Yesterday I had the craziest variety of crafts in my day.
I did punch needle and traditional embroidery. I crocheted quite a bit. I sewed some. I did jewelry crafting to make some wine glass charms and stitch markers. And I bought a hand crank cord knitting machine and made a few knit cords.
Amidst all that, I went for a really nice hike on a trail with a stream, but that was cut short by a big snake in the trail I didn't want to bother.
Exploring America's National Scenic Trails: A Guide to 11 Must-Hike Trails
There are 11 National Scenic Trails in the United States, designated by Congress to recognize and protect some of the country’s most scenic hiking routes. Here is an overview of each trail, including their locations, length, hiking time, best time of year to hike, and terrain types:
Appalachian Trail (AT): The AT is a 2,190-mile trail that runs from Georgia to Maine. It typically takes hikers…
A year ago today we hiked in to Abol Bridge Campground. Two days later we would summit Mount Katahdin, the highest mountain in the state of Maine at 5,269 feet.
This would mark the finish line of our Eastern Continental Trail, a hike that began in Key West, Florida and comprising more than 3700 miles. Along the way we battled stifling heat, cold and ice, stressful road walks, and attack dogs.…
In December 2017, I set out to a secret location (now known to only a few people and the spot has been since compromised by light pollution) to capture the Geminids. It did not disappoint. This year’s, happening now, are mostly ruined by the moon. But, the 2023 Geminids should be amazing. No moon. Save the date(s), stay up all night, have yr mind blown.
About a Mile before we got back to the cars. There was a Turtle right in the middle of the road. I jumped off my bike and basically ran into the center of the street and stopped the traffic in both directions.
The Turtle got right in the middle of the lane on the far side and stopped. So the next car would have had to hit him because they could not swerve into the other lane with lots of cars. But I stopped everyone.
I reached down and picked the turtle up. He was big and pretty heavy. But as soon as I touched him, he pulled all the way in his shell. I carried him off to the side of the road, and off he went.
So, so so many cars thanked me when they went by me as I was waiting to cross back over the street to my bike. Even a big trucker rolled down his window and said thanks for doing that.
Hopefully he stays out of the street. The picture makes him look smaller that he was.
THE NEW CHAPTER OF ATKH oh my god. the popcorn. the fact george is LEAVING. you feed us so well thank you 🙇♀️🙇♀️ my queen for real
AHH Thank you so much for reading!! I'm so happy to hear that you enjoyed the new chapter of All the King's Horses! It was fun to write something a little more domestic and less heart wrenching lol
Listen, Fictional!Matty just wanted to watch Netflix and eat popcorn for dinner in bed like a little gremlin, but unfortunately he has a boyfriend that's concerned with things like "nutritional value" and "crumbs in the bed"
But yes, Fictional!Matty and Fictional!George are going to be spending the summer apart 🥲 Two weeks in Colorado, then six weeks in Canada plus all the travel time hauling the horses. Fictional!George is not looking forward to this and wants to make sure he spends as much time with Fictional!Matty as he can. Fictional!Matty is just not thinking about the future too much at the moment, currently he has a boyfriend that seems to actually like him which is new for him, a roof over his (and Sally's!) heads which is important, a JOB that he doesn't hate and isn't being abused in (at least not like an unacceptable amount) and anything past that is a great big unknown for him.
Thank you SO MUCH for reading and for sending this ask oh my gosh! I'm just so grateful that people are still enjoying this fic and taking the time to send me lovely messages like this one! I hope you continue to enjoy ATKH! I also hope you had the best Friday because WE MADE IT, it's the weekend! I hope you have a great weekend!
