"Marilyn Manson returned to the live stage after a five-year hiatus. Between the pandemic and legal woes for Manson, it’s been a long break, and he seems fresher and happy to be in front of his fans again, even breaking a smile now and then. His current lineup of Tyler Bates, Gil Sharone, Piggy D. and Reba Meyers were on fire this night, delivering the goods and adding a real punch in the throat with their performance.
The 13-song set featured the mandatory songs like The Dope Show, Sweet Dreams Are Made of This, and the final encore, The Beautiful People. The rest of the set was an assortment from across his eleven studio albums as well as a new single, As Sick as the Secrets Within. At one point Manson stepped down into the pit and stood on the railing with his microphone stretched out to people singing in the crowd and high fived several fans.
Three shows into this 26-show tour and they’re firing on all cylinders and Manson seems grateful to be back and he’s now sober. I hope he’s beat his demons and he’s a changed man because he puts on a great show and his fans deserve this better version."

72 Seasons album opinion + my experience at M72 Tour in Madrid
72 Seasons is the eleventh studio album by the American heavy metal band Metallica, released on April 14, 2023. This album marks the band's first full-length release since 2016's "Hardwired... to Self-Destruct," as a collaborative effort between the band members and producer Greg Fidelman, who also worked on their previous album.
In this album we can observe a great growth in the band's music production, as we can appreciate Metallica's signature sound, blending thrash metal with elements of hard rock and progressive metal. It features heavy riffs, complex arrangements and powerful vocals, which show a vast development and maturity of their musical skills. From the first track, titled as the album, to the last one, Inamorata, we can notice the great energy transmitted with their powerful intros.
This album also has a meaning. The title "72 Seasons" refers to the first 18 years of a person's life, a period that significantly shapes who they become. The album delves into themes of childhood, personal growth, and the lasting impact of early experiences. I believe this also has a symbolic meaning that shows the transformation Metallica has had through the years.
The album generally received positive reviews from critics, who mostly praised James Hetfield's lyrics and vocal performance but criticized the album's song length and some repetitive song parts.
72 Seasons received three nominations at the 66th Grammy Awards, winning Best Metal Performance for the title track 72 Seasons.
In my view, 72 Seasons had influence from their previous album mentioned before, because they already have a firm model of song structure, with similar riffs, rhythms and vocals.
My favorite songs in this album are 72 Seasons, Screaming Suicide and Shadows Follow. Overall I enjoy this album because of their mature and perfect technique when playing their instruments and vocals, they have great harmony and strength. I would give this album a 9, only because of the repetitive parts in some songs. However in live these songs don't feel long at all, on contrary, they feel short.
On November 28, 2022, Metallica announced the album's title, release date, tracklist and a promotional tour of North America and Europe, featuring Pantera, Five Finger Death Punch and Architects among others, titled the M72 World Tour, and I had the honor to assist the M72 Tour in Madrid, at the Civitas Metropolitano Stadium. The concert lasted 3 hours divided on two days, 12th and 14th July 2024.
Both concerts had amazing visuals on stage screens for those who couldn’t see the members close enough, but even so I felt so close to them, because they really were playing for the crowd, giving a very comfortable and friendly environment. I’d like to highlight that both events started with the song The Ecstasy of Gold from the film The Good, the Bad and the Ugly, a moment that reminded me of Enter Sandman live in Moscow in 1991, the first video I saw from Metallica when I was 7 and moreover the largest concert in metal history. But we must not forget that the most important thing is how beautifully and dedicatedly they performed both concerts, which consisted in five songs from  72 Seasons, Ride the Lighting and Metallica, four songs from the Master of Puppets album, two songs from Reload, …And Justice for All, Kill ‘Em All and Death Magnetic, the unexpected song King of Nothing from the Load album and my personal favorite of the night, Moth Into Flame from Hardwired… To Self-Destruct.
This concert is something I'll never experience again, and I must say, 12th and 14th July 2024 will be forever the happiest days of my life, that’s why I’m writing this.
I hope you guys enjoyed my article and I’ll look forward to bring some more :) Also don’t forget to like and follow me on my socials.
much love xoxo
pd: photos aren't mine because my phone camera is shitty :( they're from their official Instagram (@metallica).

Watch: NIGHTWISH's FLOOR JANSEN Performs In Amsterdam As Support Act For METALLICA
Tumblr media
NIGHTWISH singer Floor Jansen performed earlier today (Saturday, April 29) at the Johan Cruijf Arena in Amsterdam, Netherlands as the support act for METALLICA. She was the last-minute replacement for FIVE FINGER DEATH PUNCH, which canceled its appearance because the band's singer Ivan Moody is recovering from a recent surgery to correct an acute hernia injury.
Fan-filmed video of Floor's performance can be seen below.
Jansen's debut solo album, "Paragon", arrived on March 24. The LP showcases the Dutch-born singer's impressive vocal range and powerful voice on a diverse collection of pop-infused tracks and emotional ballads influenced by the sounds of her career.
With its mix of influences and powerful vocal performances, "Paragon" is an album that will appeal to fans of pop music and metal alike.
As part of NIGHTWISH, Jansen has landed two number one albums in Finland, and Top Five albums in Austria, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, the Netherlands, Norway, Sweden and Switzerland.
Born in the Netherlands, Jansen joined her first band, one of the world's first symphonic metal bands, AFTER FOREVER, when she was only 16 years old. The group went on to release five albums from 2000 to 2007, before they broke up in 2009.
Jansen's next band, REVAMP, released two albums in 2010 and 2013, before she joined NIGHTWISH as a full-time member. NIGHTWISH's first album with Jansen as the lead singer was 2015's "Endless Forms Most Beautiful", which landed in Top 10s around the world. This was followed by 2020's "Human. :II: Nature." , which was also an international success.
Jansen has toured extensively with the band and appeared on three of NIGHTWISH's live albums "Showtime, Storytime", "Vehicle Of Spirit" and "Decades: Live In Buenos Aires".
In 2019, Jansen participated in the popular Dutch TV show "Beste Zangers" where she scored a big hit with "Phantom Of The Opera" together with Henk Poort. She was recognized with a Dutch Popprijs award — a prestigious accolade for artists that has made important contributions to Dutch music. In the same year, her first solo tour sold out in less than 24 hours.
Jansen performed live with NIGHTWISH for the first time on October 1, 2012 at Showbox Sodo in Seattle, Washington following the abrupt departure of the band's lead singer of five years, Anette Olzon. Jansen officially joined NIGHTWISH in 2013.

EPICA Replaces FIVE FINGER DEATH PUNCH As Support Act For METALLICA In Paris And Hamburg
Tumblr media
EPICA has replaced FIVE FINGER DEATH PUNCH as the support act for METALLICA on Wednesday, May 17 at Stade De France in Paris, France and on Sunday, May 28 at Volksparkstadion in Hamburg, Germany.
EPICA vocalist Simone Simons comments: "We are beyond excited to share the stage with the legendary METALLICA that has had a great influence on the whole music scene, including EPICA."
Earlier today (Monday, May 15),METALLICA wrote on social media: "Fresh off their successful Epic Apocalypse tour, @Epica will be stepping in for @FFDP on the #M72 World Tour on Wednesday in Paris and Sunday, May 28, in Hamburg. We're excited that they can join the ride."
FIVE FINGER DEATH PUNCH previously canceled its April 29 appearance at the Johan Cruijf Arena in Amsterdam, Netherlands as the support act for METALLICA. Replacing the Las Vegas-based act on the bill was NIGHTWISH singer Floor Jansen, who played a set in support of her recently released solo album "Paragon". At the time, FIVE FINGER DEATH PUNCH released statement via social media explaining that singer Ivan Moody's recovery from surgery to correct an acute hernia injury "proved more challenging than initially thought", forcing the band to pull out of the Amsterdam show. But FIVE FINGER DEATH PUNCH vowed to "perform ALL subsequent scheduled dates," including Paris.
METALLICA's "M72" world tour is featuring two-night stops in nearly two dozen cities. Presented worldwide by Liquid Death and Blackened American Whiskey (in North America only) and promoted by Live Nation, the 46-show trek launched in Amsterdam on April 27 and includes shows all over Europe and North America through 2024. Each "No Repeat Weekend" on "M72" will feature two completely different setlists and support lineups. The "M72" tour will feature a bold new in-the-round stage design that relocates the famed METALLICA Snake Pit to center stage, as well as the "I Disappear" full-tour pass and the debut of discounted tickets for fans under 16 years of age. Other opening acts for the tour include PANTERA, MAMMOTH WVH, ICE NINE KILLS, ARCHITECTS, VOLBEAT and GRETA VAN FLEET.

War Curse - Confessions
Hey, do you like Metallica? If so, I got a band for you! Actually, if you like 90s Metallica, you should listen to War Curse. They released a record recently called Confessions, and they started off as a thrash band in the vein of 80s Metallica, but Confessions moves into their 90s groove metal meets alt-metal and mainstream metal sound. Confessions is a good record, but I don’t have a lot to say about it, unfortunately. That’s not to say that this album is bad, but it’s awfully generic and predictable. There’s nothing on here that you won’t be surprised by, although it has some hooks and riffs. There are some thrashier cuts, but the album leans more into the groove metal and heavy metal sound that I was alluding to. If you want a good heavy album with some solid hooks and some cool riffs, you’ll dig this. This isn’t anything to write home about, but it’s worth hearing if you like this type of music.
Bad Wolves - Die About It
Bad Wolves is a band that shouldn’t be popular, and I don’t know why they are. I mean, I kind of get it, but their breakout “hit” was a hard-rock / butt-rock cover of The Cranberries’ “Zombie.” The cover was okay, but I never got into them. They had a bland groove metal, metalcore, and hard-rock sound that sounded like Five Finger Death Punch and all of those bands. They did it a bit better, and their debut was fine, but former vocalist Tommy Vext sucks. They do have a new vocalist now, D.L, and he’s been in the band for the last couple of years now. Their last album, 2021’s Dear Monster, is a decent album, but I found it very bland, boring, and not that memorable. Their new vocalist is great, and it bums me out that he doesn’t have much to work with. The same can be said here, too, with their new album, Die About It. This record is okay, and the vocals are great throughout this record, but my issue with this record is that there are three different types of songs here — hard-rock songs, metalcore / groove metal, and ballady songs. The issue is that all of the different types of songs sound the same, and the album just blends together, despite having a bit of a different sound. It doesn’t help that the lyrics aren’t that good, either, but I guess if you want a decent but generic hard-rock album, you’ll get what you’re asking for here.

FIVE FINGER DEATH PUNCH's IVAN MOODY Is 'Retiring From Heavy Metal'
FIVE FINGER DEATH PUNCH’s IVAN MOODY Is ‘Retiring From Heavy Metal’
Ivan Moody has a shocking announcement for the fans. He’s “retiring from heavy metal.” This is his last year fronting FIVE FINGER DEATH PUNCH, but it won’t be immediate. He’ll make one more album with the band before he steps down. He made an announcement during band’s show in Denver Friday night, October 14. Moody appeared with two of his kids on stage to deliver his speech, in which he said:…

Top 10 Worst Album Covers of 2022 - Part 2
#5. Drake - Honestly, Nevermind
Tumblr media
Some aesthetics work, the liquid metal effect on Daft Punk’s “Discovery”? It works, the jagged, almost unreadable logos of grindcore bands? It works, sort of. Putting those two together, even unintentionally, does not work. At this point, I think Drake is just having whatever image be his album covers just to be over and done with the process, I don’t know why some artists just don’t put a lot of thought into their album covers after a certain while, maybe it’s because they think they’re too big to have to try anymore. Yes, this is also on the list because I didn’t have “Certified Lover Boy” on the list proper last year.
#4. Ghost - Impera
Tumblr media
This looks like an Iron Maiden album cover by way of a Black Midi album cover. Enough said.
#3. Underoath - Voyeurist
Tumblr media
So.... who though doing Nine Inch Nails’ “The Fragile” by way of Billy Idol’s “Cyberpunk” was a good idea? This kind of retro VHS/Early Computer visual effects garbage is not cool, or retro, it’s garbage, and I love VHS tapes. This is just too much and the album title is obscured, not unreadable, but almost. I think the only reason this is not number two, is because the obvious number one choice already is.
#2. Boris - W
Tumblr media
Close up of something slimy, goody... yeah I’m an absolute wuss when it comes to anything that even looks gross, I don’t think I’m germophobic, but it might be similar, I don’t know, I just feel like I’d need to wash my hands after I touch this album. Are these some kind of tapeworm? Parasite? Overcooked squid ink pasta? I don’t know what this image is of, and frankly I don’t really want to know, I just want to know what was worse than this, because this would normally be my number one.
#1. Five Finger Death Punch - AfterLife
Tumblr media
Yep... This one is my worst, and it’s not even because it’s worse than every other album cover I’ve shown prior. This is the worst album cover, simply because I am one hundred percent done with Five Finger Death Punch’s toxic masculinity aesthetic. We have a skull, munching on knuckle dusters with chains, a spiked bat and a chainsaw in the background, with the usual amount of red and black to make this album cover look badass, this is a man’s man’s album cover, and by that of course I mean it’s an album cover for men whose entire personality is the fact that they are men. The men who think Tyler Durden was cool, think they’re a Rick Sanchez when they’re barely a Jerry, the men who want to listen to tough music because they think it makes them look tougher. Men who just can’t seem to understand that “Man” is not a personality in and of itself. Five Finger Death Punch’s album covers are toxic masculinity in the form of art, and quite frankly, I’m done with it.
Honourable Mentions:
As usual, there were a lot to pick for this list, so here are the ones that I strongly considered, but just did not believe really warranted being on the list proper.
Tumblr media
1. Slash feat. Myles Kennedy and the Conspirators - 4 2. Train - AM Gold 3. Oliver Tree - Cowboys Don’t Cry 4. Razor - Cycle of Contempt 5. Bad Boy Chiller Crew - Disrespectful 6. Elvis Original Motion Picture Soundtrack 7. Avril Lavigne - Love Sux 8. Machine Gun Kelly - Mainstream Sellout 9. Sevdaliza - Raving Dhalia 10. Korn - Reqieum 11. Bladee - Spiderr 12. Feeder - Torpedo

4. Best opening band
From Ashes To New was awesome! They opened for Breaking Benjamin and Five Finger Death Punch when I saw them in 2018. I would happily see them in a solo show. They were supposed to be at Aftershock festival last year, but canceled due to someone in the band contracting covid. I was really bummed. Bush was also incredible! I saw them open for Breaking Benjamin and Alice In Chains this last September. The band sounds just as great live as on their albums! Plus, it was 116°F/46.6°C during their outdoor set, but they still put on a great show! That's commitment.
17. Most spent on concert tickets
I have like three answers to this question 😂. Technically, I've only paid for tickets to a concert twice. My dad had always bought my tickets prior to this year. So with my personal money, the most expensive concert I've paid for was the Badflower concert in March. I spent $73 total for two tickets with tax.
However, that's not the most money I've spent on live music before. I spent $460 on my Aftershock 2022 weekend pass. I'm counting that separately, because it was a 4 day festival rather than a single concert.
The most money that's been spent on tickets for a concert I went to was for a Taylor Swift concert. My dad spent around $540 total on 2 tickets for us to go to the reputation tour.
20. Best venue
I feel like I haven't been to too many venues. I don't really have an opinion on this. I guess the Golden 1 Center in Sacramento is a good venue. I've been to 4 concerts there. I've been there plenty of times for basketball games though. (Go Kings!!) The nice thing about that arena is that every seat is a good seat. Even if you're all the way at the top of the arena, you'll still have a decent view of the stage.
Thanks so much for asking, Anon!!

EPICA: 'We Already Started Working On New Music'
Tumblr media
EPICA guitarists Mark Jansen and Isaac Delahaye spoke with Guitar Interactive at this year's Download festival in the United Kingdom about the progress of the songwriting sessions for the follow-up to 2021's "Omega" album. Mark said (as transcribed by BLABBERMOUTH.NET): "We already started working on new music. I don't know, actually, the status of every bandmember, because everybody is now in their own home studios making music. So I know that I am; I know [Isaac] is, because he talked about it. But I don't know from everybody. I don't know, for example, Rob, if he has already [written] some songs. But personally, it's going well, and I'm in a flow of inspiration."
Added Isaac: "Well, I have a two-and-a-half-year-old, so my flow of inspiration is not really one hundred percent. But, yeah, I'm working on a couple of ideas, and, actually, for the next album I thought I kind of have to… You always wanna reinvent yourself; don't do the same thing. So I'm still scanning, like, what can I do to break out of the usual way of writing? If something happens with that or not, we'll see. But I just like to think it over and see what else I can do with those seven strings. So that's happening right now. Then after the festivals, we have some writing camps where we all get together and start to [put all the pieces] together, work on each other's ideas."
A couple of months ago, EPICA frontwoman Simone Simons told Czech Republic's Backstage TV about the band's plans for a new LP: "After this year, all the festivals, we're gonna start writing a new record… All the bandmembers start writing songs in their home studio by themselves, but I haven't heard any of those songs yet… When inspiration strikes, we just start writing. But we're gonna schedule writing sessions. And we're all excited to write a new record."
Regarding how the songwriting works in EPICA, Simone said: "Well, it's mostly that first they have some music, some demos, and then I start to come up with vocal lines for that. That is mostly how it goes. The guys start writing the songs and then they give me a listen so I can already come up with vocal lines and then they can continue writing the songs to support the vocal lines. Sometimes songs are written really fast; sometimes it takes long. And inspiration can strike at the weirdest times. So it's good that we always have the phone that we can quickly record melodies, whether it's for vocals or like a guitar riff or anything. Everybody has a home studio, so it's very practical to quickly record ideas. And then we get together. Because we live in four different countries; we don't live in the same village. And then we actually sit together and finish writing the songs."
EPICA played two shows as the support act for METALLICA — on May 17 at Stade De France in Paris, France and on May 28 at Volksparkstadion in Hamburg, Germany. EPICA was added to the METALLICA bill as the replacement for FIVE FINGER DEATH PUNCH.
Last November, EPICA released "The Alchemy Project" through Atomic Fire Records. The EP was co-written and performed with diverse guests ranging from extremists like FLESHGOD APOCALYPSE, Niilo Sevänen (INSOMNIUM) and Björn "Speed" Strid (SOILWORK) along with melodic masters like Tommy Karevik (KAMELOT),keyboard legend Phil Lanzon (URIAH HEEP) and Roel Van Helden (POWERWOLF) to a once-in-a-lifetime song with Simons, Charlotte Wessels and Myrkur.
Just one day after the release of its anniversary reissues "We Still Take You With Us" and "Live At Paradiso", EPICA celebrated 20 years of existence live last September at 013 in Tilburg, Netherlands, the same place where they played their first show (supporting ANATHEMA) back in 2002.
EPICA was formed by Jansen after leaving AFTER FOREVER in 2002, and the band quickly gained attention outside their home country, taking big steps towards becoming the leading symphonic metal superpower they have long proven to be. After their ambitious debut "The Phantom Agony" (2002) and the surprisingly eclectic sophomore work "Consign To Oblivion" (2005),the road took them to new heights via their first concept masterpiece "The Divine Conspiracy" (2007) and their global breakthrough "Design Your Universe" (2009). 2012's opus "Requiem For The Indifferent", 2014's bedazzling "The Quantum Enigma" and "The Holographic Principle" (2016),cemented their reputation as not only one of the hardest-working metal bands in the business but also as one of the best. With "Omega", the final part of the metaphysical trilogy they began with "The Quantum Enigma", they reclaimed the throne without so much as the blink of an eye, amassing three million-plus streams during the first week of the album's release.

IN THIS MOMENT Announces 'Godmode' Album, Shares 'The Purge' Single
Grammy Award-nominated act IN THIS MOMENT has released a new single, "The Purge", from its upcoming studio album "Godmode", due out October 27 via BMG. The song is accompanied by the official music video directed by Jensen Noen (ICE NINE KILLS, FALLING IN REVERSE, HOLLYWOOD UNDEAD).
"We are thrilled to unveil 'The Purge' to everyone," says IN THIS MOMENT vocalist Maria Brink. "I am so grateful for how everything flowed to bring this song to life, both sonically and visually. Kane Churko and Jensen Noen helped to create this musical and cinematic experience with us and we could not have done it without them. The underlying message of the song is to not fall too deeply into the rabbit hole, everything is about finding balance. I had a lot of emotions building within me when I approached the song for the first time and after years of holding it all in I finally got to let it out! Enjoy."
"This song came from our time in lockdown. We all had our own personal experiences during the pandemic, and we all saw the social unrest unfolding daily tearing us apart. It was such a crazy time," says IN THIS MOMENT guitarist Chris Howorth. "Our band, like everything else, was stopped in its tracks. During the lockdown I was sending Maria musical ideas I was working on, and this one really resonated with her. She even said, 'This is gonna be our first single.' Fast forward a couple years and all the pent-up frustration and angst came pouring out in Maria's lyrics and performance, creating this crazy visceral song."
IN THIS MOMENT has also shared details for "Godmode", marking the band's eighth studio album to date. Recorded at Hideout Recording Studio in Las Vegas, Nevada, the 10-track opus was produced by Kane Churko (OZZY OSBOURNE, PAPA ROACH, FIVE FINGER DEATH PUNCH) and Tyler Bates ("John Wick" movies, Jerry Cantrell, BUSH).
"We absolutely cannot wait for everyone to hear what we've created," adds Howorth.
"Godmode" track listing:
01. Godmode 02. The Purge 03. Army Of Me 04. Sacrifice 05. Skyburner 06. Sanctify Me 07. Everything Starts And Ends With You 08. Damaged (feat. Spencer Charnas) 09. Fate Bringer 10. I Would Die For You
IN THIS MOMENT debuted "Sacrifice" and "The Purge" at the opening concert of "The Dark Horizon Tour" on July 8 at Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, Connecticut.
"I Would Die For You" previously appeared on the soundtrack for "John Wick: Chapter 4".
