Lyrically I adored “Welcome to the Circus”, they shone through but the music I just really had that feeling that I’ve heard something too similar to what they’ve already done which is a similar feeling with “Afterlife”. “Roll Dem Bones” I have to give it up, it hooked me in, I haven’t been that hooked since I first heard “Dying Breed”, in your face and quick, tasty melodic chorus, if anything from the album at least I can highly commend them lyrically here. Originally I wasn’t fond of “IOU”, I can’t remember why because I love it now, I’ve been too quick to judgement I think with slapping I’ve heard this before onto it but actually it’s got character. “Times Like These” is definitely an arena song, I can already see the lighters and phones, feel the swaying and arms in the air, there’s going to be some voices heard singing along with that chorus. Following on with that vibe “Thanks For Asking” is a really solemn ballad, which to be fair is something FFDP can do very well, this one is another great one to add to their collection alongside “All I Know”, I’d like to give a mention to “The End” here however this one definite has overly familiar sounds and lyrics. “Gold Gutter” has a big kick, one of those snap your neck songs, the melody in the guitar riff in the chorus gives it a big feel with the contrast against the growls, one of my favourites this one. I was definitely coming into this one pessimistic and there are some elements which I think everybody could have predicted, however they have shown there is a bit more to them and it serves as a reminder of that, gotta give them credit for it they’ve come through.

A University of Massachusetts-Amherst student has been arrested for allegedly punching a Jewish student who was carrying an Israeli flag during a gathering held to call for the release of the over 240 people kidnapped by Hamas terrorists from Israel on Oct. 7 and taken to Gaza.
After the alleged punch, the assailant snatched the Israeli flag held by the Jewish student and spat on it, according to details of the incident reported by the Massachusetts Daily Collegian, the campus newspaper for UMass-Amherst.
The incident occurred on Friday but first came to light over the weekend, when the school’s Hillel chapter released a “security message” detailing what happened.
“Toward the end of the event [which was sponsored by Hillel], a student approached the gathering and walked through the crowd, aggressively giving people the middle finger,” the statement read. “After the event had concluded and event security had left, the same student returned to the site of the event and punched a Jewish student holding an Israeli flag, then took the flag and spit on it.”
UMass staff witnessed the incident, according to the school’s Hillel, which noted that a police report was filed and that UMass police arrested the individual.
“We know this incident is disturbing to many of us, particularly during a time when tensions, emotion, and concern are heightened on our campus,” Hillel added. “But we must not let the most extreme voices and actions create undue fear or dominate the campus climate. It is vital that our campus community model civility, as the Jewish community did on Friday in publicly and peacefully showing solidarity with the 240 hostages.”
The perpetrator was later released on bail, “with conditions prohibiting them from returning to campus,” according to a statement put out on Monday by university officials, who said the student will be subject to the legal consequences of their actions.
“What this student is accused of is reprehensible, illegal, and unacceptable,” said UMass vice-chancellors Shelly Perdomo-Ahmed and Tyrone Parham. “Antisemitism, Islamophobia, or any form of bigotry have no place in our community, and we are committed to ensuring that our community’s engagement with opposing viewpoints is maintained in a respectful manner.”
US college campuses have seen a sharp surge in antisemitic incidents — including violence, harassment, and other forms of discrimination against Jewish students — since Hamas terrorists invaded Israel on Oct. 7, murdered 1,400 people, mostly civilians, and took over 240 hostages back to the Palestinian enclave of Gaza.
Last month, for example, an Israeli student at Columbia University was beaten with a stick by another student who had been ripping off flyers with names and photos of Israelis that Hamas had taken as hostages.
Two weeks later, a melee ensued at Tulane University in New Orleans in which an anti-Israel activist broke a Jewish student’s nose.
Intimidation and death threats have increased as well. At Harvard University, a mob — some clad in Palestinian keffiyeh scarves — jostled and harassed a Jewish student as he walked across the campus. Among the mob was Ibrahim Bharmal, the editor of the prestigious Harvard Law Review — a publication whose past editors include former US President Barack Obama. At Cornell University, someone threatened on a social media forum to commit acts of murder, rape, and mass shooting against Jewish students and a kosher dining ball on campus. Patrick Dai, a 21-year-old engineering student at Cornell, was arrested on a federal complaint for allegedly making the threats. He faces up to five years in prison and  $250,000 fine.
Responding to the latest outrage at UMass-Amherst, the New England office of the Anti-Defamation League (ADL) said on Sunday that what happened is “an example of the disturbing reality for Jewish students on campus right now.”

So I know for a lot of people it's not really relevant anymore but it's something I saw a lot of for several years. So a while back I discovered a band called Five Finger Death Punch. For a while I heard nothing but great or moderate reviews of them. I got to a point I really enjoyed their music.
Over time, I started to see people shit on them, and several going so far as to say they "glorify" the military industrial complex.
I'm a prior. I served in the Air Force. None of their videos "glorify" anything of the sort. The military is made up of people. Humans just like you and me. And what I see from those songs and videos, is not anything other than support for the people who make up the armed forces. Not the complex. The real men and women who serve. The real men and women who die overseas.
People tend to forget. We are people too. We hurt like everyone else. Sometimes you do things you really don't want to. All for the purpose of protecting the ones you love back home. Be they friends, or family.
This is a song they did that's a cover of another song by The Offspring called Gone Away. Every time I see the video for this I struggle not to break down. It hurts. A lot. But they not only do the song justice, but the video is a great representation of how it feels. It's no an exaggeration. It's a display of what we really feel. What we really go through.
youtube
I don't care if you hate the US, hate the military, or even think this video is propaganda. Unless you've been here. You do not understand. And I kindly ask that you keep your tepid opinions to yourself.

Tagged by @commander-krios! <3
shuffle your favorite playlist and post the first five songs that come up. then copy/paste this ask to your favorite mutuals <3
Was kinda torn about this one; nearly went with Tyr's playlist because it's been a minute since I've listened to his, but I think I need to do some cleaning and tidying about it, some review, but I was thinking about my agents again because of agentposting in the swtor tag, so we'll go with Alucren's playlist! I don't think I've shared that one yet and I'm fairly pleased with it! (Full playlist on spotify!)
1.) Cover My traces - Reach [on spotify]
2.) Kick - Saint Chaos [on spotify]
3.) Mind Killer - Adam Freeland [on spotify]
4.) A Little Bit Off - Five Finger Death Punch [on spotify]
5.) Another Way to Die - Jack White & Alicia Keys [on spotify]
no-pressure tags! @captainderyn @kartaylirsden @sarenraegalpaladin @fatewalker-phoenix (and bonus for @dogdust2 I think you will like the playlist games)

Ope, ended up forgetting and doing this late. I feel like this is gonna become typical despite the whole point being I did it along with peoples' spotify lists coming out.
Anyway, this is my second year of doing 'year in review!' Since I listen to most of my music via Youtube I like to make a list of all the songs I've discovered for the first time this year. It's fun! I like to reflect on that new stuff I've found and enjoyed.
Here's last year's list! In comparison, it looks like this one's a few songs shorter. I also don't think I found any songs that came out this year, at least not any that I really enjoyed. Suppose I didn't look super hard, though...
Here's the tracklist for this year!
A Little Bit Off- Five Finger Death Punch
Lucid Dreams- Juice WRLD
Amnesia- Chumbawamba
Dance With Me Tonight- Olly Murs
The Great Pretender- The Platters
Revolution 909- Daft Punk
CYBER GANG- crossbeats Rev. Sunrise
Ordinaryish People- AJR & Blue Man Group
Houdini- Foster the People
Crossing the Line- Mandy Moore & Eden Espinosa
Ultra- KMFDM
I'm Gonna Kill Santa Claus- Danny Gonzales
Even if it's a little short, I like that I found stuff from a bunch of different sources. I found Houdini from my playthrough from Sackboy, where it played in one of the musical levels, I found Ultra off the track of the Street Fighter II movie, and Ordinaryish I got from a video that Rex sent me!
It was also nice to see more of the discography of bands I've already heard of but didn't know much about! Chumbawamba actually has a really good beat to a lot of their songs and I wish they weren't so often written off as just a one-hit wonder (also, have to say, Amnesia's chorus easily has one of the funniest choruses I've ever heard in a song, it's still funny just because it's so silly. I forgor...)
Once again terribly hard to pick a favorite, but I think A Little Bit Off wins by a narrow margin since it's such a good angry song for letting off steam. I first heard it back in January and have been since blaring it all year long.

Retaliators (2021): A Revenge Ride with a Twist (and Underused Villainy)
Title: The Retaliators
Genre: Horror/Action
Year: 2021
Country: United States
Plot Twisting Bullets: Buckle up for a genre-bender! Reverend Paul (Michael Lombardi), a grieving father, sets out to find his daughter's killers. His quest leads him down a dark path, uncovering a hidden world of violence and revenge. Brace yourself, because this seemingly straightforward revenge flick takes a sharp turn into the supernatural.
Acting All Around, But Not Enough Menace: While the cast delivers solid performances, it's a shame Joseph Gatt's villainous presence wasn't maximized. He oozes menacing charisma in his limited screen time, leaving you wanting more.
Solid, But Not Spectacular: The camerawork and sound design competently complement the narrative, without breaking any new cinematic ground.
A Father's Fury and a Glimpse of Missed Potential: The film shines in its lead performances. Lombardi portrays the anguish of a parent seeking retribution with raw conviction. Gatt, as mentioned earlier, captivates with his imposing screen presence. However, the "been-there-done-that" revenge plot feels uninspired. Movies like [insert similar movie title(s)] tread similar territory. The movie attempts to subvert expectations with a late-game twist, shifting from a revenge thriller to a supernatural horror.
A 3-Star Balancing Act: This critic lands on a 3 out of 5 star rating. While the acting and the twist manage to salvage the experience, the derivative revenge plot holds the film back.
Netizens: Divided We Stand: Reviews for "The Retaliators" are a mixed bag. Some viewers praise the action sequences and the unexpected genre shift, while others criticize the predictability of the initial plot.
Box Office Blues: With a reported budget of $4 million, the film only managed to rake in a meager $7,286 at the box office.
Factoring in the Fun Facts: Did you know several rock and metal musicians make cameos in the film? Tommy Lee, Papa Roach, and Five Finger Death Punch are just a few names you might recognize.
Overall: A Flawed But Enjoyable Ride: "The Retaliators" is a decent watch for fans of revenge thrillers with a penchant for the bizarre. While the plot lacks originality, the performances and the genre-bending twist offer a moderately entertaining experience.
