Love took root in me before I learned its name🍑🪻

about a month ago i had the honor of getting an advance readers' copy of The Pairing by @casey.mcquiston

as

someone who loves art and history, i had the time of my life reading it. it was the perfect mix of romance, comedy, and aesthetic descriptions that made me feel like i was living inside a pinterest board iykyk.

i tried to capture the feeling i got while reading the book, that of a warm breezy summer in the middle of europe (in particular italy) though i took some creative liberties

the pairing spoilers below

thinking a lot about kit and theo living their day to day lives together again and how easy it must have felt to slip back together like nothing had changed even though everything had changed? thinking about theo sleeping in before going down to the kitchen to bother kit in the morning before opening the bar and the two of them essentially sharing one closet of clothes together because it's easier to get dressed fast and they're the same size and have a more similar style now. thinking about kit watching theo from across the restaurant in disbelief and knowing that his dreams came true and this is the lovely little life he gets to have with them now after being in pain for so long

If I had a nickel for every time I read a book about a bisexual boy named Kit who ran away to Europe after being rejected by/having a misunderstanding with the love of his life, I’d have two nickels which isn’t much but it’s weird that it happened twice
