaches. From the Mission beaches we would travel all the way to the Pacific Beach (PB) beaches. From the PB beach, we would go through the shopping center on the Garnet avenue until we reach our apartment.

[Firecrackers In Sand Be Flashback Begin]

In Sand Be, during Chinese New Year, most of the houses would celebrate by igniting firecrackers. Most of the time, igniting firecrackers happen house by house. Me and the children would go house by house waiting for the firecrackers to happen. When the firecrackers happen, once it come to an end, me and children would rush in and pick up the firecrackers on the ground that have not been ignited. After going to many houses, most of the time I would have a bag of firecrackers.

If you have a bag of firecrackers or more, then you could join the firecrackers war. The children will break into multiple teams in the firecrackers war. The only team remain in the war win the war.

The rule is simple just ignite and toss firecrackers at each other. If you felt that you are being tossed with too many firecrackers, then you could give up. A person who give up is eliminated from the war.

Accident does happen. There are children ignited the firecrackers and didn't toss it in time. So, the firecrackers exploded in their hands. Most of the time, those children would be in tears and crying. Crying count as you give up. So, you eliminated yourself when you cry.

[Firecrackers In Sand Be Flashback End]

July 4, Independence Day is a little different than Chinese New Year. Because there are only a little bit of firecrackers. But, a lot of fireworks. Those firecrackers and fireworks usually are ignited around the bay shore area.

Walking on the bay shore and seeing the firecrackers and fireworks on ground. Reminded me of children rushing in to pick up firecrackers on the ground during Chinese New Year.

Coincidentally, we were able to pick up some firecrackers and fireworks that haven't ignited.

Even though, Chung could sees me and Ho pick up those firecrackers and fireworks on the ground. But, me and Ho would hide them from Chung.

At the bay shore areas, there are firepits. Those firepits are for people to use as campfire. Most of the time, people would ignite their firecrackers and fireworks around the firepits.

On a lot of those firepits, people would leave things behind. Most of those things are trashes.

We saw multiple fairly new blankets. A few electronic devices that needed a little bit of fixing. Recyclable things. And, so on. So, we would pick up those reusable things.

Because the bay shoe area the trail is made out sands, so it is really hard to push a shopping cart on those sands. At around 11:00 AM, we got out of the bay shore area. We immediately find a shopping cart, so we don't have to carry all those things we found. After the bay shore area, we would take turn pushing the shopping cart.

After finding a shopping cart, we haven't eat anything for the whole morning, so we decided to have our breakfast-lunch at the "Burger King" hamburger restaurant. The Whopper for $1 is arguable as the best hamburger deal in San Diego. Chung gave me and Ho $3 and told us to go inside "Burger King" and ordered 3 hamburgers to go. Chung would wait outside with the shopping card.

Me and Ho ordered 3 Whoppers to go inside "Burger King". Then, we would find a spot where we could sit down and eat our Whoppers.

The fireworks event in Aviary Village is here! It occurs every 3 hours & I’d arrive just about 4 minutes before the event started. I recorded just about the whole event while staying close to the spirits, it’s Not perfect.
