Back to older art. These are giant softshell turtles found in the Eocene Drazinda Formation of Pakistan. On the left is Drazinderetes (Greek for Drazinda Rower), known from a bony carapace 0.8 meters long. On the right, an indetermined softshell turtle that may or may not belong to the same species, but is only known from a plastron element. This might correspond to a bony shell 1.2 meters long. As you can see there are some big difference between the lower estimate and the upper estimate, which has a lot of free space. This is because in different softshell turtles there's difference ratios between the bony and the soft shell parts. The lower estimate is based on Apalone softshell turtles, which have only 20% cartilage on the shell, while the upper is based on the Malayan softshell which has up to 45% cartilage in addition to the bone. Tumblr media Tumblr media
Drazinderetes lived during the Eocene in what is now Pakistan in the Drazinda Formation. This is interesting as this formation preserves a marine environment, meaning that in the absence of evidence that the fossils were washed out at sea, Drazinderetes might have been a marine animal. This would match its enormous size, as most giant turtle species have been marine (not counting those of Miocene South America). Although this would make it the first known fully marine softshell until evidence of the contrary is found, modern softshells are known to occasionally enter saltwater. Drazinderetes shared its environment with crocodiles similar to Asiatosuchus, early manatee relatives in the form of Protosiren and primitive whales related to Basilosaurus. The following reconstructions have both been made by @knuppitalism-with-ue during his paleoart streams.

MY OWN TMNT ITERATION
Cause why not
Controlled Chaos: Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles
-Small summary of my idea-
Inspired by 2012 and 2018 tmnt as in taking some of the ideas of having a society of mutants ( no yokai ) kinda of like a show I watched called BNA.
Society knows about mutants but they aren’t the most popular with them, lots of discrimination at first that’s has been going on for some years now. The krangg have been kidnapped people and using them as experiments for years and some have escaped, and others have been discarded so over some decades they have become apart of society again like any other citizen ( doesn’t stop people from hating on them ) many people have been lost over the years.
The kragg and the foot are the ones who made the mutagen to began with, it works mostly like 2012 but also has a different version of it that can mutant/mix you with only the DNA of the specific animal mixed into it.
-More at a later date | iteration currently under construction-

I got quite curious but what is your favorite species of turtle? My favorite species are the soft shell turtles I always had a Fascination and still do when I was little Florida soft shell actually looks pretty neat when it's young but unfortunately loses that color once it gets older but my favorite species of turtle would have to be the leatherback sea turtle
I quite like the painted turtle! I definitely enjoy the fact that they're docile and love the sun, so I like to say that if I were to ever suddenly become a turtle, I'd pick that turtle species! And I especially love their red markings on the underside of their shells and plastrons, they look so cool in my opinion :D (I even made a rottmnt oc that is based off that species but that's unrelated lmao)

See would Leo and Donnie bite each other as children. Yes
Red ear sliders hunt baby soft shells
But soft shells are also carnivores and extremely territorial.
And in the Cain instinct between siblings and those two defiantly bit each other at some point.
Side question what soft shell turtle is Donnie. Because the ones I’ve found are from florida and by god Donnie having Florida many energy make sense to me.

florida is actually a very special place to me. like drdi was gonna be there or maine and while i thought florida had more comedy potential (mostly with gators and soft shell turtles) i also have a piece of me there from my childhood. i toured University of Florida (go gators!) and honestly kind of loved it... it would never be home but to all of you in florida, hello say hi to the turtles in the gulf for me and the brick buildings on campus and the humidity that makes my hair look great and the afternoon thunderstorms in the summer and the warm rain... i want to be warm

I finally come bringing ninja turtle content!! It's been a hot minute, lmao.
It's not EXACTLY Rise or any of the shows, but my own AU/iteration of the turtles. Currently don't have a name for it, it's just dumb and goofy and made me happy so here's some info about it!! Note that these are just doodles! Not their fully fleshed designs. Also please correct me if I am wrong with any measurement conversion! I am (unfortunately) American. 💀
First we'll start with Leo and Donnie, the oldest two!
Tumblr media
Leo is the oldest of the four (16). He is a Bog Turtle, he stands at about 5'2" (157.48 cm I think). As the oldest, he's always been there for his brothers and Splinter. He is very quiet compared to the others, not that he is mute but he talks very rarely. He is the most serious, yes, but he is also a very bad influence. . . Especially to Raph. Not that he is violent or anything, but he has definitely said some things that none of his younger brothers should hear. He is the most advanced in speaking Japanese of the four. He is also into Herbology and is a wanting to become a botanist. He has many plants in his room
Now onto Donnie!! They're the second oldest (15). They are a Florida East Coast Diamondback Terrapin and stand at 5'10" (177.8 cm I think). As the second oldest, they're often the forgotten one. Not in the sense that the others forget their name, but they are also quiet, and timid, so the others unintentionally forget they're in the same room or area with them. They try to be the voice of reason, especially in dangerous situations but their words fall upon deaf ears. . . Well, that is often literal if they're standing on Raph's left side. They're like a gentle giant, trying to use their science skills for good but if they've been up for more than 48 hours with no sleep, their experiments, research, and technology become. . . Questionable to say the least. They enjoy video games, their favorite being Minecraft. If their game was ever deleted, then safe to say New York City would be wiped off the map.
Tumblr media
Here's Raph! I've drawn him the most but you'll have to wait for that. He is the second youngest (14). He is a Pascagoula Map Turtle and stands at 4'11" (149.86 cm) making him the shortest, but don't think for a second that you can underestimate him. His entire left side is quite weak, having deformities to his plastron and carapace at his shoulder. He has scarring at his neck and on his face, being partially deaf in his left ear and partially blind in his left eye. He had a hearing aid and glasses with the one lenses when he was younger, but it always made him mad so Splinter stopped forcing him to wear them. He does have to wear and arm and leg brace however when him and his siblings go out to the surface. He is almost on the same speaking level as Leo with Japanese, but writing is often his struggle. He is easily frustrated by simple things, let it be simple tasks like doing dishes or cleaning. He wants to prove he can do everything the others can do, having been "sheltered" for a long time by Splinter. He has grown a major soft spot for animals, especially cats and dogs. Despite his flaws and disadvantages, he never lets that stop him, being too stubborn to give up.
Tumblr media
And last but not least, have Mikey!! He is the youngest (13) and is a Western Painted Turtle and stands at 5' (152.4 cm). He is a bundle of joy and chaos, never let his cute appearance fool you. A the youngest, he absolutely has his ways of getting what he wants. Well, he did when he was younger but now that trick doesn't work anymore. He is an artist, making money from commissions without ever having to show his face! He has horrible humor, like it's not funny at all. He was an IPad kid, playing lots of brain rotting games and having access to the internet way sooner than he should have. It got to the point where Splinter unforced a 1 hour screen time and supervised him until he was old enough to know better. His brothers often let him paint their shells when he's bored and the walls in his room are already covered with paint. He's a joy to be around and can make anyone happy. Also has goofy lil braces :)
Some additional info -
Leo - He/Him
Donnie - They/Them
Raph - He/They
Mikey - He/She/They
If you want anymore info, please leave a comment!! ^^

How Long Do Tortoises Live?
Introduction
tortoise lifespan : How long do tortoises live? That’s a great question!
The lifespan of a tortoise really depends on the species. Some tortoises can live for over 100 years, while others have a lifespan of only 10 or 20 years.
So what affects a tortoise’s lifespan? Well, things like diet, environment and genetics all play a role. But the most important thing is to make sure you provide your tortoise with a healthy diet and the right living conditions.
The Lifespan of Different Tortoise Species
So, how long do tortoises live? That depends on the species.
Some tortoises can live for up to 100 years, while others only have a lifespan of 10 or 20 years. The Galapagos tortoise is the longest-living species, with a lifespan of up to 100 years.
The giant Aldabra tortoise comes in second, with a lifespan of up to 80 years. And the African spurred tortoise is third, with a lifespan of up to 60 years.
As you can see, the lifespan of tortoises varies depending on the species. So if you’re thinking about getting a tortoise as a pet, make sure you do your research and find out how long your chosen species can live.
Factors That Affect Tortoise Lifespan
So how long do tortoises live, you ask? It really depends on a variety of factors, such as the species of tortoise, the environment it lives in, and how well it’s taken care of.
For example, a Russian tortoise can live for up to 50 years, while a Mediterranean tortoise can live for up to 160 years. The lifespan of a tortoise also depends on its diet and whether it has been spooked or not.
If you’re thinking about getting a tortoise as a pet, it’s important to do your research and find out what the average lifespan is for that particular type of tortoise. That way you can make sure you’re prepared for the long haul!
How to Ensure Your Tortoise Has a Long and Healthy Life
Now that you know how long tortoises can live, the next question is: how can you help ensure your tortoise has a long and healthy life?
There are a few things you can do to make sure your tortoise stays healthy. The most important is to make sure your tortoise has a balanced diet. They need protein, fruits, and vegetables to stay healthy.
You also need to provide your tortoise with plenty of fresh water and make sure they have a place to hide and get away from the sun. And lastly, make sure you take your tortoise to the vet for regular checkups.
Conclusion
Tortoises are a great pet option if you’re looking for a long-term commitment – they can live for decades! But before you bring one home, be sure to do your research to make sure you can provide the best care possible.
Tortoises require a lot of care and attention, and they’re not a low-maintenance pet option. They need a warm, dry environment and plenty of space to roam. If you’re considering a tortoise as a pet, be prepared for a long-term commitment – they could easily outlive you!

I got sick and wrote an essay prt 1
(Sources missouri wild life, Wikipedia and dum stuff I randomly know this is nor a real essay 💅🔥✨️)1.Alligator snapping turtles(Macrochelys temminckii)They are very large with sharp scutes and sharp beaks. the plastron and beaks looks a lot like water logged wood as a way of hiding from prey there found exclusively in the United States, from northern Florida to eastern Texas and as far north as Iowa. They are basicly all aquatic. tend to stay submerged and motionless for so long that algae begins to grow on their shells!(not to be confused with shell rot) They can go 50 minutes before needing to surface for air, these turtles almost never come on land(not counting females when laying eggs). River systems, lakes, and wetland are their main habitats.Their tongue allows them to catch prey they have a small red and or pinklishes tongue and wiggle it To attract an unsuspecting victim,(dun dun dun) this turtle will lay on the bottom of the riverbed and open his jaws. A fish that gets tricked by the turtle’s tongue(womp womp) will swim right into the range of the hungry predator’s beaks.they can also actively search for prey by tasting chemicals in the water that are indicative of a particular species(way cool). This way, even when their prey is hiding in the sediment, they can still sense them very very cool(thats two verys). Some myths claim that alligator snapping turtles are known to attack people, but this isn’t the case(how rude). But with a bite force of 1,000 pounds, their powerful jaws can snap through they can (depending on the size) bite off you hole hand but don't attempt to hurt humans unless provoked, so dont try to hold them unless your trained they do start off small but grow gigantic so unless you have a lot of food practice and thick gloves i would not keep them as a house pet(but fr dont get them as pets unless you research and know a lot)plants are 1/3 diet but mostly smaller reptiles fish and insect anything they can catch I have no clue if they are able to make sound I looked for like twenty minutes :( 2.spiny soft shelled turtel (Apalone spinifera)The eastern spiny softshell mainly inhabits large rivers and streams, but it also lives in lakes, large ponds, and even roadside and irrigation ditches.(it likes mud a lot) It is most common in tributaries and closed side channels of the Mississippi River. This species can tolerate a variety of bottom substrates, including mud, sand, or gravel. The eastern spiny softshell is active between late March and October.it is very aggressive(rabid Lil guys).Daily activity includes foraging for food in early morning, basking in the sun like on logs or along the bank,(it can breathe above air and in water)and resting in shallow water with the shell covered by mud or sand like the true kings and queens they are. There is a short period of feeding during the afternoon and evening that may extend into the night. They mostly sleep in mud but trees and stumps.Spiny softshells have a habit of floating near the surface in deep water but will quickly dive to safety with the slightest disturbance. To escape the cold temperatures of winter, this species will bury itself in a few inches of mud or sand at the bottom of a river, lake, exetra starting in October or November. A study of turtles on the Osage River in St. Clair County showed that they mainly ate crayfish and aquatic insects with an occasional fish. This turtle is not a threat to Missouri’s game fish populations. They often lie buried in mud, sand, and shallow water. By extending the head and neck so that the snout just breaks the surface, they can breathe in a snorkel-like manner. All softshells are mainly carnivorous. They actively search for and pursue prey or capture it by ambush so they literally pop off...then kill things I mean who hasn't They quote "eat anything that can fit in their mouth" they make clicking chips and hisses and if given the chance would bite off your knee caps
